I was in New Haven just for the day for work, hoping to find a walk-in place to get my nails tended to. Every other salon I could find had no openings for several days, wouldn't do gel, and honestly seemed offended I would even ask when I called. So I walk into this place by the train station, and it looks like their equipment might pre-date the Clinton administration; all the colors are mixed in bins, they don't even have a sample book, and there's no AC. But the two ladies on staff helped me choose a color and did a fantastic job. I get frequent pedicures, and the pedicure tech found and removed calluses I didn't know I had with the dexterity of a surgeon. I didn't feel a thing. The manicure tech gently removed my old color and applied the new one with enough layers to make it opaque but kept the nail remarkably thin. The vibe was very welcoming and more than made up for the less-than-friendly treatment I received calling New Haven's "upscale" salons.
