Nearly 8 weeks after the initial faulty install, the company has evaded our persistent requests to correct the installation. Given the frustrating and exhausting experience of working with this company, I would never recommend them and would advise anyone interested in hiring them to steer clear. For those interested, here is a detailed account of our experience: - We scheduled the initial installation, and to our surprise, the installation crew called a week early to say they were on their way. We told them it was the wrong week and they could not come that day. - No one called us to apologize or reschedule. Instead, we made several calls and sent an email to our salesperson, Scott Whitmarsh, and the job was rescheduled to begin on the date originally agreed. - As for the installation, I will preface this by saying that Scott proudly sold us on the fact that this company hires craftsman to install floors, as compared to the inexperienced flooring installers that may be found at somewhere like Lowes. - The crew that came to install our floors were clearly inexperienced and unqualified to complete the job. While they managed to adequately lay the floors in the living and kitchen area, they neglected to level the subfloor at any point, which became an issue with the bedroom installation. The bedroom LVP floors have high and low spots that visibly bow when stepped on. The company has repeatedly evaded our requests to properly level the floors and redo the installation. We have persisted for nearly 8 weeks at this point to have the bedroom installation completed properly. - The crew also installed baseboards. Some of our original baseboards were damaged during the flooring removal and dry out process from the flood, so we needed the same type of baseboard installed where the old ones were missing. The baseboards were the wrong size, but the crew installed them nonetheless, never voicing to us while there that the boards were the wrong size. In fact, it turned out that they installed baseboards of two different sizes, which were both different from our original baseboards. - The baseboard joints showed very poor craftsmanship, with large gaps and joints that were poorly cut. See photos. - The quarter round installed at our front and balcony threshold were noticeably damaged during install. - Several of the baseboards were damaged during installation. - The baseboards in the bedroom closet were installed misaligned so that the closet doors no longer close properly. - The crew used silicone to caulk the baseboard joints, which is not a paintable surface. We discovered this when our painter came to paint our walls and pointed out where the paint would not adhere to the areas near the baseboards that were covered with silicone caulk. - After much complaining, it was agreed that a more experienced crew would come back to properly install the baseboards. - When the day came, the same crew arrived. - We called to say that was not acceptable, and later that day a different person came to perform and supervise the baseboard re-installation. - This more experienced person also trimmed some of the LVP boards in the bedroom to see if that would correct the bowing. It did not. - We continue to work with the company to correct the poor bedroom install. However, given all we've been through, we would advise anyone looking for new floors to shop elsewhere.

This project is in process, but I Scott has been a knowledgible and responsive resource for a complicated project. Meanwhile, my husband and I needed to replace the very tired carpet in our home. As our knowledge of carpeting was nil, Scott started us with an overview and primer, asking many questions about our home, lifestyle and priorities (small spaces, high traffic, 70 pound dog, quality, aesthetics, feel) so he could make the best product recommendations. Within a couple of hours we walked out with three sample boards, mulled them over in our home and made exactly the right selection. Three weeks later we have beautiful new carpet installed by Raoul and Jon, their in-house installation team who were a delight to work with. I am very particular about installation, both process and care for details. These are craftsman who are rightly proud of their work. Communication was excellent with both Scott and Raoul and his crew. Raoul was even very patient with me, explaining how to clean the carpet after our dog promptly walked with his muddy feet on the carpet that had been just finished 10 minutes before. Glad we selected for durability and an active household. And glad we selected Seattle Style Flooring!

Now I have to wait for an uncertain time and pay for the stocking fee of my other materials which I plan to use after installing the floor . I go into their store, select the slab I want, give them the specs, and pay for my stone countertop. I'm told that they will try to get it done for me by the end of the week. They use the word "try" because it's a short week (being the July 4th weekend.) I do understand when they tell me they're too busy that week, but they'll get it for me as quickly the following week as possible. When the following week arrives, I'm then told that it won't be ready until Friday. I very patiently explain that I live out on the Hood Canal, and that Friday is the worst possible day to navigate back and forth from the Hood Canal. I then leave two or three messages for Casey (the point guy as far as preparing my order is concerned.) Naturally, I am wanting to move things up a day or two, but Casey does not return any of my calls. I'm then told once again that my order is scheduled to be done on Friday. I tell the fellow on the phone that I will be in either Monday or Tuesday to collect it, as Friday is a nightmare for Seattle/Hood Canal traffic. When I arrive on Tuesday, I am greeted by a gentleman who immediately complains that everyone wants to pick up their order on the same day and at the same time. He then informs me that I was supposed to pick it up on Friday, as that was what I said I was going to do. As I really wasn't looking for an argument, I simply told this fellow that his version of the story wasn't really accurate. He then argues with me before helping me load the material into my SUV. Please note that it was only a 27" x 25" piece, and no special material handling equipment was necessary. He simply had to pick it up off a table and slide it into my vehicle. Took about two minutes (if that.) Now, why he had to carry on about me not picking it up when I supposedly said I would, (which of course wasn't the case,) and trying to make me feel bad is anyone's guess. What he succeeded in doing was making me feel bad that I picked Stone World to deal with. For my part, I simply told him "All's well that ends well." I didn't come into his store with a chip on my shoulder demanding why he didn't have it ready for me in a timely manner, or asking for an apology that nobody called me back. What was the point in telling me I was a bad customer. If he was trying to convince me never to shop for stone at Stone World anymore, then that's exactly what he accomplished. By the by, never even got a thank you on that day for my business.

I got a recommendation from a contractor I've used, which ultimately led me to Fantastic Floors. I also got a couple other quotes just to see where everything stood on pricing as well. One thing to note is having just moved we had a lot of furniture/stuff that had to be moved around during the process. I got a hold of Fantastic Floors and Joe came out and did some measurements. On time, helpful, very detailed and honest about what to expect. I had an idea of what I wanted to spend as this was a decent sized job... 2 bedrooms/office/upstairs hallway and landing/downstairs entryway/hallway/kitchen/dining room and living room. We also wanted carpeting on the stairs. We picked out what we wanted for flooring and carpet, Sandra was nothing short of amazing, and we were off to the races. The quote they gave was right on par with what I was looking to spend. It was a big job and there's always the possibility of issues coming up and this was no different. The timing of this job roughly took 2 weeks because of unseen and unfortunate circumstances. It was a little challenging for all of us but Sandra and Joe came through and got the job done. They even threw in some rugs made out of carpet remnants, that we got to choose, as they felt bad on the length of the job. Needless to say the floors came out amazing. Sandra, as mentioned earlier, was amazing to work with from beginning to end and Joe made sure everything was done to our liking. He initially told me that they're not the cheapest nor the most expensive, they'll usually fall in the middle somewhere but they'll go the extra mile to make sure you're happy with the finished product... they were right. I can't recommend Fantastic Floors enough and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. If you're looking to update your flooring, give them a shot... they're definitely worth it.
