I visited her almost a month ago on April 6th, 2021 so here is my comprehensive review. My balayage took a little under 1.5 hours to complete. She was very efficient while also ensuring that my hair retained its natural moisture and health. She made sure that she respected my time due to my meeting later that evening. When I returned home, I did notice that the toner didn't take on a small but noticeable section of my hair that was noticeably blonde. I immediately texted Annum to let her know and she squeezed me in the same day to reapply the toner for the area, which was a very quick fix. Not every hair stylist would show this level of dedication to ensure that I had the best experience. After a month, the color has held up beautifully and I've received endless compliments on her work. In terms of parking, there are public parking garages on the same street that are affordable and accessible (~$1.25/hr). Long story short, I came to Annum after nearly 2 years of not letting anyone touch my hair because of a disaster that left me in tears with shoulder length hair when I was supposed to only get an inch off my super long hair (obvs, this wasn't her who did it). Now I literally only trust Annum to do my hair and recommend her to all my coworkers, friends, and family. Not only is she precise with all her cuts and color, she can also recommend what she thinks will be flattering for you which is especially nice for people who may not come in with inspo pictures. After she brought life back to my sad hair, I trusted her to finally go ahead and give me some color with a balayage. I haven't looked back since then and have only been going lighter with each visit! The best part is that even several months later, my balayage looks fresh and perfect despite my hair growing out. I personally give her creative freedom and trust her with whatever color she thinks is gonna look great on me but you can always bring/show her what you want and she'll recreate it to the best of her abilities! Remember folks, every artist is different and uses different techniques so an exact recreation isn't really possible. She's great at listening to what you want while also protecting your hair from any unnecessary damage and if you aren't happy with it (which I'm sure is rare) she'll fix it! Annum herself is a delight to come in and see. She's always so sweet and sociable - it's always fun to talk to her while she's working her magic on my locks! I appreciate that she has her own private suite in a salon with other artists which does make her hijabi friendly BUT bear in mind that there are men who will walk around as they probably work there too. In terms of pricing, I think her rates are very fair especially considering what some other salons (super side-eye to yall) charge for balayages and color services that aren't even close to beauty that she creates. Again, bear in mind that while it isn't cheap - no hair stylist gives you a refund for services already done! Common sense right? Apparently not. Like I said before, if you aren't happy for whatever reason; let her know and she'll fix it. You'll be hard pressed to try and find ANY salon or stylist that'll refund you for any reason. The all over relaxer was $44, trim/haircut was $11 (comped for me because of the appointment error), deep conditioning was $7, and there was a $5 charge for the density of my hair and $5 charge for my hair length. Charging for density and length of hair is a little annoying but those are their policies. Kaci was so amazing I might just go to her next time and not the beauty school. She is the perfect example of the type of stlyist anyone would want to work with. Her energy is amazing and she is very talented. I also mentioned that I left a comment section requesting that we both get our hair done. The receptionist said okay and claimed she noted it for both of us on 3/12 at 5:30pm. On 3/12, my daughter and I arrived for services. The receptionist only recorded my daughter's appointment and I told her I was also getting my hair done. I explained I called to confirm and reminded her that my daughter is owed a trim from the last paid service. She looked confused, so I asked if she understood what I was saying and showed her proof from the previous receipt with the manager on duty's signature. About ten minutes later, I voiced my concern to the manager on duty. She said it was okay, and I could still get my hair done, then she went to the back. While waiting in the area, I talked with other clients in the waiting area. The manager came out and said she heard there was some controversy and that no one could request a student because this is a school and all students need to have a chance. She then asked to speak with me outside. First, she accused me of being irate with the receptionist-- which was untrue. If asking questions makes me irate, then I was. If she takes an innocent question as irritation, that's her issue, not mine, and I don't feel guilty. Second, she claimed I posted a bad review online, which was false. If I disliked the service, I wouldn't have returned. I then asked her to show me the negative review she says I wrote. She came back and said the student left but she saw the review herself, which is now gone. It was never there because I never wrote it, ma'am. If I did, then it's clear she can't handle criticism. Not everyone is a good stylist. If someone feels they didn't get good service, they have a right to write their truth, and the manager should accept it and move on. The third false claim was that I said I didn't want certain stylists to do my hair because they were playing with my hair and did a poor job. I told her that was another lady, not me, and I detailed these accusations-- three in total--and I am offended. She then tried to change the language and said she was just asking questions, but those were outright accusations without proof. Throughout the conversation, one of her focused on professionalism. But what professionalism did she display when she was constantly accusing me? The worst part is that she doesn't think she was wrong. To the manager, For the record, ma'am, I don't need any services from this school. There are other hair schools and salons nearby. I didn't do any of the things you allege I did. I am writing this review today because this experience was well deserved (no stars if I could). You are not a professional. The receptionist is upset because I told you what happened, and you and she fabricated stories--saying I was irate, that I posted a bad review, and that I said someone was playing in my hair and did a bad job. Girl, bye! There are better places out here with better customer service.

Clear communication shouldn't be optional, especially when expectations or pricing may differ from what a client reasonably anticipates. No one should leave an appointment feeling confused about either the outcome or the final bill. Trust is built through transparency, professionalism, and making clients feel heard. My hair still had sections of gray I could've done a better job. Then the blowout no heat protectant was used and my hair was flat ironed and then curled with this skinny iron giving me these super tight church curls then the only product used was a hairspray that made my hair crunchy. My newly trimmed ends felt dry and brittle. I washed my hair at home the same day only to find my hair was uneven from the trim. I was charged $85 she didn't charge me for the color. Not only is Jacinta a phenomenal stylist, she does her job with care for clients. I live in DC and I drive the distance to the salon because my hair is that important to me and Franchon Parlour/Jacinta, is just that good. My hair is natural and Jacinta does a great job of keeping my hair healthy and growing. Whether I get a weave with color or a press and curl, I'm never disappointed. Jacinta's natural ability to connect with her clients while you're in her chair is another reason why I continue to go back.
