This place is atrocious. Musty with a strong scent of mold in certain hallways. I moved out of my apartment without having another one lined up so I was forced to have to move everything I owned, my entire apartment into a storage unit. I needed a larger unit as I had a lot of crap and large pieces of furniture. I opted for a 10x19 unit located in the far back right corner of the property, next to the flag pole. As you enter the building it was an end unit on the ground floor, 1st locker on your left. It was not your usual roll up door for a unit of that size, instead it was a huge wooden door that swung all the way open, a large enough space to move big items through. Unlike the unit upstairs that are constructed out of wood beams and metal sheathing, my particular unit was completely surrounded by concrete, every wall asthe floor. Located on the ceiling was a pipe that spanned about 1/2 the distance of the locker. read more

Came in this morning to just possibly get quotes and ended up leaving with a 5X10 unit. I wanted to make sure I was comfortable and if the location was clean. The location was clean ! And the staff was extremely nice and made me feel comfortable and not just out to get my money! The service from Isabel and Adan was excellent! Isabel is the office manager and greeted me with a smile and hello which I loved and Adan helps run the lot and makes sure the grounds are clean and safe. Thank you to both of these employees! This place is so much bigger than it looks! I was so stoked to get a unit last minute before they closed. Their technology is high tech and makes it so easy to rent. Someone broke in and stole items from my unit by tearing down the sheet metal wall between their unit and mine. I emailed management and received no response. The maintenance guy told me to upgrade my unit to one with better walls. I upgraded to a drive up unit, but then management got offended when I drove 5 miles over the speed limit. I told them they have their priorities mixed up and should focus more on protecting out storage units from theft or at least respond to our emails about it. Their response was to evict me the next day. The original management was awesome: Husband and wife. The new management (Isabel), well.... ya... not so great clearly. read more

As we live overseas, it was imperative that the facility be secure, clean, dry and have a friendly voice on the other end of the line. I ordered and paid for a 10' x 20' ground floor "outdoor Access" unit. When I looked at the unit it was inside (and a long way down a hall inside), and it had a tiny door the size of typical bedroom door. When I told them this was not what I purchased, they said what I wanted was "drive up access". They call mine outdoor access even though you go inside to get to it. They would not return my $564. I found a true outdoor access unit with a large door that I could drive my truck right up to. Buyer beware with this Stor-it company on 17th Street in Costa Mesa. read more

I've been paying this storage unit for almost 4 years while being sick in northern ca... my bf went into it with my spare key in may and found mice... they said they would take care of it. I went to the location a few weeks ago and everything was INFESTED with rats!!! There were three dead mice on sticky traps and every single thing I owned was covered in feces ( poop pebbles, throw up, pee, diarrhea). They refused to even talk to me about it, let us throw anything in they're dumper, nor even give me a paper towel when I originally showed up. I can't even go in there because of my health. The maintenance guy told me that more than three other people complained on that floor. So I paid you close to $5000 to wreck almost $50,000 of property???? read more

So I'm getting back from Nashville since I went to stay with family during COVID (I've been gone for 5 months) to all of my things absolutely covered with mouse droppings. I've had to throw away so much of my stuff that was in bags, some of my cardboard boxes have been chewed through. No food or water in my unit so not sure why I have an infestation. Called and asked for $10 late fee to be waived this 1 one time due to Covid-19 crisis and being low on funds, my request was denied! Cannot believe the owners are this insensitive. WOW...truly just wow! I will not refer anyone to store anything at this facility. The place smells bad and the owners are cheap not to waive a late fee during these difficult times. Want your stuff stolen? Wish I knew the truth about how the management has changed this year. I found out half my stuff was stolen when I went to my unit yesterday. Apparently theft is rampant and upper management could care less. If you want your stuff stolen, I highly recommend storing it here. I posted pictures of the blatantly broken into lock latch which management said did not in any way make them think there was an issue (besides the fact that the burglars left stuff hanging out under the door and management didn't think anything of that either.) They claim they walk the units almost everyday and yet it only took me one second to look at the damaged lock latch and know I had been robbed while it looked normal to them. I was told the police would need a subpoena to get video footage - clearly management doesn't care and does not want to help. They just want full units and are happy to rent to anyone even if they look like they might be a Thief. The great former managers left after saying there were 15 thefts in a few months due to corporate demanding they rent to anyone. read more

The new management team are horrible. Wendy and Kelly are lazy and provide the worst customer service. I wish old management is back. No matter what the lady writes underneath me from Stor-it, I was there well before 6:45. More like 6:40. I called 2 hours ago to verify the time they'd be open. I drove 1 hour to put more stuff into my unit and they locked up 10 minutes early. DO NOT DEPEND on these people. Now I have to drive all the way back. A month ago, I came to put stuff in my unit and all the carts were locked up. I asked to unlock them. Wendy and Kelly just sat in their lawn chairs saying they were closed. Lazy assholes. Kelly probably had the key on his key chain, sitting there right in front of me smoking a cigarette. Worst customer service ever read more

I have to say, Stor-It Self Storage came through!! They were very nice on the phone, and when I came in, I got a free lock to go with my new storage unit. Recently, I had an issue regarding my late charge, and after talking to them, the fee was waived.. It's pretty rare to get such great customer service from most businesses these days... Not only did they allow me to do that- they were extremely reliable, accommodating, and forthright. Wendy and Kelly keep the entire facility clean, safe, and I never had to worry about my belongings; they run a tight ship to ensure everyone who comes in uses their passcode, and the same upon exiting. There was nothing ever recovered or returned. The police were helpful. They think guy who broke into several units was already in jail when our unit was robbed. Basically the units are designed in a way they can be broken into even with locks on. read more
