This place seemed like our best bet. Since this time of year is busy in AZ with so many snowbirds, I booked a reservation through the online portal. It didn't end up being necessary. We were seated right away and never asked about our reservation. The restaurant is located in a strip mall. From the parking lot, it looks small and more like a fast food place, but it is actually looks double the size once you get inside. It has a nice sit-down ambience with new, clean, and somewhat rigid booths. Straight posture was definitely encouraged here in these upright seats. Although it does seem like a lot of people might order items to go, we were shielded from any traffic while eating. To start, we shared some sushi rolls. The spicy salmon was nice, but I really liked the sweetness of the unagi eel roll. They were a little sloppy in preparation, but this didn't impact the flavor. Each plate came with 8 pieces of sushi, some sliced ginger, and a small ball of wasabi. My uncle asked for an additional plate of wasabi and the server delivered it, but he commented on how they usually end up throwing it away because most people don't eat much of the green ball of fire. The table had a container of disposable chopsticks as well as two types of soy sauce. I was delighted to find the 50% less sodium variety with the green label. small plates with one paper napkin each were part of the setup. We had to ask our server for more napkins after my husband splatter soy sauce all over himself. The server brought just two more. It really wasn't enough to fix the 101-dalmatian spots he had acquired from the black soy splattered all over his white jacket. We also ordered curry. My uncle indulged in the pumpkin curry with shrimp. The bowl was massive - much bigger than mine. I had the red curry with tofu. It was beautifully presented with perfectly formed cubes of extra firm tofu lined up in the yellow soup. There was also bright red strips of bell pepper adding a pop of contrasting color. Unfortunately it didn't seem like my curry was well blended. It was as if they added cold coconut milk to a hot pan and it possibly heated up too fast causing it to separate and slightly curdle. Despite this, it still tasted good. I did have some trouble with the large size of tofu and the length of the bell pepper strips. I wish both had been just a tad bit smaller to fit in my mouth. I only had a spoon, so cutting the pieces wasn't an option. To go, I ordered the spicy green beans with shrimp to take home to my mom. She enjoyed two meals out of it. The shrimp was large and plump. Plus there was no shell or tail to pull off making it much easier and more pleasant to eat. Our bill came out to just over $100 with iced tea and sake added to the above. It seemed reasonable for the five plates we ordered. We had come during happy hour where certain items are a dollar cheaper, but I don't think we ended up ordering off that discounted menu. All and all, it was a decent meal and experience. I might come back here because of the convenient location and the availability of both sushi and Thai curry on the menu.

In one corner of the restaurant is a full service bar. They have specialty cocktails available and they are a few dollars less during happy hour from 3:00 pm to closing. We tried the Blossomtini and the Lychee Martini. Both were quite sweet. The Blossomtini was made with Grand Marnier, triple sec, sake, cranberry juice and lime juice. My mom loved it. The Lychee Martini had vodka, like juice, lychee liquor, and vermouth. My uncle said it was much too sweet for him. I had sweet iced tea. The waitress was great about bringing me a refill before I ran out, and she even offered to make me one to take on the road. Our waitress was very patient with us. It took us some time to make up our mind when deciding what to order. She checked in with us regularly, but gave us plenty of space so that we didn't feel pressured. My uncle and mom wanted spicy sauce, so she brought a small dish of Siracha sauce. Also, our sushi rolls came with golf ball sized wasabi on each plate. She took good care of us. The menu has a variety of sushi choices, but you can also find things for those who don't like fish like ramen and chicken teriyaki. For our appetizers, we had an order of fried calamari and miso soup. My mom isn't into sushi, so she ordered the shrimp and mixed vegetable tempura. It was so light and delicious! She also tried the firecracker with tuna stuffed into half a jalapeño. Unfortunately, it was not spicy at all, but it was flavorful. My uncle and I ordered unagi rolls, spicy tuna rolls, and salmon sushi. It was a lot of food. We were absolutely stuffed. The price tag was about $110...reasonable for three people who were pleasantly full and enjoyed our dining experience.

The NY strip was cooked perfectly--juicy and tender. The tempura was crisp and light, and the miso soup was warm and comforting. The salad, however, was drenched in dressing--there was easily a quarter cup sitting at the bottom of the bowl. Overall, the entrée portions were the highlight, but the sushi missed the mark. For $18-$21 per meal, I expected more consistency and quality. Nothing really stood out enough to make me want to return.

We get there and they have a sign out for the AYCE, last call 0830pm. We go inquire about the last call and our reservation being at 0745. They reassure us that we would still get the full 90 minute experience. At about 0800pm they tell us our table they thought would be available is not available, they say individual parties instead. A guy comes out and tells us that the time frame they gave us was an estimated time, we let him know that was not what were told, but we also got a text confirmation. He tells us, well the Weather is nice. We can accommodate you outside. We agreed. They got the tables all settled and we're about to sit down. The same older man tells us, that the last call is 0830PM, ummm what? They tell us well we can try and get everything in, but the last call is at 0830. You can stay until 0900, what?! I let him know that was not what there hostess had told us, we told him they said we'd still be served and given the 90 Minute experience. He said well I don't know why they told you that, I am going to have to go let them know that is not the case. It's now well past 0800pm and restaurants are closing soon and we are a large party.
