WOW wow wow!!! Sooo thankful that our friends showed us this hidden gem of a farm with some of the best tasting ice cream around. We tried their pie with ice cream and I picked the coconut with chocolate chips and boy was it good. It went perfectly with the huge slice of warm apple pie. I devoured the whole thing within minutes.. lol.. yes, I have a sweet tooth. Our friends ordered the ice cream sandwich with cookie dough ice cream and she gave me a piece of the cookie and it was soft and warm. Both of dessert were amazing and we will be back to try other things and see the rest of the farm. read more

I went there to have lunch, when I ordered a coke and it was flat and watery. I told the waitress that I couldn't drink it she acknowledged that the machine was not working properly. i thought that was strange why would you serve . Anyway she also charaged it on the bill., noted and it was taken off . The food was ok but not great. Won't be going back again. read more

i have been going to Applecrest for many, many years and I have never had the experience I had this most recent time. I can honestly say that I don't want to return. They took us out on a tractor ride to the section where we could pick and all the trees had been picked clean. Not that there was much of an option since we were given four rows of trees to pick from. The rest of the trees were roped off and they told us those apples were not yet ready to be picked. I will be trying another farm next year sadly since this past experience was so off putting. read more

We had a great experience in a busy Sunday in October. There were a lot of people but I didn't feel crowded. We were able to get in the donut line on the earlier side then got on the tractor to go out and pick. They had a really good crop (much better than Maine this year, which was hit by frost). It's not really a small or quiet experience, so if that's what you're looking for it won't hit the spot for you. But if you want to be assured of apples and have some delicious donuts, this is your place. read more

Love the Applecrest farm and their freshly made breads and hermit cookies. Pot pies are delish and they have lots of meat that's uncured and no preservatives. A bit pricey for their produce though. Their soups and sandwiches are quite nice looking and tasty. Did an outing with the family last weekend and had a GREAT time! It was a bit pricy at $45 for our bag, but the apples were juicy and delicious, and besides we got more apples than we really know what to do with anyway. Lots of photo opportunities there with tractors and equipment and of course the trees in the orchard themselves. Donuts were GREAT. CIDER was great. All in all 5 stars. My husband and I wanted a fun fall day to kick off the season. This was a great choice. We've had this orchard on our radar for a while and I'm glad we finally made the trip. Worth the drive for sure! I can only speak for fall festivities but also the place itself. So they have fall festivals on the weekend starting in September. They have a pumpkin patch, apple picking, face painting, a petting zoo, a patio for eating food, a cider and cider donut stand (cash only!), and a wine/beer tent. A great place for kids and adults which is awesome. The place itself is huge and gorgeous. There's a market that has breakfast, pastries, breads, produce, and other goodies. I didn't sample anything but their cider donuts were enough of a treat for me. Get more than one--they're small and you'll want multiple. They do sell out though which makes sense because the line to get them can be long and people get a ton at once. If you're going for one of their fall festivals, just get there early and you'll be fine (it starts at 11, but they open at 9). To pick apples, they drive you up in a wagon to the orchard. I've never experienced that before. It was fun but also a bit annoying because it took quite a while and you have to wait for the wagon to pick you up and then drop you off again. I'd much rather walk over because it would be so much faster. Also, you can only choose between a $20 bag and a $35 bag to fill. The $20 bag was sufficient for my husband and I and we were able to get a ton of apples. But we didn't need/want to get that many so I prefer a pay-by-the-pound option. Although there were a lot of people there, it didn't feel crowded or annoying. There's so much space so it's not annoying. Overall a really fun day trip if you're looking to get into the fall spirit. read more

~review for pick your own strawberries~ I absolutely fell in LOVE with this place. It's not the same place as the main farm - it's less than a mile heading south on 88 on your left on a dirt path. We came on a Sunday at noon (7/1/18) to pick strawberries in the raging summer sun. It's $3.50/lb, which is pretty reasonable especially since you can snack on the warm berries as you pick ;) They have a couple bird-kites flying to keep away pests and said they don't spray the plants, so snack on!! Sign in at the stand and pick up a couple quart-sized basket from the stand. They said the sign-in is just so they can keep track of how many people come in, how long they take, and when you come back, how many pounds of strawberries you picked - very organized stuff. It wasn't crowded (probably ~12 people total), so there were plenty of berries in the field to share. We were there for about 40 minutes, and filled about 4 quarts between two people. There's a range of strawberry sizes, but they recommended we pick at the edges since the middle is over picked. There were definitely some big boys, but the small strawberries near the front were very sweet and just SO strawberry-tasting. If you plan on picking just a couple quarts you're probably fine just carrying them around although it becomes a tricky balancing act. Otherwise, bring a large basket so it's easier to pick the berries without having to juggle everything, and place the quarts inside the basket. The people working were so friendly, and super helpful with where to pick. I felt so bad because they were stuck in the heat, but they definitely made the arrival, departure, and overall experience that much better :) ~review for the market at the main farm~ After strawberry picking, this well-AC'd barn was what we needed. Lots of fresh veggies and even some apples although it was July. I saw kale, green beans, zucchini, squash, etc. that were from the farm, but also some peaches that were from South Carolina. They had a fantastic selection of jams and preserved vegetables, as well as cheeses, and my favorite, the local Maine meat (bacon, pork sausages, ground beef, steaks, chicken, etc.). There are frozen apple, chicken pot, berry, etc. pies available, as well as half/whole gallons of apple cider. There's local milk from northern NH, and seeing so many local products made me very happy. The apple cider donuts (plain, granulated, or brown sugar coated) were very soft and tasty ($1.25/ea, $6/half dozen, $9/dozen). They also had "yesterday's mixed dozen" for less than ~$5 a bag which I'm sure are good as well. Love the crunchy sugar crystals and the pillowy donut. read more

We went today to pick apples, grab some apple cider donuts and run the corn maze. Everyone had fun. The only drawback was the coffee. Tired parents need decent coffee. The coffee served for over 4 dollars, when you add a buck tip, was watery. When a New Englander adds Half and Half and two small sugars to a hot coffee- and the only taste is the half and half and two small sugars - the person responsible for brewing and tasting the coffee before serving it missed the mark. Great apples. Yum. Great experience in the maze. Yeah! Tasty cider donuts! Yum. Applecrest - well done! I will be back for these apples and experiences - just not the coffee. Tired parents be warned don't expect to cut the sugar of your donut along with your tiredness with cup of coffee - unless you remember to bring your own medium blend coffee. read more

We came on a Sunday afternoon. This place was PACKED, with live music playing. The corn maze ($8/person) took us about 15 minutes complete. We then took the tractor ride out to the orchard to pick apples. The apples were delicious! The 1/2 BU bag is $40 and we filled it up quickly with our favorites. What a hidden gem for being a small detour off 95! My first experience with Applecrest was through their CSA program that does drop offs at my office once a week. I've been SO pleased with their offerings and it was a great decision to sign up - weekly harvested fruits and veggies from my local farm? Yes please! Then, on Friday my coworkers invited me to go to the Bistro for lunch. While the weather certainly made it even better, I couldn't BELIEVE how beautiful the farm was! Great Fall spot for PYO apples, flowers, fruit, you name it Applecrest has it! There weren't too many variety options for PYO apples (lots of Cortland), but they did have quite a few varieties in the market area that are pre-bagged so you can take those home as well. They also have a few food stands near the back of the farm if you want a sandwich or ice cream. The line was obscene for the cider donuts so unfortunately we couldn't try them fresh, but the ice cream stand next to it makes a fantastic cider donut sundae :) Ample parking and the tractor is running rides through COVID. read more

Apple Farm Orchards is a huge market attached to the bistro selling everything from New Hampshire maple syrup which I heard was even better than the Vermont counterparts, to peach ciders, and fresh fruit including the wild Maine blueberries and their own farm grown fruits. Fall is a wonderful time to visit a New England Cider Mill. It's lunch time and we are craving some apple cider, pumpkin pie, and perhaps a hay ride! After a quick search on Yelp we found Apple Crest Farm Orchards was along our route North, only a couple of miles from I95. We discovered they were celebrating Fall Harvest Festival and it was a packed house. The drive next to the farm was gorgeous as you passed into and out of forests covered in Fall Foliage. Someone is going to be doing some serious leave taking very soon. The apple orchards were plump with ripe apples. Once parked, we made our way to the grounds which were littered with giant pumpkins, Fall and Halloween decorations. Various fragrances lingered in the air fragrances: apple doughnuts, sweet apple cider, hot coals from the barbecue where grilled meats from burgers and dogs were roasting, and charred corn on the cob. Our mouthes were wetted with anticipation. We couldn't spend much time here as we had to be in Bar Harbor, Maine before 5pm for the packet pick-up, which was still another 4 hours further. We decided to share corn on the cob, a cheeseburger and some of their fresh squash bisque. We washed everything down with fresh squeezed apple cider. We must have been very hungry because everything tasted great. The bisque, was fantastic! It was in a heavy cream sauce but was spiced and seasoned nicely and had bits of squash in it. The corn on the cob was sweet and roasted to perfection. The cheeseburger bun was a high quality bun and the burger meat had a wonderfully smoked fire pit flavor. The Cider was wonderful too: had that tanginess of sweet and sour apples. We also indulged in one of the apple doughnuts. Yummy! On the grounds we watched other families play in the pumpkin patch. You could also pick apples, play in the petting zoo, wander through the orchards and ride on a horse drawn carriage. The blue, sunny skies added to the ambiance. As we stood and ate we soaked in the glory of it all and counted ourselves lucky that for the second year in a row we were in New England and could enjoy being at a real Cider Farm. read more

Though their selection of pyo apples is great, the prices are crazy...It's set up that you pay when you arrive at the orchard,$45 for a bag that suppose to amount to a peck, an additional $25 for 1/2 peck bag. We picked about 20 apples and both bags were full, though they were huge and tasty $70 is ridiculous! The store is great with lots of homemade baked goods to choose from, produce ($4.39 lb grapes) and a cafe in which we did not eat. We wanted the Apple cider donuts but the line was much too long. We were there for alittle over an hour and spent $150, in todays economy that's money not well spent read more

Loved this place!! The store was so cute had tons available for very fair prices. It was very clean and organized too. Staff was very nice. We had fun apple picking, the only reason I wouldn't give the full 5 stars was that the area to apple pick seemed oddly unkept, with very long grass and bumps and tons of branches on the ground. I'm almost 9 months pregnant so my son and I were both having a hard time walking around and tripped a lot. But overall had a great experience! We'll come back. read more

Really disappointed with the lack of masks and social distancing today at Applecrest. The store was mobbed, the area in front of the band was mobbed, and it seemed like every other family wasn't wearing masks (nor were they attempting to wear them), and staff walked right by and said nothing. And no, these weren't people who were eating or drinking. They were standing in the middle of crowds just ignoring the mask requirement. Even in the store, they let far too many people in. I was even more disappointed to see that many of the staff members in the restaurant area cooking were not wearing masks. Huge letdown at Applecrest this year considering we're still in the middle of a pandemic. read more

It was not in my plans to drive from Maine to New Hampshire, but I am so glad I decided to take a detour. I was able to make it just before their last day of their festival. Applecrest farm was decorated for the fall season with pumpkin and gourds everywhere. Once you get closer to the orchard there is a scent of apples everywhere. It is no wonder the farm fills the air with perfume of apples they have so many different varieties of apples, ones I had never even heard of. Everyone was so nice and even offered to slice any apple we wanted to taste so I got to taste amazing apples, some sweet, some tart. They also have home made cider, jams and jellies.
