Tom Yum Soup had way too much MSG :'(
    Pam Y.

Service = 5 stars, Food = 3 stars. (The lunch specials are probably the best options here). We had the crispy tofu to start (this was pretty good) and the Tom Yum soup - loaded with MSG & really not good :'(. Lunch specials: Chicken Basil & Chicken w Veg. The flavor was good but the portion was kind of small - however for $12.95 if you're on a budget this is a really awesome deal. You'd be hard pressed to find something in this price range nowadays. I think for a quick weekday lunch that won't break the bank this is a great place.

There aren't many Thai restaurants in Torrance, California but Ubon Thai Kitchen is a great choice when you've got that craving for Thai food. The restaurant is quite small and you may have a tiny wait. The service is impeccable! All the staff are very friendly and they are hustling to serve you quickly. I'm panang obsessed, so that's always gonna be ordered. Panang curry is creamy and perfectly spiced. I couldn't stop scooping rice so I could ladle more of the delicious curry onto it. The pad Thai (with pork or other protein) was silky smooth. The portion is generous and the noodles are slightly moister than most restaurants. Very tasty. Lastly spicy eggplant with chicken (or other protein) is made with black bean sauce complemented with basil, peppers, and onions. This would make a delicious and nutritious weekday meal. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service is amazing.

I've tried many Thai spots, and Ubon Thai in Torrance is the one I remember least. The food is okay, but nothing really stood out.

Surprising hidden gem with distinctive Thai food! I haven't had Thai food similar to this spot. Nice location, super convenient to eat here whenever we go to costco. I haven't had the best luck with Thai food in Torrance so this is my favorite spot in the city now! It is pretty poppin for a hole in the wall. But that's a testament to the good food, and they're always quick, kind and helpful. I would say the standout menu item at this store are the noodle soups. They are so homey - hard to describe, but I feel so good after eating them. 1. Boat noodle soup: 5/5 2. Pad Thai: 5/5 super fresh and flavorful. 3. Ubon noodle soup: 5/5 4. Panang curry: 3/5 the first few bites were good but I got sick of the flavor soon after. To be fair, I don't think I like curry in general as much as I used to.

I've easily become addicted to this little gem! It's the best flavored Thai food I've had so far. The front staff is always incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everything is just right. The lively sounds coming from the kitchen adds to the charm and energy of the place. I can't recommend it enough! P.S. get the blended Thai tea

Haven't been here in a while, but the food is still really good. The yum woon sen glass noodle salad came out a little bit too salty this time. I noticed that they added more glass noodles, but they cut back on the lettuce portion. The pad thai with chicken was cooked perfect perfectly this time we really liked the balance of flavor. Pad thai and pad see ew are always a classic favorite with us. The yellow curry chicken has improved a lot. I like that they cut the potatoes into smaller cubes and added more chicken into the curry. The servers are friendly and very quick. The restaurant is still the same casual and a relaxing atmosphere good for individuals and groups. I would recommend coming here if you're craving Thai food. They're one of the few places that's really good in the Torrance area.

Hello, i'm allergic to shrimp/shellfish I was wondering if i would be ok to get a pad thai here (if not its ok)?

Yes you can order. Our’s Padthai doesn’t contain any shrimp/shellfish, unless you order gluten free Padthai, so we will use fish sauce instead. Please tell us if you have any allergic to any kind of food. Thank you

With that being said, this is a beyond solid choice for hainan chicken. Delicious. The place is minimal service--you order at the counter and they take it to your table. There is also a self-serve large pot of miso soup off to the side. I appreciate that the dishes come in real plates and silverware which makes the eating experience slightly elevated even though it isn't technically a full service set-up. They also have many options on their menu including Ramen. The food is good and I highly, highly recommend. Please support them if you love this type of food and you're in the area. Also, I saw a good amount of take-out being picked up when we were dining in, so I would assume they do well in that arena either.

There's complimentary broth at the side wall. The broth was pretty good. The chicken came out, and was a bit too chewy and probably overcooked (had a dry feeling to it). Also, the rice seemed a bit clumpy. It was a bunch of food though. Probably will pass next time around.

When we arrived it was apparent the "chef@ was also the hostess. As a result we waited quite a while to be greeted and seated. I should note that the chef did arrive about thirty minutes later. I ordered the Waan Om Khom Kluean yellow chicken curry and my guest had the deeb Sao Thai Pad Thai with shrimp. I also ordered a Thai ice tea and the server forgot to bring it. I had to remind her after my meal was almost finished. To me the chicken curry had a terrible unappetizing presentation. It looked like shredded chicken and big lumps of potatoes. In fast that's what it was. While the taste was pretty good, the over abundance of potatoes felt like a filler for less chicken. It was a decent dish but far from one of my favorites. The Pad Thai looked a lot better. My guest said it was good, not great, and that he'd order it again. Now to the price. Nearly $70 including the two dishes, one Thai ice tea and rice. This was not fine dining. I realize they have bills to pay but it was much more than I've paid at other Thai restaurants for similar meals. All parking is on the street. One need a bit of courage to park on PCH as passing cars make it scary to open the driver's door. Cars were flying by in the 40's and 50's and it's a very unsafe parking location.

Our larb salad was painfully salty to the point where it couldn't be enjoyed on its own and the kang kio wan curry was somehow watery and bland. Both the pork and beef were overcooked and tough.
