Have paid a couple of visits over the holidays. Ordered our pork loin roast for the holidays. Stopped by to picking border after calling the day before and they did not have the order. The staff member was very apologetic and went to work to cut our 6 lbs loin. Never cooked it before. It was really good. Everyone commented on how good it was. Thanks! Looking for blood oranges for a cake for NYE. Called and the clerk went to look and confirmed they indeed had blood oranges. Every time we walk in we want to clear out the bakery section. The cranberry walnut chicken salad keeps me coming back for more and more. Some items feel pricey (like the cobb salad) but the 8 oz container of chicken salad feels just right. I love that I can come by for a good meal and get my grocery shopping done at the same time. Baked goods are also yummy to try! read more

I just visited for the first time; it's mid-August now, so all the best, late season vegetables are in, especially Silver Queen corn and beefsteak tomatoes. Very reasonably priced, in my opinion. Corn was $.79 an ear (with three "complimentary" ears tossed in free. You can certainly find cheaper corn - Walmarts, for instance, is selling it for $.50, but theirs is at least 5 days old, and often 10 (the crates show the pick date). I grew my own vegetables for many years, and I assure you that 5-day-old corn does not compare to ears picked that morning. In fact, the former isn't worth the labor to shuck it. The vegetables I saw here (and purchased) were all fresh, grown right here and, even though I'm retired now and have to carefully budget my expenditures, worth every penny. read more

The vegetables are fresh, if you can afford them. Tomatoes are $5 a pound! Yikes! All of their prices are insane compared to other vegetable stands around here. They have a bathroom, but when I asked to use it they told me it is only for employees. They were insteucted to tell customers to drive a mile up the road to a gas station on the right! Huh? Nice veggies, but the prices are way too high, and i can't get over the disrespect for customers with the bathroom usage rule. I've become very fond of Tendercrop Farm over the years, the fresh produce in summer, local meats year round and the nighttime flashlight corn maze in fall, what's not to love? Halloween Corn Maze Event: This review is for the Halloween Corn Maze event only, we did not go into the store. I went with my family, husband, myself and kids up to 13 years old. Easy to get to, plenty of parking and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. Staff was really friendly. Food was really good. I got the pizza, which was so good they should sell and deliver it, my family ordered from the food truck. This is one part that stopped it from being 5 - 2/4 of the order was wrong and it wasn't even busy. Don't get me wrong, the wrong food was delicious, but there was no obvious reason why there was a 50/50 mistake aside from the workers goofing around with each other while taking our order. The beer shed had good selection and the hot chocolate and donuts were good. Prices weren't over inflated too bad. There's fun stuff for the kids to do on the way to the corn maze..... fun tube slides and tires etc. the maze was really fun. They aren't kidding though, you MUST bring a flashlight. We were there during a full moon and it was still dark plus we didn't see any staff members / helpers in the maze to guide lost people. My only complaint about the maze was that we found an exit that wasn't real and kept us landlocked near the rear tree line and when we found what we believed to be the real exit there was no sign or fanfare letting you know you had completed the corn maze. Our exit was kind of far away from the entrance and event activities, so it was a good & fun walk back, but still the group of us that exited at the same time were all unsure if it was the real exit or not. I liked that the corn maze wasn't "haunted" because I was with 2 people who hate being scared and we were in the maze for a while. Haunting it would have been awful for my family. Overall, I'd go back & recommended. read more

I absolutely love visiting local businesses, especially local farms. I had never been to Tendercrop Farm before, so yesterday I took a visit in, and also today I attended their Sunflower Festival. Let's break this review up into 2 parts. First, I will review the Tendercrop Farm store. Second, I will review their Sunflower Festival. The location itself is beautiful. Plenty of parking. The inside was nicely decorated with beautiful fall decor and flowers. The aesthetic is on point! Inside there is a bakery, a section of bath and home products, flowers, refrigerated dairy products, fresh produce, and a deli / meat counter. Outside they had flowers for fall, mums, ornamental peppers, pumpkins and more. As someone who shops farms and local businesses, I do expect to pay a bit more than the mass produced stores. I am fine with that, and fully support it. However the prices of everything inside was very pricey. I bought 1 sausage for $4.45, a small container of pulled pork for $4.22 and 6 slices of chicken breast from the deli for $4.60. I have sense tried all 3 items that I purchased, and the only thing that I would buy again is the pulled pork. That was delicious! The other items, they were alright. Now, let's review their Sunflower Festival. My family and I showed up a little before 11 am and there was already quite a few people there. Parking was easy to get to, and they had lots of people attending to guide you into the field. Admission for adults was $10 and parking was free. We were greeted by thousands of sunflowers, all in bloom, and just breathtaking. We did have a toddler with us under the age of 2, and found that there wasn't much offered for younger children. They did have a bounce house, and a blow up slide. Most of the children's attractions were minimal and not very exciting. There were some pigs, a cow, a pony and some goats, which was nice for the kids to see. We did stop at a smaller slide made for younger kids, and my niece did enjoy that. Walked around some more, visited the corn maze, and then we were on our way out. They did have a hay ride, but every time we got close to it, it was taking off so we didn't get to enjoy that unfortunately. They did have a section with food vendors, and trinkets for sale. We stayed for about a hour, and left. On the way out we wanted to get a sun flower, and it was pick your own or buy a bundle. The only problem is unless you brought your own scissors or knife, you had to rip the sunflower to buy it. I really would have thought there would be a better system for that. All in all it's nice if you want to get some beautiful pictures of or in the sunflowers, but personally, I don't think I'd go back. Not very exciting, and no big attractions. All in all, I'm glad I visited both the store and got to attend their festival, but I don't think I'll be back. read more

We stopped here back in October for some pumpkins, which were reasonably priced. I also picked up some "boozy" cranberry jam and licorice. Prices to me weren't unusual for local, fresh items. I paid less than what I thought it would be. I didn't get to shop produce, but I'd love to go back again. They also had some cute decor and delicious looking desserts! I love how this store is set up and what they offer. I wish the staff was more pleasant. I stopped by this evening around 5:30 and sent about 20 minutes in the store. When I checked out the ones at the registers acted like I was keeping them there late or something making me feel uncomfortable. It wasn't even 6 yet.... After several visits the conclusion is mixed. First it is good to see that Tuttles Red Barn has not died. Since 1632 the Tuttles ran the farm until 2013, it was vacant for a long time. The organic spinach greenhouse grown in Mass by the Tendercrop folks is very high quality. There are lots of very expensive Whole Foods type products available. Unfortunately, the range of breads and bakery items, produced in house are really poor to mediocre. Other than their own veggies in season, there does not appear to be any reason to return. read more

Amazing produce, great bakery (their pita is so good, my daughter asks me to send it to her in NC), farm-raised beef, pork, chicken, duck and more. Great selection of local cheeses, beer, and dairy. Prices very reasonable (way less then Kittery's Golden Harvest). And, a couple days a week they partner with NE Fishmongers to have fresh fish available. Also pastas, cracker/snacks, nuts, jams, syrup, etc. I go here every week now and reserve the supermarket for canned, paper, baking and ethnic goods. read more

Went to Tender Crop on Sunday to pick up some birthday steaks. The double garlic and maple bourbon are impossible to mess up. I am also a fan of the raspberry turnovers. The place is tight on space so its usually pretty congested on the weekends. Bring the kids along to check out the animals out side as a great opener for the circle of life talk at dinner. SUCH a cute farm! Visited Tendercrop Farm on a whim after reading a Yelp review and I'm so glad we did! This is a farm that has a big store (with their own raised meats, dried flowers galore, fresh veggies, and cute antique nick-nacks). The farm also offers free things to do directly outside/around the store. This includes seeing a few farm animals (pigs, goats, a bull) and a few scattered neat activities for kids around the land (maze, giant slides). Ample parking. Great place to spend 1-1.5 hrs. I guess during warmer months they have sunflowers. Never felt rushed by staff, so nice to spend an afternoon outside. Everyone there seemed to be enjoying themselves. Had a great time! read more

My husband and I adore coming here. It's a fun place to come and check out fresh produce and local meats, as well as wonderful baked goods and ready prepared foods. We have had the prepared chicken salad (kinda dry) and the Cobb salad which was ginormous and very nice. The baked goods are our favorite though! The raspberry coffee cake is so soft and moist, the chocolate chip brownie is incredible and so packed with chocolate! More recently we tried the chocolate whoopie pie which was a touch dry but flavorful, however the cream was delicious. Their cookies are also good as well and I like how they sell them individually. We come here frequently and will continue to do so! read more

I have been to their Newburyport and Wenham stores in the past. I discovered this location while camping last year and so enjoy going to the "farm" as we call it. There are so many things we enjoy getting there. I can eat their corn 24/7 in was so good last year and this past weekend they had some great Georgia corn. Also there onions and peppers are the best I have had. My wife loves the cranberry chicken salad which they have made up for me if they are out. A trip is not complete without some cider donuts and a little chocolate milk. Last but not least are their meats whether it is the prepackaged marinaded meats or from behind the counter, they are all great. The steakhouse tips and Chinese pork are 2 of our favorites. We try to making it a weekly stop as we continue to camp near by. Well worth the trip. read more

I visited Tender Crop Farm for the first time this week. I was floored at the prices. Extremely expensive. Extremely. Especially in this day and age they would lower the prices to help out the community that is hurting financially. The meat looked fantastic, but I cannot afford to but it. The bread is $5.00 a loaf and not at all flavorful. Some things didn't even have prices on them. $9.99 for 3 ounces of dill????? They closed the public restroom, but can't help out the community? The former Red Barn at Tuttle's Farm is now occupied by Tendercrop Farm, and they are off to an impressive start. Until now, I made Fiddlehead Farms my stop for local produce, but they will be facing some big competition from Tendercrop. The selection and quality of fruits, veggies, meats and baked goods is very impressive. I've only had the chance to visit a couple times since they opened in mid March, but I have always walked out with more than I planned. read more

I'm a big supporter of buying local so even though I've been less than thrilled with Tendercrop's quality of produce and bakery items, I went back hoping for improvements. I went today and it was not only dirty but the prices were higher than they've ever been. Don't get me wrong, their meat is delicious and I appreciate its locally sourced. $15/lb for marinaded beef is a bit ridiculous as is almost $5 for a look of bread or head of cauliflower (in the off season). In the summer, there are tons of fruit flies, making things very unappetizing. The bakery items are bland and I'm also wondering why there aren't any locals working in the bakery. Everyone spoke Spanish and when I asked a question I was met with a blank stare...then I asked in Spanish and was easily understood. Not a problem but I was surprised not to see any local individuals baking. The individual stocking produce also didn't speak English so he had no idea what I was talking about when I asked him for some herbs. A lot of them were dead and some were rotten. Overall, its far more expensive with less options than Tuttle's. I'll be sure to visit only Farmer's Markets from now on. read more

The meats and the chicken are pricey but absolutely worth it. The veggies and prepared foods are very reasonable and top quality. We are so lucky to have them close by. Certainly less expensive than Whole Foods and more local choices than anywhere else. Love love love Tendercrop Farm! read more

Who doesn't love the idea of buying local? Tendercrop farm is my favorite place to go for groceries- their produce is fabulous, the meat selection is phenomenal and I love a lot of their prepared foods, too. Standouts include: Spinach salad with figs and goat cheese (Yowsa, this is awesome! I put a little balsamic on it and practically lick the bowl when I'm done.) Jalapeno sausages- SO FREAKING GOOD. Bean dip House-made brownies (SO fudge-y and delicious) I typically go here for produce and fresh meat. It's always clean and well-stocked. I love how they have samples out to try everywhere- from dips on the table by the registers to meats and cheeses at the deli and even grapes "on the vine" for you to taste before buying. I've gone there before and not had a plan for what to buy, just knew I wanted to cook something delicious. There was a guy in the meat department who spent some time with me, talking up the different options. He clearly had a passion for what he does and it showed. It's nice when you can talk to someone like that and know they are giving you a real opinion, not just trying to sell you something. The produce and meat are very well-priced, as are the prepared foods. The dairy products are (in my opinion) really overpriced. I tend to go to Tendercrop for meat and produce and then to Hannaford for dairy. It stinks to have to go to two separate places, but I'm happy to do it to get the quality I want and a good price. read more

I have been disappointed time and time again. The hours are not great for working folks. The eggs are not fresh. I buy them from a local farmer and they taste so much better. Eggs at Tendercrop each time I have bought them are runny, so old. Lots of produce-I wonder if they donate all of the leftover to a food pantry or soup kitchen because there is so much and highly priced i don't see them going through all they have. I do like the assortment of meat, but again higher priced then the other local butchers. I have bought some prepared meals such as the pork pies. They were horrible. I'm saddened that Tuttles closed, but this has not been a great alternative for me. read more
