This is one of those breweries that quietly becomes *your* place. Volition Brewing isn't just somewhere I stop by, it's somewhere I go regularly, because it consistently delivers on all the things that matter. The beer is excellent, especially the seasonal releases. There's always something on tap that makes you slow down, pay attention, and then mentally note, "I need to have this again before it's gone." Thoughtful, well-balanced, and clearly brewed with care. The space has real personality. Han frozen in carbonite on the wall... solo, no Jabba in sight. It sets the tone immediately. Add pinball machines (yes, real pinball), and it feels more like a hangout than a tasting room. There are pinball tournaments! The staff is a huge part of why I keep coming back: friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. They know the beer, they like the beer, and it shows. Bonus points for being able to bring in local food. Grab something nearby, bring it in, pair it with a great pint, and you're set. They often have food trucks outback, which is great for those nights when you aren't in the mood to cook. Dinner + beer all in one spot. Amazing beer, amazing staff, and a space that gets it right. I'm not a bee drinker but I love going to breweries for their cider. With that being said I tried the Tieton which is a sparkling pomegranate. This drink alone made me come back a second time while on my trip. One of the best things about this place is that they have indoor and beautiful outdoor seating and it's dog and kid friendly!!! This alone is great for parents who want a trip the brewery. Regarding the food, they do have food trucks with a lot of options within walking distance. Literally feet away, you can order your food and take it back to the brewery. The staff is friendly and the bathrooms are clean. I will definitely be coming back to Volition While visiting the area. read more

We love breweries cause they're much easier for us with kids (plus the beer helps). Coming down from the pass, we wanted a rest stop. This was perfect cause Cascadia Pizza truck was just next door. Volition allows you to bring the pizza in so beer and pizza? Win-win! I started with a flight. Each beer I tried was delicious. The surprising standout for me was their Pie Shoppe sour. Super juicy and tart. Loved it! All their other offerings were solid as well. Mark of a great brewmaster! So good in fact I decided to take home a taster glass. They even have fire areas where you can buy a s'mores pack to make s'mores. Trivia night on Monday night. Also lots of games to borrow and play. Food truck I believe on most nights. I had the Encyclopedia Galactica - excellent hazy IPA. Snacks are available but you can order pizza from Cascadia nearby. Didn't try that but love the options. We got stuck in traffic and I'm so glad; we found this gem of a brewery next to an amazing pizza food truck. The service graciously let us bring in the pizza and provided an excellent brew. It's a welcoming country atmosphere with some pin ball machines for the kids. Dogs welcome! read more

I have been to Volition twice now. Once by myself and another time with Steve. My first time here I got a wonderful, creamy golden ale on nitro as well as a saison, What Would Bobby Do. I enjoyed my beers that I thought when Steve and I were in the area on a separate trip he should have the opportunity to go to their taproom. That time I got the Master Sword, a coffee stout which was perfect for the chilly weather we were experiencing at the time! I'm impressed with how spacious the taproom is if you include outside seating as it goes back quite a ways! The inside is bright, clean and cheerful. Love the Frozen Han Solo in Carbonite replica up against the wall as you come in but I'm a total Star Wars geek. Definitely going to keep this brewery in mind for whenever I'm back in town because the beer is well crafted and the taproom relaxing and enjoyable! read more

Man, I haven't had beer this good in a long time. I'm so glad my friend wanted to check out Volition Brewing while we were in North Bend, as this is a must stop in the area for beer snobs. It's some of the best beer around. We came here on a Saturday late afternoon and the place was pretty busy, but we were able to get a seat towards the back area, which was more quiet than the front. They allow you to taste the beers before ordering a pint, which was nice. I had the Tomorrow's Problems IPA, which was a double IPA and my favorite beer here. Really freakin' good if you love IPAs and hoppy beers. I also had their other IPA that was a very west coast style IPA, which was solid. You really can't go wrong here. If beer isn't your thing, they also had local wines on tap. The space was very chill. Located in downtown North Bend where all the businesses are located, street parking can be easily found and is walking distance to other spots. There was a food truck that most people were getting food from nearby, so you can bring your own food here. Loved all the dogs here and how friendly the staff were. The beers I would rate a 4.5 as they have some great IPAs, and I used to love coming here but with the addition of pinball machines this is no longer a place to go hang out with friends. I love kids and I put in time with my own kids, but when I go to hang out with friends I don't want toddlers running around and elementary school age kids sitting at the bar!!! Last 2 times I went in there were elementary school age kids sitting on the high tops at the bar drinking soda right next to the adults drinking beer. I am sorry, but I would have never brought my kid into this type of brewery nor given them sugary soda...anyway, it's just weird to have so many young kids and strollers in a place that serves only alcohol. I am going to find other places where I can enjoy being an adult. Too bad, as they do have good beer. read more

Great place to gather in NB. Always busy with people and their furry friends (dogs and occasionally a cat). Staff is typically friendly however there are some who don't make you feel as welcome as others. Food trucks offer a variety throughout the week. I'd check the schedule online if you're wanting to eat there. The butcher nextdoor also has yummy sandwiches and bbq. The beer is good! They sometimes lack a variety but not for long. read more

After hitting the Safeway gas in North Bend, I used the super cool air station there for my low tire... man I could use a beer after being that productive. Drove 3 minutes to Volition brewing (2nd time here). I walked past the food trucks.. all looked good, but my reward for hard work was a beer. 3 IPA's on tap, 2 sours, festbier and others. I tried the fresh hop IPA (Subtle Departure). It was a smooth well rounded IPA with Chinook Hops (WA hops!!). I relaxed at the wood bar and caught up on some football on the big screen. Lots of families and friends were hanging out and lots of cute dogs. It's a chill vibe and you can also sit in the brewery. Another great brewery conveniently located close for an after work draft. Located in downtown North Bend. Curiosity finally caught up with me, wanting to try their Ghost House oat imperial stout series, they bring out around Halloween. I did tasters of the Ghost house, Donut Ghost house, and Secret Ghost house, all flavorfully delicious and lethal... high octane ABV! The regular Ghost house has a choice of regular and nitro.. naturally I tried the nitro.. for the extra creaminess and smoothness, lots of chocolate and coffee overtones, I can imagine the whole series would be great in a brandy sifter, slowly warming to room temperature, adding more and more depth and flavors. The Donut Ghost house had the added coffee and coconut flavors, just adding more depth to it. Delicious! The secret Ghost house was barrel aged in Copperworks whiskey oak barrels, definitely more flavors and for sure a great one to allow to warm up, with sips. I also tried a few of the wet hop IPAs, Waygate w/ Strata and Subtle departure with Chinook hops, both with hoppy deliciousness. Great vibe, friendly service, people of all ages enjoying great beers. So if you find yourself driving through downtown North Bend, stop in, they have all types of beer, from pilsners, wine/beer hybrids, saisons, IPAs, Stouts. Also ciders and wines. Great time and well organized in the world of COVID. Clearly marked arrows for ordering and flow of traffic. The seating is spaced apart and they make sure to clean the tables real quick and provide enough seating. They have seating on the side and an outdoor seating area. The beer selections is extensive and they named are as a wonderful nod to sci-fi. My hubby and I each did a flight and then a bigger glass of our favorite. My favorite was Cosmic Singularity. New England style IPA, super tasty but we tried all the IPA's and they were good too. Nice selection of brews with sours, stouts, IPAs and ales. We were told they have a rotating menu. I had a blast here. Wish it was a little warmer this weekend, but dogs are allowed inside. Its a lovely area and establishment. I would love to and plan on returning in the near future. Its a very peaceful 45 minute drive from Tacoma and I cant even guarantee that to Reubens/fremont in Seattle. Our next hike will add a trip here as well. The beer was great, the staff friendly. I realllllly wanted to like this place. It's always busy so many people must enjoy it. To me, it's just OK. Perhaps their success lies in the fact that there are no other breweries in NB. So hats off to owners for capitalizing on that. We have purchased 3 kegs and stopped by for beers a handful of times. I wanted to give this place a real shot but I'm not particularly fond of the vibe. I think we may have had one positive interaction with employees here. Everyone else seemed to be having a shit day or just not really interested in connecting with customers. When in a food or beverage service industry, part of your success lies with having a quality product that people want. The rest of the success lies with delivering the product in a way that creates happy customers who want to return. read more

Wish I could write a more positive review....but due to their poor service and questionable product, I cannot.... I had seen this new brewery pop up in North Bend awhile ago (Volition) and been wanting to check it out, so my wife & I decided to drop in while doing errands. At first we stood waiting in a line at the end of the bar to get drinks but then we saw a few vacant seats at the bar, so we decided to sit....BIG MISTAKE!! It seems that, as soon as we sat down at the bar....WE BECAME INVISIBLE!! Yep, that's right! While others were getting served at the bar (and from the line), my wife & I sat.... and sat.... and.... sat.... ...patiently at first, but when 5 minutes turns into 10, and 10 into 15, and so on, patience wanes.... I finally got the attention of one of the THREE servers behind the bar and asked if we were supposed to get back in the line to place an order and then sit back down at the bar (knowing full well that this wasn't the case, seeing others sitting next to us getting served...), she smugly replied 'no, I didn't see you sitting there' and asked what we wanted....WTF?! It is by no means a large bar, maybe a total of 10 bar stools, very easy for servers to see when new people come and sit, especially considering the servers are only a few feet away and with having THREE of them! And yet....the server says she didn't see us???!!!.....again, WTF!!!!! My wife ordered the Psyche Pale Ale and I ordered the Bendigo Blonde Ale....we're both big fans of German style pilsners and such, but couldn't find anything similar on the menu, so we hoped that the ales might work. Unfortunately, my wife's Psyche Pale Ale had a hinting flavor of garbage (or at least, what I imagine garbage might taste like based on it's putrid odor), and my Bendigo Blonde was some sort of 'pucker face' beer that was dryer than the driest of dry wines...maybe it was supposed to be that way, like a sour-beer, but the menu described it as smooth, which it was not. End result; Lousy service AND bad tasting beer...and yet....this place was BUSY!! I think this shows how hard-up North Bend is with getting new establishments to tryout, it's been the same handful of restaurants and bars for years and years in North Bend....but they've survived through COVID and everything else, so there's a reason they're still in business. Next time we stop for a brew in North Bend it'll be one at of those other places, NOT Volition. Back in October, a small group of us hiked Rattlesnake Ridge and wanted to grab drinks afterward. A quick Google search led us to Volition, and we were glad it did! I can't find the names of the beers we tried online, but one was a hazy IPA that the fellas in my group really, really liked. I tried a stout (maybe an oatmeal stout?) and I loved it, my favorite one so far in Washington. Definitely check it out if you're near North Bend!
