Not the best place! The owner has her dog roaming all over and on all the furniture! It's not a sanitary place at all! I was disgusted even walking through the door. Not good quality work coming out of that place at all. I'm shocked they're even in business. They put the polish on soooo thick and another time was so thinly placed you can see the nail bed. This was most likely the best experience I've ever had getting my nails done (spanning 30 years!). Ty and Gina (my tech) were extremely fun, knowledgeable, skilled and professional. I chose her salon in Branford, CT, first, because of her company name (I love candy!) and because of the photos posted here on Yelp. This review should be given extra weight mostly because I avoid writing reviews and because I am one of the (possibly) few women whom does Not typically enjoy sitting still long enough to get my nails done. I had a full set of the amazing pink tips put on and was gleefully (another first-I've Never used the word 'Gleefully', lol!) surprised when I was informed they have the much coveted Chrome polish. It's something I've been seeing a lot on Pinterest (along with a lot of women I know where I live & travel to visit my family (from Maine through NH, MA, CT, RI, NJ, NY & PA). I'm sure one of those states offers chrome however I don't see myself sitting down long enough for what was, essentially, a 'pit stop' to get my nails done anywhere else but here at Ty's Nail Candy. I was a long standing customer with Amber. I had canceled an appointment (2 days before) due to an important doctor's appointment that I had an couldn't miss. A week or so later I got a text from Ty's saying "We noticed that you canceled a previous appointment and would like to know if you wanted to cancel this one too?". I really like this nail place -- I just moved to the New Haven area so was looking for my nail spot. Ive been here once, about 2 mths ago, and the gel manicure was great. I noted the work they were doing on others and they are really talented ie doing tip designs even 3d and acrylic specialty work. Some say it is pricey but the prices are normal/fair in my opinion for the quality and specialization work. You need to expect tips, often acrylic, that take around 1.5hrs with that kind of detail to run you in the $75 range (or maybe im used to that coming from nyc). I would definitely advise making an appointment and best to do this atleast a day ahead of your intended visit. Also, I had my eyebrows waxed by Felicia and they came out perfect. I had not read reviews contrary to this prior to my visit so didnt have any preconceived notions and was very satisfied with the wax. I am used to upscale salons in NYC and would place TYs on a comparable basis in terms of talent with a better value in my opinion. The staff is overall friendly and the environment is welcoming. I have an appointment for specialty tip work tomorrow so will be sure to update if my experience is anything but 5 star when it comes to getting this type of work done. :) read more

Ty is an energetic, enthusiastic, caring and compassionate woman who cares immensely about her "Nail Girls" whether you have been a Nail Girl (or guy, I guess) for a day or for a decade. She works tirelessly to make sure you are happy with your product. After getting my nails done with Ty, I find it hard to go anywhere else. The prices are extremely reasonable especially as Ty stays on the cutting edge of nail trends and new techniques. I regularly get my natural nails done with gel polish with Ty. (We're talking every two weeks, here. Like I said - I'm addicted!) Her gel manicures not only last, but Ty does just as many stunning nail designs in the gel as she can do with regular polish.
