I think I'm in love with with this gem. I think this may just be my new favorite brunch spot! As soon as I stepped in, I feel like I'm diving into this really cool and trendy old school cafe. Our waiter was very attentive, personable and all the staff were super friendly. For the coffee (which seems like something that they're known for) we used the Yelp check-in offer which allows us to redeem a coffee (with refills). The coffee brew tasted really fresh and strong and I could see why people enjoy the coffee here. Also, our waiter was super sweet with helping us redeem the coffee offer. I have this obsession where I order the country fried steak WHENEVER it is in the menu at a cafe/diner and that came with eggs, hash brown and your choice of bread (I chose the homemade biscuit). My partner order the biscuit & gravy with bacon. Observing the consistency of the gravy, I could already tell I was going to devour this. The country fried steak is fried to perfection complimenting the savory gravy and is a perfect pairing with the eggs and hash brown. Oh, and the portions of the hash brown is incredible! (I shared some with my partner, took the rest to-go and both had some to share again for breakfast the next day lol) The biscuit is thick, warm..it's the perfect homemade biscuit. Of course, we cannot leave without trying a slice of the cherry pie..that would be crazy! It was pure happiness in each bite. We have been going here for over 20 years. THE ABSOLUTE BEST FISH AND CHIPS IN WESTERN WASHINGTON! As a group, we have been tasting fish and chips in dive bars to fancy restaurants and Twedes still has the best. Hand dipped fish and homemade fries. Tarter sauce - oh man, they have great sauce! Funky restaurant, fantastic help (we have seen the same people working for years) and great service and prices. All their food is really good and abundant but it's the fish and chips I keep going back for. Big, yummy oversized meals that are a treat! A quintessential stop for any Twin Peaks fan. Walking inside, it's smaller than it seems on the show, but looks the same! Various knick knacks and memorabilia throughout the restaurant. They have merch for sale including apparel in the back. At its core, this is truly just a cozy, small town diner. Many of the patrons seemed to be locals who were just grabbing some weekend lunch. There were a couple other parties like us here to sightsee also. As for the food, it was solid! The menu was expansive, but having eaten lunch prior, I split a grilled cheese sandwich and fries. The workers were nice enough to put each portion on a separate plate for me and my partner. I also absolutely had to get a cherry pie, ala mode because I felt like it. I was impressed! I especially loved the crust with a sugar-crusted top. This is indeed where pies go when they die. It was such a trip to actually experience eating here. I'd love to come again sometime! read more

American diner in downtown North Bend, aka the Double R Diner from the Twin Peaks tv show. Small-ish to mid size very traditional American diner. Very retro decor, with a center island for staff and counter seating, and tables on the sides of the room. Busy during Sunday lunch hour. All of the tables were taken but still had seats at the counter. Pretty standard diner menu with breakfast items, sandwiches, and burgers. Got their giant pancake with eggs, which was $13.50, and an extra $3.50 for bacon. The pancake was very big, and pretty fluffy and tasty with syrup. 5 decent sized strips of bacon which were okay. I prefer if bacon was fried not quite as dry, but been to multiple places where bacon was fried like this. Eggs over easy tasted as expected. They also include thin strip of orange as garnish(?) which was curious. Of course, I had to try their famous cherry pie, which was $7.25 per not very big slice. The pie was actually good. Not too sweet and not too tart, just the right amount with sweetness and a decent crust. Overall, the food is as expected for American diner breakfast food, but it's on the pricey side for what it is. read more

I live in North Bend. Twede's is definitely seen by the locals as the touristy place in town because of its role in the Twin Peaks TV show. Nevertheless, the service is terrific and they do serve slices of "damn good cherry pie:" Would recommend to anyone not from the Snoqualmie Valley. It's worth at least one visit. read more

The nostalgia and good comfort food. When we come visit, we always order cherry pie for dessert because they make it a certain way that's just so good. I ordered the jalapeño burger and added bacon. Burger was decent and the portion for its price was worth it. My husband has bought their coffee beans and he said the flavor was really distinct and made for some very delicious coffee at home. I really wanted to love Twede's Cafe, it has so much potential. Twede's was our first stop on our Twin Peaks tour and I was so excited to go there. My husband and I went at dinner time. There were a few other patrons there and most seemed to be there as fellow TP fans and there were a couple locals. The main server guy was friendly enough but I could tell he seemed a bit over it all. When I told him how excited I was to be there, nothing, no response. He did make a fresh pot of coffee so that was nice, but the coffee itself was of poor quality. I ordered the roast beef dinner...it looked like a TV dinner that was plated. It tasted pretty bad and the mashed potatoes were the only thing that I could really stomach. The meat was on top of a couple slices of bread(?) and covered with a brown gravy that congealed into a shiny coating. My husband got a burger and said it was pretty greasy and undercooked, the fries were ok, but sad that the only thing we found edible were the potato products. The diner itself has some TP nostalgia and I guess that is the draw, but it was kinda grungy and cluttered. Again, this place could be really, really great! The cherry pie looked and tasted like it came out of a can and the pie crust was more like bread than a true pie crust. Very disappointing. My husband used the restroom and commented that the last time they probably cleaned it was when they filmed The Return. The cook wore a baseball cap in lieu of a hairnet. My husband wants me to give it 5 stars but until they fix that coffee and cherry pie it's not gonna happen. read more

I'm a big fan of Twin Peaks and had to stop by to see the Double R! I wasn't expecting much of the food, since that wasn't really the point of the visit but I was pleasantly surprised! Tweed's Cafe is located in this busy cute little street in North Bend and you can easily locate it with it's giant sign outside. Much of the fame of this little diner is that it was featured in the TV series "Twin Peaks". When you walk inside it's like you are transported. It really did keep up the diner aesthetic. I cam here for breakfast with some girl friends and we were seated within walking in. The waitress was very kind. Overall, the menu had what you expect for a diner. It had breakfast and lunch options. They are also famous for their cherry pie. I ordered the half biscuit and gravy. This plate also come accompanied with 2 eggs and bacon. Overall the portions are huge! However when it came to taste, I was not a fan. The food did not match my expectation of diner food. Not to mention that my food was served cold. My biscuit's texture was not what I expected and the gravy was flavorless. The side of hash browns I ordered were very delicious. I also tried their famous "fine cup of coffee". It was your plain old diner coffee with endless refills. My biggest issue with this cafe was the cleanliness and maintenance. The bathrooms were a disaster and very dirty. The restaurant itself needs some care and love. The booths are basically kept together by black duct tape. You could tell that his place needs some deep cleaning. We tried the French Dip ($15.50) sub mashed potatoes for fries and of course the cherry pie with ice cream. The French Dip was one of the best I ever had - it had tons of thinly shaved beef, gooey cheese, grilled onions, also...bacon!! The gravy on top of the potatoes was also great. Oh my god that CHERRY PIE ($7) lives up to its hype. It's served warm and get the ice cream with it (+$2.25), just do it! Portions are very filling! The man taking our order was so so nice. We made a midweek pilgrimage up to this delightful little café after reading about the famous cherry pie that was seen on the show Twin Peaks. While it was basically an hour and 45 minute drive to get here, we all felt it was well worth it! The place is a very unassuming old school diner that has a vibe that somewhere in between the 70s and 80s. It's not the old school hop tape diner that she generally think of, but rather a slightly dreary, but somewhat nostalgic spot that you would expect your grandparents to sit in when they were in their 40s. Neither my wife nor myself has ever seen the show Twin Peaks, but based on it being set in a sort of dreary northwest town, this place feels like the perfect diner for such a show. The decor here is pretty basic. The booths are all old-school wooden, reminding us of small-town Midwest diners without much of the Americana. The sign reading "this must be where lies go to die" adorns the counter - a quote from the show that matches the often "glass is half empty vibe" of a place that's cloudy 200+ days per year. We literally only came here to try the pie, so we were happy to try both the cherry pie and the banana cream pie. The cherry pie was as good as advertised. It definitely was the preferred pie of both the adults and kids, Though the banana cream pie was pretty solid. The ice cream came along side it was soft serve in a bowl. It didn't seem right initially, but it was actually pretty good. I think there's a lot of nostalgia in vanilla soft serve! We were served quickly and the folks helping us we're all very nice. They do ship the pie nationwide via gold belly, and while I probably wouldn't have a piece of this shipped to me on the East Coast, it was well worth a couple hours to get up there and have a mid afternoon snack! read more

The food was overall just ok, but there were a couple of things in particular that disappointed us. The biggest being their homemade biscuit. The server asked if we wanted toast/muffin/or a biscuit with our burrito when we were ordering it. I didn't remember it coming with sides but chose biscuit which was a mistake since it was super gummy and flavorless. Didn't eat more than a bite. But later they charged us separately for the biscuit. Didn't want to argue cause we were in a rush and it wasn't a big cost but still. I couldn't even find it on the menu later as a separate item. Second, their prices are pretty high for what you get. And lastly, their coffee is just meh which was weird considering it's one of the cafe's selling points. -chicken fried steak: the breading was on the thicker side and overall made the steak not crispy. The gravy was thick but didn't taste like much. The hash browns and eggs were good though. -sausage burrito: this is their breakfast burrito, and it was solid. Yes....I came for the coffee and cherry pie. But! I had breakfast first-- and it was delicious. I knew I was rolling the dice on a wait especially coming in on a Sunday morning. The wait didn't seem long, but I opted for a counter seat thinking I didn't really need a table. I wasn't in a hurry, so when I realized there was only one person taking orders and it didn't matter where you sat, I turned on my patience meter to the highest level. While sitting next to an animated doll on the counter was a little creepy, it was pleasantly entertaining to listen to the different orders and see how the staff interacted with one another. Definite team work from the older gentleman filling up the creamer bowls, to the water server, to the kitchen crew. When it was my turn to order, I went with a green chile (yes, chile with the "e" New Mexico style) omelete with cheddar and bacon. It was quite a while before my breakfast was served...like almost an hour....and the bacon wasn't added but the extra charge was removed when I paid the check. The omelets and crispy has browns were great and worth the wait. That coffee, well it is damn fine indeed. I got the cherry pie to go and can say that I had it. I'd go back for a meal and the coffee and could pass on the pie next time. All in all, a great experience if you are in the area.
