Great little ice cream shop. Friendly service and a lot of different flavors. Nestled in a little bit of woods.

The soft serve black raspberry-coffee twist sounds strange but it was delicious. We loved it.

I scream for ice cream!…read more Stopped by after dinner for some delicious ice cream! They had some specials on the menu so decided to try the raspberry habanero chocolate chip just because it sounded insane and it was! I mean the flavors all together worked some how. This was really a one of a kind concoction! I also love that you can ask for a sugar cone on top of your cup serving at no charge. We really enjoy coming here and trying out some new seasonal flavors. Their ice cream is very creamy and so good! And the serving sizes will blow you away! We each ordered half a kiddie size and it was still tons of ice cream in an 8oz cup! It's always such a treat!

Didn't complain because it was free but like, still a let down. I fear that Hodgies has changed their ingredients recently because to me the quality is noticeably different and lower. I am not fully sure about how the ownership between the locations is, but at the Amesbury location I am seeing the same problem. We bought a gallon of the strawberry ice cream and it was way too aerated. Had no substance or flavor and the texture was awful. Extremely disappointed as this has been my favorite icecream place since I was a kid. Tourists might not notice the difference, but us locals do.

Disappointing Experience - Overpriced Diner Food at Farm-to-Table Prices!…read more We visited The Orchard Grille at Applecrest Farm expecting a quality breakfast and an experience that reflected the farm's reputation. Unfortunately, we left extremely disappointed. Nearly $60 for a basic breakfast for two, and the food was nothing more than ordinary diner fare at inflated prices. To make matters worse, we were charged an additional $2.50 to add blueberries to the pancakes and another $2.50 for approximately THREE strawberries on the French toast! At these prices, you would think a little fresh fruit would be included. What was equally surprising was the presentation. Ketchup and syrup were served in plastic containers. For a farm that sells real maple syrup, wouldn't you expect real maple syrup to be part of the breakfast experience? Even more disappointing, no butter was offered or served with our pancakes or French toast. These are basic breakfast essentials! When you're charging premium prices, customers should receive something beyond ordinary diner food, especially at a place that promotes the charm and quality of a working farm. The one bright spot was our waitress, Jessica. She was wonderful, attentive, and provided excellent service. She truly deserves recognition and was the only positive part of our visit. Unfortunately, excellent service couldn't make up for the overpriced, underwhelming food and lack of attention to the little details that should make a farm breakfast special. We expected a memorable farm breakfast, not an overpriced diner experience. Very disappointing, and certainly not worth nearly $60. As for the ambiance, it was equally underwhelming. When dining at a historic working farm, you expect a warm, charming, authentic New England farmhouse atmosphere that makes the experience feel special. Unfortunately, there was nothing particularly memorable about the setting to justify the elevated prices. Between the ordinary diner-style food, plastic condiment containers, and lack of attention to detail, the overall experience fell far short of expectations.

Just an hour away from the city, with plenty of parking, Cider Hill Farm was a great time! They have lots of small bites and also a food truck for proper food. They have a farm store and a cider bar. Their cider flights were very creative, you can try 4 for $26. We got half a dozen of apple cider donuts for $6 and hot cider for $3! Amazing prices compared to the farms closer to the city. The lines at the farm shop were very very long, so plan ahead. They have plenty of porta-potties but in the afternoon they had run out of soap. Something that they can keep an eye on for their busy season. They have some farm animals, lots of chickens. They also had pumpkins and other picking items, which we didn't indulge in. We ended up getting burgers from the food truck $19 with the fries. Overall I'm very impressed at how much space and how fast the service is as well as how adult and kid friendly they are. Come with your family or with friends, you'll have a great time!

The Sandwich Shop and Farm Store: We stopped by the sandwich shop for lunch and the food was incredible. We opted for the Apple Turkey Sandwich and it was easily a 10/10--the perfect seasonal bite. The farm market itself is a dream and has absolutely everything you could want. We stocked up on warm cider donuts (absolute heaven) Local honey and fresh apple cider, Homemade jams & farm pies. The Experience: The orchards are beautiful, clean, and loaded with perfect fruit. Ending the afternoon in the flower fields cutting our own colorful blooms was the perfect finishing touch. Friendly staff, amazing atmosphere, and delicious treats. 5 stars all the way!

(Side debate: are sprinkles jimmies or just sprinkles? Either way, they were delightful.) The mix was delicious, the size was perfect, and the price was around $6, which felt totally fair. I also appreciated that I could dabble in other flavors if I wanted, but sticking to my classic choice made my day. Service was solid, friendly, and quick. We just got hard ice cream, but they had soft serve as well. One of my friends got a sundae and it looked absolutely delicious, with a nice amount of toppings. I tried the cookie bar flavor, which actually tasted like salted caramel. The ice cream base was delicious, but I wish they threw in some cookie chunks or other textural element. The location itself is great. It's designed to be a summer spot, so there's no indoor seating. There are picnic benches behind the ice cream shop with great views of a marsh. There's a parking lot that's shared with a pizza place, so you can grab some pizza with your ice cream. Don't forget to bring cash because they don't take cards!
