Rating: 3.5 Stopped by on the way up to white mountain. They were doing Halloween event but could not stay due to reservation at a restaurant. We checked out the shop. They had some baked goods, candies, apple cider donuts, gifts, ..etc We got some apple cider slushy, apple cider donuts, apple cider drink. Was a bit pricy but was good. Maybe will try the haunted house next time if we are around. read more

Came as a stop since it was brightly lit and open~ apparently they were having a Halloween event which is highly know in the area! Didn't have time for the event(wish we had more time) but we stopped by the shop. I noticed most reviews were low due to price. They weren't too bad, but on the higher end. Mostly stocked up due to the event, and some good selections. We got a slushie cider which was delicious and a typical cider donut and I got some bee pollen for future granola and yogurt breakfast. The bee pollen was pricey but cheaper then buying it at Whole Foods like I usually do. There were some flies around, but it IS a farm~ staff was kind, especially the Parker lot attendant let us get a spot near the shop since we weren't staying long. Good spot! read more

I thoroughly enjoy DeMeritt Hill farm during the Halloween season, Haunted Overload is one of the best haunts around. The farm stand is ok, pretty pricey, but it's to be expected. We love to stop and see the animals on our way through. read more

Overpriced and APPLELESS! charged $22 for a bag of apples but there were no apples to be picked.

While I've typically only visited this location for Haunted Overload, we finally checked out the little store on the farm this year while attending the day haunt and we were thoroughly impressed. Service was friendly and there was a great selection of local items to pick from, particularly baked goods! We bought a loaf of apple cider bread and a whoopie pie and both were fresh and delicious- the bread was still warm when we bought it! We also spent a few minutes visiting the animals near the entrance to the haunt and overall had a really good time. Prices are a bit steep, but I personally expect that when visiting a place like this. I'll be back in the future! read more

The prices are unrealistic at this place. The cost of the pumpkins comes out to over $1.00 a pound. Nothing real exciting there that would warrant this price. Several other pumpkin places have much more to offer and their price is half of what it cost at DeMeritt Hill Farm. Their bouncy house had a hole in the screen that a child could fall out of. read more

This was our first visit to an apple orchard (9/20) and we really enjoyed it. We wanted a place that was easily accessible, not super commercial feeling, and had a variety of apples. The lady in the shop was kind to us; I'm surprised to see the negative reviews. She offered clear directions, gave us clearance to sample straight from the trees, and suggested we try the Zestar apples. Those ended up being our favorites. We also picked three other varieties that were tasty. There was supposed to be one more but we combed the orchard and couldn't find it. Nonetheless, we left with a bag that supplied us with fresh snacks for the rest of our weekend trip, survived the flight home, and made the yummiest batches of applesauce ever! read more

Our family loves this place. We come here typically to pick apples, grab some cider, and eat a few apple cider donuts. They also host Haunted Overload. We arrived in the morning so our son could enjoy without being scared. We had a great time. Haunted Overloud is definitely worth a visit. You can tell that many hours of hard work went into building the site. read more

I see some negative reviews and everybody is entitled to there own opinion. We live locally and have been bringing our Daughter here since she was young. The staff is always helpful, the grounds are clean. It does get very busy here a lot people but a lot to do for the kiddos. read more

My son and myself were supposed to go to Haunted Overload this October 30th 2022. I was in a car accident and my back was injured. I contacted Demeritt Hill Farm in advance and asked them nicely if they could possibly refund my money as I would not be able to make it on the date I had paid for. They were very kind and gladly refunded my purchase. I really appreciated their understanding and kindness due to my unfortunate circumstance, I will go next year and I thank them very very much. I just got home, as a resident of the area, I have gone every year for the past 9, this will be my last. I understand all business need to increase prices a little from time to time, but this year is just ridiculous... as well as getting rid of the half peck for PYO and now charging for the tractor, these changes were not for the better and the apples are sub par this year at best.... I'm sorry to say, I'll be looking for a new orchard. read more

If you're going to advertise an event, then make sure you actually follow through with it! We went for their "Pumpkin Fest" on 10/7 and everything was closed for a wedding! They advertised on multiple websites and on their OWN website for this date. Totally LAME read more

I have been coming here for many years & have no complaints about orchard. But their health safety measures were of concern. No social distancing, no required mask wearing and many people standing in line without mask or distancing themselves. No hand sanitizer in portable potty & disorganized customer service -with those who just wish to get a bag to pick apples. The staff were masked. I will not visit again unless more care in safety measures were put in place. read more

I would have given ZERO stars if I could. This is the worst farm/orchard I have ever been to. The staff is incredibly rude, nasty and aggressive and the prices at $17.00 for a half pack are high. On top of that you cannot pick your own Honeycrisp. I was treated like crap when I asked to pick Honeycrisp. This was my 2nd attempt at visiting DeMerritt Farm. The 1st time, 2 years ago, I witnessed the staff treating others rudely and I left without purchasing anything. I thought to give them a second chance today. MISTAKE! If you want a true New England Apple Picking experience where respect is given freely, try Mckenzie's, Apple Hill, Butternut, Or Applecrest. Ditch Demerritt, they're horribly nasty people. read more

What a horrible experience! Went for the first time with my family to check out their "Halloween Overload" during the day. As we walk in, my daughter sat on a large pumpkin so we could take a picture of her. Apparently it was a big deal because a very aggressive man started screaming at us "You can't do that! Don't touch the props!" Because there were no signs saying not to touch anything, we innocently didn't realize this was a problem, and apologized. Well, that didn't matter because this man, who must be an owner because he said "this is my house!" continued to take all of his aggression out on us and then proceeded to go on about how people do get lost in there.....at this point, my kids are crying and we haven't even seen anything yet! Bottom line: really amazing Halloween display, but hostile, angry employees. Stick to other options in the area. read more

We went to this farm and were honest about what we wanted to do- take 1 photo in front of an apple tree for a new baby announcement. We bought a bag of apples too, as we wanted to support the business. The manager stated if we wanted to have a "photo shoot" we needed to pay 50 dollars and have a permit. We made it very clear we only wanted to take 1 photo in front of an apple tree and she proceeded to follow us out to make sure we didn't take any photos. What kind of an orchard doesn't allow photos? But also the woman who explained it to us became very hostile and angry reminding us she doesn't own the farm. We went down the street to a small orchard in Durham and picked a few apples and took our photo in peace. Wish we we had never gone here and wasted our time. I understand the whole photo shoot rules- but we were NOT professional photographers and we made that very clear when we explained our situation. read more

A great local farm to PYO apples, pumpkins. Fun activities for kids. However, was terribly disappointed that my two year old was not able to ride on the tractor wagon without a bag to pick apples. We had returned for a second time (had already been earlier in the year to pick apples) and we were told we couldn't ride on the wagon because we were not picking apples. Keep in mind, we saw a couple families departing the wagon without apple-picking bags and my two year old was already onto the wagon and ready to go for a ride. For a family-friendly business this was a big turn off, and we had to leave with an upset toddler. Not sure we will return next year. read more

My husband and I want so badly to love this place - we have been here four years in a row to enjoy the fall, pick apples, get some cider donuts and see the animals. I recently brought my 3 year old and 1 year old with me on a Sunday afternoon. There was one employee directing traffic to the upper level of the farm, but once we got up there, there was nowhere to park and no one directing traffic. It was a complete free-for-all. I came back down to the lower level parking and found a spot - the one guy they had directing traffic had vanished. They had a bouncy house, so of course my 3 year old ran over to it. The two attendants just kind of stood there staring at me, so I finally asked, "Can my son use the bouncy house?" "No, sorry, it's wet." Do you think someone could have grabbed some towels and dried it off? It wasn't raining - what was the problem? Then we saw a pony giving rides. I asked the girl leading the horse, "What do we need to do to ride the pony?" She said, "I need a ticket." Well, that wasn't very clear - I had no idea what she was talking about or where to get a ticket. The mini ponies bite, you can't get goat food unless you walk back into the store, and i had to pull my son off the dilapidated swingset when screws fell out and the tunnel collapsed. Are you kidding me?! Another man walked into the store and told the woman at the register that there were screws everywhere and a part of the swingset had just collapsed. She couldn't have cared less. If you are going to have play structures, at least make sure they're usable and aren't going to end up in some tragic accident. Everything is dirty, expensive, disorganized and irritating. My husband and I really try to support local small businesses but this one deserves to sink. read more
