I recently had a flat tire and needed to get that tire fixed or replaced. Of course it was at the end of the day before a long holiday weekend. Jeremy and Steve were great to get me scheduled for the next day so I wouldn't be stranded for the weekend. They don't up-sale, are very courteous and have a clean professional business. I highly recommend. read more

My experience was a total disaster because I didn't go with Ulmer. I was supposed to be at Ulmer for a tire replacement but I changed my mind last minute and go to Sam's instead. Somehow Sam's managed to put on a wrong size of tire and messed my differential up. I went back to Ulmer to get estimate for the repair, and Steve was so helpful as always, he's not only help me deal with Sam's insurance company but also went extra miles as putting new batteries in my key fob without me even asking. He kept me updated with the process, I didn't event have to call to follow up. This place is the best for your bucks. Service and customer service are unbelievable. read more

Our daughter's car overheated while driving on the highway. As we are almost four hours away, we were at the mercy of Yelp and Google reviews. We had the car towed to Ulmer's and received excellent service. The problem with the car was a result of a previous repair at a different shop (near home). Brian at Ulmer's helped us with pictures and video of the problem caused by the previous repair. They also squeezed her car into their busy schedule and got it done in a reasonable amount of time. We highly recommend! read more

Always get a 2nd opinion from a TRUSTED person if you choose to use Ulmers. They told me there was blown head gasket on a recently purchased used truck. This caused me heaps of unnecessary stress with the dealership. Turns out their diagnosis was 100% B.S. I had 3 other mechanics look into it - complete scam. I had been a customer for years prior - now I question everything they ever did. Its been 20000 miles since...motor is strong as ever. read more

I've never been a fan of mechanics because, in general, they treat many women differently then men. I realize there are exceptions, but that's been my experience. This particular business is much better at that than others I have been to, so I really appreciate that. read more

Not sure where they hire mechanics from but I would not recommend this place. My wife took her Jeep in for some clutch work and before they began they needed to remove the gear shift knob. Please see the pictures for the damage that they did to it. They could not get a simple gear shift knob off. They damaged it. They then told her it had put "a few scratches on it". Seriously, looks like an alligator attacked it! So not only could they not get the gear shift knob off and they damaged it, they also could not do the repairs and charged her $200+. Never will we return to this sham of a mechanic!!! you are warned! read more

Ulmer's is more than an auto care business. It's in the business of customer service something that most places have forgotten, but they should be awarded the Goldstar. Their ability to know their customers, to take care of their customers and go above and beyond is the reason why we will not only keep coming back, but also make sure that my teenage driver and all future drivers under our household go to Ulmers they have built trust through repeated, thorough service and authentic care. You never feel like you are just another number. Go see Brandon, Amanda, Steve, and the rest of the team. You won't regret it. read more

They come at a premium price, but that's because you get premium service. Ulmer's has never met a problem they couldn't solve, and I just recently brought them a doozy. I appreciate their excellent customer service as well. I can admittedly be an annoying customer, looking for updates daily, but they get it, and they treat me with the utmost of respect. I appreciate having such a talented shop in my area to service cars that are far past their prime. Ulmer's does not disappoint. read more

Best service experience ever! I have a 2007 Solara, and the service, this very first time at Uhlmers, was the best I ever had. Pictures accompanied items needing to be addressed, and there left no doubt as to whether it was necessary or not. I drove over from the WestSide, and I believe it was worth it! Now, if they'd just open up a couple shops on the West side! read more

Great work at a fair price, shout out to Wesley for getting my son's car worked on in a timely manner, he has an odd work schedule and we were able to get his car worked on, and back to us quickly. Great alternative if your done with those dealers who like to play games. 6/19/20 Update Again! Shout out to Steve and Fred, 3rd time getting the axle seal replaced on my sons Corolla, they found out what was causing it to wear out and leak so often, a loose axle shaft, something that the local Toyota dealer couldn't figure out after two tries! Along with an amazing warranty, incredible customer service, why go anywhere else? read more

Meh, not a fan. Have used Ulmer's twice for two different cars. First time the car wasn't fixed and the bill was hefty. Second time I was in for an oil change. Took a long time to complete & a phone call that we needed a list of other things as well. Just seemed like a very typical way of upcharging. Number 1 problem here is the price. Tried to give them a chance because they're local but we will continue any future work at our dealership and save a tooooooooon of money (even with coupons). Nice people, always busy. Just not a fit for us. If you want super nice customer service that is pricey, Ulmer's is your mechanic. read more

They consistently do good work at fair prices. We had an oil sensor and oil seal issue that took several visits to pinpoint and resolve. After the initial work, they never charged us for the follow up checks and eventual seal replacement. Communication and customer service is excellent. read more

The best place EVER! My car had multiple issues and the guys took such great care of me and my car! My 2011 Ford Edge runs just like it was driven off the lot. They explained everything to me in layman's terms so that I understood completely what was going on with my car and what it entailed to fix her up! I honestly couldn't be happier. Thanks Guys for being so amazing and respectful and attentive! read more

As always, prompt, fairly priced and thorough. My daughter's family (4 cars, another to come soon) all go there as well. Trusted, friendly service. read more

We have been an Ulmers customer for over 20 years. The service and care for our autos has been top notch. Highly recommend.

Not upfront with communication and I no longer trust this company. Not sure who the employee was. He was someone I've never worked with in the past. read more

As the myth goes "women get treated like their stupid at mechanics" or something like that. Not true here. Granted, I don't know much about cars, but I have never felt that they were talking down to me. I had a tire emergency recently and they got me in and out (it was just before they were closing) in about 30 minutes. They patched the hole in my tire and since i was bringing my car in for something else the next week, they let me pay for that patching on the next bill. read more

Thanks Ulmer's! I am veryvhappy with your service. Scheduling was easy online. Very thorough explanation of how they will diagnose the vehicle issue and initial costs. Received an estimate and video showing the problem via email. Received a follow-up phone call shortly after to go over the estimate, explain the time frame and get approval to move forward. Vehicle was repaired as estimated, with no extra costs. FYI, I took the vehicle to Wyler Eastgate service for the same problem 6 or 7 months ago and they quoted me almost $10,000. Ulmer's repaired my vehicle for $1,600. Thank you for being honest! read more

Always helpful, always honest. These guys have taken care of my MDX forever ... now with over 200,000 miles under its wheels. Great service, friendly, knowledgeable and just plain sweethearts! I won't go anywhere else! read more

It might seem strange to highly rate a place where I wind up spending a lot of money on boring things like auto repairs, but they are so good that I almost don't even mind. I have heard around town that Ulmer's is typically somewhat more expensive than other nearby shops, and while that may be true, the fact that I know I'm going to get an accurate estimate, a straightforward explanation, and a solid repair is money in the bank, to me. I've never had to bring my van back because a repair was done incorrectly, and they have never come back with a price higher than their initial estimate. They always assure me that if they did find something else during the repair that they'd call right away to key me in on any additional cost. They also always give me info about repairs I should be anticipating down the road (this latest time they told me about some parts in my suspension system that are showing their age, which is completely reasonable on an 11-year-old vehicle, but assured me I could hold off a bit longer). Beyond knowing their way around a car or two, they are also just extremely nice. They know no one is excited about unexpected auto repairs, but they don't add to that stress by giving you the runaround or trying to constantly upsell you on unnecessary services. They keep in touch with you throughout the process, and as a woman, I greatly appreciate that none of the people here have ever talked down to me (a very common experience at repair shops). We really don't go anywhere else at this point. read more

Having such a reliable, trustworthy and customer focused business in the neighborhood is invaluable.

I had a minor problem with my car last week. I stopped by to see if they could help because I was leaving town for a family funeral. They somehow fit me in and fixed the problem so I could unexpectedly travel. It didn't take long but to know I didn't have to go find someone else to help was a huge relief. Thank you Ulmer's. You are absolutely my go to auto repair. read more

I had one of my high intensity headlights burn out this morning. I talked to Wesley on the phone and he invited me to bring it in right away. By the time I got there he had already ordered and received the part and had it installed immediately (while I waited). The procedure was quick and reasonably priced. read more

Best auto shop experience I've ever had! My car battery needed to be replaced, and they were able to check it out, install a new one and get me on my way in 15 minutes. Roadside assistance recommended Ulmer's to me, and I'm so glad they did! Everyone that I talked to, especially Steve and Wesley, were helpful, polite and a pleasure to do business with. Seriously, if you live on the east side, don't take your car anywhere else. I'll be back! read more

Thank you Ulmer's! These guys are awesome. We have taken our cars to them for a few years. They have always taken good care of us. But today they really came through for us. We were all packed for a 10 hour road trip. Car top carrier on, dog in crate, kids strapped in...then the car wouldn't start! We called them for advice and they walked us through jumpstarting the car. We got to them and they had us set up with a new battery and ran a diagnostic to make sure we were good to go all within 10 minutes! They saved the day. read more

Ulmer's is a wonderful asset to the Anderson Township and Eastside community. Professional and honest ownership oversee a tenured team that delivers quality work in a timely manner and at a fair price. Consistently excellent service, outstanding follow through after the work has been done, friendly staff.

Ulmers is great. Have been taking our cars there for a few years. Always feel like the work is done right, the prices are reasonable and the service is great. I can't tell you how many times they have talked us out of needing a service versus some places that try to sell you a bunch of things you don't need! They also make the appointment process and payment super easy. read more

Ugh. Stopped in for an easy fix: Ford F-250 had two low tires. I'm handicapped and can't use a tire air hose. There was a guy at the front desk - turned out to be owner's son, Bryan Kauffeld - who greeted me with a surly disposition. I told him what I needed, and why, and he asked me which two tires. I said I wasn't sure - the two flat ones, I guess. The guy flipped out and started yelling at me! "I will not be treated like an idiot!" and blah blah blah. I told him never mind, and the man a block away was able to help me in three minutes. Easiest 20 bucks he ever made. I will NEVER bring my 3 vehicles back to Ulmer's! We miss you, Bruce! read more
