I researched Yelp and seen that this place had good reviews. I didn't make an appointment but knew that I wanted a manicure and my toes painted. I was told I could only get one (which I was going to just walk out) but I decided to go with the manicure. The tech did a good job. As it was time to leave I was at the register next to another customer that asked if she could get a pedicure. For some reason they wanted me to pay prior to her (maybe because they were going to do her pedicure). I paid and waited for that customer to leave behind me. Never happened. Let's just say she most likely received all her services she requested. I won't return because this was my first time not getting all the services I requested. I don't want to say they were bad but what's right is right. Had I gotten all my requests I would've given them another chance. My first time there Went in for a regular pedicure. It was evident that the older woman doing my nails did not want to do them. I tried to make small talk to stop the awkwardness...but she wasn't interested. The quality of my nails were okay. I go to pay and $5 is added to my regular pedi price. When I questioned it I'm assuming the owner? The only man chimes in and states that it's because they had to remove my old gel. I can't control what businesses charge for but at least disclose that to me prior to starting my nails. I have been to many nail salons in CT and have never been charged for removal of regular polish or gel. This business prefers to serve a certain demographic and if you don't fit that you will notice the difference in how you are treated. I will not be back. The vibe was off. I don't deserve to feel that way when I'm spending my hard earned money...especially for subpar service. They could improve on treating everyone who walks through that door white, black, or orange the same way. They can also disclose if it's an additional charge for something which will give the client a chance to continue with the service or leave. read more

I am writing this review for my wife. My wife was trying to make an appointment that day to find a place that would fix her nails. She called two different places, MJ nails being the one that gave her an appointment. We live about five minutes away from the location. Well my wife left to go to the nail salon. She accidentally went to the wrong location and realized her mistake, turned around to drive to the proper location. It was about 10 minutes out of the way, and she also called them in the meantime to explain her mistake and that she would be a little late. Nobody answer the phone. She then showed up in person to which the gentleman behind the counter told her that she could not be seen because somebody walked in that was getting their nails done right in front of her and he gave her her spot because she was late, my wife said that she understood it was her mistake and that she was sorry made an appointment that day with the gentleman to come in the next day to get her nails done. My wife then showed up the next day got her nails done by Lena and her nails came out beautiful. She absolutely love them and wanted to make that place her nail place. Fast-forward couple of weeks later which is today my wife calls them at 10 o'clock in the morning to make an appointment and there's no answer she then proceeds to try and call them all day long with no answer. I get home She asked me about 6 o'clock if I would do her a favor and call from my phone because she was busy doing something, they immediately answer. I tried to make the appointment for her, the gentleman who answered the phone told me that basically he was purposely not answering her phone calls because she was a no call no-show. This is not true. She showed up that day late. Apologize for her mistake as I said previously made another appointment showed up to it and got services rendered. I reminded him of this to which he politely more or less called me a liar, would not acknowledge the fact that he was wrong and made a mistake and then kept referring me to make an appointment online so if she decided to be to be a no call no-show again she could get charged. So I said why do you keep saying no call no show, when she was not a no call no show she showed up. She got her nails done when she was supposed to the second time and also showed up the first time 10 minutes late and explained to you what it happened and apologized so you are wrong. Your information is incorrect and you were confusing her. I'm assuming with somebody else who was a no call, no show, but I asked him why he wasn't being professional and answering the phone and explaining this to her at 10 o'clock in the morning to what she could've corrected him earlier and this could've been dealt with much Earlier he proceeded to ignore my question. Talk down to me , pacify me with remarks that make no sense saying he didn't want to revisit the situation instead of admitting that he was wrong and then hung up in my face and refused to answer the phone when I called back and I believe the gentleman is the owner so I would not recommend going there I've also read a bunch of reviews about people having horrible experience with the nail techs and the customer service. Find someplace else. There are plenty out there that are better. read more

5 stars all the way! Kevin was great at helping me make an appt for 4 services with 2 people. It is very clean. The clientele was very nice. The nail artists we had were so funny and did a great job! I had Kim and LOVED her. The prices were good. The spa pedicure was either $50 or $55 and elsewhere I've paid upwards of $85 for similar services. This will be our go to place! I always get awesome nails from here, but the pricing is wild. I understand you get what you pay for but I pay a different price every time I go and I always get the same thing (just a set one color nothing fancy). They have the prices listed at each stand, for sure not accurate pricing. I get charged way more. The prices on their website, not accurate. According to their website a soak off ($15) and a new set ($50) should be $65, they charged me $90. Even with taxes it should no way should it be $90. read more

The place was clean and the staff was professional. The nail tech did a nice job assisting me with color selection and giving me the design I requested. My cuticles were a little ripped up after the treatment though. The prices were a little higher than surrounding spots and they are still having customers wear masks. MJ Nails is simply amazing! Not only is Kevin so meticulous with his acrylic application, he also uses good products and is up to date with popular styles and colors. He accommodated my walk-in the day before Christmas, but he also was very pleasant to sit with and is obviously detail-oriented. I loved my nails so much I scheduled my next appointment before leaving the salon. Everyone has complimented me as well, which makes me feel good about going to this new salon. I have been going here on a regular basis for over a year and have been pleased every single time! After moving to Connecticut from out of state, I struggled to find a nail salon that was of high quality, but once I tried MJ Nails I never had to go elsewhere. I am able to make my dip manicure (on natural nails) last 3 weeks. The color selection is phenomenal, whether you want regular polish, gel, or dip. If you have a design, they are great and replicating and will be honest if they do not think they can do it. Everyone that works here is very friendly and professional, while still being efficient. I typically see Jenny or Kevin, but what I have seen of the others is great as well. Popped in for an underarm wax this afternoon and was taken care of right away. Did a great job in a back room that seemed hygienic and wasn't the standard closet space sized waxing room you get in a nail salon. It looks like they do lash extensions back there too! The woman who did the wax was professional and friendly. On a weekday at 1pm, all the nail techs were busy so you might be better off making an appointment. They had a row of spa pedicure chairs and the nail tables had plastic dividers to be covid-safe. There was a dedicated receptionist who helped me and processed my payment. There is a sign that cash is preferred (obvs) but they didn't mind my paying with a credit card, though I did tip in cash. The underarm wax was $20+tax btw. My nails look great, but my nail tech Lina was rude and disrespectful. She was throwing things around, rolling her eyes at me, and very clearly talking bad about me to the other nail techs. When I walked into the nail salon I immediately asked one of the people working there if they can do a certain style of nail art and they said yes. When I get seated I showed the nail tech what I wanted and she said she couldn't do it (she was new) and she also said everyone else was booked. I ended up asking her for square shaped plain black acrylic nails and she couldn't even do that. They are all mismatched shaped, some have dents (from the acrylic not being smoothed out), she got nail glue all over my fingers, and she cut my fingers with nail drill. After all of that they tried to charge me 80 dollars even after I made it clear I did not like the way the nails turned out. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

In a word...AWFUL. I went in at 5:45 on a Friday looking for a manicure. They have their hours posted as being open until 7 PM. Having arrived at 5:45, I thought it would have been plenty of time for a simple natural nail manicure. At first, when I walked in they said hello and asked me how they could help. I explained what I was therefore and was told that they had already accepted their last client for the night. Odd, considering the time. I questioned them noting that it was before six and they close at seven. The manicurist then said "well if you can wait 10 or 15 minutes I will take you". That was fine so I proceeded to sit down and wait. The young lady at the desk never spoke to me never offered me water, or anything. After 20 minutes I got up and I walked out. UPDATE: I am sad to have to write this, but this has, by far, been the worst experience that I have had in a mail salon. Jenny texted the entire time, glued the tip to my skin and proceeded to shove her nail into my skin to detach it, gave me crooked nails that I repeatedly had to correct her on, blamed ME for the crooked nail which resulted from her cutting and filing, and even had to tell her to compare the matching nails to each other. I left with uneven nails, imperfections on my nails, and a horrible experience. Management offered to fix my nails, but I don't have the time to return nor do I have the trust or patience to rearrange my schedule to do so. No offer for even a slight discount or refund. I share this here to at least warn you against getting services with Jenny whose 9 months in the biz, coupled with an uncaring attitude and inattention to detail, will be sure to keep me from returning. read more

Salon is very clean, however customer service not so good. Got a gel manicure one day, day and half later two nails chipped (never had happen before). I called to see if I can get them repaired I was told they're "too busy" I took it upon myself to show up 10 minutes after I called and there wasn't a customer in there. They repaired my nails and two and a half days later they chipped again. I've been getting gel nail polish for YEARS and never had this happen. I am so happy I didn't have to pay full price! read more
