I picked this little strip center pub outta thin air and gave it a go after a visit to Longwood Gardens, only a half mile down Route 1 (that's "south" on Rt 1 for you directionally impaired travelers). A definite friendly, pub atmosphere, complete with solos sitting at the bar looking and obsessed at that mini screen they carry around with them while sipping a home-grown Two Stones beer (2SP) with a side of wings, or other happy hour groups, couples, old people, etc. A wonderful mix of civilization. I started off with the Mushroom soup. The excellent bartender swore that it would live up to Kennett Square mushroom standards, and it exceeded. The rich, chock full of mushrooms, creamy delight will be a regular order for me every time I am in the area. I might have to also bring some home. There was a salmon burger special on a brioche bun. Some bites were a tad fishy, some pleasantly fresher than the others. The homemade kettle chips on the side were to die for. I had a Two Stones IPA, I forget the pithy name that came attached to it, oh, "Up and Out", a hazy IPA. Not bad at all. Overall, close to a 4 star experience, but it's xmas, I'll round up! read more

My hubby and I had a great lunch at Two Stones yesterday. We had planned to go to the Chaddsford Tavern but discovered that they were closed for renovations. I was pretty sad about that, but once we arrived at Two Stones, I was sad no longer. We had the fries with a nice onion gravy, pork belly and cheese for an appetizer - I adored them, but my husband didn't really like the gravy. He had the classic burger with a salad and I chose the hot dogs with chorizo chili and pickled onions. Both of our meals were cooked perfectly and delish. Had the most dehumanizing experience here today! My mom and I are seated and approached by our waitress, Shannon (?). She orders a glass of wine, and I inquire about the beers on tap. I ask Shannon "do you have a draft list, for beers on tap?" and she just ... stands there and stares at me. I look a lot younger than my age (25) and I usually get some kind of reaction when ordering alcohol, except it's usually "can I see ID?" or something along those lines. Nope. Shannon just stares at me, saying NOTHING. After a couple seconds of awkward silence, I inquire again, explaing myself more thoroughly in case she misheard or doesn't understand. "Like a separate menu? Of draft beers?" And AGAIN, Shannon just stares at me!! 10 more awkward second of silence go by and i'm dumbfounded at this point. Why is our waitress just staring at me? "... do you have Yeungling on draft?? Anything?" At this point she's making me feel like i'm speaking a different language. This girl... PUTS HER HANDS ON HER HIPS. And goes ".... who's asking??" UMM. ME? THE CUSTOMER? I have NEVER been treated this disrespectful by wait staff. I understand that I look younger, but dude, i'm with my MOTHER. A simple "could I just check your ID first?" would have MORE THAN sufficed. This woman put her hands on her hips as if to... scold me? And then go "uhhh who's asking?" ???? I stopped by here with my boyfriends family after visiting Longwood Gardens (you should def go there). Inside it was set up like your typical chain restaurant (although I don't know if it actually is a chain or not). Something to keep in mind is that it didn't seem like there were a lot of booths/tables big enough for groups larger than 5/6. Anyway, the service was great! Our waitress was very kind and prompt. I ordered the turkey burger with fries and it was a huge amount of food. Also, the turkey burger was very juicy and had good flavors. Everyone else at the table was also very pleased with their meal. So that makes 5 happy people! Overall, I think it's a place with good food, good service, reasonable prices, and definitely a spot I might come to more frequently if I lived in the area. read more

Excellent mushroom soup, very thick and creamy & loaded with shrooms. I'd go as far as to say it's worth going there just for their mushroom soup. They also have unique tavern burger options like the one with fig jam & foie gras (goose liver pâté) and another with PB&J. It's a pub but they really know how to cook a fine salmon, crispy salty on the top and tender inside...and so far I've only gotten it served fresh, no fishy-ness. That's huge because so many restaurants serve it after it just starts to turn. So wrong. Only suggestion would be to offer a couple more salads, I get it's a pub not a bistro, but Romain lettuce gets a bit old when u frequent the place somewhat regularly. I ordered a 9 oz pour and was at first given no explanation for the delivery of a 6 oz pour of wine by someone other than our server. The explanation from our server was that she was told that it was the end of the bottle. Later I was charged for the 9 oz pour, which was $5 more. The cash register was down so we were told we could pay an estimated total in cash or they could write down our credit card number and run the card once their cash register was back up, since they didn't know what the tax would be. This is a good choice for families with kids who appreciate kiddie comfort foods and for adults who wish to relax with a nice selection of brews. For the rest of us, the menu features a variety of typical pub food like burgers, (flavorless) meatloaf, and truffle fries (the latter was a hit!), along with a few attempts at standing out like the banh mi Vietnamese style sandwich (dry and flavorless, without a hint of Viet inspiration) or the special Jambalaya, which was sold out on our visit. Local brewpub in a shopping plaza. I had mushroom soup and flat iron steak. The soup was amazing. I highly recommend it to everyone. The flat iron steak was very tasty. It was cooked perfectly. The butter that came with it was yummy. It also had asparagas, tomatoes and mushrooms. All were awesome. It had a side of parmesian dusted french fries. At least I think it was parm. Now, why only 3 stars. The steak too forever to come out. I actually considered canceling it. The steak, at a premium meal price of 27$ for flat iron steak, came with a side of fries. Fries are a side that comes with a 7$ sandwich at many places. You can get them as a side at Burger King. I would have liked to see a baked potato or some nice homemade mac and cheese or something rather than a cheap french fries. They were unable to serve me their own 2stones brewed pilsner. I forget the reason why. But they brew it. It should always be available. Bonus*** the waitress offered me a very good substitute. Finally. They do not have military discount. She gave me some line about only on veterans day or something. As a active duty military guy, I am hungry everyday not just on Veterans day. 10 percent off of an overpriced steak 6$ steak with a side of medocre french fries surely wouldn't have broken them. Especially considering they are not near a military base. I do recommend the food I ate. I'm re-writing a review I posted last week.. I was upset last week about a decision from corporate regarding discontinuing Winesday Wednesday. This decision had NOTHING to do with the crew or food at Kennett Square 2SP. I can NOT say enough great things about the food, staff and family like setting of KSQ 2SP. I blame the sour taste to corporate. I still will be a regular at Kennett 2SP on Taco Tuesday and even on Wednesday paying full price for my wine. August 2019 update: stopped in on a Sunday evening with a party of five and we were quickly seated. Food selection is still great with a really interesting and varied menu. Our server Beth did a wonderful job and was very attentive of without being intrusive. I had the Chesapeake gnocchi, which was no key is crab meat and a jalapeno infused cheese as well as a scrapple scramble on top. I really liked it but it was a fairly small portion for 15 bucks. All of the others in our party enjoyed their meals. The bread pudding was especially good and was enough for about three people. Wish there was a restaurant like this closer to where I live but when I'm in the area I'll try to return. read more

The bartender, Nick, immediately greeted me with a smile and made me one of the best drinks I've ever had (strawberry lemonade)! The entire staff was incredibly nice and my food came out fast. I tried the truffle fries and the Brussels sprouts. It was absolutely amazing! Next time I come here I'm definitely going to sample beer. Wings are a solid option here. I've been here a couple times and had the wings each time. Buffalo style come with little slices of jalapeño to add an extra kick so if you like spicy I suggest you give it a shot.
