DO NOT go to this surgeon unless you don't mind a huge incision which causes a painful and lengthy recovery period, a rude doctor who doesn't explain anything and gets offended by questions, and is very poor at returning calls.
On July 11, 2014 I had surgery to remove a sebaceous cyst. Unfortunately I've had to deal with cysts for 25 years and have plenty of experience having them surgically removed, even two that required drainage tubes. They've ALL been located in tender bikini and crotch areas. NO other doctor has given me an incision exceeding 1/2 - 3/4".
In postop my husband I were instructed that it was IMPERATIVE when I removed the bandage the next day to LEAVE ON the white surgi strips until my post op appt in 7 days. The next morning when I removed the bandage I was horrified to see I had a 2" incision.....and there were no surgi strips. I've heard of mistakes in surgery, so I didn't know if someone forgot to put them on. I was worried the HUGE incision might split wide open. I called and the answering service said she'd call me back in 30 minutes. 2 hours later I called again, being scared to move in case the incision opened up. She then called me back and said she used internal stitches and glue instead. So why was I specifically instructed to make sure I left on the surgi-strips??
Since the incision was so enormous, I assumed I must have had a massive cyst with a deep root. When I went to my post-op I asked her to draw a picture of the cyst size. She drew an oval about 1/2". I asked if it had a deep root. She said "no root." So I asked why the incision was 2" long. She gave me a rude look and said "if you're so concerned with scars you should have gone to a plastic surgeon!" I was floored! I'm just lucky this surgery was inside my legs, if it had been in front, my bikini days would be over. She refused to explain why it required a 2" incision.
The incision is unbelievably painful and its located right where I sit....so sitting is accelerating the formation of a large painful keloid. After 9 days I finally got a donut pillow and that was heavenly - I could finally sit without sitting RIGHT ON the incision. Why on earth didn't she recommend this?
On July 23 I called and left a message for a return call. My incision was still bleeding. AFTER 5 DAYS WITH NO RETURN call, I called again on July 28. I finally got a return call late afternoon and could barely hear her due to very poor reception....I think she was calling from her car. It was a very difficult conversation to follow. Plus she was rude as usual.
My incision bled occasionally for 3 weeks, enough to go through my underwear, and even through jean shorts when I was walking around in public!
I would NOT recommend this doctor to anybody. I'm giving her one star because she did remove the cyst. read more
