Super happy!!! After reading tonnes of reviews from TXR and other places, I decided on this one out of the honesty I have read about Greg. As stated when I called, I asked how much it would costs for him to put a USB port (50$), and he said I was just better off getting a lighter adapter with two USB slot for 12$ somewhere cheap. He didn't have to tell me that (that is what I have now). He could have just said "Sure come on in." and charged me to put a port in. I was already overwhelmed calling a few places for my car alarm. I just wanted a basic alarm. The other places tried upselling me. Greg asked me a few questions about my vehicle, tells me to come in Monday when I want and drop it off for 2-3 hours and it should be done. No hassle. I recently upgraded to a newer car and needed my system switched out from the old to the new. greg is great at communicating and got the job done quick however, two days after he installed the system my engine light came on. it slipped my mind that the speaker installation is what was setting this off until my car started dying whenever i was stopped at a light or intersection. when i took my car in they were alarmed at the fact that my AC filter looked mangled and wiring to the battery was half ass, causing my battery to die on me constantly. i had to pay for ride shares for days and had to pay for the damage he caused. read more

Id would be unjust to not leave a review of my recent experience. I could have sworn I had several blown rear speakers in my car. I literally called and was like, just fix them, whatever. I was quoted a decent amount. Brought the car in and left behind with the utmost anticipation of my new, amazing speakers. Greg (I assume your name based on the other reviews) called me up and was like "there is nothing wrong with your speakers." I was a combination of pissed (because I wanted new speakers), shocked (how could they not be blown), but mostly really appreciative of the honesty. I rarely write reviews on Yelp so when I do, believe it. I called Greg in to get the passenger side speakers on my truck replaced. The quote I received sounded about right after asking around at a couple different places. I was turned down at Best Buy as they refused to only swap out the passenger side speakers. I decided to gamble on this place after the good reviews here on Yelp. I showed up and he asked to take a look at the problem. I like to consider myself a pretty tech savy guy but was put to shame after missing the most simple problem. The issue was my AUX chord needed to be replaced. He could have easily said to leave the truck and ripped me off by simply replacing the AUX chord. His honesty will for sure make me come back here with other cars I have. Greg is great!! I found this place when I needed a shop to check out my AutoPage Remote Start Alarm as it was acting up... I called over 30 shops and none said they could look at it as AutoPage isn't around anymore:(.. I finally call Greg at TXR and he to bring it in and he can take a look at it and said he isn't sure what it will cost till he takes a look... That was great!!! I left the car there in the morning 8am and then picked it up after work and it was all fixed.. it was some relay/controller and the total to fix it was less that $100.00, sonI was thrilled... Now I have my remote start and alarm all working well again.. I was so happy I came back for some minor work on my Yukon... I had Greg replace my stock cigarette lighters and put in 2 dual 2.1a USB ports.. These are great as the older USB adapters kept getting loose and then the phone wouldn't charge properly... No issues now, plus he kept the original cigarette lighter just in case I sell the car and the new owners want it, or for some reason I end up needing it... read more

I wanted to get an auxillary jack for my Ipod put directly into my car stereo, so I could drive to Kansas with musical freedom. First, I went to Custom Sounds because it's a block away from the crib. They priced the job at $300. Like whoa. Waayy more than I expected. "Lemme get back to ya", I replied, and quickly made tracks to TXR.. Within a few minutes, I had an estimate of $200. Now I'm no mathematician, but it seemed to be a better deal at TXR than at Custom Sounds. On my day off, I dropped off the G-ride and waited with some friends down the street. WIthin 3.5 hours, I got the call that my car was ready. Not only that, it was $189, not $200. Right on, right on... I jump in and jam the Ipod, and all is well in my car... Until later that night when I tried to change functions on the stereo to radio, cd player, and back to the Ipod. All hell broke loose. I couldn't get it to do anything without using the steering wheel controls, and then it just turned off inexplicably. When I called up TXR the next day he told me to bring it in. What had happened was that when I picked up the car, nobody gave me any instructions on how to work the new input function. I must've pushed the wrong combination of buttons. After a quick tutorial and a copy of the directions that came with the new hardware, I was back on the road. Everything works fine now. Point is, they are fast and reasonably priced as always, but make sure someone there takes the time to explain your new equipment when you pick your car up. read more

I went in to get my speakers rewired on 300D Benz, 1985, as well as purchase a head unit and a couple speakers. I alerted the technician that the speaker wiring was a little tricky because these Mercedes had a built-in fader toggle that had to be taken out of the circuit. I even noted him that I could get the wiring diagram because I know this gives people some trouble. He said not to worry, that he knew what was up. Great. I picked up the car and the first time I turned the volume up a bit, not loud, just above conversation level, a steady buzz came from the front speakers. There was no balance or fade capability so I guessed that he wired everything through a single channel. I took the car back. He agreed to fix it at no charge, with the sheepishness of one who has jury rigged someone's car speakers. When I picked up the car, another gentleman told me my car would be ready in a few minutes. He disappeared and I waited for about 10 minutes and then became curious. I walked around to the install bay and my tech was sitting on the floor working on a BMX bike. My car was there with a battery charger hooked up to my battery. Why he didn't come up front and let me know what was going on is beyond me. We jumped the car and I went on my way. Then I realized the car still had no front/back fade. Ultimately I pulled he stereo and the center console, and with the trusty diagram that I offered him from the get-go, I rewired everything. This time he had all four speakers running off the two front channels. When I got things working, three hours later, the stereo sounded better than ever. No thanks to TXR custom car audio. read more

This review is long over-due. Back in June of 09' Greg hard-wired my Valentine-One radar locator in my new Saab. The installation went smoothly and I could not be happier. They were by far the most competitive and fair price of all the prices I called. -The install was only about $40 Would def recommend for any car installations based on my experience with them. Since then my wife got an 2010 Nissan Murano and Greg hardwired the Valentine 1 in her card bac in Feb of 2010 for about 40 bucks. I also got a new Infiniti G37 last July of 2010 and Greg once again installed the hard wire kit for my V1 in the new car. The install process is always pretty quick -usually within an hour while a wait. All the other places in town are complete rip-offs compared to what TXR and Greg charge at their shop. read more

I've now visited TXR twice: once to have them install an Alpine head unit in my wife's 4Runner in June of 2013, and again today. I should note that I did not purchase the Alpine stereo or install kit at TXR, instead buying it through Crutchfield online. While it seemed that they had done a good install initially, we've been having problems with the stereo for a few weeks now. When given the chance to take a look at the install to see if something needed to be adjusted, I was left standing around the showroom for over an hour during my work day, and finally had to leave without TXR having done anything to fix the problem, and after wasting over an hour of my life. I would definitely NOT recommend using them if you're not buying the stereo from them! read more

Greg is the best! I hardly ever am motivated to write reviews, but I've been using TXR for a couple of years and highly recommend them. I had a car stereo installed on my Honda CRV at another shop which then went out of business, of course just prior to my stereo wiring screwing up. Greg was able to figure out a very inexpensive strategy to fix it where he just as easily could have blamed it on the other guy and sold me new parts. I later had some window tinting done on my Hyundai and have been very satisfied. Independent shops like this are an endangered breed - well worth your patronage. read more

Best Buy tried to scam me into replacing all of the speakers in the car because they said you couldn't just install the radio that the stock speakers wouldn't work. I just purchased an Infiniti G37s and had no idea how to hook up an audio jack to play music from my phone. The car came equipped with the basic audio/video connection and an iPod connection, but no basic audio jack!!! I swung by today and it seriously took them 30 seconds to come up with a solution, and I only spent $5! I've also had one car tinted here and on another car they fixed heater seat switches that had been pushed too far in. These guys deliver!!! read more

Just got a fantastic Pioneer audio and video system installed in a new to me, Hummer H2. I worked with Greg who was a great listener as I had very specific requirements, such as front and rear cameras to help park the beast. How's this for a review: in removing my old stereo and replacing it with a new one, he cracked the dash in my 1990 Toyota Land Cruiser in 3 places. It gets better. He wanted to ring me up before I inspected the work so that he could "close early for the day," but I told him that I had a question about how he installed the new radio before he left. We went out to the car together, where I discover that he cracked the dash in three obvious places. At first, he denied knowing that it happened. But when I pointed out to him that his statement was ridiculous, given that the cracks were on the dash that SURROUNDS the radio he just installed, he then admitted to it and blamed the cold weather for the brittle plastic. It was at that point that I reminded him that I'd offered to come another day to avoid the cold weather (for this very reason) and that I recommended that he at least use a hair dryer or something to heat the plastic before removing it. In summary: not skilled, dishonest. read more

My Amp stopped working when I hit a big bump going down the highway. It popped the inside of the fuse loose so the damage was not visible. He figured out what was wrong, replaced the fuse and had me on my way quickly for a reasonable price. He also helped me figure out how to replace a damaged RCA jack. Bravo for your help. Got a cd player installed into an old car. The stereo wiring was all mangled due to previous owner's custom install and then a robbery. The guys are TXR installed my stereo for 79$ including a dash kit. It took very little time, they were very nice. I chatted with the owner of the attached window tint place for a long while. I had my amp and subwoofer's installed with the factory stereo in my 2013 Chevy Silverado. They were able to get to it and finished the same day I brought it in. TXR installed a back-up beeper and rear camera on my commercial cargo van. They provided an excellent estimate, but then reduced it by $50 and said it did not take as long as they thought. They even put in an "on/off" switch for the beeper at no extra charge. While the price was low, their work was excellent. I made an appointment, dropped off the van and picked it up two hours later. As I used the van for work, it was great not having to wait all day. I recommend using TXR! read more
