It was flavorful, cooked right, and just did what it needed to do. The carnitas wasn't bad, but it leaned more breakfast sandwich than BBQ and I wasn't really feeling that. I've been here twice now and absolutely zero complaints! The people are the heart of Temple and you feel so welcomed the minute you walk in. I especially enjoy coming for the Irish music. I came to grab a bite before going to the Opera HD, a long show and I needed some sustenance. Nice bar with seating at the front and outside. I sat by the window, noticed only the bartender and approached her. Do I have to order here? Yes, was the answer, and I'll bring to you the food when is ready. The counter bar had the majority of the customers. I got a Stella and Chicken Tender Melt with Macaroni Salad as the side. The Sandwich came and it was a good size sandwich full of Chicken and Cheese,Tomato on Rye Bread. Very good. Pickle slices and the Macaroni Salad the best I've eaten in a long time. I would like to start with a special shout-out to the Bar Managers Triston & Dylan. They really are the stars of the show here. When I walked in I was immediately greeted in a very welcoming manner. I found my seat at the bar and was handed a food menu, coaster, glass of water, hand sanitizer, and given some time to decide if, and what, I wanted to drink. I ordered some chicken wings, fried hard, and some fries (my usual bar food). Without a second thought Dylan brought over some ketchup, napkins, and utensils well within 60 seconds of my order, and my food came shortly thereafter. Triston made me a delicious "Spicy Margarita" that rivals even the best of cocktails. I don't know what made it spicy, but it definitely had a nice kick to it. Food was delicious, service was amazing, and I had a great time in the atmosphere of the bar while watching the game. Went here looking for a dive like bar to sit and chill at. This was perfect for that it's the exact description of a dive bar. So being a dive bar the place is dive in decor and set up for it too with the bar in the center and small tables around. The service is slow ... But that's okay if you become a regular you can order in your own drinks... I saw a guy doing it, seriously. The food is just average too. I've been to Temple a few times. Most recently was too try it the all you can eat breakfast on a Sunday morning before the city went back Orange and Red. I'd already eaten but saw a post from a friend, want full, thought I'd try it. I had pancakes, bacon, sausage gravy and biscuit, Bloody Mary. It was ok, but not fantastic. For the $10 a couple of diners a couple miles away have much better food. My previous visits were for burgers - vegetarian and Angus - before events at either the Little or RoCo. Plus fries and a beer. Much better fare. I think they're trying to round up some business when the cut is yellow or better but they could do better on what I sampled for breakfast. Don't be afraid to go for lunch or dinner burger route fare. read more

Okay, what the heck, Temple is cool. So last week, I stopped in for some drinks after catching a movie at The Little with my friend, and I was shook because Temple had some of the best wings I've ever had in Rochester, to date. (We ended up getting an order to share) I also LOVE bars that are square shaped and go all the way around, and I love the feeling of a good 'ol dive bar, plus we were there on a karaoke night and honestly there's a schedule on the back wall of the bar with the different offering and deals every night. Bartenders were cool and the place is cozy. Best part is that it's far removed form that East/Alexander college party crowd and so you can relax and it's really great. Will definitely be back! The food was really tasty but the service was incredibly slow. A business associate and I went for lunch and it took close to 75 minutes to order, eat, and pay. Visited Temple bar last night after leaving another event. I went with my hubby, BFF and her boyfriend an a host of other friends and associates. We had a rather large group. Our primary reason for going to Temple was for their karaoke. We had a great, great time and it was a lot of fun. The karaoke is sort of in the corner off to the side and the DJ has a small tv screen as well. We were hearing some feedback on the mics, but the DJ seemed to be doing his best to correct it. We sang a few group songs and he had three mics which was nice. As several reviewers have previously mentioned, the drinks are very reasonable priced. However they use bottom shelf unless you request otherwise. We had no problems with the bar staff or service and felt that the DJ was very attentive to our group as well. Overall, we would venture back again because we had a blast. As for the bar itself, upon entering, I mentioned to my husband that I could totally see this place on bar rescue. My first time at Temple - during the Jazz fest. The festival was so crowded a friend and I decided to head back and get a drink at the bar instead. I'm not a regular at bars, so that might taint my review. But the place seemed Ok. It wasn't overly crowded. The bar tenders were super nice. There was some outdoor seating that we eventually snagged so we could actually hear some of the jazz music (and people watch of course). Drinks seem to be a reasonable price. You could catch World Cup coverage. I guess what more do you need from a bar experience? read more

I've been here quite a few times. The atmosphere is what one would expect from a bar. They have Tuesday trivia nights which is always a crowd favorite, and then they also have karaoke nights on Thursdays and Saturdays. Of course now due to covid everything has been flip flopped around. Anyways, I went there yesterday and ordered the Friday special beer battered Haddock which was delicious! The food tends to be great or average and sometimes disappointing. This particular review is solely about my experience yesterday, not including all of my prior visits. Yesterday, it was great! The haddock was cooked almost perfectly, maybe a TAD over cooked but the batter was amazing and the fries were seasoned perfectly. The coleslaw was a bit plain though. Overall, the meal was really good and I was pleasantly surprised for it being bar food. The dish that I ordered costs about $13 which isn't outrageous for the portion and it being fish. The bartender was also very polite and asked me a few times if I needed anything else. read more

This is the most divey of dive bars, and that is not a good thing. I've been in a number of times when visiting a friend who lives in the apartments that are attached. Every single time, no matter how early it is or how late, the place is dirty and the bar is somehow permanently sticky. Drinks are pretty cheap, but service is inconsistent. I would not recommend getting anything other than a simple well drink; this is just not the place for anything more than that. Which is fine, I'm taking three stars away for poor service, lack of cleanliness, inconsistency in the way drinks are made, and seeming unwillingness to be at least on par with immediate competition. You may only be able to enjoy this place for its convenience if you live next door, or if you are already sloshed. There are a number of other bars within walking distance from Temple and I suggest you walk to one of those, right now. Immediately. read more

This place is perfect for a night cap or a round of darts with friends! The owner does trivia on Tuesday nights and they've got karaoke for the biker bitch in you a couple nights a week. Thursday and Saturday to be precise! On Friday they've got 3$ pounders, 4$ IPAs and live music 10 to close. Also, don't miss half price wings on Monday! I'm really not trying to bash this place, but I feel obligated to leave this here for the sake of others. I see that other people have left great reviews, so maybe this was a one-off situation, but regardless: The chicken wings and nachos that we ordered late last night arrived at like 10:50, and we ate pretty much as soon as it got here. I started feeling a little ~ funky ~ about 10 minutes after, but I attributed it to just a slightly elevated level of the standard sickness/grossness that comes from eating greasy fried food. But then 4 a.m. hit, and so did a serious stomachache.... You know the type. I'll spare you the details, but let's just say I've been awake for just over 2.5 hours, and I've already had numerous opportunities to reflect and be especially grateful for the times in which I'm not practically chained to the bathroom all day. We went this Sunday for their brunch. 6 or 8 "all you can eat" selections and mimosas. The food was tasty. Good portions....and @ $7.99, we were sure we got our monies worth. The down side: this is more of a bar than a restaurant. They were not staffed or equipped for table service...so that meant that we did a fair amount of waiting and asking for standard things like cream and sugar for our coffee. The food came out in shifts, leaving some of us waiting while others ate their food. A cardinal sin! We would go again for food and drinks, but there is definitely room for improvement. read more

I got the Bavarian pretzels, and they were top notch. Absolutely delicious. I've spoken with locals and this place is apparently known for its good eats. They also have a great selection of beers, but even more noteworthy, the bartender pours them like it's nobody's business. Writing this review in almost a fit of rage. Waited at the bar for 20 minutes before someone even asked me what I wanted. I went for something she recommended hoping that she would make it snappy. I could see her making small talk with the 'regulars'. There were two other people at the bar who were equally blind to my presence. After waiting for another 15 minutes, I decided to leave. Bad service is one thing but being completely blind to another person waiting to be served is, in my humble opinion, the proverbial 'line'. The happy hour specials are AWESOME and the food is on the cheaper side without sacrificing too much quality. Wings aren't bad. I've had pretty good service here and the atmosphere is very laid back. I wouldn't call it an Irish Pub, I'd call it a neighborhood bar with a good crowd of regulars and specials. It does the job and rarely gets too rowdy.
