I have used Two Men and a Truck several times over the years (the Chicago location), but since we were moving to Wheaton we decided to use the Wheaton location. Big mistake. We had two pick up locations (Chicago and Woodridge) with box drop offs (the box drop offs were in the locations listed above, with different dates and different times).
First, they messed up the box drop off locations which set us back with packing...they had to come back to the Chicago location the next morning with correct boxes. Then the day of the move (it was during a heatwave), the movers were over an hour and a half late (we were the first move that morning so it wasn't because of a previous move), then when the movers got to the Chicago address they were unpleasant and blamed their attitudes jokingly (not really) on the heat. When at final location of the move, they damaged our hardwood floors with several scratches. This is a two story home, so I was not able to (and did not think I needed to) watch these movers like a hawk to see how they handled our goods. Like I mentioned, I have used these guys in the past and have never had a problem. The move took all day (which is understandable), and it was hot and they were probably tired and I know they struggled with our living room furniture when they were moving it out of our apartment. The scratches look like the recliner was dropped, then dragged (bc it was hot out, it was the end of the move and they were tired and the piece is heavy) across our floor. Then, the movers packed the living room with boxes and covered the damage. We did not see the scratches until the next day when we were unpacking. I filed a damage claim, someone came to take pictures and after the review, Two Men and a Truck said they were not responsible for the damages.
We had our final walkthrough and closing the day before the move and these scratches were not present, as we would have seen them (no furniture was in the house) and we cleaned the floors before the move.
I had a chat with Paul Brown about the damage claim and he said that the scratches weren't fresh and they were not consistent with the damage done by the moving service. I assured him these were not done by the previous owner or present before the movers. He kept talking in a circle and saying the same thing, and not willing to help me out in any way. I'm not sure which is more upsetting; him no willing to help out or him insinuating I'm a liar. On the phone he stated they see a lot of damage done to hardwood and our scratches were not something they'd seen or that would happen with their moving service. I am betting because of the damage and that it would need to be buffed out (which usually they don't buff out just one area but rather the whole floor due to the difficultly of matching the stain of the hardwood) they didn't want to have to pay for it.
I am extremely upset and disappointed with Two Men and a Truck and will never use them or recommending anyone to use them ever again.
Now our floors are ruined in our brand new home. read more
