If management is going to be strict and demanding with customers, shouldn't they be equally diligent about maintaining the facility? How do you collect hundreds of dollars every month from tenants, yet make it difficult for them to access, organize, and retrieve their own belongings? The real issue isn't the policy--it's the lack of communication, professionalism, compassion, and basic customer service. My favorite part of this entire experience was being sent multiple emails, and paper given a copy of documents and within 1pm-ish to 1:50-ish essentially being told: "Here's the paperwork. You have 30 minutes. Go." Then later being told: "Well, you sat down." SIR/Lady ... whatever you identify as... --I,sat down because I was trying to read the paperwork YOU just handed me along with the 3 emails lmfao I also have documented back issues that require me to sit periodically. Standing for extended periods while simultaneously trying to review notices, take notes, advocate for myself, coordinate transportation, locate business supplies, and pack a 10x20 storage unit is not exactly a reasonable expectation. What exactly was I supposed to do? Read legal notices. Process multiple emails. Take notes. Pack an entire storage unit. Locate business inventory. Coordinate transportation. Advocate for myself. Manage a disability. And somehow clone myself? And now cancel meetings! All within 30 minutes? At some point I wasn't "sitting down." I was trying to understand the instructions being given to me while being rushed through them. Apparently reading the paperwork was the wrong answer. Maybe next time I'll bring three assistants, a forklift, an attorney, and a time machine. Management appears far more concerned with enforcing rules than providing the service customers are actually paying for. Communication was poor. Compassion was absent. Professionalism was lacking. I'm sure the company's founder never envisioned customers being treated this way. The signage is misleading, the customer experience is frustrating, and the value provided does not match the price being charged. Consumers deserve transparency, professionalism, and reasonable access to the property they pay for every month. Take your money elsewhere. Modern-day robbery disguised as customer service. NO,stars. Tested my Gandhi and raised my cortisol levels and mental health along with trauma from the loud banding on the door given my severe Mental Health notice and disability. DO NOT GO TO THIS U-HAUL LOCATION. We booked a reservation for Sunday 03/01 at 10:00am. Got the location to pick it up and NO ONE WAS THERE. They did not even give an option to retrieve the key from the lockbox. I wasted another hour trying to get another u-haul same day. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE AND UNACCEPTABLE. I needed to rent a truck last minute to haul some trees that I purchased at the nearby Armstrong nursery. I didn't make a request online and showed up in person to ask about the availability and which trucks could be dropped off at another location. Anona was the one who helped me and she was awesome! She knew all of her inventory off the bat and was quick and efficient. I love efficient people who know what they are doing! The service I got from Anona was 5 out of 5! I was bummed that our only option was a pickup truck that we had to return to this same location. I was hoping for a truck that we could return closer to where we lived, but they were out of stock and for that, I marked down one star. I'm always scared that there are hidden fees with these places. Luckily, entire rental process and return was simple and straightforward. Anona did advise us that they close at 7pm and if we returned it after that time, there are ways for an extension so it doesn't incur an additional fee or else we would be charged $20 for the convenience fee. I felt everything was explained to me and they were upfront about everything so I can't say that everyone's experience here is the same as me. I returned the vehicle same day before closing and paid the price I expected to given the mileage that we knew from the start. The property is always super clean. The staff and management, Andrew and Anona are outstanding! I can not say enough about how fantastic my experience has been throughout the 8+ years I have been renting here. I've upsized, downsized, added extra units when I've needed to. I've rented U-boxes, Uhaul trucks of various sizes, when necessary for my changing needs. They make it easy to do for everything you might need. Transactions are easy and efficient always. They have plenty of self serve options on their App to make transactions anytime that's convenient for your schedule. So, I'm merely going to suggest that anyone dealing w this location for the purpose of renting a vehicle....make sure you check the final receipt emailed to you at the end. I prepaid an 8 hr rental of a 10' box truck on Sunday w the simple instruction of just bring back and drop the key in the box. My return due date and time was 1/2/22 @ 10pm. It was there @ 8:15 pm. Had a visit today to see about rental. The lady was professional but very short and snippish. I complained about how just rented for 3 days 26 foot long driving both ways to Long Beach for $180 and didn't understand how charging $160+ one day one way. Regardless, they had the vehicle available at 1pm which is a win and reason not giving 1 star. Plus realizing she's in a tough spot and trying to practice empathy bumped up as well. I rented an enclosed uhaul to trail across the country when I moved and I came to this location. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Not only did I pay for extras that I didn't receive (I.e. dolly) but I also paid a lot of money for the uhaul. When I drove through snow, I had no idea that the entire carriage was leaking and I wouldn't find out for 3 days as everything I owned became soaked beyond repair. When I dropped the uhaul trailer off I voiced my concern with one of the workers to which he took it upon himself to look at the uhaul I rented and proceed to tell me that the lining definitely wasn't sealing correctly and that the uhaul shouldn't have been leaking like it was. File a claim with insurance - it'll fix everything, right? Nope. Their insurance company claimed that the trailer was in perfect condition - despite working in an office (in another state) and never having to see said trailer with their own eyes. read more

Sunday morning. I had reserved a U Haul van to go pick up some furniture in Santa Monica. The dude told me to be there at 10am since that's when he said it would quiet down some. So we get there at 10am and there was a long ass line. We waited and waited while the 2 people helped all the people in line. I was getting really impatient. I mean why don't they hire more people if they knew there was going to be a barrage of people on the weekends? So finally, after 40 mins it's our turn at the counter. The whole process at the counter was pretty swift and we were out the door and on the road pretty fast after that. I had booked the van @ $19.95/day plus 59 cents/mile. I had anticipated that from Irvine to Santa Monica and back would be approximately 120 miles. So when we returned the van, we got gas refilled -- only $15 worth -- if you don't fill up, they charge you $30 refueling cost plus the cost of the gas. When we got up to the counter, the guy told me that since we went over 100 miles, it automatically readjusts and gives us a break on that. So I had anticipated paying around $150 but ended up only paying $101 and some change. So, in the beginning I was only gonna give them 2 stars because of the awful start, but they get an extra star for saving me money!!! read more

Especially russell who was very helpful in answering our questions and getting us checked out even when a rude customer was standing there yelling at him. Terrible, terrible service and facility. I made an appointment to have a trailer hitch installed and had a confirmed time which was then again confirmed by a test from U-Haul that morning for a 9:30 appointment. The lady on the phone told me it would take approximately one hour. When I went to my 9:30 appointment I was told it could take up until 5 o'clock before my car would be ready. I explained that I had an appointment, they responded that it is a first come, first service facility, and that they do not go by appointments. The assistant manager Annona, and the general manager were both very uncaring, rude, and just not good people. They made no effort to accomdate me considering that it was U-Haul's mistakke to give me an appointment. Just no humanistic compassion. Makes me depressed and to lose faith in people. read more

OK, the first thing I noticed about this UHaul are the dudes outside waving at me. I though, "Wow, what a welcome. How did they know I was coming?" Then it dawned on me, "awwwwww, they want me to hire them to help me move." lol Well, they for sure do not have a lack of guys to help. To be clear this is NOT A 24-7 ACCESSIBLE STORAGE UNIT. They said unless you conduct business out of it, but they do not tell you that when you sign up. Despite the building, sign, and brochure all saying it's 24 hours it isn't. YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCESS IT AFTER 7PM UNTIL 7AM. It's all a complete lie. If you need to EVER access anything after 7, don't use this. The manager will also play dumb and say "who told you it was 24 hrs?" "Um... the building literally says so. So stupid. read more

Smooth as it gets. I've rented several U-Hauls over the years and have had many different experiences. This one was stellar. I reserved a cargo van online about a week prior. This is a huge benefit, as the cargo van is easier to drive, maneuver and cheaper than their other offerings. It also has nearly as much storage as their smallest truck. All the other times I've moved, I could never find a location with a cargo van and got stuck with the more expensive truck. The pick up was a breeze. They had my paperwork up and running in no time and I was out the door in about 10 minutes flat. My van was clean and had just over 10k on it. No one tried to upsell me on anything. I do have to mention, though, that there are a ton of day laborers in the parking lot (think Home Depot). I don't have an issue with it, but it may surprise you. The return was even easier. Because I used my credit card, I just pulled in, someone gave me a form to sign and a receipt and I was done, took almost 2 minutes. They were a little cheap on the gas though. I had just filled it up and the needle was OVER the full line, they indicated it was at 7/8ths. Make sure to fill it up, or you'll definitely get charged. Overall, a great experience. Smooth and quick. Everyone should be like this place. They've got their process down. read more

I had the worst experience ever. Their system is so bad that not only it'll waste hours of time, they barely can look up your storage units and reservations. I reserved a unit and they cancelled it for no reason. I called, since they didn't have the same size anymore they promised me the larger unit with the same size. I rented their truck took everything there, guess what! They said no you have to pay the full price! Like they never ever promised anything! The funny thing is that they could see the note that the customer service told me I'll get it with the price of the smaller unit that I had and they canceled it for no reason. So next time I'll prefer throwing everything away rather than giving a dollar to this company. Have been waiting to hear from them for my claim... pretty sure they won't call me cause they were supposed to call days ago. read more

This is a very well run U-Haul. I have used it to rent trucks twice in the last month to move office furniture around and both times the trucks were available right when I needed them. I did not end up needing to reserve them days in advance, The service was also quite good. read more

This is one of the best run operations! The people are professional, knowledgeable about moving and friendly and efficient. If they had not mentioned to us that we had no ramp on our smaller truck, we had rented an appliance dolly and would have had a nightmare to load everything. Thankfully, they helped us out. The check in and check out process is fantastic. They know how to handle customers and get you in and out quickly. I would highly recommend this location if you are thinking of moving. I got my truck to this location at 5:02 when they close at 5:00. I did the self return, which was fine with me, but 10 minutes after I had arrived another tuck arrived. The men working inside came out and helped this customer because he was paying cash but refused to help me because I was paying with a credit card. Literally the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I rented a box truck recently to move 13 miles to another apartment. I looked at the paperwork after I picked it up and the gas needle on the paper was a little higher than the needle in the truck. So I'll have to put a little extra gas in - no big deal. The needle in the truck jumped all over the place the whole 26 miles I drove the truck. I definitely put more gas in it than I used before returning it, but of course they charge me $20 for returning it with less gas. SO, I start trying to call the store to talk to someone about it. If they don't answer in the store, it goes to a call enter in the Midwest. Of course they couldn't do anything to drop the charge, but they said a manager would call me before close of business that day. I waited and no call, so I started calling the store in Costa Mesa again and again, finally talking to somebody there! But there wasn't a manager in the store and they promised they would have the manager call when they came in that afternoon. No call. I drove to the store during my lunch break to chew them out and resolve the $20 charge, but there was no manager there and I was promised another call that never came. So, I gave up trying to discuss the issue with U-Haul and disputed the charge on my credit card. Sure enough, my next statement showed a $20 credit. Thanks American Express! I think these guys are liars and cheats. I do NOT recommend trusting your stuff with them. They almost auctioned off my storage stuff without telling me, until 2 weeks after my stuff was "removed from the auction." When I found out, they told me it was because my payment didn't go through when I had called to pay two months earlier (never happened). They also said they called and emailed me multiple times to tell me my stuff was going up for auction (never happened). It is all really quite astonishing to me. read more

I had a long haul trip with a 26 foot rig and a car on a flat bed tow and various mechanical issues popped up en route. When I arrived exhausted at this location to drop off the truck and the tow, the guys were fantastic. They helped me off load the vehicle, gave me water and aspirin when I had a terrible migraine headache, and went out of their way to ensure that my loaded truck stayed safe on their lot for a extra day while I ran around town searching for an apartment. I cannot believe how great the manager Tim made this experience - - it was not what I expected from UHaul and not what I've experienced at any other UHaul location. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!! This company does business for U-Haul near Newport Beach, CA. On November 2nd I went to the above mentioned company with my husband to get a U-haul truck that I had reserved 4 days prior in my name to move my mother. We arrived, there was a big line, we waited our turn (even though I had an appointment made online) then a man named TIM FOUSE CLARK called us. He asked me my driver's license and credit card (platinum American Express) which I provided. He continued putting/checking my information on his computer, and asked me a contact phone number which I provided. He then said "I am calling you now". I said "well that is my home phone number, so I will not be there". I even mentioned that the day before he had called me and spoken to me. In a bizarre behavior, he then asked us for a cell phone what we did not have with us at that moment; we were moving furniture and boxes. He continued saying loudly in front of at least 20 people that we SHOULD have one, he needed to call us. He even made fun of us in front of everyone (very humiliating experience). He said "hahaha no cell phones?", like we were lying. He made look like that today is MANDATORY to everyone to have a cell phone ON YOU. He continued to behave erratically, agitated, screaming at us, and we were trying to be reasonable during all times. I even suggested that I could go home, so he could call me. He threw his pen over the balcony demanding a phone, I feared for my life at that moment, he was very aggressive. I then perceive that I had to give this man at any cost a phone number, so I gave my mother's, who is a very sick old lady (79 years old), so he could call. After all this harassment I asked him for the manager and he said it was him, then I said "I want to speak to the owner then", he said it was him. Wow!!!! read more
