Food looks pretty but the taste is not that great :( Soup dumplings don't much much juice. Ordered a yogurt drink, it came lukewarm, waited until the ice melted to be a cold drink. The waitress was very kind and quick with our order. We got the pork and shrimp xiao long bao, sesame noodles, and pan fried pork buns. The pan fried pork buns were tiny and had no moisture. The xiao long bao dumpling wrapper is not your normal wrapper and tasted more like a thick dough. Didn't have time to take pictures of what I ordered because I was so hungry and LET ME TELL YOU! Coming here satisfied my hunger! I ordered the pan fried pork buns which were soft and crispy with well seasoned pork and the scallion pancakes which were light and flakey. Service was great unfortunately food is mediocre for the money. The spare ribs are very bony and fatty. Just be aware for $14 or $13 whatever it may be it's definitely not worth it for two spare ribs that they cut up into 10 pieces. The sauce to the spareribs is very good. Had a quick bit here past Sunday. First the good, service was great. Ambiance was nice, clean and airy. Food on the other hand was pretty bad. Pork chop fried rice was 3/5. Rice was good, pork chop was dry. Chicken in spicy oil had no flavor, seems like the forgot to put salt. Chicken was tender tho. 2/5 Noodle with spicy sauce as again tasteless. 0/5 Now soup dumplings. Size was about right compared to the real thing from Shanghai. Skin was the right thickness too. (I actually do not like any of the other soup dumplings around Edison because they are too big and skin made of the wrong flour. ) The main issue here is there was no soup in the dumpling. The skin was soggy. The dumplings are Luke warm. I feel they probably left it standing after it was cooked for too long. The skin probably absorbed all the soup. 1/5 Overall I would not recommend this place. Food is just not up to par with other Chinese restaurants around town. read more

Ugly Dumpling was, overall, a very disappointing experience. I was initially excited for a new soup dumpling restaurant to open up in the Central Jersey area, but the size and flavors of the dumplings were just average, and the noodles with dried beef and Sichuan pepper were very poor. At $11 for noodles, you would expect good flavor or decent portion size, neither of which was true. I'll add a star for the service but that's about it. read more

Place is clean, there's ample seating and the restroom is clean. Staff are nice (we were seated promptly). The food is ok, but not great. A little but pricey with the size of their dumplings. The beef stew noodle soup is ok but not really comparable to other noodle places I've been to. Also their drinks are expensive, flavored black tea is 5.95 and adding boba or jelly will be 99c each. Came today during soft opening. Ordered pork and crab XLB and Signature XLB. Unfortunately, almost NO SOUP in the soup dumplings and not very flavorful. Even though there were 5 different flavors of soup dumplings, you couldn't tell the flavors apart -just different colors. The inside is pleasingly aesthetic, still need training with staff to speed up service (once seated, we waited 10 mins before someone came to our table). I wish them the best of luck read more

If you're looking for an authentic soup dumpling place similar to those in NYC Chinatown, unfortunately this isn't the place. Compared to Joe's Shanghai, Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao and other well known soup dumpling restaurants, this was nowhere near the same level. The soup dumplings were incredibly small for 6 dumplings at $8.95 each. Ours were the size of shumai and I wish I was exaggerating. There wasn't even a full sip of soup in the dumplings. The flavor of the meat in the dumplings was strange as it tasted like ginger, even without it being dipped in vinegar and ginger sauce. The sesame noodles were incredibly runny, and they used the wrong noodles for it. Do not waste your time and money here. It is not authentic. Better off going to Chinatown! read more
