This was probably the worst burger I've ever had in my life. I'm not even sure what would have made the bun wet. The homemade chip seasoning should be shared around to the meat prep. Service was really slow because they were understaffed for the size of the crowd. But the servers were attentive and nobody had an attitude like they didn't want to help you. They were clearly working their tushies off. The chicken tenders are beer battered which was a little bizarre but also not bad. The poutine, and all the other fried potato options, are clearly frozen from a bag but fine. I would definitely go back to try drink specials or the hot wings. So so disappointed with my experience here. Twisted Tap struck out on more than one level. I had been seeing their posts about their drink specials and omg they just look so beautiful that I knew I just had to get here and try them! When we arrived we asked about the drink specials and the waiter seemed clueless about them. There was no menu with them listed or at least he said there wasn't one. So he attempted to verbally give us the choices but he wasn't sure about the ingredients for many of them. If you're going to promote your drinks is it too much to have a menu with them? So we get our drink (chose the seasonal milkshake) and omg it is nothing like the promoted pictures. Pretty sure it's missing an entire ingredient (caramel), it's watery and lackluster. I would have been much more successful with a blender at home. Then to top off this oh so great experience, our waiter was just rude. He was so not open to answering any questions or guiding us. This was our first time here and it felt like he couldn't be bothered. When he brought our drinks he essentially just disappeared. And it wasn't crowded so it's not like he was tending to tons of tables, it felt like he was avoiding our table. It's was super strange and definitely not welcoming. The location itself seemed nice (clean, modern, cool wall art), but the atmosphere was unpleasant and the food was only mediocre. We walked into the restaurant and didn't see a single staff member. There was a big party seated at a table and a few people at the bar, so we knew that someone had to be working there. But we stood awkwardly at the door for a minute or two since there wasn't a host stand and we weren't sure if we should seat ourselves. One employee came out, and that was the only employee (working as a bartender, server, and table busser) we saw all night. I understand that staffing issues are common, but it felt wrong to be in the front of the house with no staff there. To her credit, she was an excellent server and made sure all our needs were taken care of. But that was only the start. They were out of several things on the menu, leaving me to pick a less-than-ideal choice for food. It wasn't close to their closing time, either, so I was rather surprised that they'd just run out for the night. Our sandwiches were warm but not hot. New spot downtown- it was pretty quiet in there for a Wednesday. I guess the first time I heard about them I i assumed they also had their own beer. But they are noT a brewery... my bad. We shared the cheese curds "go pack go" and the Mac and cheese buffalo style. Cheese curds 100%. Mac and cheese maybe 10% it was a little too greasy for my taste. They had a ton of dipping sauces that were really good and flavorful. Girlfriend got the chicken tenders, 4 tenders- 2 sauces. No sides $9. Little pricy for no sides but is what it is. We went to the Twisted Tap after a movie. It was not a good experience. The food was not good at all and the value was horrible. One of us ordered a house salad. It was much like they poured a little from a bag of grocery store iceberg lettuce with a few shredded carrots and a couple pieces of onion. Then they topped it off with a few stale croutons. When ordering a salad that is $13 dollars plus, please actually serve a good salad, like you'd get at Aladdin's or another better restaurant. It was actually offensive, like a kindergartner made you a salad. If you're looking to go out for dinner here, I'd strongly recommend you steer clear. Decided to stop in here to try out one of their specialty milkshakes. There was no clear signs saying to seat yourself or wait to be seated, we waited a couple minutes and sat ourselves. It took awhile for staff to realize we had sat. Not only that, but the staff had very little knowledge of the drinks, especially the speciality ones. We order the shake, and were very disappointed, the pictures online made it look incredible. All we got was a watered down milkshake with a splash of apple cider...no caramel mixed in and the prices online didn't reflect the prices in store. Online said there was a $5 difference between alcoholic and non alcoholic, so we went non alcoholic and it was only a difference of 2 or 3 dollars. Overall disappointing We were the first people in here at the start of dinner service and seemed like the staff was more interested in chatting with each other at the bar than serving us. It's interesting to see bars & restaurants navigate new Covid laws. Bars on East Ave get lumped into bars where oh yeah you can get food because the Gov said you need to but Twisted Tap seems to be more food forward even thought the bar is the first thing you see when you walk in. We went for food and were not disappointed. In these times of disposable menus you can tell they're food first because there's no alcohol menus, no beer or bourbon or wine lists and no advertised cocktails. The food menu is ever present. Remember if you sit at the bar you gotta order food anyway. Cheeseburgers are the star here, with unique ingredients that go beyond cheeseburger or bacon cheeseburger. I had the Twisted Logic which is herbed goat cheese, crispy prosciutto, blueberry mustardo and field greens. It was very good. For your vegetarian friends the alternative burger is falafel. I did forget to indicate how I wanted it cooked so I got no pink. It seemed like one guy was doing everything himself but service never suffered. A friend and I visited here for a quick bite last night before catching a movie at the Little Theatre next door. The location is nice, situated in between the East & Alexander neighboorhood and Gibbs Street. Our server, Mackenzie, was very kind and helpful, but the venue itself seemed to be having difficulty. I realize they just opened last weekend, but they were out of ingredients and couldn't make most food. When my friend and I entered, it was unclear if we should seat ourselves or what the policy was. We got a seat and Mackenzie brought us the menus and took our drink orders. After she brought us our drinks, she told us they were out of buns for the burgers so she'd give us some extra time to look over the menu. When she came back, we asked if they had any other bread that could be used (the menu lists bruschetta made with ciabatta bread, for example). We were told that they couldn't make burgers with any other type of bread, so that eliminated a large portion of the menu. Both my friend and I wanted the boneless wings, but Twisted Tap was out of those as well. Finally, my friend ordered the chicken fingers and I got the barbecue mac & cheese. The mac & cheese was well-made, but was a significantly larger portion than I'd expected. My friend's chicken fingers, on the other hand, looked like the chicken hadn't had much meat on it. Their fries were good and the hard cider was nice, but I wish we'd known just how much they couldn't make before we placed drink orders so we could have gone somewhere else. So, the cool unique drinks that they are advertising on Instagram are a good idea. There really isn't anything like it in Rochester. BUT when I actually went to try out these unique cocktails, I was met with disappointment. There were only 2 bartenders who were acting as servers as well when the bar was full and the dining room was packed. They were extremely understaffed. Everything was very chaotic and there was nothing a set process of how the restaurant/bar should run. The, what I presume was the cook, brought out our food. Everything was melted to the plastic. The food was just okay. This place has great potential, amazing even if they just got their staffing and food under control. Cool place right on East Ave. It's a new bar with a ton of promise and an awesome staff. While it's menu has room to grow, I think they have done a great job for being a brand new bar, especially during these times. My personal favorite item are their sweet potato fries but their burgers are also top notch! No. Don't go here. This place is awful. If you want to go out to eat in Rochester NY go anywhere else. It was extremely below average and underwhelming. Generic wanna be upscale club bar with awful music and trash "urban" decore. They claim to have "award winning burgers." The awards they would have won are for "worst burgers," "smallest /dryest meat," "oldest fryer oil," "most expensive," and "best reason to eat at home." The Pip burger (a burger with 21 flavor braised beef, onion staws, and siracha mayo) was a dirty hockey puck after a run though the consession trash can. It had 1 onion straw, a loogie of sauce, the cheapest cheese you could call chedder cobbled with stake'umms made of genuine booth leather on top of a rubber disk of "burger." The Baby Yoda burger (a burger with a fried green tomato, bbq pulled pork, and mac & cheese) was just as flavorless, dry, and meh. It had the 10 elbows leftover from last weeks kraft mac & cheese thats been stuck to the bowl you left in your dorm sink, pork made out of shredded cigarette butts dipped in brown sugar, and a typical freezer burned premade fried green tomato. Signature fries were out of a freezer bag signed "yuck". House made chips were coated in stale adobo seasoning and made out of actual pieces of a house cooked really long and hard, last weekend, in a dumpster. Under toasted dry buns. When presented with the fried cheese curds, they looked good, but all the cheese had been cooked out so mercilessly they became salty oily rocks and de facto proved the fryer oil was last changed BCE. They forgot to give us any sauce with the curds. The $8 chocolate shake was 12 oz of lackluster. It was pale grey and bland. Not sweet or creamy. Thick milk from a sad cow that maybe one time saw a bottle of generic brand chocolate syrup. The beer was ok (mostly because it was not made by them), served from a can in a glass that was too small, and marked up so high you'd need a economist to help decide if you can afford a second round. They charged a $2 credit card service fee. $4 each to substitute bad house chips for under seasond fries. Everything was served on a sheet tray. You cant charge $17 for a burger and fries and serve it on a sheet tray... You have to be unbelievably delicious, or unbelievably cheap if you are going to serve food on a deli tissue in a skanky sheet tray. $96.00 for 1 appitizer, 3 burgers, and 3 drinks. $96.00 for dinner for 3 worse than yesterdays cafeteria leftovers. Don't go to Twisted Tap. There is a reason you've never heard of or been to this place and are reading yelp reviews. Did you ever go to a place and feel like you were an extra in a B-movie like "this isn't my scene, I shouldn'tbe here?" Thats Twisted Tap. The spot is pretty nice, location and venue overall. The vibe was kind of cool as well. The menu is also fairly inventive, with things like a donut burger. The issue I had with this place, mostly, was the pricing of the food for how little food you got. The burgers are half the size of a normal restaurant but the same price, if not a little more than most restaurants. I was hungry again within 45 minutes of leaving this restaurant. Speaking of time, it took us a very long time to even get our food on a day that was probably at 20% capacity. The Baby Yoda painting on the wall is definitely the biggest draw here. read more

New spot in downtown! It was a nice Saturday out so husband and I decided to go out for lunch. We had been eyeing this place on Instagram and decided to stop by since we were in the area. Food lived up to expectations. We were treated as soon as we came in and told to sit anywhere. Although still to cold to sit outside, the place has plenty of windows so on a sunny day it was nice. The food did take a little longer than expected, there was a but group and it was lunch time so totally understandable. Our server kept checking on us and the food. I know they just opened but it is clear they just don't have it together yet. We wanted to sit and eat but it wasn't clear how to do this. The bartender told us we could sit at a table and he would let a server know we were there. Servers walked by us for about 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and brought us menus. We were ready to order when she told us about the specials but walked away. I ordered the house salad dressing on the side and the Korean BBQ burger no bun. My fiancé did a build your own burger with lettuce, tomato, and bacon. We waited and waited and waited. We waited some more. The server came by and told us it wouldn't be much longer. Then we waited and waited and waited. I thought well it must be a pretty good burger. Burgers seemed to be the feature of the menu. The place wasn't packed by any means- we were one of about 5 tables in the restaurant. Finally! The food came. There was mayo all over my fiancé's burger which makes it pretty much inedible for him. I asked for a new bun for him because he hates to send food back. The server quickly brought a new one and asked if there was anything else she could get. I asked for them to replace the lettuce, tomato, and bacon since they too were also covered in mayo after my fiancé scraped everything off. She was happy to oblige. She offered to have them cook another burger but there was no way we were waiting for that. The burger itself was thin and overcooked. We were expecting nice burgers; I could argue you could get the same quality at a fast food joint without the wait. My salad was dressed although I asked for the dressing on the side, but it was dressed perfectly so I didn't mind. My burger had good flavors with kimchi, cucumber, and bbq sauce but again the patty was lost under the kimchi. It was super disappointing overall and didn't by any means live up to the Instagram hype. In fact, I think they have tried to rip off the beloved neighborhood bar on Gregory St.-Tap & Mallet, from everything to their name, logo, and menu- only they missed the mark completely. Bummer because I loved this space as Matthew's for many years and have very fond memories here but I doubt we will return to make new ones.
