He truly does listen, and takes your imput as well as your treatment seriously. He needs to be on the cover of a magazine or something, because I was crying and vomiting from pain almost daily, hardly sleeping, and utterly out of hope. Such extreme pain makes you feel like you're going to lose your mind. Dr. Ky has changed everything for me (Tracy, the specialist therapist is a godsend as well), and I can say with full and complete confidence that this is beyond five star treatment. ESPECIALLY in America - it took me years to find someone like him and Tracy. They're on top of all the latest studies, and are happy to educate you whenever you ask. It's wonderful. This guy is a rising star, and now the staff is truly comprised of compassionate, angelic beings. Seriously, they are the nicest nurses ever. I think the beginning phase there just had a few post-opening hiccups. If you come in for a consultation, you will see why I instantly loved these people and wanted them to succeed so desperately. Pain management deals with individuals who are extremely stretched thin, worn out, and we don't rest well and therefore can feel quite sensitive. Being stressed about potentially not having your medication/being dropped as a patient is a constant fear a majority of us have, so it's seriously terrifying to assert yourself when asking for updates or whatever. That is not something you should worry about here, so long as you are cordial, obviouslt. It's so great and exciting that there's a solid team now who handle interactions in a way that makes pain management, well...painless. (Yes I'll see myself out) Keep up the good work, everyone!!! We need you out here!

The staff was so helpful and polite. The doctor actually looked me over ran some manual tests and now I am going to get treated the proper way. What a great place. A bit off the open track of places and I live in Imperial Beach, but the drive is so worth it. I have told other people if you want a doctor who does care go here, and you wont be disappointed. 5 BIG STARS!! Thank you. James Marshall

I can see why people say some stuff is outdated. The bed didn't always work, and the bathroom sink was clogged the whole time. I had really nice nurses. The pediatricians I met with were not the kindest and honestly shouldn't be working with children let alone babies. Besides that the food was actually really good, their breakfast was delicious. The eggs were made to order and fresh. The beds are really uncomfortable and if you are hungry in the middle of the night the vending machine is falling so bring plenty of snacks. No microwave in the room but there is one in the lobby Besides that the aftercare was really nice, and all the staff had really good bedside manner. Id give birth here again, especially since they're updating the facility

I immediately was tested and diagnosed with severe gut issues which required immediate surgery which due to complications lasted three days. The surgery was successful and after 1 week in intensive care and a month in hospital, I'm as good as new. The team (from Doctors, nurses and techs) saved my life. It's weird to say be they did. EVERYONE we (my family and loved ones) were treated so well and with compassion that I really missed them. I wish I could point out one particular person but I can't. They were all wonderful. From Doctors who checked daily, Nurses who worked tireless down to maintenance people who were so polite and good at their job. I can't say enough how well the hospital people where and I will be eternally grateful. THANKS SO MUCH

Let me tell you, if you need surgery, go here! Mary at the check in desk dotted every i and crossed every t and was pleasant and efficient as could be: 5 stars. Abby, my pre-op nurse, could not have been nicer, more attentive, and responsive to my questions: 5 stars (and now, Abby, you have your first Yelp review! LOL) Dr. Joe, my anesthesiologist was equally attentive, thorough and simply wonderful. I don't remember a thing after he said "Here comes the relaxing drugs": 5 stars Surgical nurse Paul was the same. Personable, attentive, skilled and helped put me at ease: 5 stars Post Op team was wonderful, although having just come out of anesthesia, I didn't manage to catch their names: 5 stars. Let's face it: surgery is scary and no fun. The fine folks at UCSD Center For Surgery Encinitas made the experience a positive one. They were busy but never once did I feel like just a number. Their skill level is off the charts. If you have a choice where to have surgery, pick USCD Center for Surgery Encinitas. You won't regret it! If I ever find myself there again, I won't nearly be as anxious. In fact, in a small way, I might even look forward to it!! Everyone there deserves a raise....just don't increase my health insurance premiums to cover it, please!

My adult son, who has high-functioning autism, underwent surgery under general anesthesia yesterday. We arrived ten minutes prior to his scheduled appointment, and two female assistants were prompt in escorting him at the appointed time. When I requested to accompany him to the treatment room to help him feel more at ease, I was abruptly told by a male assistant, "Sorry, you can't." The tone and manner of this response felt dismissive and lacking in empathy, especially given my son's condition. This same assistant proceeded to review the discharge instructions with me in the lobby. I explained that, since my son was receiving general anesthesia and this was his first surgical procedure, I wished to be present in the recovery room to help ensure he remained calm upon waking. The assistant did not respond to my request, leaving me with the impression that my presence would be permitted. To my surprise, after a wait of less than forty minutes, I was informed that I needed to drive around to the back of the building to pick up my son. Upon arrival, I observed the male and female assistants helping him to walk. He was clearly disoriented and unsteady on his feet. I was deeply concerned that no wheelchair was used, especially considering the effects of anesthesia. Once he was seated in the car, I noticed blood pooling in his mouth. I brought this to the assistants' attention, and the male assistant promptly blamed my son for not biting down firmly on the gauze. This was an unfair and inaccurate assessment; the bleeding was significant and not due to any lack of compliance on my son's part. Nevertheless, they replaced the gauze before departing. I am extremely disappointed with the overall quality of care and communication we received. While the facility itself is aesthetically pleasing, the lack of compassion, accommodation, and post-operative follow-up has left me feeling disheartened. In contrast, when my daughter had her wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Alan Shelhamer, the experience was markedly different. Although her procedure was done under local anesthesia, she was observed for a significantly longer period following surgery. I was allowed to be with her in the recovery room, Dr. Shelhamer spoke with me personally afterward, and his assistant called later that day to check on her recovery. Not once today did I have the opportunity to speak with Dr. Soelberg, nor has anyone from the office followed up to check on my son's well-being. This lack of communication and care is troubling and warrants serious reflection.
