I came to Sami for the first time for a Brazilian after the previous person in the area I using moved to a different location. I wish I came to her sooner! Sami did such a great job and her prices were so reasonable! I was somewhat new to the bikini waxing thing, so when my previous waxer was doing a decent job, I didn't really know any better. Sami did such a better job, and well... she was may more "thorough" in making sure no stray hairs were left behind. She does not do artificial nails, so if your ghetto fabulous with long artificial nails this is NOT the salon for you. She uses the whole CND line from the undercoat to the UV lights. She is a CND expert and very interested in the CND line. She has a beautiful shoppe that lets you forget that your in New Haven's hustle and bustle. I suggest you park at the 360 Market. Not hygienic - I was grossed out to see that the tools used on the customer before me were simply dumped into a huge jar of blue liquid and then used on me. Many people develop infectious from nail salons, and using proper sterilizing technique (via UV light or autoclave) is a must to keep from potentially landing in a doctor's office or hospital. --Addendum-- While flipping through in search of a nail salon open after work, I noticed a reviewer claiming to be a physician who wrote that it is "ridiculous" to comment on concerns over hygiene. Having worked as a primary care physician for the last 5 years, I'm amazed that someone who claims to be a physician would attempt to ridicule my comment. The number of abscesses I've lanced from manicures and pedicures using improperly cleaned tools, and the case of someone hospitalized in the intensive care unit for weeks after an infection from a manicure spread to her bloodstream and infected her heart valve are the things I've personally seen in only 5 years of practice. Please learn to be a little more respectful of other people's comments. read more

Sami is absolutely dynamic. Not only is she insanely talented at her work but she is a kind-hearted, compassionate, hard-working person. She has been doing my manicures/pedicures/waxing for nearly 2 years and I can't imagine going anywhere else. Her attention to detail is superb; she takes a whole hour to perfect your manicure because she truly cares! :) Moreover, there have been several times that I've chipped my nails before I was due for a shellac and she's managed to fit me into her packed schedule (read: she is quite popular, for good reason!) and fixed me right up. She uses the best products (CND shellac, CND vinylux, hard/soft wax) and keeps her colors in constant rotation. With advance notice (it takes her an extra 15 minutes) she will gladly put designs on your nails and/or hook you up with a fierce glamour nail. She did so for my engagement photos, wedding, and birthday. For my wedding party, she allowed me to book her studio for 7 hours and my bridesmaids and I had a blast! We bonded over mimosas while Sami was diligently at work crafting phenomenal nail creations that got just as many compliments as our respective wedding/bridesmaid dresses. I noticed below there was a comment that questioned her techniques being hygienic - as a physician I find that absolutely ridiculous and unnecessarily critical! I have been regularly seeing Sami (every 10-14 days) for nearly two years and have never had an issue/infection/problem of that nature. She is meticulously clean/sterile and keeps her salon organized. TL;DR - I stand behind her work! She has a good heart, pours her soul into her flawless work, and will not disappoint! I was greeted, based on a single telephone call when I made the appointment, like a lifelong friend. Sami is fun, personable, and talented. When we spoke, Sami encouraged me to bring my own implements if it put my mind at ease. I did, but I can assure you it absolutely wasn't necessary. I am very reluctant to visit nail salons, due to all of the horror stories I have heard, but can't wait to go back here. I was visiting New Haven and my daughter suggested this place for a pedicure.. I'm always a bit nervous trying a place away from home but it was perfect. The salon was very clean. The soak was in a large copper basin so I was not worried about any problems that you might find with the more traditional tubs. It is a one person business so an appointment is needed. Sami was quite comfortable to talk with and gave a terrific pedicure. My feet were very smooth and the polish was applied perfectly. It was a very relaxing session. I was going to get a brow wax too but she recommended against it (my brows are fairly sparse). Instead she filled them in for me with a brow pencil so I could see how it should be done.
