They weren't rushed or annoyed about it either. The whole staff was friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in, and I could tell right away that they take pride in what they do. Heidi, my pedicurist, was exceptional. She was kind, attentive, gentle and thorough, and she took her time with every step. I left absolutely (and literally) tickled lol. Clean, professional and really caring service. If you're anywhere near Meriden, this is the place to go, and ask for Heidi. I'll definitely be back.

I haven't gotten my nails done in a long time however I had gone quite frequently in the past to an amazing nail technician and place. One - it's very cold in there. Not too pleasant when you're sitting there for nails, and wearing fairly warm shoes. Two - the "quick dry" spray doesn't dry. Not to put your coat on isn't an option in the winter in New England. Having a place to dry your nails needs to be in place or atleast communicating to your client just sit here for x more minutes then we can check them. And lastly a smooth looking nail is expected when you pay for nails. I do my nails all the time at home the only different is that smooth finish you hope to achieve by a nail technician. The simple nail art did come out beautiful. Honestly, the salon itself is a no for me altogether with a less than average experience. I don't recommend it. I can be more specific of other issues but I honestly don't like leaving these kinds of reviews. I think the salon owner needs to pay more attention to details while there are far too many nail salons to choose from that capitalize on one of these issues. Maybe it was a bad first experience but i won't be returning.

Her shop is located in the Phenix salon suites (go right past the front desk and immediately take a left, she's at the end of the hall on the left). Her space is well maintained and she is nice but the five stars are for the extremely (and I mean *meticulous*) thorough Brazilian wax she gave me. I am not a stranger to waxing as I have done it for at least a decade, but she made sure no hair was left behind, using hard wax and then strips to ensure my happiness. I was thoroughly impressed. I prefer sugaring but I didn't have any of the skin rawness that sometimes happens with rushed jobs. She is on par with other waxers in the area like Tommy's. I highly recommend her.

It was easy to get an appointment at this place online through google. I don't come to this area of Universal Drive that often so was not very familiar with the place and google map led me to the other side of the road and it took 4-5 minutes for me to figure out where exactly the location was. Upon entering the main entrance, there was a receptionist who helped me find the salon as there are a few salons/stores inside the building. I think they all charge a bit higher than other local salons. The place itself was super clean and I was in and out in no time. The salon is more like a small room with just one person working and she can accommodate only one customer at a time. When it comes to the service and the overall waxing experience, I found it pretty average, and would say I have got better services for much cheaper price.

I followed her around until she moved out of state and thats when I decided to give HD another shot. The staff is VERY friendly, not a gossipy crew at all. The client's ages range from toddlers to the elderly, which I think says a lot when you consider some have been going there for well over 20 years. My stylist listened to what I wanted and tried her best to work with my difficult hair when it came time to blow it out. I was NOT fond of her styling technique at all, but she gave me a good cut. I dont think they've convinced me to return as a loyal customer, but I would consider returning if I needed an emergency cut. Pricing is inexpensive - moderately expensive, depending on the degree of service. I had a cut, wash and blow dry and it was $60 (should have been $50 - apparently it was an additional $10 to blow out my thick hair...and it wasnt even completely dried and the style was sub-par). Parking is convenient and easy access to/from the Merrit & 91.

Given my horrible experiences with other area chains, I decided to pray and go to this location after seeing Jenteel P's review. This location is the best one, honestly. Front desk is nice and communicates like normal people, it's clean and smells nice, you don't wait forever for people to get ready. I can honestly say that Tyasia is the truth, you could fall asleep and wake up 7 minutes (!) later completely done (it is really that gentle) and it lasts. If you have coarse hair it you will not be disappointed, she knows what she is doing and is very thorough. I am grateful for Jenteel's review, and hope you will patronize the Hamden location, they know what good customer service is.

My waxer was phenomenal, made me feel so comfortable and kept me laughing the entire time! She truly is great, which is why I won't include her name. I was told I could only get one (which I was going to just walk out) but I decided to go with the manicure. The tech did a good job. As it was time to leave I was at the register next to another customer that asked if she could get a pedicure. For some reason they wanted me to pay prior to her (maybe because they were going to do her pedicure). I paid and waited for that customer to leave behind me. Never happened. Let's just say she most likely received all her services she requested. I won't return because this was my first time not getting all the services I requested. I don't want to say they were bad but what's right is right. Had I gotten all my requests I would've given them another chance. I must say the price was reasonable and there were many nail polish colors.
