We bought some garlic herb goat cheese from Four Hearts Farm and a blueberry scone from another stall. The baker of the scones also had pies and breads, more sweet than savory, muffins and other assorted baked goods. We admired some stunningly gorgeous plum tomatoes and I wish we'd bought them. Finally, we bought some white nectarines, so far superior to the ones at Hanaford as to seem like another species entirely. It was a marvelous farmers' market w/ other produce we didn't buy because we're not home and can't use it, like eggplant and other vegetables. Alan just ate one of the nectarines and pronounced it juicy and delicious. "I took a bath in it!", he said.

The lobsters were tender and sweet, and the clams were also perfectly cooked and delicious. Everything was reasonably priced for the quality, and felt like a great value. The owner was really nice and friendly, and the whole experience felt welcoming from start to finish. I'd absolutely go back for more the next time I'm in Ogunquit.

I remember during my last visit that Harbor Candy Shop was a standout, so I decided to stop in and rediscover the shop while exploring the area. Candy shops are pretty synonymous with resort/vacation downs in the United States, so it should come as no surprise that Ogunquit has one. Harbor is one of the better of these shops I've been to - it's large and very well stocked with a variety of sweets. They have a selection of bagged branded products, a wall filled with bulk candy, and a large display case with more artisan chocolates. The location is also prime - right on the main drag in the middle of all the action in Ogunquit. After browsing for a while, I decided to pick up a couple of pieces of loose wrapped chocolate and two of their house branded dark chocolate bars. Everything was good, I could tell the chocolate was high quality. I wouldn't hesitate to buy more chocolate from them again. While I do think Harbor is a premier confection shop, it's not perfect (nothing is). The prices here are outrageous - I almost couldn't believe what I was reading at times. Does it match the quality? The jury is still out - just be prepared to dish it out. Also, the traffic flow when checking out is confusing, that could use some improvement. Outside of that, though, Harbor Candy Shop was great and worth a stop in when visiting Ogunquit.

There is a really impressive variety of sweets: chocolate and non chocolate, bars, truffles, gummies, jaw breakers, etc. There is something for everyone (even vegans!). My husband and I tried the Dubai dark chocolate and the strawberry lime prosecco truffles. Goodness, they were good!! The latter was probably the best truffle I ever had! It turns out it is one of the most popular items (I learned this when I came back). Service was better than expected! The teenage girl who helped me was friendly and quick. Stop by for a truffle if you're in this area!

It's…read moreoff to California, then back again to Maine" (Kingston Trio) While sightseeing in the area, we were lucky to discover and visit the Kennebunk Farmer's Market, located in a municipal lot near 1 Garden Street. What an excellent time we had. While chatting with their 30 or so vendors, we both remarked how downright friendly everyone was! They were welcoming, charming, conversational and just plain nice to be around. Their vendors sold a variety of vegetables, herbs, flowers, fruit, cider, meats and poultry, teas, soap and skincare items, maple syrup, jams, cookies, pastries, granola, mushrooms, blueberry wine, almond milk, pickles, relishes, CBD infused seltzers, and Columbian street food. Pretty excellent lineup, don't you agree? We made purchases from three of the friendliest vendors we ever met. We started with a lemon and orange-cranberry cookie and a whoopie pie from the 3 Sisters bakery, a jar of Habanero Salsa from Cassie's Cabinet, and a can of Blueberry wine from Bluet. The market has a special feature we've never seen in the dozens of farmer's markets we've visited over the years, and we are grateful to the gent from Cassie's Cabinet for telling us about it. Every vendor at the market has a roll of tickets over their canopy, and whenever a customer buys something, well... you get a ticket. There is a prize board on the grounds with a list of the pre-selected winning numbers, so you simply check the board after your final purchase and see if you have one of the winning tickets. Winners get a gift certificate! None of our three tickets was a winner, but it was still plenty of fun to play along. We had a wonderful visit. PRO TIP The Kennebunk Farmer's Market is open on Saturdays from 8am - 12:30pm, May to November rain or shine
