But the worker there was very nice and he helped me find another shade that actually ended up fitting better with my skin tone (I got darker because it's summer)! He first said to me, "Let's swatch this color to make sure it matches." Then he said, "Would like me to put this on your face?" Then he said "Can I just do your entire makeup?" He was so kind and helpful the entire time, teaching me all his makeup tips as he did my makeup. Needless to say, he did a great job and I absolutely love how it turned out! Read the reviews prior to visiting this location on 1315 Herndon Ave and was a little hesitant since a lot of the reviews stated bad experiences, however, I was pleasantly surprised that I had the opposite experience. Sales associates on the floor were very helpful and greeted me as I came in. Sharon, in the Clinique area, helped me find exactly was I was looking for and made me feel like a part of her family. If I could rate it at -5 stars, I would. I bought a premium curling wand at Ulta online, but meant to buy a flatiron. Yes, my mistake. I took the curling wand to Ulta at 1315 Herndon, Clovis CA to exchange it. The cash register clerk, a young woman with long, dark hair, took the curling wand from me and took it with her when she went to get the flat iron I wanted. She came back with the flat iron (but not the curling wand) and proceeded to "complete" the return and exchange. She entered the return transaction into her register, then figured out that I owed a bit more for the flat iron. That was the opposite of what should have happened - I was owed a credit - and when I questioned her, she was snippy and told me my statement would show it clearly. Against my better judgment, I took my flatiron and went home. I discovered a couple weeks later that the clerk gave me NO RECEIPT. Two calls to a store manager resulted in my being rudely insulted. The result is that my statement showed 1) I got no credit for the returned curling wand. 2) I was billed an additional $50-odd dollars for the flatiron and 3) there was nothing about a return on my statement. I suspect, but don't know, that the clerk kept the curling wand for herself and fudged the transaction, blowing the old lady (me) off. Attached are pictures of the products in question. Salon services are super expensive for a stylist just out of beauty school. I asked for just a couple highlights and he started a partial. I did question it but at that point he had started in the back and I didn't want it to look uneven at that point. 4 hours and over $200 for a partial highlight, trim, root touch up. My roots and highlights are uneven and splotchy. Warm and cool and brass in the same spot. I should go back to have it fixed but I don't have the time as Im leaving town and I don't know who I'd be getting to fix it. I give one star to accommodate last minute. Large selection of affordable fragrance, makeup, hair and beauty products with fast friendly service is what makes me a regular here. Also love that I get points for my purchases! Ulta is addicting. It is so hard to leave with just what you initially came in for. Great prices, large selection & excellent customer service. I come her for my drug store facial masks (mud masks and the like) as they have the best selection. I also enjoy the hair products/ tools and everything it! cosmetics. I signed up as a member on the first visit. Noticed lots of young girls with uniforms and short aprons with toys to help the customer. Second visit didnt get any help whatsoever and could not find ANY eye pencil colors. The shelves looked completely wrecked and 90% empty. The cashier seemed to have cared less. I don't usually write reviews, but I had to on this one. I went to Ulta salon for some highlights and my experience was beyond HORRIBLE. It took my stylist about SIX HOURS to do my hair and the color still didn't come out like I wanted. I specifically told her I didn't want my hair blonde and it came out blonde. My mom came with me to get a perm. After the stylist had already started on her hair, she stops in between and says they don't have enough of the perm solution. So she literally leaves for 15 mins to go to the store. Why she didn't say from the start she didn't have enough? I don't know. After it was done, my moms hair had no perm! Management would not let her do it again or issue a refund. Her stylist didn't even apologize. If I could give this zero stars I would. I will never go back here. read more

Since I know the brands and know what I want when I go in, I really have no need for the employees help unless something is out of stock. I love that they carry everything from lower end to high end products and that they are carrying more high end products now. I like being able to buy M.A.C. here, which Sephora doesn't carry and Ulta's stock of K-Beauty brands sold in-store and online is so much better than Sephora's & they have so much more to choose from. Sales are also better than Sephora's. If Ulta has an item that Sephora sells, you can always buy it for less at Ulta. I love Ulta but something is really wrong with this location. Nothing is ever in stock. You walk in and the place looks like it's in the last stages of a mega close-out sale. I've been in there 3 times hoping to grab some of my usual basics and every time I leave empty handed. Friends report having the same experience. When you ask customers if they're finding what they need and the answer is "No, nothing I need is in stock as usual" maybe it's time to take a look at your ordering process and make changes. I remember coming into the salon once to get my hair done in 2016. My appointment was around 5 pm and I was there until past closing time. It was my first time going into a salon and I had no idea that it would take sessions to get my hair blonde because I have dark asian hair. I was naive at the time so I thought maybe they could make great things happen in one session. I told the stylist, I believe her name was Courtney, that I wanted to get a blonde balayage. She didn't even have the audacity to tell me the truth that she was not capable of achieving the look I wanted... Like I understand that she just wanted the money, but I could've done sucha better job than this licensed hair stylist..! She didn't have the use any techniques to make the hair color even or anything. Also, the water was very hot on my scalp and she when she was blow drying my hair the heat had burned my scalp. When I got home, I went ahead and washed my hair again because she didn't get all of the bleach out. There were just so many problems going on, I cried myself to sleep. I payed $110 for my first and worst experience in a salon. I went to a different salon called Illuminate Hair Studio and Spa in downtown Clovis the next few days and they were able to help fix it... So, to be honest, NEVER go here unless you wanna buy makeup. I feel like the Ulta salon stylists are only capable to doing minimal and subtle changes to your hair. Ever since this my bad experience here at the salon, I make sure that every time I want to get my hair done that I check for reviews and the stylist's previous work. Idk if Courtney still works there or not because this was years ago, but if she still does then I'm sorry just run away as far as you can. I know this review sounds so dramatic and unbelievable, but I'm telling the truth from a traumatic experience. I visit this store every time I'm in California visiting. I noticed there is a huge difference in the hair washing process between Chicago locations I did my hair at (I visited 8 locations at least). The shampooing process is NEGATIVE 10star review. Wets the hair even if washing hair dye they won't put fingers through and rub it off scalp. Slaps shampoo on. Again does NOT do a thorough scalp messaging to clean the scalp good from the dye. Washes it no thorough cleaning with fingers Conditioner and rinse. I had black dye in my hair. Even it was Frye's and blow dried poorly, I went home and washed it. read more

Came here with my fiance and browsed the stuff for dudes while she was doing her thing. I noticed the cologne selection was not as extensive as the one at Sephora, on the whole they seemed to have a lot more of the cheaper/not as good colognes. This may just come to personal preference, I tend to have very specific cologne tastes. The one they they do have more of though is shampoos and body washes, they actually had a shampoo I had been looking for and had been unable to find anywhere in town until I found it here. 5 stars for Alexis!! (I think that was the name of the happy girl in the hello kitty mask) I visited aug 7 around 2:30...I was greeted with an unenthusiastic "hello welcome in" but I was still greeted and my boyfriend who walked in a minute after was also, so I appreciate that! I specifically visited this location for The ordinary because the ulta near my job at fashion fair doesn't carry it. I looked for a while until I was finally approached by a blonde woman in prestige, she pointed me in the right direction but didn't seem excited to help. Once I found my stuff I came back to towards prestige to look for a cleanser. I was approached by Alexis with her cute bubbly self and eagerness to help. She gave me her opinion on the Mario bedescu cleanser I had in my hand. We briefly talked about mask-ne, all the skin problems I had due to mask wearing, and how to fix it. Alexis was literally a burst of happy in this store!!! She was relatable, she heard what I had to say and she even took me to IT cosmetics (my go to line for my DRY 30 year old skin!) to tell me about a new setting spray that would benefit me. Even my boyfriend said "now that is good service" after she walked away. It was only after I was looking at IT cosmetics with product in my hand that the first blonde woman came to service me. She was then friendly and chatty. Maybe it is just my perception but it seems like the people on prestige do a lot of talking and hanging out. I made eye contact with one of them twice and there was no sense or urgency to help. I do understand they are leased departments and it may not necessarily be their "job" or possibly count towards their sales goal, however I would have appreciated some direction. The overall tone of the store was "meh". Some of the associates seemed too busy stocking to lift their head and acknowledge. Some were talking, some I felt like I was in the way of their walking path. This store needs more people like Alexis! I don't think this place is as bad as people sound. I am not a makeup guru by any means. Makeup is pricey (you pay for quality name products ... and at lower cost), tons of options. I was overwhelmed. While people were asking if I needed help I honestly was so overwhelmed by choices and options and trying to determine what I need that I didn't know what help I was looking for! Three people asked if I needed assistance, all seemed willing to help, not just a "can I help you" because I have to ask. This ULTA is way better than the one located in River Park. I am happy they built this one because the one on Blackstone has terrible customer service. It's pretty much your typical ULTA. The employees at this location are very friendly and someone is always there to greet you or ask you if you'd like some help. The only reason I'm not giving it a full 5 stars is because the store seems to be out of stock of a lot of their items at all times. I was walking around clearly looking for something and not one person asked if I needed help but asked others around me if they did.
