If Twisted Fork were a one night stand, I would call it back in the morning and leave several messages. If KITT pulled up on Granville St, opened his doors and said "Garth let's go for a ride" and I was waiting in line for Twisted Fork, KITT would loose that decision 9 times out of 10. If I got a lucrative offer from a Nigerian prince I would probably hear him out first then with all of my new found riches I would be off to Twisted Fork. I've always heard that this place is the bee's knees when it comes to brunch but I've never made the effort to brave the trip down on a weekend. I just found out this place is open for brunch fridays, this is perfect as the office is only a few blocks away. I ordered the banana stuffed french toast and at just over a 10 it's a steal! Where else can you get that much crack cocaine for that price? I say crack because how else could this bread and banana be so forking delicious? It was only a day later I already started showing French Toast withdraw symptoms. I think the service was fantastic and I think everyone else at the table had a great brunch also, I couldn't tell you as I was so distracted by my brunch I was blind by everything else. I love everything there is about brunch and Twisted Fork is hands down the BEST spot for brunch read more

Loved this place from the beginning. The service is just awesome. Their menu literally had a twisted fork on the top. Loved the food I got the ham, eggs and scrambled eggs option with some tea and I absolutely loved it. Wonderful place to get brunch in downtown, especially if you want something good quick! read more

I had something happen in this restaurant that has never happened to me before, and largely flavors my review. My wife and I were visiting Vancouver from Seattle and we found this place through the Urban Spoon iPhone app. I tried to make reservations but found out they don't accept them on the weekends. So, we showed up a few minutes before their opening time and got in line. Wouldn't you know it, they ran out of seating space right in front of us. We ended up sitting at a narrow bar, facing the wall, toward the back, with our names on the waiting list. Now, I've had similar things happen in the past, and we were on vacation, so we weren't in a big hurry, so I wasn't too worried, initially. This is when things started to go wrong. Typically, when a restaurant has you sitting inside, waiting for a table, they will try to make you comfortable by providing coffee, water, and something to munch on. Apparently, the staff was absent the day they taught that lesson. I finally asked for some coffee, since they obviously weren't going to offer. Sorry, we can't we're busy. Uh - ok. How about some water? We'll see what we can do. Ten minutes later we got some water. A while after that we were finally served coffee. At this point, I realized we had the worst of all worlds. We showed up early, stood in line, and now we were waiting inside. My time investment at this point was nearly an hour. If we had showed up an hour, or so, later, we probably would have only waited 15 - 20 minutes. Arrrgggghhhh! My wife was getting low blood sugar and feeling upset and nauseous. My blood pressure was going up by the second. And now - ta da - the coup de grace. Two young women wandered in from off the street and were immediately seated at a table where I had assumed we would be seated, since we were first on the waiting list and remember, they don't take reservations on weekends. Silly me. I immediately summoned the server over and basically asked WTF?!! She smiled at me sweetly and said. "Oh, well they work here". She said it to me as if it was the most reasonable, thoughtful thing in the world, instantly satisfying all concerns. WHAT!!! SERIOUSLY???!!! Listen closely restaurant owners, managers, and staff. You do not - let me repeat - DO NOT seat employees in front of customers that have been waiting for a table for 45 minutes and still expect to rate more than two stars in a review. So - 15 minutes later, we were finally seated at a table. To their credit, the food was great, as many others have reported here. I also had a bloody-mary-like drink called the "Brutus" that was good. However, our mood was so soured by our experience that it was hard to enjoy it. The final touch was when they told me they don't take AMEX, when I tried to pay our bill. One final gripe. Another consequence of their refusal to take reservations is that there is a crowd of people in the bathroom sized space at the front of the restaurant, and the door is constantly being opened. In the summer, this probably isn't a problem, but in the fall/winter it means that the customers in the front half of the restaurant are treated to a cold blast of air every few minutes. Nice. We finished our meal and left without leaving a tip. Summary: * Incompetent, clueless servers * Idiot manager * Excellent food As always YMMV. read more

That duck I had here with the jus was... well... IT MADE ME HAVE VERY SPECIAL FEELINGS. We saw the good reviews from peeps I know from Seattle and the others from the locals and figured, hey, we're close to there, let's try it. Little did I know that a) it's RIDICULOUSLY affordable for the quality of food b) I would fall in love with a sauce during my visit. We went for dinner, I had the "Cured BC Duck Breast with potato purée, green beans, BC cherry chutney and duck jus" and my god, how do potatoes taste so good? I mean, I'm Irish AND from Idaho, you'd think I'd be the potato princess, but never have I experienced such delicious tubers. The breast was tender, gorgeous, rich. I was in heaven. But the jus? It was the sauce of my dreams. I started eyeing the chefs behind the (open) line, could I romance them into giving me a growler to go? Could I ask them to be my sister wives and take that knowledge of magical potatoes and jus to my house? How can I make this happen? I also had a fresh strawberry cocktail that was amazing, and I may have had dessert, but after that jus, I honestly was swooning and remember little else of the evening. read more

I ate the most delicious asiago scones with butter and jam here. I ate a fairly diverse fruit plate as big as my face here. I drank a seriously heavenly French press of coffee here. It was all the best, the best, the best. And the service! So nice. The atmosphere! So cozy. The cost. So reasonable. I'd definitely be into re-visiting if I'm in the area again. read more

Background: I'm familiar with most of the brunch go-to spots in Vancouver. Food: Bacon brie frittata just killed me. It was savoury tart and rich all at the same time. My friend's banana-stuffed french toast was pretty outstanding. The menu is tactfully written and makes you want to try every bitty thing on it. Raspberry sorbet chocolate cake with raspberry coulis made me want to touch myself. The mimosas were also good. Ambiance: Sat at the bar, but could have easily scored a fuzzy intimate booth. This place is funky and the company is good. Service: Our server Bridey is a star. She enthusiastically converses with the clientele and genuinely cares for people - she even checked on the crowd outside the door waiting for tables and chatted us up. This was the best part of our experience today. Pricepoint: $25-30 a person for a thoroughly gorging brunch that can be followed by a nap on the beach. Overall: If this place were a person or animal I'd marry it. The service is fantastic and really makes the difference because you know they're sincere. read more

Wow, just wow! It's such a nice change of environment on the Granville strip. I seldom come so far down Granville Street, simply because it's Granville Street. However, this little place might just make me quite a regular in this area! Upon entering Twisted Fork, I was warmly greeted by a staff member. Everyone was casual and friendly, which made me feel warm and right at home. Our waiter was so enthusiastic, it was adorable. Twisted Fork proudly serves 1 lb of mussels with fries for $8 every Tuesday night. We had come for the mussels special tonight. So, our order was easy: 2 mussels and 2 beers. The Nut Brown Ale was tasty and very creamy. A great pairing with the mussels, in my humble opinion. The mussels were pleasantly generous. I'm very sure that 1 lb was served as promised. The white sauce was deliciously flavorful and creamy. Our meals came with a side of really nice bread and butter - the cherry on top. By the end of our meal, mussel shells piled high, the sauce had been completely soaked up and eaten with bread, so all that was left were squeaky clean plates. Then, we gave in to our chirpy waiter's persuasion and accepted the dessert menu. Our eyes immediately settled on the words "dark chocolate" and "mousse". We gave each other a nod, and a Chocolate Terrine was on the way. Chocolate Terrine is a frozen dark chocolate mousse dessert. It comes in two triangles, perfect for sharing. The rich mousse is topped with a scoop of raspberry sorbet, drizzled with raspberry coulis and of course, sprinkled with a few raspberries. Needless to say, it was delightful. A perfect finish to a delicious meal. read more

I will make a point of avoiding this restaurant, our experience was that bad. Large group wanted to make a reservation, and while this restaurant does not take reservations, I did call several times a few days earlier, as well as email, to make sure they even had room for 30+ people, and perhaps when it would be a good time to show up. Zero response. We went anyway, and were told we'd have to be seated separately. Odd, considering there was a booth right next to the table that part of our group had already grabbed, and that booth was finishing up. The waitresses were adamant, so we were seated - literally - as far as we possibly could from one another. The owner asked why we didn't take the booth opening up, and I said, "Your waitresses want us apart. Can we sit there?" He shrugged, looked confused, and when one of the waitresses glared at him, he just said, "They know what's best." I was upset, to say the least. The food was okay, depending on what you ordered. Some folks at my table were promised 16oz. of meat with their meal as per the special; they were lucky if they got 8oz. I enjoyed what I had, however it was still low value, and trying to get an explanation as to the discrepancy was like pulling teeth. Some folks from the front table were told to "shut up" and sworn at by the waitress, and one person from our party came back to find me to tell me about it - and was then reprimanded by the waitress. So, he can't come and talk to me, even though he'd have to pass me to use the washrooms? It only got worse from there - the front table was forced to pay a gratuity (20%!) while my table wasn't - with the same number of people at each table, just different waitresses. I pointed this out, and was told that it was the waitresses' discretion. The front table was VERY mad about this, and some left prior to my being able to talk to them about it. I did go up front - to see an empty booth next to our group - and the owner asked if we wanted to move. "Sure!" I said, and then I mentioned it to the waitress, who said, "That's not possible, it'll mess up the kitchen". Treat a large group of customers like idiots, and you'll be sure to have a significant number of people avoiding your restaurant. Our group belongs to a larger group of 5000+ in Vancouver, and many of us made a point of letting the whole group know (a) never organize an event there again, and (b) avoid this restaurant at all costs. read more

Really great service - attentive and friendly! The food was mediocre. The hash browns and spinach were good. We ordered the scrambled eggs, French toast, frittata, and eggs Benny. The French toast and frittata were dry. They make their own ketchup which is alright; it's on the sweeter side. read more

I feel a little late jumping on the Twisted Fork Brunch Bandwagon, but better late than never! Despite our best efforts, my friends and I didn't manage to get to the restaurant right at opening in order to snag a table, so we had to wait just over half an hour for a prime table in the back of the restaurant. The wait, however, was definitely worth it. The asiago scones with whipped butter were amazing, so soft and flaky. We devoured our side of scones in 10 seconds flat. I ordered the bacon, brie, and carmelized onion fritatta (yes, it was as delicious as it sounds), and my friends ordered the eggs benny and baked eggs. We also shared an order of banana stuffed french toast (were our eyes a lil bigger than our stomachs? Definitely). The food was amazing, the service was so friendly, and the ambiance of the restaurant was so welcoming. There is no slow period during their 10 am - 2:30 pm brunch hours, so be prepared to wait. And then be prepared for the best brunch you've ever tasted. read more

Best brunch I have ever had in my life, even compared to top brunch spots in NYC (Jane, Public). I would visit Vancouver just to come here again. The servings are huge and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the french toast or any egg dish - it's seriously the best french toast you will ever have in your life. The biscuits are also very good and I highly recommend ordering these. The service is also great, the location is central, and the ambiance is fine. The menus have twisted forks on them which is cute. Only downside is there's an actual wait here. I was surprised to have to wait at 9am on a Saturday, but that just speaks to how good it is. read more

All of the reviews for this place are for brunch so I'm super excited to try that but I happened to go for dinner. I. Am. Impressed. It's the best of both worlds. It's great delicious bistro style food with large portions. They have delicious sauce drizzle, gorgeous contemporary presentation and recipes but you also get a lot of it. We did the 3 course meal for $25 special they run from 6pm-7pm nightly. I got it and my mom just got a dinner salad. We were expecting to share a tiny appy and a tiny dessert but NO! Boom! The grilled sourdough appy was GIANT! A T-Rex of appies. And it was amazing, with goat cheese (my current crush) and pesto and tomatoes, it was awesome. My lamb shank was giant and tender, not dried out like most places. For dessert, I beg of you, live your life properly and order the Caramel Napoleon. You wont be sorry. Maple ice cream, raspberries and coulis, caramel mousse and caramel medallions. It sounds too sweet and it's not, its perfect, and great to share. I'm trying breakfast there this weekend and have high expectations! read more

The worst kept secret in Vancouver is to come to the Twisted Fork for brunch. But if you put your name on the waiting list, they will text you with a link to check the wait list (psst keep that link handy to check the wait list in the future). While we were waiting for a table, we asked if we could get a head start on coffee and very promptly a french press of coffee showed up. Excellent. We took 2 seats at the bar, the furthest left seats at the bar. This is important, if you're there at around 10am, do NOT take those seats. Anything but those 2 seats. The positioning of the sun perfectly reflects off a metal bin on the street. From these 2 seats, you have a direct portal to into the inner workings of the sun, I swear I witnessed fusion or maybe that was fusion in my optic nerve. Seriously, these seats should come with welders' face shields. Can you say "laser"? We asked to move to a table and quickly were seated at the next available table. The couple who took the seats at the bar didn't last long there either. Please, petition the city to allow some kind of temporary cover on that bin (or move it a few feet) but that's probably equally a migraine inducing experience. Actually, probably the best way to get the city on board is to invite Robertson for brunch and force him to sit at those seats when the laser is at peak strength. On to the food. We had the frittata and croque monsieur (which comes with tomato sauce which works well for this tomato sauce whoooooore). Both were delicious and generously portioned. If you come out of this place hungry, seek medical attention because something's not working right. read more

One of my go-to brunch places now. I always enjoy the food here, and anyone I've brought along has practically inhaled their food, which I can only take as a sign of a tasty meal. I usually go for the Eggs Benny to indulge my (un)healthy(?) relationship with poached eggs... they are cooked to perfection at the Twisted Fork. It's difficult to miss the high quality of ingredients used here, and the flavours of the baked beans and usual Eggs Benny components compliment each other wonderfully. The coffee is french press, and it's pretty darn decent. The interior is pretty interesting, with plenty of art and an entire door hanging off the wall. Everyone who works here is amazingly friendly, and you feel welcome as soon as you enter. They also have a bar where they were making some tantalising cocktails... I might just have to return on a less hungover weekend to try some of them! read more

Great place for brunch! Wonderful food and ambiance. The staff is friendly, funny, and on the ball. I ordered the Well done house smoked gouda Baked Eggs with sourdough toast, bacon, tomato, rösti and baked beans. It was amazing! The only drawback is that it is really small, so you may have a bit of a wait on the weekend. Check it out! Your tummy will thank you! read more

After experiencing the greatness that is Bin 941, we decided that we wanted to have small bites and libations somewhere comparable to Bin - except with more elbow room. Hi, Twisted Fork. The people behind the counter were super friendly and welcoming. The space was small, but not so small you had contort your body to get around the space. The ambiance wasn't lively and loud like Bin's - in fact, it was rather quiet and intimate. We ordered the grilled asparagus, scallops, sourdough bread, and Beef Bourguignon. I loved the Beef Bourguignon; the flavor was deep and luscious and the beef was tender and juicy. We had just watched Julie and Julia, so this dish really cured our hankering for Frenchy food. I definitely recommend the sourdough bread here. It came with pesto and goat cheese. Yummy! The scallops were all right, although, I don't really think the watermelon gastrique and phyllo cups added much to the dish. It seemed like a weird combination actually. Overall, I had a great time here. The drinks were strong, the company was good, and the food was soul satisfying. read more

A group of us went here last night for 7:30, but couldn't get a table until 8:15. That to me was actually a good sign! A friend suggested we go here for their $8 Mussels. By the time we ordered, they only had 3 plates of Mussels left, so we ordered those between the 4 of us and another friend had a salad as she was allergic. One word to describe the food: YUM. We all shared the 2 chocolate desserts that were so delicious as well. I've walked by this place so many times and never gave it a thought to ever come here, and I'm glad I did. Next time, I am going to come for the brunch and I'll be back again for the Mussels too. The service is pretty great and everyone that works their is ultra friendly, I love that. A side note: in the back they have a wall full of jams, preserves, sauces, pickles, etc. It's pretty fantastic. read more

Mmmm...got the bacon, brie, onion frittata and daaaaaamn was it tasty. Friends got the banana french toast, eggs benny with ham and eggs benny with chorizo. French toast was amazing, and I hate bananas. I lovelovelove that they give you a french press when you order coffee!! The wall of jams is amazing, it's so awesome they sell them too! I will say that the fact that when I was walking down Granville Street trying to find Twisted Fork and there was already a line of people waiting for it to open on a Sunday morning, you KNOW the food must be good. So go there. read more

Wow - the food and service were excellent. I wish we had this sort of food in Los Angeles.

Considering the brunch at Twisted Fork was so delicious, we decided to bring a friend here for his birthday dinner. Definitely a great decision! We started off with the Cheese Plate(Spicy Salami, Brie, Aged White Cheddar, Gorgonzola, Marinated Olives, Pickled Vegetables, and Brioche Croutons). For entrees, I had the Braised Lamb Shank and my partner and the birthday boy had the Flank Steak. We all immensely enjoyed our meals, but now that I look at the online menu, it has changed due to the season. I like when restaurants offer different seasonal accompaniments with your meal. Quite possible the best Lamb Shank I have ever had, my fall-off-the-bone tender Lamb Shank was served with Polenta, French Beans, Roasted Tomatoes, and Grilled Watermelon, but that was a few weeks ago. It's now served with Brown Butter Spatzle, French Beans, Roasted Tomatoes, and Roasted Plums. The Flank Steak isn't on the Fall menu =( Fresh Bread Rolls are served with dinner in the cutest lil' colanders! The drinks, as usual, are boozy! I ordered the Summer Breeze as my way to say goodbye to Summer. It was great. Twisted Fork has become one of my favourite restaurants in town and I recommend it to everyone! Considering the quality, the prices are very reasonable and you won't be disappointed. P.S. Went back for brunch and had the Banana Stuffed Brioche French Toast and it was sinfully delicious! read more

I've been here on several occasions since I last reviewed Twisted Fork and I can say that I absolutely love it. I still always go for the brie and caramelized onion frittata because the flavours are vibrant. I did try the banana stuffed french toast and decided it was not my scene. The $8 mussels Tuesdays are hard to beat. I don't care how long I have to wait (not too long on a rainy day though). They're so good! The cocktails are pretty unique as well. Where it's really at? The desserts. The desserts are some of the best in time. You can't go wrong with the Caramel Napoleon (I *heart* Caramel!). But once I had a vanilla basil creme brulee and it was so awesome! I can't stop thinking about it. Too bad they only have a regular vanilla creme brulee on their menu now. The chocolate terrine is not too shabby either. Twisted Fork, I *heart* you. Will you be my Valentine? read more

This French inspired bistro is in the heart of the Granville Entertainment district (clubs, sex shops, random drunk people, etc.) opened about 2 months ago and offers a welcome oasis with its high wooden ceilings, wooden tables, warm colours and wall of pickled veggies. I have not been for dinner, but have looked over the dinner menu which includes typical bistro fare of duck confit, escargot, ratatouille, moules frites, and some more unusual fusion offerings like panko crusted frog's legs. The brunch menu offers a nice variety of bistro brunch fare. My croque-monsieur came plated with a nicely dressed salad and a small side of tomato sauce. The sandwich itself was nicely prepared on brioche and arrived crispy, the way I like it. They are open during the week only for dinner, and on the weekends for brunch. read more

I've been back working in Vancouver for about a year, and moved back officially a few weeks ago. During that year, I didn't get out to eat much, but have collected numerous places on my To Try list, and I'm steadily going through them since moving back. Twisted Fork, so far, is my favourite. I've been here for breakfast before, and last night for dinner for the first time. The service here is simply fantastic, and worth going just for that. Last night our server was Ashley; she was a sweetheart, and very attentive. Top caliber server. We joked around a bit about the giant horse lamp in the lobby of 'The Standard' apartments across the street. We told her how we just saw the same lamp, in a furniture store for $5.5K (on sale!), and never thought something like that would be purchased. But there it was. So if you like giant horse lamps, or you want to laugh at giant horse lamps, sit in the front of the restaurant and stare across the street. You will be amused. Breakfast here is amazing, but be prepared to show up a bit early and get yourself in line. If you show up after people have been let in, and the line up is gone, you almost assuredly will not get a seat till the next rotation. Order anything from the breakfast menu, and you will be happy. Interestingly, we went for dinner on a Saturday night, and there was ample seating to be had, though it was a bit early (7pm). We both had Duck confit last night, which was prepared in the traditional French method, but then deconstructed. We both found that the edges of the Duck were a bit dry which left me scratching my head a bit, but the rest was amazing. For a side, I highly recommend Fernie Frites which is a blend of Yukon Gold spuds, parsnip, and yam's with a herb aioli (yeah, killer). This is a great place for couples, but I'm not sure about larger groups. They've got some settings for 3's and 4's but not many. They have bar seats if you go solo, which will get you a seat fast. Another great aspect about this place, is that the patrons, like ourselves, just seem really happy to be there, and you can be social with them. Which at times, doesn't seem to be the case at other Vancouver spots, and it's really refreshing and just makes the experience that much more enjoyable. Another sure fire way to tell how much the owners care about their establishment is to check the cleanliness of the bathroom. Sounds a bit weird, I know, but trust me on this. Twisted Fork spares nothing when it comes to ambiance and cleanliness there either. They have a great site too which shows a bunch of their food (though, its in Flash so not mobile/iOS friendly) Breakfast: 5/5 Dinner: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Overall: 4.67, hence 5 stars read more

Question: How does a restaurant that requires you to wait in line early in the morning, wait an hour for your food only to realize that your order was forgotten in the shuffle still end up getting five star? Answer: Friendly, courteous, respectful service, and amazing food! Our original 45 minute wait only ended up being a luck 20 minutes.... our waitress was up beat and patient because everything on the menu looked so good and we could not decide what to get. I knew off the bat I wanted the stuffed banana french toast - I'm a pancakes / french toast kinda girl ;) S - got the beans on sour dough bread with spinach tomatoes and salad, along with bottomless pressed coffee.... good thing he had the coffee as we waited patiently (understanding that their kitchen only had 2 staff). However, after a long long wait, we noticed other people who ordered after us got their food, we got a little suspicious and just wanted to see what was up. Our waitress apologized to the nines and she was so incredibly sweet about it. After that was sorted out, our food came out piping hot and I no longer wanted to talk but to enjoy the perfectly dipped french toast and watch the steam come out of the hot hot piece of banana stuffed brioche. I'm not big on whip cream, but the vanilla whip is an exception. Spread it on your brioche and watch it melt. Dip your piece of bread into the shot glass of maple syrup. If you are greedy - be sure to ask for more. This was heaven in my mouth, handsdown. I would have no problem coming back to get this EVERY WEEKEND! The beans and eggs dish - just as good, and I'm not big on beans and toast. The flavours kept coming - spinach here, tomato there, a hit of cheesy goodness, along with gooey egg and beans. it's amazing how much great service can really make your day. sooooooooooo coming back for another meal - dinner, brunch, moules.... seems all good... better than good. read more

Now we are talking. Oh the quest for the ultimate breakfast place is now complete. Got in sharp at ten and were seated fast....loved the bottomless French press coffee. We were waiting for some friends and ended up ordering the Cheese Scones with the coffee ---- had my meal ended there I would have been happy - scones had the perfect hint of Asiago and the homemade jam (available for purchase) was delectable. I ordered the baked eggs - these were to die for - not scrambled and laden with cheese - this dish is pure Genius. Loved the bread it came with too. The others ordered the banana French toast and wow - as good as it gets. I have to make sure to come back often to taste everything here. The price $11/dish was perfect, and the service was terrific. I have probably put on three pounds just writing this review....but it is so worth it. read more

I was recommeded to try this place out by a friend who is a local. She said rhat Vancouver is most known for excellent brunches. Perhaps my expectations were too high because the twisted fork fell short of excellent. The pros were the fun decor and atmosphere, asiago scones, and french press coffee. Their bloody mary looked good and were made with great care and love. I watched as the bartender muddled it. Horseradish and dijon and pepper. Will have to try it next time. The cons are the eggs benny and poached eggs. It is abominable what they do to eggs. Over cooked and hard! The sausage was also overcooked and dry. Perhaps their lunch menu is better. read more

Fabulous breakfast! Great value at $11 per entree. HUGE helpings. Fresh, well executed. Comfortable, cozy environment. Get there when it opens or you will wait on a weekend. Frittata - Brie, potato & bacon. There must have been 3-4 eggs in it. Very tasty. Served with a side salad of greens. Banana Stuffed French Toast - done with brioche. Very good, but the brioche was so thick that when you get through the banana part it's less impressive. But still very enjoyable & worth ordering. Baked Eggs & Gruyere - OMG. To DIE for egg dish. Lots of sides reminiscent of an English breakfast: hashbrown (mmmm!), house baked beans, roasted tomato, sourdough toast with house jam. Can't imagine you being disappointed! read more

This is my secret dessert place, as much as I love their brunch and dinner savory foods this review is for their desserts and only their desserts. I've tried everything from their rhubarb cheesecake to their creme brûlée and have always been happy. At $9 (with tax incl) a plate it can be a bit daunting, but surely it is the best around. You can really taste the difference on the plate from the first bite. Everything is soft and moist, not overly sugary and packs a great punch of flavor. Simply you must try everything, and if you love chocolate don't forget the chocolate mousse, it's a slice of heaven! read more

Love it here. Loved the atmosphere and the staff. The food was very good too. We took our kids and I would do it again. Very accommodating. The fruit was freshly cut and arranged appetizing. This much delicious food might be illegal, but if so, take me to jail! I'm not normally a mimosa fan but they had dark rum in theirs, so that was a no brainer. We had a side of banana bread as an appetizer which was the size of an entree and fantastic. I had a frittata with andouille sausage and feta plus vegetables, which was great. My wife had eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. I'm not a salmon fan but it looked amazing and she assured me it was delicious. Twisted Fork is an absolute gem, a welcome addition to the culinary graveyard that is Granville Street downtown! I can't believe it took me so long to get my butt in there - in more ways than one. The boyfriend and I decided to take Lex B. out for some birthday brunch, and arrived at noon to put in our name. We were told 45 min to an hour, so we went down the street to Blenz for some tea. Once our other pals arrived, about 35 minutes later, we strolled back down to TF and were told by the host "Don't go anywhere - table coming right up!" And then another hour went by. My hanger nearly reached fever pitch (I nearly told a table of four guys who ordered a second pot of coffee after their meal to *%$# off and go to Blenz). FINALLY we were seated. The food more than made up for the horrendous wait. Asiago cheese scones with homemade peach jam! Roasted tomato benny on brioche with heavenly hollandaise! Wonderfully flavourful potato rosti! The only misfire for me were the baked beans - a little too cumin-y to go with the rest of the meal. I completely understand the wait, and the food is more than worth it - but I must remove one star due to the misleading info. We could have easily gone for another coffee while we waited - to be told that your table is ready "right away" and then wait for an hour more is cruel! Lesson learned? For brunch, go early! read more

This is a hipster like Brunch spot located amongst the many sanitized corporate restaurants taking over the world. It has a nice low key atmosphere with soft lightning. It's very easy to drive right by it because of its signage so you may want to park around the corner and walk to it. The Eggs Benedict is one of the best I've had and you can customize it to suit your taste. The coffee comes in a big French Press so you'll have lots of tasty coffee with your breakfast. This place gets super busy as so as they open! read more

Twisted Fork - French Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

Twisted Fork. It's not just for brunch! The Refinery was closed for a Halloween party and boy am I lucky they were! Visiting Vancouver, and by myself, Twisted Fork was a cozy, welcoming and incredibly tasty dinner treat (and a welcome respite from costumed shenanigan-seekers and party bars elsewhere on Granville). I started with the 'margatini' -- served up beautifully in a tall glass with a double-raspberry stirrer. Fruity without being too sweet and not too sour either. Really yummy. I had the Fall Vegetable Salad -- the perfect mix of light arugula and "heavier" autumn vegetables -- which was tasty. And *then* I dove into the Scallops and Bacon dish. UNREAL. What do *you* do when you just can't believe how good something tastes? Well, go here and ask your friends. (Apparently, I just keep shaking my head no slightly, back and forth. And force other diners to commit to ordering it on their next visit, cross-their-hearts-and-hope-to-die.) I mean, I could bathe in this stuff! Perfectly cooked scallops -- four, I think -- and little but dense strips of bacon (local, from "the island") resting atop the lightest pillow of mashed potatoes, along with onions and a sweetish, slightly tangy corn relish. The service staff was incredibly nice and accommodated wherever they could (no dairy or gluten for me, unfortunately). The bartender even went out in the rain to try to hail me a cab. There's a nice little bar, withou much leg room, and the overall feeling is warm, intimate and "comfortable." Like you're a regular even when you aren't. There are vegetarian options, too. But they are, admittedly, using dairy across quite a number of the dishes. (Frankly, I'm not sure how I would have been able to narrow down my choices without that, because practically everything sounded like it could be stellar.) One suggestion for management: don't put your website in Flash, as iPhones can't see the content. Picking a restaurant on-the-go, without seeing a menu, is unlikely, at least for me. Thank you, Refinery, rain and tired feet, for conspiring to put me at Twisted Fork. And thank you, Twisted Fork, for a really fabulous, relaxing dinner. A colleague of mine recommended a new noshing spot called the Twisted Fork Bistro, located on Granville Street, Vancouver BC. This quaint resto with rustic decor serves up simple, classic french dishes. If you plan on a weekend brunch, be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes for a table. Their brunch menu is $11 for everything and you can get bottomless french press coffee for $3. Their ketchup is homemade and their freshly made jams are also sold by the jar. Shall I continue? Be prepared to eat, their portions are generous. Their banana stuffed brioche french toast is so generous I truly think it's made for two and the Gruyere baked eggs with sourdough toast is simply delicious. read more

Fan-forking-tastic! Want to make reservations here? Forget it. This small place is always packed. Surprisingly even with several people ahead of us in line, we only waited around 10 minutes. Bottomless French press coffee for $3.50/pp? -- Fork'ing awesome. Wanting to get my money's worth, I got pretty wired after 4 cups. Banana stuffed french toast (bread made in house) -- Fork'ing brilliant. Three pieces stacked high with a spiral staircase stack of elegantly cut grannysmith apples and some strawberries. It would make Curious George drool. The gf had eggs benny with chorizo sausage which came with baked beans (spectacular), shredded hash browns (best potatoes on earth), and a bit of spinach. When we asked for ketchup, the server said they didn't have any. A breakfast place without ketchup wtf! But instead, she brought a homemade tomato sauce that puts Heinz to shame. So much flavour. And at only $11 for brunch pates, Twisted Fork is brunch supremacy. Next Up: Dinner. read more

A French-inspired bistro with lots of house-made items. We were on our way to the Templeton at Granville and Helmcken when we walked by - I had never noticed it before even though it's been open since last October. The bench seat in the front window reminded me of Ferris' Oyster Bar in Victoria, as did all the wood and the funky "twisted fork" sign out front. It turns out they have a fantastic brunch menu, with a ton of dishes for $10 a plate. I had a hard time deciding but went with the baked eggs with gruyere, served with sourdough, rosti (grated potato / hashbrown thingie), roast roma tomatoes, and bacon. It came with housemade banana jam - not really my style (too sweet) but I find it great how much stuff they're preparing themselves. R wasn't really hungry so went with asiago scones, served with house made watermelon jelly and whipped butter, and a side of bacon. The scones were $3 and the side of bacon was only $2 -- I think they need to up their prices a bit: still absolutely worth it, and I want them to stick around. The coffee is served in a "bottomless" French press with a nice fixings of raw sugar and a cream jug at $3 / person. Very tasty coffee and I ended up drinking an entire press full by myself. We looked over the dinner menu. Sunday nights are 3 course meal specials for $25, and there is half price on food between 6 - 7pm during the week -- one of the very few "happy hours" in Vancouver. I say French inspired because you'll find things like mussels and duck confit, but lots of local ingredients and twists. I definitely want to try this place for dinner, and there are at least 3 other plates on the brunch menu that I want to try. All in all, great value for what you get. read more

I just went back for brunch! I had the Croque Monsieur which was so delicious and absolutely stuffed with ham and gruyere cheese. I was coveting my friend's banana-stuffed french toast with a shot glass of maple syrup and the hubby's eggs Benny looked scrumptious. If you're 10 people they'll take a reservation and the back table's a cozy place for a group. I had a cocktail called the Slinky Mink which is sparkling wine with raspberry puree and something else(??). I'll just have to go back and order another to recall that other ingredient. read more

I add an extra star for a certain waitress that adds entertainment value! I get it, I'm with an older man you find attractive and to whom you feel compelled to share your 'Aha moments'. Chirping about how 'experienced' you are, how young I look, and how you have 'come into your own unlike women in their 20s' reeks of petty desperation... Great service though! read more
