    Double egg pancake
    Mark L.

We stopped by here for breakfast, and it ended up being one of those places that totally lives up to the hype. Everything here feels super authentic. I ordered the double egg pancake and soy milk. The soy milk is handmade every day and tastes really fresh. The egg pancake was cooked right on the skillet by the window, which was fun to watch. Flavor-wise, it was a little bland, but the add-ons were making up for the flavor. The food did take a bit of time to come out since everything is made to order. It was definitely worth the wait. Would definitely recommend as an authentic Taiwanese breakfast spot

I was under the weather and wanted some hot congee.. I love pork and century egg congee the best so decided to try this new place out. The congee came super hot, even though I ordered off UberEats. The flavor on the other hand was a bit too bland to my liking. I also ordered the braised pork rice and was a bit surprised by the flavors. This one was a bit different from the traditional Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice I'm used to.. this one has bean curd mixed in. It was alright but not my favorite. I also didn't get the soy milk I ordered. Overall, the items were alright.. probably should've tried a rice roll since that's what they specialize in. Can't speak to the service cause I didn't eat in.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The food is superb, no doubt, but the service can be very slow. I've been here twice, once dining in and another ordering ahead for pickup. The first time I was here, I came with a small group. We ordered rolls for each of us, plus a small side dish. An hour went by, and we still didn't receive our food yet. I remember getting really mad and started standing right next to the pickup counter so I can ask for updates. Eventually, our food came out, but we had to take it to-go because we had somewhere to be. For the second time, we ordered ahead and was given a pickup window. We went, picked up our food, and left. It was easy, simple, and straightforward. This was the preferred way for us from then on. That said, they seem understaffed. I could only see 1 prep, 1 expo, and 1 cashier. During lunch rushes, the wait time is absurd. During off-peak times, I believe the wait time is much more reasonable.

Rice roll with egg, pickled veggies, & pork floss!

I am really happy with the prices here. My rice roll had egg, pork floss, and pickled veggies. The pickled veggies are very flavorful and really help all the flavors go together! Rice roll + a cold soy milk made for a nice snack and a great pick-me-up after work!

TX Rice Roll is a Taiwanese breakfast joint in Sugarland. There are limited seats inside, but everything was made fresh in front of you at great prices. I got the scallion pancake, traditional rice roll, Tao roll, brisket rice noodles, and double egg pancake. The scallion pancakes were super hot and crispy. There was also an ample amount of scallions. The rice rolls are filling. My favorite was the traditional rice roll which comes with pork floss, egg, fried stick, mushrooms, and dried radish surrounded in rice. The saltiness of the pork floss and crispiness of fried stick goes well together. The double egg pancake came out piping hot fresh off the grill and was light. The rice noodle broth was a bit blander than I would have liked, but the meat was tender. I really like how you can see everything is made in front of you. The food is very simple but fresh and at an unbeatable price.

I've been here many times with family and friends. They have two locations, one in Sugar Land and one in Houston, and both are fantastic. Everyone I've brought here has really enjoyed it. There is limited seating, but I've been able to find a seat every time. The line moves fast, and the tables get cleared quickly as well. You walk up to order, and they make the rolls and pancakes fresh right in front of you using fresh ingredients. I usually get the Tao roll, sticky rice, double egg pancake, and xiao long bao (soup dumplings). Once you order, it usually only takes a few minutes for everything to come out. The portions are good, and the xiao long bao are soft and super juicy. I usually wash everything down with their warm milk tea, which is very comforting and perfectly sweet. The space is clean, and the service is fast, making it an easy spot to grab a fresh and satisfying breakfast/lunch!

I wish they had a location near me in NJ!! The menu is simple, but it's quality over quantity. I got the original Taiwan Rice Roll with a hot, slightly sweetened soy milk. YUMMY! The rice roll is not too big, but big enough to be filling. I chose the original rice roll because it has two of my favorite things - the salted egg yolk and Chinese sausage. Note: they have a pork floss (which my partner calls "hairy" pork lol). They have a vegetarian floss as an alternative.

I got the eel rice roll from them, top notch. It was so warm and crunchy whilst having such a complex sweet and salty flavor in a simple rice roll! I ordered with my friends and we got our rolls within 5-10 minutes, very quick service! I recommend this for a quick and filling breakfast, but don't get it twisted their decor is very home style if you want to just relax and eat.

I'm so excited I found this place cuz I was recently in Taiwan and have been missing Taiwanese breakfast so much. I was still a little skeptical though and didn't want to have my expectations too high, but I was pleasantly surprised. I came here when they were nearly closed so I was only able to try their vegetarian rice roll, but I'm really glad they took my order because it was really good. It's a bit different from the fan tuan I had in Taiwan, and a bit more substantial, but still just as good. I'm not sure of all the ingredients that were in the roll but there was tea egg, lettuce, pickled radish, and crunchy stuff. It all complemented each other very well and had just the right amount of flavor. I really want to return and try their other things (like the salty soy milk).

The store isn't that big but it was nice and cozy and smelled delicious inside. We grabbed some fantuans and some sesame bings with egg and it was really good. It did take some time to get our food but we had a bigger order. The staff automatically spoke Chinese to us but when they realized our Chinese wasn't that good they switched he'd to English haha.

Was looking to try something new and interesting for breakfast and this place popped up! Easy drive from the Sugarland city walk. I came around 10 am on a Monday morning and it was pretty busy. There was a big party there that I think sort of out the kitchen behind so my order took around 15 mins because everything is made fresh to order, so I didn't mind! We got the Taiwanese and tao roll, and the egg pancakes. The egg pancake is HUGE- and my favorite thing we got. It's like an egg roll filling with hot dog wrapped in egg with big pieces of crispy friend wonton. Cannot beat that with a price tag of $5.75. The Tao roll was also HUGE- so much rice (both rolls actually). It had sausage and mushrooms and lettuce and mayo and beef floss and some other stuff. I really enjoyed it! I wish there was something with more crunch or acid for contrast in the rolls but good. The Taiwanese roll was huge as well but not my personal taste- it had a lot of meat in it so it was pretty greasy inside. But again, made so well, piping hot, and really big. I would absolutely come back again to try more options on the menu, and it felt authentic (everyone was speaking another language with the workers and was of Asian descent). A seriously great value!

From L to R: sweet soy milk cold, salty soy milk, fried bread, egg pancake, rice rolls

Finding Taiwanese breakfast is so hard (outside of Taiwan) that anytime I see one, I have to try it. The breakfast isn't the most traditional and would probably be considered mediocre in Taiwan but it's tasty enough to warrant a visit. The food is made upon ordering so the wait time can be long. While there's plenty of seating inside the store, it looked like most people opted to take their food to-go. For food, we ordered: One traditional rice roll and one black pickle roll - The traditional rice roll was not very traditional tbh. The fried bread stick inside was barely there and the addition of a hard boiled egg was unusual. However, if I view this as a rice breakfast burrito, it's an interesting and tasty treat. Sweet soy milk cold and hot - the sweet soy milk was a bit too sweet but the hot soy milk was just right Savory soy milk - missing points for authenticity and wasn't really my favorite item Fried bread stick - I would prefer this to be airier on the inside and crispier on the outside. That being said, I'd get this again Egg pancake - like a really thin omelet with stuff inside.

It's SO GOOD!! I am always craving it when I go back to Houston and it hits the spot every time. I usually get the tao roll but tried the other ones as well. I like the tao roll the best but the others are still good too. I also tried their double egg pancake and their salty soy milk with their fried bread stick and it was all really good. The service is quick and they make the rolls fresh. The inside is cute and has seating.

The portion size has gotten a bit smaller (inflation sucks), but the quality remains solid. I especially like the few slices of sausage and some pickled mustard greens, which help balance out the richness of the braised pork belly. If you dine in, they offer unsweetened black tea that's actually quite tasty. It's a no-frills spot--simple, quick, and dependable whether you're grabbing food to go or eating there. They also sell items like mung bean cake, which I love, and I usually take a couple home. They got a few tables to dine in and the staff are friendly.

I have passed by their restaurant many times, but it never occurred to me to go in until one day I was surprised to see them ranked in the top 100 ramen places nationally on Yelp! With less than 300 reviews, I was skeptical at first but was intrigued to give it a try, and I'm so glad that I did! I visited on a Friday afternoon right before New Year's and was greeted warmly by the staff inside. As I was indecisive on what to order in the ramen section, I asked the staff for suggestions. She was kind to walk me through the menu without rushing to get an order, and she mentioned that their most popular item is actually the beef noodles. That was all I needed to make a decision to try the beef noodles. While waiting for the food, I chatted with the staff and learned that the restaurant opened right before the pandemic then shifted their model to take-out only as the pandemic begin. Since then, they've tried to make use of their restaurant space to return to dine-in but it has been difficult to find reliable workers. In the interest of keeping the quality consistent and customers happy, they've decided to make sacrifices to keep the business model as is for take-out only instead of scaling up with additional staff, which is such a shame given the rent in the area is not cheap and they have such a beautiful space! When you hear "take-out only", I know what you're thinking, BUT I promise you this is the best takeout food you will ever have! The packaging is very well-designed to keep the flavors and ingredients at its finest! As I mentioned, I ordered the beef noodles, and typically noodle dishes are not ideal for takeout, but Asia Blue separates the soup from the noodles so that the noodles are not soggy, and even after half hour, the soup stayed warm and flavorful. The noodles also came paired with many mini side dishes as palate cleansers, which were a nice surprise. From my conversation with the staff, I've also learned that this is one of the rare places that truly make their broth fresh from premium ingredients! You can be sure that it's MSG free and packed with healthy nutrients, and that's a quality that you can taste. I highly recommend this place for your next ramen adventure, and I certainly will be returning again very soon to try the other menu items. :)

When you pickup your food, the sit down area is dark, and there isn't much of a waiting area. It looks to be run by two folks, the cook and the cashier. Since it is only two people, it can be slow to get your food when it is busy. I waited an additional 20 mins from the projected time it was suppose to be done. As for the food, the miso ramen was packed in this fancy box. The box contained the soup separated from the noodles with a few side dishes. I believe this is the only vegi ramen they offer. It is nothing special. The broth is basically miso soup with soy sauce. (2 out of 5) The cold sesame noodles was better. It had more flavor. (4 out of 5) The Salt & Pepper Chicken was good (4.5 out of 5). I couldn't help eating it while in the car, as it smelled so good. The Braised Pork over rice was decent. It was cut up thick pork belly, braised in an Asian brown sauce. The flavoring was a little one sided. (3 out of 5). I'm giving this place an overall 3 stars because the food isn't something to rave about. Packaging and presentation were great, but tastes was more important to me.

That combination is harder to find than you'd think, and they execute both perfectly. The food is consistently excellent. The chicken fried rice deserves special mention--when you order it, be prepared for a massive portion. It comes piled high on the plate in a huge, rounded mound, and it's very good. As far as I know, this dish is always all savory and there should not be any sweetness. But, when I took the first bite, it was mildly sweet. Weird! Looks like for the rest of the dishes that has sauce, they used the same dark colored sauce; so, they tasted the same. Not a lot of imagination and creativity in their cooking. SERVICE: They are quite attentive in this area. So, I would give them 4 out of 5 stars in this area. VERDICT: Would I return? Probably not. When it comes to Chinese foods, the dishes need to be superior in their taste. You really need to have skills to survive as a Chinese restaurant.

The menu has definitely grown since its earlier years, and the prices have also increased quite a bit, but it's still some delicious food, very filling, with that homemade vibe. The chicken bites are a fan favorite here. The chicken is so flavorful and soft with that nice bit of crunch. Yummy! This plate hits the spot! The fried pork chop and fried fish are also delightfully tasty, though the pork chop can be overcooked and tough at times. You get the choice of rice or soup with a lot of the options. I prefer the rice. It comes with egg and a vegetable, plus an additional side. The soup comes with soft overcooked noodles, bok choy, and a very light delicate broth. They offer boba tea and shaved ice as well, if a refreshing sweet treat is preferred. This is an order at the counter type of place! Definitely stop by a quick home style meal.

My favorite is their fried chicken bites! It tastes super crispy and juicy. Tastes pretty authentic, similar to the Taiwanese version. Would recommend if you're looking for a hearty meal.

I think the large window plus summer sun made for a greenhouse effect. There are many vegetarian options but I thought the overall flavor for the food was just average. Service was also slow and we had to call wait staff ourselves to ask for the check, water, etc. -Dan Dan noodle - because of the peppercorn leaves a tingling taste on your tongue similar to mapo tofu -Vegetarian spicy ma la noodle - also left a similar tingling taste. Although it was rated as a spicy dish I thought spice level was on the mild end. -Vegetarian dumplings - flavor was just average for this as well. It tasted a little bland to me -Sweet and sour cucumbers - overall liked the flavors although it is a very strong sweet and sour flavor. The cucumbers were cut into a unique shape.
