Decided on Two Sisters based on the yelp rating. We all ordered the French Toast Combo, and we ordered a side of the fish cakes, to be adventurous (we all had never had them). French toast was some of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend. Potatoes and Sausage were tasty. Eggs were just okay. Fish cakes ended up being the surprise hit. Whenever we are in Boston to see family, we have to get up to Two Sisters for breakfast - it is just so damn good. Is this a fancy place? Absolutely not. Will you get a fantastic meal? You bet. I am partial to their egg in a hole (made with their incredible homemade anadama bread), my husband lives for their hash (extra crispy, of course) and our little girl gives two thumbs up for the pancakes. I think they do an amazing job with their food whether you like savory or sweet. Of course you'll get a bit of the salt from the ladies that work there but that's part of the fun. ;-) We love Two Sisters and I can't wait to go back. Our experience started with a very nice police officer telling us that the meter maid won't be around for an hour or so and to not worry about putting money in the machine. Awesome! We walked into Two Sisters on a Saturday morning and got a seat right away at the bar. Service was great! Coffee was delicious and everything was super fresh. I ordered a spinach, mushroom, tomato omelette. It was light (not weighed down with grease or butter) and so super fresh and delicious. The rye bread was homemade and awesome! We bellied up to the counter looking for local takeout breakfast sandwiches to take with us on a Whale Watch and we're not disappointed! Came to us right after she brought us the menu and expected we to place our order before we even took a look at it. Same thing happened at the end towards our meal. I took a trip up to Two Sisters in Gloucester with a friend after we heard about the new owner/operator team-- well worth the drive! The food was fantastic and fresh, and the place was clean, bright, and inviting. The staff were all friendly. The place was busy, but it seemed to run like a Swiss clock. I got the Nor'easter Omelette (tomatoes, onions, peppers, and cheese). I'm telling you, the omelette was cooked to perfection. Some places cook their egg so thin it's like chewing on cellophane, but not here. And some places cook the omelette too hot and it's all browned, but not here! These omelettes are yellow and light and fluffy and stuffed with fresh vegetables that are cooked soft but not burnt, and it feels like biting into a cloud. And I've never said that before about anything, so it must be true. And the home fries are also cooked perfectly, soft all the way through without being burnt, just enough seasoning, and no grease! And they don't over-butter the toast! And they offer baked beans as a substitute for home fries, which is hard to find these days! I wish I didn't live a half an hour away! read more

This is one of the best breakfast places I have ever been to, and that is saying a lot. A simple place you could easily overlook, the room has a handful of booths and a few tables. There is also a counter. Service is good, with a twist of fun in the way of saltiness. Safe to say most people will enjoy this. The food is absolutely amazing...I had a sausage and cheese omellete with with a side of hollandaise, home fries and some amazing toast. My companion and I also shared a side of french toast. The Omellete was the best folded style I have ever had-and I usually prefer the fluffy kind with the stuff built in, however this was just scrumptious. The home fries were also some of the best I have had...even though they weren't seasoned, I was surprised at how good they were. The french toast were also yummy. The lady enjoyed some Eggs Benedict that I sampled, these were also great. I have to say, I can't wait to get back and hope this review doesn't work against my ability to get a table. The food was absolutely mouth watering and the staff were awesome and made us feel right at home!! I'm sitting at the table AFTER we have finished our meals while hubby is out getting cash since we didn't realize it was cash only. Our server told us to ET and come back later and just enjoy our breakfast. Then the owner came over a little while later and assured us that she wasnt worried, just come back and pay the bill later or even tomorrow. I was floored!! I love Two Sisters! I love all the food and I have never been disappointed about anything about them. In this visit I ordered the fish cake Benedict for breakfast. It was divine, as usual. It's your traditional eggs Benedict, but instead of Canadian bacon, it is replaced with haddock fish cakes. Haddock fish cakes are my new lover in the food world; hearty fish that is also tender and is mixed with bread and herbs and other yummy things. The eggs were poached to perfection too, soft and runny yolk but firm whites. The hollandaise sauce was rich and had that hint of lemon and the home fries were crispy and tender as can be. I love diners. I really can't get enough! There will be a day when I start my own, but that venture is probably decades away unfortunately. When the doors do open, I hope to serve a corned beef hash half as good as the hash served at Two Sisters. It was the highlight upon highlights of my experience at Gloucester's best breakfast eatery. First I will say that the wait at Two Sisters can be lengthy. The seating only consists of about ten tables and another ten or so bar seats. If the line to get in is manageable, it is certainly worth your time. Once you sit, the service is friendly and accommodating. Of course I ordered the hash and eggs (with hash browns). Everything is cooked just right. The hash browns are crisped to perfection and the eggs were prepared just the way I asked (I mean, it's eggs...can't really screw that up). Now as I eluded to, the corned beef hash was the best I ever had. The most important part of a good hash is how it is cooked. I will take canned Hormel hash over homemade if it is prepared the right way. Not only does Two Sisters cook their hash to a tee, it's freshly made as well. Everyone in the party was satisfied with their breakfast. We also shared a plate of their french toast which was phenomenal. The portions were perfect and the meal came to about $12 per person. I would highly recommend checking out my diner whenever it should open. In the meantime (don't hold your breath), Two Sisters is the place to be for breakfast. It's far and away Cape Ann's best breakfast spot. read more
