I enjoyed moving with U Pack. I moved from CA to Ohio and the process was easy, quick and simple. I ordered the truck, filled it up, they picked it up without me needing to be present and even delivered it to the storage facility I was renting a unit from to unload my stuff into till my house was ready. They picked up and delivered my U Pack on the days they said they would. The men who dropped my U Pack off and picked it up were all very friendly and helpful. I did have a few issues. They are not good at communicating with you when your truck will be delivered or picked up. They say the driver will call when he is on the way, that does not happen. The stuff the driver tells you and the ladies with customer service tell you are different. I would trust the driver. The customer service ladies I spoke with all but one were rude, short, and not very friendly. U Pack really needs to re train them, or fire them all and replace them with customer service reps who are helpful and kind. Honestly, I was extremely pleasantly surprised with my moving experience!! I got quotes from just about every other possible moving company out there, and u-pack gave me the best deal. Some of these other companies were quoting outrageous prices. And the ones that had cheaper quotes were either companies that had bad reviews and people reporting that they tacked on lots of charges after the fact, or services that would have very small sized containers where I wouldn't be able to actually bring all of my things over. U-pack had the best combination between good price and getting the job done as it needed to be. Obviously you still have to have your own movers, but it's completely worth it. When it came to the storage truck being dropped off at my first location in Long Beach California, there were some complications with the truck fitting near my storage unit as well as city regulations in LBC. At first I was worried because they didn't think they could leave the truck anywhere close to where I needed it, but I spoke with a manager who helped me with a game plan, made some suggestions, helped me find movers and adjusted my quote to a lower rate for that moving company to bring my things &'pack it at the u-pack storage facility near by instead. I really appreciated the good customer service. They also gave estimated delivery dates that were reasonable, and then ended up being way ahead of schedule and getting my things to my new city across the country in less than a handful of days. What lifesavers. We moved from California to Texas. Pricing professional movers was about 25k. I had always used Pancho's Moving because they are very careful and pack to avoid damage to glass inset and mirrored furniture. He couldn't travel to Texas (but does other states) suggested ABF (UPack) . They are uber professional, courteous, helpful in guiding you to the process. Truck was delivered and picked up on time. You then track the location of your truck so you know where your stuff is. Best of all, it's safe and secure because they only park overnight at ABF facilities. Drivers never leave the truck unattended. DO NOT PACK THE TRUCK YOURSELF. Hire professionals to do it. Forget about movers who contract the job out. Find a smaller company with long-time employees. Why? A team that have worked together work efficiently and have packed all manner of items. There is a lot of vibration, things shift. Minimizes the risk if your packing crew is experienced. In the greater Los Angeles area I can't recommend anyone better than Pancho's Moving at 818 400 3855 for moving and/or packing. read more

The trailer arrived to new home also as scheduled, about 11 days later. When we unloaded, we called for pick up and empty trailer was picked up following day. We had no issues at all. Service was good and the cheapest I found, almost half the price than pods. But the scheduling for drop off and pick up could be a lot better. To drop off the first time to load, they give you a 4 hours window because they only get paid as soon as they drop off. Then it is a 12 hours window to pickup and 10 hours window to drop off again! they should keep the 4 hours window all the way to not make people waste their all day! read more

Don't give uhaul, Penske, budget or a full service moving company your time---they will only rip you off like they did me. I called ABF in a huge panic on the day of my intended move after a moving company wanted to charge me $20K to do the move after quoting me 7500. Overall my experience with U-Pack was good! I liked the convenience and scheduling. The drivers were very professional and great people to work with. The dispatchers were also very helpful in communicating arrival and departure times. My only issue is with the handling of my trailer. It was moved many times from pick-up to drop-off, and even loaded onto a rail car. As such even though the contents were secured very well some items shifted. Some of the shifting could have only happened from an extreme jolt to the trailer. It also seemed as though there was excessive vibration of the trailer which caused a lot of superficial and cosmetic damage to many of my belongings. I had purchased and used 16 E-Track ratchet straps to secure the contents and more than 50 moving blankets to protect my belongings. I spent three days loading the trailer being very careful to ensure that everything was secured and protected properly. I can only imagine how much more damage would have occurred had I not been so diligent. If I had known in advance that U-Pack was going to load my trailer onto a rail car and also transfer it to other shipping companies then I might have considered other options. I would have preferred that the trailer was driven from point-to-point rather than being handled by so many different entities. read more

Best and most affordable moving company! Each person we dealt with along the way was helpful and friendly, from the phone assistance when I had questions, to the drivers who picked up and dropped off the trailer. The trailer was dropped off in front of the house and we called a few days later when everything was packed up. Within a couple days of us being in our new home the trailer was dropped off and again we had numerous days to unload at our leisure. We used almost the entire truck and the price was still hundreds of dollars less than any other quote I received. I highly recommend this moving company and would not consider anyone else if I have to move out of state again. It is a huge trailer, so I was required to get city parking permits for my home in California, but each area is different. The rolling door and ramp are also very heavy, but if you have some muscle it's no problem. read more

There was a bit of a hiccup on the arrival of the containers when I needed to be packing them but after a phone call from a very panicked customer (me) they made every effort to get the pods to me and gave me a discount because of the missed delivery date. When they were delivered to our new home, not a single thing was broken or missing. The delivery/pick up drivers on both ends were fantastic - pleasant and efficient. I don't plan on moving again but if I do, I will use U-Pack again. It took all the stress off when we were between homes for several months and I knew my household goods were safely stored in a location near where we would purchase our next home. I thought these guys were ok. This review is for the origin terminal in Compton that picked up our Relo-Cube from Torrance. I got a quote for a relo-cube going from CA to NJ that was slightly less expensive than their main competitor. So I went with them. The price is determined by the miles traveled by the relo-cube from residence to local origin terminal to destination local terminal to final residence. I never had an issue contacting customer service. Scheduling a relo-cube delivery and pickup was easy and they were generally on time.You do have to be there for the delivery as you have to show them where to park the relo-cube. A small forklift carries the relo-cube nimbly into the parking spot of your choice. You sign the paperwork and you pack away at your own pace. Call them when you are ready for it to get picked up and you don't have to be there. Keep in mind to understand the limitations of your parking situation. Luckily we had a nice driveway to park the relo-cube, but if you have street parking, you might want to check with the town to see what permits you might need. Also, they offer the option of renting a portion of a tractor trailer if you need more space than a relo-cube can hold. I didn't go with this option because there was no where to put the tractor trailer. Think it through please. Overall a pleasant experience. Would use these guys again to move if you like to move at your own pace and not have to do everything in one day. read more

It felt good to know our belongings would remain on the trailer that we loaded in Long Beach and not moved into containers. The secret is in the packing. Pack tight and secure. We had a lot of glass items including 4 china cabinets and all made the trip safely. Nothing was damaged. U-Pack also stored our items on the trailer for 3 months. A bit expensive for the storage but understandable given the need for moving equipment at during Covid. We recommend the service. read more

Great experience moving across the country with U-Pack! Our ReloCubes were stored at this location until we were ready to have them delivered. The customer service at the call center setting up the move and at the locations in VA and CA was excellent. Our new home has a small driveway that could only accommodate 2 cubes at a time and we had 3. The team at this location worked with us to deliver 2 specific cubes (we needed our bed!) on the first day and deliver the 3rd one later. The only feedback I would have for improvement is that the cubes were labeled A, B, and C at some point after pickup instead of using the numbers on the side of the cube. We didn't know which ones were A, B, or C. This caused extra work for customer service and dispatch to determine which cubes we needed. They worked it out though and delivered the 2 cubes we needed first, which we appreciated very much. If you go with U-Pack, properly loading the cube is important. We watched the videos on their website and used ratchet straps to secure our items. We also hired movers to pack the cubes who were familiar with how to pack them. Our items arrived undamaged. After going through a few shipping companies for estimates, I am so glad I found out about this service, through Yelp Talk no less! This service greatly helped me and my wallet for my move from California to Texas. With this service, you are given the choice of either a 28 foot trailer where you pay by the space you use, or a number of pods based on how many you need. The trailer is cheaper than getting a few pods, so we went with that. Also the trailer is pretty tall, so you get a good amount of space available. You are given a minimum cost (around $1500) and space (7 feet) and for each additional feet you use, you add about $120. If you end up using the whole 28 foot trailer, you can expect to pay no less than $4,000! This is such a great deal compared to other shipping companies where they can charge you double, literally! I believe this is pretty cost efficient because you pack/load and unload/unpack yourself (hence the name "U-Pack"). There is a ramp on the trailer to help load/unload items. If you want some movers, you can request it for an additional fee for 2 hours, I believe. With the trailer, they drop it off and can leave it for up to 3 days, depending on how long it takes you to load. When doing this, ensure that you contact your city parking enforcement to let them know about your trailer/pod on your street. If you plan to only load in a few hours and don't want to keep the trailer overnight, you can do a "live load" where the driver stays and waits with the trailer while you load, and then drives the trailer away when you are done. With the "live load", they charge for every hour it takes you to load after the first hour. Once we were done, the trailer and our belongings were on its way. It was great to be able to track the truck online! Our stuff arrived at the Dallas facility within 3 days, and when we got to Texas, all we did was call U-Pack to bring the truck to our new home. They left the truck on our street (again, contact your city parking enforcement) and from there we unloaded our stuff ourselves. We were given again 3 days to unload but it only took us a few hours. Once we were done, we called U-Pack and they took the trailer while we were away. Overall, we had a great experience and I would definitely recommend this service to my family and friends. This was such an easy, simple and cost efficient service to use! I will definitely use this service again when I move! read more

I used straps, bungee cords along with bubble wrap and blankets to secure my load. It arrived intact and everything looked good. He yelled at me you don't own the parking in front of your house so we can put our containers where we want. Very bad customer service I would never consider using this company. 5 stars and I highly recommend anyone that wants to move with a pod/box/cube! Everything about moving sucks - but everything about moving with U-Pack made it suck a lot less. First - I listened to 40 + brokers and other cube/box movers give me prices and multiple quotes, etc. U-Pack sent me an email with a quote, sent me ONE email and that was it. I really appreciated them not hounding me. Ordering the cube/box was a breeze, and the instructions were very clear. On the day of the move, a couple of friends and I showed up at their location in Compton to load my stuff in the box/cube, and while we were capable of moving everything ourselves, on two occasions a stronger guy (just randomly working nearby) would run over and give us a hand. They must've asked us 5 times in the hour we were there if there was anything we needed help with. It was awesome. My box/cube arrived to Tampa in the time they quoted, and the location in Tampa was just as accommodating. U-Pack has a great system, and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone. read more

I recently moved from the Los Angeles area to the Denver area. Delivery of the empty PODS to my CA address - they gave me an 8-hr window of when the truck would arrive (from 8am-4pm) in which they made me wait all day til 3:30pm. I told them I didn't have a place yet in the Denver area so I would pay for storage for my 2 PODS at $300/mth. They said, "no problem, when you find a place, let us know and we'll deliver". The contract I signed said that if a city or zip code change occurs, then additional charges may apply. I found a place 24 miles east of Denver and when I notified them they said, "oh, we don't deliver that far east". Wait! What happened to the additional charges?? Charge me accordingly, but don't tell me YOU CAN'T DELIVER THERE. They said, "yeah, it's outside of the radius in which we can deliver". I said, "How was I to know there was a radius when the contract said you'd deliver?" I went up the corporate ladder and spoke with Mike. He stated that if I had found a place NORTH or SOUTH of Denver, he would deliver my PODS himself...but they have no trucks that drive EAST. He said, "there's nothing I can do. You need to rent a truck, come over to where the PODS are, offload the PODS into your truck and deliver the stuff yourself. I mentioned to him the power of social media and how word-of-mouth can make or break a business and he told me to "do what you gotta do". I went to their Facebook page and blasted negative comments all over it and the next day all those comments were deleted. Long story short, I had to back out of that lease and find another place to live - within the Denver city limits. read more

I was able to order cubes on very short notice. Everything was delivered as promised and picked up promptly. The driver worked with me to arrange cube placement for easy access and optimized placement. Everything went well on the delivery end too. The drive knew the most optimal placement of the cubes. Billing was exactly as promised. This is absolutely to most economical way to move across the country. Having friends help with the loading and unloading on both ends really makes a difference. Most important thing is to spend lots of days ahead of time boxing things up in same size boxes. read more

They came to pick up on time called ahead, they delivered on time also called ahead and even though they had to go up to oregon through california with all the fires. ABF lies to our faces multiple times and now our containers are sitting on a city street over night when we arranged for a same day drop off and pick up MONTHS in advance. Moves are stressful enough, but U-Pack manages to add on another very stressful layer to the mix. I would consider another of the many companies if you are looking to move. U-Pack partners with ABF Freight and both companies excel at errors and poor customer service. At my move out location, they delivered the truck with a broken ramp. The movers almost injured themselves, and finally tried to move without the ramp, which proved to be impossible. I (and the movers I was paying by the hour) had to wait over an hour for another ramp to be delivered. This was nothing compared to the shocking customer service I received at my delivery U-Pack and ABF office. I called promptly to pay and schedule (and confirm) my delivery, however the delivery was never scheduled after I got off the phone. I paid for movers to be ready the next day at the supposed delivery time, only to call and find out they were not coming. ABF was rude, and reluctantly agreed to deliver that evening or early morning, still without giving a final time of arrival. I had to pay a penalty with the movers for the rescheduled date/time, and when I called U-Pack, they were even more unhelpful. Overall the customer service was atrocious and ABF put me on hold but later told U-Pack that I hung up on them after cursing at them! I was truly shocked at the lie and the customer service with U-Pack and ABF - on top of having my move botched and paying extra money to reschedule the mover. Not worth the headache and hope this review saves someone else the trouble. read more
