Always love their rice roll. Place is small but cozy. Quick service. The funny thing is they always forgot my soup dumpling order (happened twice, one was when we dined in, and one was togo order)

TX Rice Roll is a Taiwanese breakfast joint in Sugarland. There are limited seats inside, but everything was made fresh in front of you at great prices. I got the scallion pancake, traditional rice roll, Tao roll, brisket rice noodles, and double egg pancake. The scallion pancakes were super hot and crispy. There was also an ample amount of scallions. The rice rolls are filling. My favorite was the traditional rice roll which comes with pork floss, egg, fried stick, mushrooms, and dried radish surrounded in rice. The saltiness of the pork floss and crispiness of fried stick goes well together. The double egg pancake came out piping hot fresh off the grill and was light. The rice noodle broth was a bit blander than I would have liked, but the meat was tender. I really like how you can see everything is made in front of you. The food is very simple but fresh and at an unbeatable price.

I've been here many times with family and friends. They have two locations, one in Sugar Land and one in Houston, and both are fantastic. Everyone I've brought here has really enjoyed it. There is limited seating, but I've been able to find a seat every time. The line moves fast, and the tables get cleared quickly as well. You walk up to order, and they make the rolls and pancakes fresh right in front of you using fresh ingredients. I usually get the Tao roll, sticky rice, double egg pancake, and xiao long bao (soup dumplings). Once you order, it usually only takes a few minutes for everything to come out. The portions are good, and the xiao long bao are soft and super juicy. I usually wash everything down with their warm milk tea, which is very comforting and perfectly sweet. The space is clean, and the service is fast, making it an easy spot to grab a fresh and satisfying breakfast/lunch!

I got the eel rice roll from them, top notch. It was so warm and crunchy whilst having such a complex sweet and salty flavor in a simple rice roll! I ordered with my friends and we got our rolls within 5-10 minutes, very quick service! I recommend this for a quick and filling breakfast, but don't get it twisted their decor is very home style if you want to just relax and eat.

I wish they had a location near me in NJ!! The menu is simple, but it's quality over quantity. I got the original Taiwan Rice Roll with a hot, slightly sweetened soy milk. YUMMY! The rice roll is not too big, but big enough to be filling. I chose the original rice roll because it has two of my favorite things - the salted egg yolk and Chinese sausage. Note: they have a pork floss (which my partner calls "hairy" pork lol). They have a vegetarian floss as an alternative.

I am really happy with the prices here. My rice roll had egg, pork floss, and pickled veggies. The pickled veggies are very flavorful and really help all the flavors go together! Rice roll + a cold soy milk made for a nice snack and a great pick-me-up after work!

I'm so excited I found this place cuz I was recently in Taiwan and have been missing Taiwanese breakfast so much. I was still a little skeptical though and didn't want to have my expectations too high, but I was pleasantly surprised. I came here when they were nearly closed so I was only able to try their vegetarian rice roll, but I'm really glad they took my order because it was really good. It's a bit different from the fan tuan I had in Taiwan, and a bit more substantial, but still just as good. I'm not sure of all the ingredients that were in the roll but there was tea egg, lettuce, pickled radish, and crunchy stuff. It all complemented each other very well and had just the right amount of flavor. I really want to return and try their other things (like the salty soy milk).

The store isn't that big but it was nice and cozy and smelled delicious inside. We grabbed some fantuans and some sesame bings with egg and it was really good. It did take some time to get our food but we had a bigger order. The staff automatically spoke Chinese to us but when they realized our Chinese wasn't that good they switched he'd to English haha.

Was looking to try something new and interesting for breakfast and this place popped up! Easy drive from the Sugarland city walk. I came around 10 am on a Monday morning and it was pretty busy. There was a big party there that I think sort of out the kitchen behind so my order took around 15 mins because everything is made fresh to order, so I didn't mind! We got the Taiwanese and tao roll, and the egg pancakes. The egg pancake is HUGE- and my favorite thing we got. It's like an egg roll filling with hot dog wrapped in egg with big pieces of crispy friend wonton. Cannot beat that with a price tag of $5.75. The Tao roll was also HUGE- so much rice (both rolls actually). It had sausage and mushrooms and lettuce and mayo and beef floss and some other stuff. I really enjoyed it! I wish there was something with more crunch or acid for contrast in the rolls but good. The Taiwanese roll was huge as well but not my personal taste- it had a lot of meat in it so it was pretty greasy inside. But again, made so well, piping hot, and really big. I would absolutely come back again to try more options on the menu, and it felt authentic (everyone was speaking another language with the workers and was of Asian descent). A seriously great value!

From L to R: sweet soy milk cold, salty soy milk, fried bread, egg pancake, rice rolls

Finding Taiwanese breakfast is so hard (outside of Taiwan) that anytime I see one, I have to try it. The breakfast isn't the most traditional and would probably be considered mediocre in Taiwan but it's tasty enough to warrant a visit. The food is made upon ordering so the wait time can be long. While there's plenty of seating inside the store, it looked like most people opted to take their food to-go. For food, we ordered: One traditional rice roll and one black pickle roll - The traditional rice roll was not very traditional tbh. The fried bread stick inside was barely there and the addition of a hard boiled egg was unusual. However, if I view this as a rice breakfast burrito, it's an interesting and tasty treat. Sweet soy milk cold and hot - the sweet soy milk was a bit too sweet but the hot soy milk was just right Savory soy milk - missing points for authenticity and wasn't really my favorite item Fried bread stick - I would prefer this to be airier on the inside and crispier on the outside. That being said, I'd get this again Egg pancake - like a really thin omelet with stuff inside.

It's SO GOOD!! I am always craving it when I go back to Houston and it hits the spot every time. I usually get the tao roll but tried the other ones as well. I like the tao roll the best but the others are still good too. I also tried their double egg pancake and their salty soy milk with their fried bread stick and it was all really good. The service is quick and they make the rolls fresh. The inside is cute and has seating.

I frequently visited the Plano location and I was surprised to find that there was a Sugarland location also. TX Rice Roll is one of my go-to spots for a quick snack or a light lunch. They offer a large variety of rice rolls, each which slight variations in toppings. My personal favorites are the Tao Roll and the Eel Roll. The pork floss, fried stick, and egg serve as the foundation for most of the rolls, and the main proteins and other additions serve to change each version's flavor. I am a big fan of the mushroom meat thats is in both the Tao Roll and the Traditional Roll. Sometimes the amount of fillings in the rolls is a tiny bit inconsistent, but you are more or less getting the same experience. TX Rice Roll is a very solid place for breakfast or lunch, and I need to return to try out their Brine Meat Rice and Noodles. 9/10!

Basically gigantic rice burritos. Lots to choose from. Some pointers: 1) the sweet roll isn't like a dessert roll, it's more like sweet AND savory. 2) if you're not super used to Asian food, I would say to try the salted egg on the side before committing. 3) soy milk is more vegetal/bean-y than western soy milk 4) the rolls are huge, it'd be difficult to finish 2 in one sitting. 5) egg pancake is really yummy, recommend getting that to share.

On the table was a holder with chopsticks, soup spoons and napkins. It was a chilly, blustery day - I so enjoyed the Henan-style lamb with noodles soup! Three kinds of noodles: wide, hand-pulled with a nice chew; thin, textured tofu; crystal. Happy with the two quail eggs. There was a nice amount of wood ear fungus, kelp? and fresh cilantro. The lamb was tender and the broth flavorful. I saved half of the soup for dinner and chowed down on the pork bun. It was hot and toasty from the bun being grilled. Had to eat it right away as the bun was crispy crunchy and the sauce inside will eventually make the bottom mushy. "Yum!"

I wanted to keep it simple and got the shanxi oil noodle. It's been awhile since I've had chili oil hand pulled noodles. The wait was about 10-15 minutes for the food. It came out hot and the aroma of garlic hits you hard. They have chili oil and vinegar available at the table if you want to add some to your food. I thought it was solid and it is actually enough for 2 meals to be honest. Noodles were chewy and soak up all the chili oil and garlic flavor. It's a bit oily, there's a puddle at the end but I'd say it's pretty solid. I would say that northern pasta edges this one out just a bit for best chili oil noodles in Houston tho

I have passed by their restaurant many times, but it never occurred to me to go in until one day I was surprised to see them ranked in the top 100 ramen places nationally on Yelp! With less than 300 reviews, I was skeptical at first but was intrigued to give it a try, and I'm so glad that I did! I visited on a Friday afternoon right before New Year's and was greeted warmly by the staff inside. As I was indecisive on what to order in the ramen section, I asked the staff for suggestions. She was kind to walk me through the menu without rushing to get an order, and she mentioned that their most popular item is actually the beef noodles. That was all I needed to make a decision to try the beef noodles. While waiting for the food, I chatted with the staff and learned that the restaurant opened right before the pandemic then shifted their model to take-out only as the pandemic begin. Since then, they've tried to make use of their restaurant space to return to dine-in but it has been difficult to find reliable workers. In the interest of keeping the quality consistent and customers happy, they've decided to make sacrifices to keep the business model as is for take-out only instead of scaling up with additional staff, which is such a shame given the rent in the area is not cheap and they have such a beautiful space! When you hear "take-out only", I know what you're thinking, BUT I promise you this is the best takeout food you will ever have! The packaging is very well-designed to keep the flavors and ingredients at its finest! As I mentioned, I ordered the beef noodles, and typically noodle dishes are not ideal for takeout, but Asia Blue separates the soup from the noodles so that the noodles are not soggy, and even after half hour, the soup stayed warm and flavorful. The noodles also came paired with many mini side dishes as palate cleansers, which were a nice surprise. From my conversation with the staff, I've also learned that this is one of the rare places that truly make their broth fresh from premium ingredients! You can be sure that it's MSG free and packed with healthy nutrients, and that's a quality that you can taste. I highly recommend this place for your next ramen adventure, and I certainly will be returning again very soon to try the other menu items. :)

When you pickup your food, the sit down area is dark, and there isn't much of a waiting area. It looks to be run by two folks, the cook and the cashier. It is probably best to order over the app, as the one cashier is busy packing the food in the fancy packaging and dealing with the money transactions. Since it is only two people, it can be slow to get your food when it is busy. I waited an additional 20 mins from the projected time it was suppose to be done. As for the food, the miso ramen was packed in this fancy box. The box contained the soup separated from the noodles with a few side dishes. I believe this is the only vegi ramen they offer. It is nothing special. The broth is basically miso soup with soy sauce. (2 out of 5) The cold sesame noodles was better. It had more flavor. (4 out of 5) The Salt & Pepper Chicken was good (4.5 out of 5). I couldn't help eating it while in the car, as it smelled so good. The Braised Pork over rice was decent. It was cut up thick pork belly, braised in an Asian brown sauce. The flavoring was a little one sided. (3 out of 5). I'm giving this place an overall 3 stars because the food isn't something to rave about. Packaging and presentation were great, but tastes was more important to me.

I've tried the Galleria location as well, but this review is strictly for Sugar Land--and it definitely has its own vibe. What keeps me coming back are two key things that make this my overall favorite Chinese restaurant and earn them five stars every time: their General Tso's Chicken is made with white meat, and they serve chicken egg rolls. That combination is harder to find than you'd think, and they execute both perfectly. The food is consistently excellent. The chicken fried rice deserves special mention--when you order it, be prepared for a massive portion. It comes piled high on the plate in a huge, rounded mound, and it's very good. You absolutely get your money's worth here. As for the ambiance, it's much more no-frills than the Galleria location. The dining area is small, with seating lined up and an almost direct view into the kitchen. The staff usually consists of a cook and a female cashier who also acts as the server. She's efficient, focused, and pretty much all business--no small talk, but the service gets the job done. If you're looking for fancy, this isn't it. But if you want great portions, solid flavors, and a reliable neighborhood Chinese spot, Chang's in Sugar Land delivers every time.

While this is a fairly standard appetizer at many restaurants, I genuinely think Dumpling World does them better than most places I have tried. The wrapper is lighter and airier while still staying crispy, and the filling leans slightly sweet, which I personally really enjoy. Of course, I also have to order the Pork Xiao Long Bao. The wrappers are impressively thin, and each dumpling is packed with soup. Another must order is the Pan Fried Pork and Scallion Thumb Buns. They are addictively crispy on the outside and filled with juicy, flavorful pork. On this visit, I also tried the Eggplant and Minced Pork Noodles for the first time, and I would definitely order them again. The pork and eggplant were very flavorful, and the hand pulled noodles were thin and satisfying, though slightly overcooked. The sauce was also a bit oily, but that is fairly common with dishes like this, so it did not bother me much. It is just something to keep in mind. Overall, Dumpling World continues to be one of my favorite casual Chinese spots. Between the consistently fresh food, friendly service, and standout dumplings, this is a place I would gladly keep coming back to.

As far as I know, this dish is always all savory and there should not be any sweetness. But, when I took the first bite, it was mildly sweet. Weird!
