Nice clean space, and consistent good quality gel manicures that actually last. The cat eyes are pricey but so pretty. I tend to call ahead but they are generally quick to see you even as a walk in. read more

Color Spa & Nails - Regular gel manicure - Nail Salons Near Me - Hamden, Connecticut

I come here frequently and the service is Always great. Sue, Sam and the team are amazing. Quality service!

They were very personable, and inclusive. I brought a photo and it was replicated to perfection.

The staff was pleasant enough but it smells Terrible in there. Not terrible of nail products but of funk and musty. The smells hits you as soon as you walk in. I only stayed because I was tired and didn't feel like driving to another salon and there was no wait. Unfortunately the smell steeped into my skin and nails and it took a ton of different remedies to get rid of the smell. My gel manicure was ok. Nothing special for $37. Most places in the area charge $35 with a lot more enhancements and pampering. Nails chipped in less than a week. read more

Susan is the BEST! I travel for work and I fly to Hamden, CT once a month to get my nails done with Susan. She does the best French mani you'll ever have. Very meticulous!!! Her son also works here, he's great. She has a good crew working here. Very friendly. It's worth the wait if it's busy. read more

They accommodated me and two friends walking in on a Sunday afternoon and their service was great. I got a gel manicure and my technician was polite and very careful at every step, applied the gel base, three layers of the gel and the top coating. The place is a little run down, but they seem to try to keep it as clean as possible. The prices on the handouts don't match the current price they charge for some services, so you need to check their board before assuming the prices. Some people here mentioned the lack of sterilization, and, while it is true I didn't notice them grabbing tools from a bag, they did have sterilizers on their shelves, so I'm assuming they sterilize their tools before each use. read more

I have been coming to color nails for about 4 years now. Susan is the BEST and she always does an incredible job. Everyone that works there is very polite and respectful. They all take their time and go above and beyond to make sure your nails look good when you leave. I usually get powder dip nails and they last 3-4 weeks. The salon is very very clean- I feel very safe there especially during the pandemic. 10/10 recommend! read more

I got the best gel nail and pedicure deal in June. $35 for Mon-Wed servoce. I couldn't believe it. The lady who did my nails was courteous and profesional. The polish lasted 3 weeks. Imagone my chagrin when I go back a month later and another lady refises to honor the special and tells me $50. I waited for a Tuesday. Left work early and she refused to honor her advertised price. She currently has a dry erase board that she can change at will. My advice, before the service begins, negotiate your price because the woman she was working on when I asked her was also surprised about the increase. The pkace is clean. The furninshings a little dated, but they will do a great job. They just need to get the pricing together. read more

How is this place open? The lack of sterilization is astounding. While the lady that did my nails was nice, nice only gets you so far, especially when you are considering health and safety. When I arrived and the mail tech began to work on my nails, I was taken aback that the tools she used on my nails did not come from a sterilized bag, she pulled them out from a draw. By the cakes on nail polish from other users, I don't think these were cleaned...ever. What was also bothersome was the machine she used to dry my nails also looked like it was in need a of cleaning. What also left a bad taste in my mouth was how rushed my service was. She was working on my nails, answering the phone, and working on other people as well. She did a top coat on one hand but not the other. If I dont get a staphylococcus infection from this service, I will be impressed. read more

This is my second visit to this salon and I can say that they did not disappoint. I've lived in CT for almost 3 years now and have yet to find someone who leaves me completely satisfied after a manicure and a pedicure, but Susan does just that. The salon itself is a little on the small side, but that adds to the quaintness of it- you don't feel like you are being rushed through your service and out the door. They are all very friendly and take their time to make sure the service is done right. They have gained me as a regular read more

I wanted to give this place a supportive review in light of how tough business is in their industry, with people afraid to go out and nail salons on every corner. BUT: they reuse disposable emery boards and nail buffers. Needless to say I wouldn't let the tech near me with the unwashed sharp metal tools. And her hands were kinda dirty. I won't go back. Caveat emptor. read more

All the Ladies are very nice!! Susan does my nails and she always do a great job. Safety is being used.

Got a manicure and pedicure for $30. They cut my cuticles too close and a few bled. They also did not cut sides of nails for ingrown nails. Kept pulling tools out of drawers instead of sanitized bins or packages. Good massages, wax treatment was nice, hot towels were nice but again, towels kept coming out of random containers. read more

This was my first time at Color Nails and it was DEFINITELY MY LAST! If you want a horrible overpriced manicure make sure you go here. The staff was friendly however they were extremely unorganized. The manicure I got was as they refer to it a powder gel (also referred to as powder dip and ANC). The man who did my nails was clueless on the removal of my previous manicure (same kind) using a nail tip to squeeze off the other polish like I would do myself at home. When it came time for the dip he had no idea how to apply the new color and which polishes to use which I even knew from the years of getting this type Of manicure. The nails that you see pictured clearly are uneven and the polish job as well as the shaping is sloppy. When the man finally finished I was disappointed and when he told me the cost I was astonished! $50 for a manicure that I've never paid more than $35 for. Definitely not worth it!!! If the man knew he could not have done sufficient job I would've rather gotten a gel or polish manicure and had it actually be worth paying someone else to do it for me. DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

Pretty decent place! Love the trendy decor and the huge selection of Opi colors. It's on the small side, so most likely you'll be waiting if you're a walk in. You'll get a hand and shoulder massage with hot towels, hot stones, and warmed lotion with a manicure. The lady that runs the place is super sassy (in a good way). The only downside is parking. read more

i've been to this place a bunch of times, and while on the sliiiightly pricier side, they do manicures, pedicures, and waxing just fine however today i went for a color gel (opi axxium) manicure and had a pretty crappy experience. the guy clearly had no clue what the heck he was doing. my nails are kinda jagged, the paint job is shotty/faded looking on a few nails and he had the nerve to take a cigarette break in the middle of this botched job. also, he charged me to take off the previous color gel manicure, which no other salon has done. bottom line: don't go here for a color gel manicure, they haven't figured it out just yet. read more

This has been my spot for manicures, pedicures and eyebrow waxing for several years. I used to go to another salon but it became too pricey. At Color the cost is reasonable (only $10 for a regular manicure) and they do a pretty good job. On the rare occassion that I have not been fully satisfied they are understanding and willing to correct at no cost. I love that they are open seven days a week and accept walk-ins or take appointments. They have even stayed open late to finish the services I request or have had more than one person attend to me (manicure and pedicure) if I'm crunched on time. read more

I have been coming here for mani-pedis for many years and have never been disappointed! I highly recommend Susan, she is the best!!

Always friendly. My manicure and pedicure have always been to my liking. I love the new pedicure chairs. Been coming here for a long time.

I have been a customer of Color Nails for over 5 years! They are truly experts of their craft. I consistently receive compliments on my manicures and pedicures. Not only do they keep my nails looking great, but keep them healthy! Prices are very reasonable and you can beat the Specials! Best shop in Hamden! read more

Terrible service! Hair in the foot drains of the bowl. No communication skills. This was not relaxing. Most stressful pedicure. No clean towels. Limited color selection. Had the gall to be expensive. Don't waste time energy or zen in this place! read more

Horrible. Not very clean. No massage. Slowest woman painting. Overly filed. Gel was uneven at the base so it looked like my nails had already grown out. And on top of everything, charged tax on gratuity which is against the law. Would NEVER go back. read more

The might do okay work, but... they are rude!!!! They don't talk to you or they talk Korean

This place was the worst nail salon ever. I had polish all over my skin, took forever to do gel nails, and the paint job was horrible it looks like a 2 year old did it. Don't want your time or money. read more

I went there maybe 5 times for a pedicure before my nails started to turn dark. I ended up at a podiatrist who told me I had toenail fungus which most likely was caused by instruments not being sterilized. I have never gone back to them or any other place like that as I again cut my own nails. Lesson to be learned. read more
