Box of yummy treats and chocolate covered blueberries

Love, love, love this candy store! Smells so good when you walk in the door! So many delicious treats! They have EXCELLENT Needham candies. (Originated in Maine...rich, moist coconut filling covered in chocolate) can't wait to go back!

Great selection

Great quality, went back twice. Try the fruit bark, potato chip, turtles and sea salt caramels

This is their production location, as the friendly staffer explained to us when we stumbled into this spot in the rain (the actual Perkins Cove location was on our future list that day).

Charming little chocolate shop. The owner was lovely. The chocolates were good. Worth a visit to support a local business.

They had YUMMY sat water taffy reminiscent of childhood beach vacations - and then I saw the dark chocolate covered sea salt caramels.

Due to the time of our visit we had no line and at most two or three other parties enjoying some ice cream. They have plenty of parking available and also lots of outdoor tables to enjoy your ice cream at. Also besides the business itself I have to mention in the morning they have a coffee trailer named Lark Coffee and also a little library on property too. The ice cream shop itself has rustic barn vibes. We were drawn to visiting because we saw them posting about some of their fall flavors and because of that we knew we needed to visit. Which when you get here the first thing you will likely notice is the huge flavor board! If you have difficulty with choices you may want to check their website first to at least narrow it down. Thankfully if you do narrow it down to about 6 flavors, you are in luck and do what we did is grab their sampler/ice cream flight. It comes with six baby scoops that will arrive in a pink little carton. My wife and I did just that. We ended up picking the following flavors; Blueberry Crumble, Pumpkin Oreo, Seriously S'mores, Strawberry Cheesecake, Peach, and Cannoli. We enjoyed every single flavor and thought they knocked them all out of the park, very impressive doing so many flavors well! Despite this we did have a few favorites, those being the Blueberry Crumble and Pumpkin Oreo. Wish both those flavors were available anytime I was craving ice cream! One of the best ice cream shops I have visited. Huge variety of flavors and the six we tried were all so delicious! A must visit and I can't wait to visit possibly one more time this year and if not next season when they reopen. I understand why it is such a popular spot.

Make sure to bring cash. There is some seating outside and seemingly always a long line to order when it's hot out. Luckily the line moved quickly. There is a huge list of flavors, so inspect them before it's your time to order. I got the bourbon maple pecan which tastes a bit like a butter pecan but with a more intense flavor and a bit of a kick and the Maine blueberry. Both were great, but the blueberry was both unique and out of this world! A great flavor to try while in Maine. There is also a Maine blueberry pie which I was also curious about. I was delighted by the flavor options and the taste. Great place for a summer treat!

"Oh, daddy You soothe me with your smile…read moreYou're letting me know You're the best thing in my life" (Fleetwood Mac) We were in Wells on the past weekend, and to our surprise not all of the ice cream shops had opened for the season. Some were, some weren't. But fortunately, Big Daddy's were! And to prove it, there was one helluva healthy line of customers waiting to get their frozen fix in a cup or a cone. They have around 50 ice cream flavors, plus some sorbets, sherberts, and yogurts. We were so intrigued by one of their flavors that we both ordered it. I mean, c'mon, when have you ever seen Banana Chocolate Chip on a menu? It was excellent. Smooth and creamy with a definite banana flavor and plenty of chocolate chips. A Kiddie portion was a pricey $6.95, but in all fairness, that Kiddie portion was equal in size to some of the "small" scoops we've had over the years at various ice cream joints. Big Daddy has four locations in the Wells, Ogunquit, and Kennebunkport area, so if you're up this way during the summer, you won't be too far from experiencing an experience with Big Daddy!

Sweet Josie's Candy Shoppe is a seasonal confectionery shop and ice cream parlor that opened in…read moreYork, Maine in 1980. It was founded by Margaret "Peggy" Shaheen Fennelly, who named it for her mother Josephine "Josie" Skeip Shaheen. The shop specializes in over 60 flavors of homemade fudge, old-fashioned hard candies, gummies, saltwater taffy, and other classic candies. The shop also serves Gifford's brand ice cream and Richie's brand Italian ice. After Peggy passed away in 2021, the shop was taken over by her daughter Kathleen Fennelly Perez and her husband Jose. As of 2025, Sweet Josie's is now under new ownership. The shop operates from late April through mid October. My family and I recently visited Sweet Josie's this summer while we were spending the week in York. We were really impressed with the interior of the shop; it was so colorful. All of the candy looked so delicious, especially the fudge! However, we were actually on the hunt for some delicious ice cream. After looking over all of the flavors, I got a cup of "Dinosaur Crunch" (blue vanilla ice cream, fudge swirl, chocolate-covered Rice Krispies), my wife had a cup of "Sea Salt Caramel Truffle", and our sons both had cups of "Cookie Monster". That ice cream really hit the spot; it was exactly what we were looking for. The next time we make a trip to York, we'll have to stop at Sweet Josie's again and try out their homemade fudge!

My partner and I were in search of some fudge for a Mother's Day gift. We walked in as the usual one she goes to across the street wasn't open for the season yet. Walking in we were greeted by a very welcoming atmosphere- adorned with many colorful decorations befitting of a candy shop. Further, we were immediately greeted by a staff member of the shop. This woman was extremely kind (I wish we knew her name!) and since we were not familiar with the shop, she helped familiarize us with the flavors Sweet Josie's has. They have a wonderful selection with many kinds of peanut butter, vanilla, chocolate, caramel and more for flavors. They even have a 'Cookie Monster' flavor that takes its color and decor scheme from the character! We were able to quickly make some choices while hearing some good conversation about local lore and stories about the shop. We went about our way much better for it, too, and it made my partner and I's day going in there. So next time the usual store is closed, try the one nearby you never have. You might be pleasantly surprised!
