EAST HAVEN, CT salon behind Twin Pines.
Rose's Nails opened late 2020 and I've been there every two weeks since it opened. Rose does a fabulous job making my hands pretty. I stopped wearing all my rings except my wedding band, since my habits have gone to the recommended Wash Your Hands Every Time You Think About It, and taking my rings off each time didn't seem worth the trouble of remembering where I'd lain them. A nice manicure goes a long way.
The salon is very clean upon first impression, and after you've sat there for a while you'll stay with that conclusion. There is a great air filtration system. No dust, no chemical smell. Rose's Nails a great selection of colors in regular and gel polishes (easily a few hundred colors), and nary an air brush compressor in sight.
The waxing room is separate (a nearby salon waxes its customers' eyebrows in front near the window). It's bright, with lots of plants. Plenty of free parking; and last winter the parking lot was in good shape.
The two pedicure stations are separated with a moveable acrylic barrier. There are large, light decals on it so there's no leaning into it by accident. Nice touch! The basins aren't just sprayed down after use; the drain strainers are removed and hand-scrubbed between customers' turns.
The bathroom is sparkling.
Rose packs an awful lot into a small business! I usually go on Tuesday afternoons. There's always someone before me and someone after me, but there's no backup in her lobby. She currently takes appointments.
My hands always look lovely, even though I keep my nails pretty short. Pedicures are important in sandals weather. It may seem like a luxury to someone who doesn't include manis and pedis in their grooming routines, but it's an important part of grooming to a lot of us - and a clean shop is the difference between whether something happens subcutaneously.
I followed Rose from a Branford salon because she does a beautiful job, and she's clean and neat. My mom used to judge a nail salon not only by the quality of the work but also by the quality of the clinician's station.
I personally judge a business by its quality and by the way I'm treated. There are nail shops all over the place. Why should I go somewhere that will treat me decently if I can go to Rose's Nails and be treated far better than "decently"? I feel like a valued customer every time I walk through the door - on my way in and on my way out. read more
