Al Pastor Pork Taco
LanChi N.

First time to two burritos, parking was behind the building a bit sketchy since the building was closed. Decided no better time to visit if it's the 1 year Anniversary. They had BOGO on their Al pastor tacos. While waiting they provided me with a small piece of tres leches and gave me choice of horchata or limeade. I opted for the horchata which for a "pre-mix" was actually pretty good. The Tres leches wasnt too sweet and was dare i say moist lol due to the cake being soaked. Now i didn't get to enjoy my meal until I got home so the real test was how does carryout do. The al pastor tacos.. the meat was a little dry for me. I do appreciate the freshness of the chopped onions, cilantro and the limes. But without the salsa that was given it was a bit average. The chicken flautas.. price point was a bit steep for me $11.00 but they were good. Nice and crispy exterior. traveled well and nicely filled with chicken. served with a side of pico and lettuce. the Nachos Machos. um holy cow.. the whole container? and for $6 ish dollars. The container was hefty, the queso was creamy not grainy. Chips were fresh, Piled with black beans pickled jalapenos, chicken, pico de gallo, sour cream drizzle. It was like the loaded nachos you crave. Plantains...i mean really its difficult to screw these up but. They had a nice crisp crust on the outside nicely caramelized and still soft nice toothy bite where your not fighting to eat it. I also ordered steak quesadillas for my brother which i did not try but he was a fan of. Overall Two Burritos was kinda of a nice surprise I had eyed it for awhile and thought oh its just another franchise but realized its kind of of a hidden joint. I am really impressed with the freshness of the ingredients for a fast causal place I most likely will return to try other items as i am curious about their fish tacos .

Birria taco

Hands down the best birria tacos in the DMV. I discovered this place by chance while looking for something quick to eat in the area and have not been disappointed in anything I've tried. The "Mexican Boba" is not bad, I wouldn't call it boba per se, but I like the passion fruit flavor. The person behind the counter is always nice and they take the food to your table. The interior is nothing special and the tables are not always clean, but none of that matters once you bite into the delicious birria taco. Don't get me wrong, the other tacos are good too and I always try something new, but nothing compares to the complex flavors of the birria meat dipped in the delicious sauce.

Good was so good!!!; service is good too. They were so patient while I tried to figure out my payment.

First time dining here. It's a fast casual place, with lots of takeout and DoorDash activity. We had the guac & chips and the birria tacos. The guacamole was good. The chips came out warm and salty/tasty. The barria tacos were really good and juicy. We really liked them.

THIS PLACE JUST OPENED NOT TOO LONG AGO AND DOESN'T DISAPPOINT! * Price: Ranges from $4.35 - $15ish, depending on whether you get a taco or a bowl. Two tacos had me full, while other menu items had me bringing back leftovers. * Food: I've had their chips and salsa (can't go wrong with that) and most of their tacos (Grilled Steak, Adobo Chicken, Al Pastor Adobo Pork, Beef Birria, and Shrimp). Shrimp & Beef Birria are DEFINITELY my favorites. I've also had the Fish Mahi-Mahi Burrito, and let me tell you... THE BURRITOS ARE AS BIG AS YOUR FACE! The chicken quesadilla comes with 4 huge cut up slices, and you will most definitely be full with leftovers. * Drinks & Desserts: Not the biggest fan of the drinks. The horchata was a bit grainy for me. They have "Mexican boba," but I'd probably just get boba somewhere else since it's more like crystal boba instead of tapioca. Not bad, but nothing special. The flan and tres leches were YUMMY, though! * Cleanliness/Setting: Very clean interior, close to George Mason University, so it's convenient for students. The music and setup bring the whole atmosphere together. * Service: One of the FRIENDLIEST staffs I've ever met! They're quick to fix orders and always check to see if anything is needed.

Fish taco - awesome!
Lance J.

Wifey and I stopped in for lunch this saturday. We got (and shared) a fish taco, the adobo chicken taco, and the birria quesadilla with a mango soda. The fish taco was the clear winner. She said "This is probably the best fish taco I've ever had." That's pretty high praise as she has gotten fish tacos all over NOVA including a pricier place with great beer and marinated steak. I have to agree with her: the crispy crunch of the fish coupled with the tangy red coleslaw was amazing. I wonder, is the burrito version more of the same or is it different because it is listed as mahi mahi? (Pictures somewhere would be very helpful or at least a paragraph description on the website.) The quesadilla came in a close second with the most protein I've seen in a quesadilla. Puts the TB offering to shame.

Street Corn

The service was quick and the staff was kind. The ambiance of the place is a location you'd spend some times with a group of friends. Their quesadillas are phenomenal and I would recommend going that route. I got the Birria burrito. The burrito and what was inside it was great. The Birria didn't really have any other flavor than star anise. I know that's in Birria but it was too over powering for me and I wouldn't recommend it. However, everything else was so good I would get a different burrito and try that instead. We also got the tres leches along with the street Corn and both were wonderful, however I think $6 for one street Corn is just not a good price. All in all a good place to check out.

Barria combo

We stopped by after seeing some pictures online. The food was fresh and hot. The ingredients were great and the flavors were amazing. My wife got the burrito which was a generous size and she enjoyed it. I got the 2 barria tacos combo which had tons of meat and came with rice and beans. My son was a big fan of the quesadilla, very generous size, he couldn't finish all of it. We will be back for sure!

There are some parking spots right in front, although not many. There is a decent amount of seating, but it would be tight if you had a large party. My partner did note that the bathrooms weren't that great. You immediately get served complementary chips and salsa. They were pretty basic, but not bad. We ordered the following: + Papusas (Pork and Cheese & Loroco and Cheese) - Decent, although I prefer the Loroco (an edible flower bud). + Pollo à la Primavera (chicken dish) - Yummy, especially the sauce which mixes well with their hot/spicy sauce too! I could do without the salad dressing. + Camarones con Calabeza (shrimp dish) - Same as above! Note they leave the tails on. + Natural Juices (Mango and Maranon) - So refreshing! I loved the Maranon (cashew apple) was a wonderful burst of tropical sweetness with a subtle nutty taste. I appreciate that for the pupusas they had the foresight to provide my partner and I two plates so we could sphere the papusas. The portion sizes of the entrees were great for the price. It did take a while for the staff to swing by so that we could get boxes and the check. Note that credit cards and mobile pay are accepted. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back again to try more items on their menu.

We love Mexican food like many do, but Guapos just always hits the spot. They have lots of delicious dishes but we both always get the Steak Fajitas. You get 10oz of marinated skirt steak and that marinade is fire. The steak comes on a sizzling platter with a side of Mexican butter. Butter y'all! You 100% want to pour that butter all over the steak and the sautéed green peppers and onions. This was a new thing for me, but the flavor is incredible. This steak just melts in your mouth. I'm salivating thinking about it. This entree is way too big of a serving to eat at once, but I typically do and am way too full. It's that good! The Fajitas are served with Mexican rice, a la charra beans, guacamole, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream and homemade tortillas on the side. The charra beans are also a unique touch. They are hearty and flavorful. Must also brag on their homemade tortillas. To me, the flour is where it's at. They are so soft. You can actually watch them making them fresh from your table. When you put all the fajitas components together and take a bite, it's really delish. Chips and salsa is also stellar, as is their fresh guacamole and queso. If you are going to get a margarita just go ahead and get the large size. They are yummy and it's a better deal than ordering two. Their restaurants are large so lots of tables to accommodate small and large parties alike. It's a casual joint so great for families, celebrations, date night. Service is always quick and attentive, even when they are very busy. If you want a great Mexican meal, come to Guapos. Get those steak fajitas. No notes.

We were promptly seated for dinner and my wife asked for a ginger beer to which the server indicated he didn't think they served ginger beer. My wife indicated that it's on the menu so the server lost instant credibility by saying they didn't have it, and didn't bother to say he would go check. The server brought chips and salsa which we thought were ok. The chips were really thin and the salsa was runny to the point I got it all over the table. Despite asking the server for napkins, he didn't bring any after 10 mins of waiting. I ended up going to the kitchen and asking if I could have napkins and brought them back to the table myself. Totally ridiculous that a customer has to serve themself. Restaurant cleanliness appeared to be problematic with napkins and debris on the floor, and tables that took 30 mins to get cleaned after patrons left. My wife had fajitas and thought they were good. I had a burrito that had a very thick tortilla to the point I felt like I was eating bread. Some of the steak in the burrito was medium-rare despite not being asked for my preference of how I wanted it cooked. You would think that would be well done in this instance. Needless to say, my wife said we're not returning and I'm not going to fight her over it. I don't recall our first experience being this way but the service and food have definitely changed for the worst.

We had no reservation, but had no wait and we were seated immediately. The restaurant has two sections, the main dining area, which is busy and full of families, and the bar area with high-top tables that feels a little quieter. We chose the bar side and it was perfect for a more relaxed, date-vibe. They also have a ton of holiday decor up and all the Christmas decorations made the whole place feel warm and festive too! Our waiter, Francisco, was amazinggggg! He checked on us at the right times without being overbearing, gave helpful suggestions, kept our drinks filled, and was genuinely friendly throughout our time at Guapo's! Service like that really makes a difference and definitely makes us want to return. We both ordered the steak and chicken fajitas and they were so good. The meat was tender and flavorful, the vegetables were cooked perfectly, and the portion sizes were huge. We both ended up taking leftovers home and had an even better lunch the next day. I have to mention the tortillas because they were honestly incredible. They were thick, warm, buttery, and pillowy in a way you don't usually get! I could honestly eat them by themselves. I also ordered a virgin passion fruit mojito and it was refreshing and just sweet enough without being too much. For two entrées, drinks, and queso, our total was $76, which is very reasonable for the area considering how much food we got and how good everything was. The ambience is lively without feeling cramped, which makes it an easy place to settle in after work. Happy Hour: Their happy hour is definitely the main draw. The large margaritas are priced extremely well, and when the mix is right, they're excellent. The only downside is consistency -- sometimes the drinks have a good balance of alcohol, and other times they taste more like lemonade and feel watered down. The appetizer prices are also great. We ordered the fried wings and Mexican rice; both were okay and edible, but not particularly memorable compared to other spots. Service: Service was generally good, but with only one bartender covering the entire bar, there were stretches where he disappeared or was tied up. Nothing terrible, just not the level of attentiveness you get at places with more staff behind the bar. Overall: Despite the inconsistencies, we'd come back. The happy hour prices are hard to beat, and when the drinks hit right, it's worth the visit.
