Beautiful Fall Vibes, Donut Win, Food Truck Fail…read more We visited McKenzie Farm for their Mctoberfest event and had a great time overall. It was super busy, cars packed in everywhere, long lines to get in to pay for the things we bought and for donuts. But once inside, the fall charm made up for it. There was no admission fee which was nice. The apple picking was peaceful with no lines and perfect for photo ops and enjoying the day. We got lucky with hot, fresh apple cider donuts that had just come out when we paid and they were absolutely delicious. The apple cider slushie was refreshing, and I grabbed caramel popcorn to go. Big downside: we waited 20 minutes in line at a food truck only to be told they had to shut down because they ran out of food right when it was our turn. Major bummer! That said, the weather was beautiful, the energy was festive, and the free entry is a big plus. Worth visiting, just go early, expect crowds, and maybe pack a snack!

Simply can't rate it 5 stars - more than once, we tried ordering the donuts. DO NOT EAT!! No matter…read morehow good they smell. They never clean the fryer: all the nasty (filthy) grease ends up in your mouth(I'm talking COATING your mouth after just a few bites!! It's like I licked a dirty cast iron, after fat has cooled off from cooking something else in it. Not to mention, whatever it's doing to your gut!). Just horrible, and we have gotten sick from them. If you can't keep up with the fryers, don't serve people like that, it's harmful!! How someone has not ended up in the hospital... Waste of money and resources, that's for sure. So sad. I find it strange that the products from other (clearly small) businesses they sell are not labeled in accordance with law - you are supposed to state your ingredients, at least! Clearly, this place has never been audited. I want to be cheering for farms MORE than other industries, but these things just don't make sense, and seems abusive of public, blind trust. Do it right!! That all being said, it's the only farm to find Snowsweet apples. They have a great many apple trees of varying species, so it's a good place for that. Lots of produce and land to pick from.

Brought the black lab, and he ran into about five hundred pounds of other dogs. Though the giant Great Dane was likely 170. Many other families and small children. Tractor rides. Great location near the end of Glidden Road in Gilford. Psst. Great dog walking on the class VI road that continues at the road's conclusion. With a babbling brook my dog hydrated, pooped (which contained short sections of the beef teriyaki sticks he stole Friday night), and a trail to a cemetery. We walked it, my son and I, but it kept going too long. Maybe we go farther next time. And there will be. Oh, the apples are delicious!

We met the owners and had a wonderful chat before grabbing a large web sack for apples Sue wanted for several apple crisps she had planned on making. Though the orchards are relatively small in comparison to something like Butternut Farm, it's just a beautiful setting out there. I had a great time dragging the wagon along behind Sue while she gathered up her quota. We ended up buying a large pumpkin as well, had a great time, and would drive up here anytime just to walk around. It's just beautiful. Check it out!
