Simply the best. Dr. Galloway did open inguinal hernia surgery on me three weeks ago, and I could not be more pleased. I experience no significant pain--a testament to his skill and attention to detail. I am recovering quickly, doing everything a normally do, and in another week am told I can return to the gym and swimming. I developed a hernia July 2019. Dr. Galloway was recommended by several people on nextdoor. I met with him two times before scheduling the surgery. I had a lot of questions ( actually brought in a list). He was very patient and answered all of my questions in depth. He is very personable and easy going. He also has a lot of experience. I opted to go with the laparoscopic procedure in order to see if I had a bilateral hernia. I was nervous on the day of the surgery but the nurses were great. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Landon, was very personable and eased my anxiety. I told the nurse My sister is a nurse anesthetist and recommended having him give me Versed. She repaired the info to him and he thought it was a good idea. He had excellent technique when putting in my IV. Dr. Galloway also checked up on me before the surgery and allayed my fears. The surgery went smoothly and I awoke with my wife by my side. I took one Percocet for pain. I had a little bit of pain the first day but never needed to take any additional pain medication. I took two weeks off from work and followed all the rules. I didn't work out for 7 weeks. He said everything looked great at my 2 follow ups. I have had no issues since and I exercise regularly (I try not to overdo the weight training though). Don't let Dr. Galloway's laid back persona fool you. Bowel surgeries can be 'Tricky.' Dr. Gil did a lapraroscopy over 2 yrs. ago & took 12 in. off my Colon due to Diverticulosis. No problems for a long time. Then a bowel blockage practically out of 'no where.' Because I was on Opiods & then Antibiotics in the hospital... Results were delayed. I have to say my surgery with Dr Purgett was the best. He is great doctor. My surgery was at Scripps Encinitas main. They were great too. Working with there office good and bad. They got my surgery approved quickly. Got me on the surgery schedule with in a couple of days. So that part was the best. I work and need to be of work for six weeks. I filled out my disability online. Then forward the R number to them to finish my claim. I was told they don't use the computer for that. And then would have to send in the paperwork. I was told it would take maybe a week longer than them doing it on the computer. It took them two weeks to fill out the paperwork and send it in. Then I was told another 3 to 4 weeks. That's 5 to 6 weeks with no money. So if you need to get disability pay while off for your surgery. I would look for a office that uses the computer. This doesn't take away from the Superior medical care I was given by them. read more

Pre-op was simplified by an efficient scheduler, along with a knowledgeable, friendly surgical nurse who stayed with my case from beginning to end. There were no long, cold hallways to be navigated and I awoke from the procedure in a small, quiet, recovery room to the reassurances of Dr. Galloway that all had gone well. His calm disposition and thoughtful demeanor are added bonuses to his fine, surgical skills. This doctors office is terrible and if you love your family or self do not go here. Mr. Galloway (I refuse to call him a doctor due to his lack of consideration for his patients) was responsible for the care of my fiance. His office took over a month to send images to a surgeon after telling my fiance that she needed a biopsy due to a suspicious growth in her breast. Yes, they told her you may have breast cancer and then proceeded to lose images and take over a month to correspond with the surgeons office. My review is overdue. In November 2017, the day before Thanksgiving, I was admitted to Scripps Hospital with severe appendicitis. Within an hour of my arrival to the ER I was seen by Dr. Galloway (who was on call that day) and within two hours, in the OR. He was superb, removed the offending appendage and even took a photo of it for me... I cracked up but I appreciated the effort!
