We contacted this company after our prior servicer left on a month long vacation. The first week…read morethey were gone there was a different person here to clean the pool. No one came by after that. Our pool started getting an alge build up so I contacted MAB. They came out on the day and time specified. They brushed the sides and did a "shock" treatment. I was told the would come back a week later and finish the job. I was informed that day that we needed the backwash/flush valve replaced and the filter cleaned (about $300) to which we agreed. The week passed and they didn't show. I called, sent an email and a text inquiring as to when I could expect them. I didn't get a response at all. When I finally heard back I was promised they would be here before the next Saturday. This never happened. I sent a text that Saturday evening informing them that their services were no longer required. I had paid them in advance for the months service ($130). I have asked them for a refund but have not received a response. I do not recommend this company.

I was usually able to keep it looking good, but after a while, it got old when we would go out of town, or I would get busy with other things. As anyone that has serviced a pool knows, there's the whole 'ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure' that applies. It's so much easier to keep the pool looking great on a routine basis and I just have plenty of other things I would prefer/need to spend my time doing. I looked through Yelp for a little bit and came across Al at My Pool Guy Service. I set up a meeting with him and was basically sold after talking with him for a few minutes. He had set prices up front, showed up on time and is just very professional overall, quite the opposite of most pool guys I have dealt with. I believe it's been about 6 months now. Al has always been great. He keeps me posted about when he's going to be there and if there's some reason that he's going to be a day behind. The pool always look good and ready to swim in. It's one less thing on my plate to deal with. I would definitely recommend him to anyone in the Tustin area.

Steve also made me aware of a $400 SoCalGas rebate for my new heater and made it super easy for me to send the form and photos to them. I am techno challenged, so that was very helpful. The service technician who has responded my house and performed the work has always been Brain. Brian has been in the biz for 28 years. He has also forgotten more about pools and equipment than I will ever know. Brian just replaced my old heater with a new one in about an hour. The new plumbing and electrical looks awesome. He also arranged for pickup of the 24 year old monstrous metal heater. Why mess with perfection. I'm sticking with OC Pool and Spa

I initially had a very positive impression of Anthony. He was responsive and helpful, and I…read moreactually saved his number because I thought I had found someone I could rely on for future pool repairs. I was even considering switching our regular weekly pool maintenance service to his company. Unfortunately, my experience changed completely after the service visit was completed and paid for. We contacted Anthony because our pool heater was not working. Our regular pool technician had already determined that the blower had stopped working, so we purchased a new blower. We asked Anthony's company to install the replacement blower and get the heater working. Brian came out and installed the new blower. The blower now runs, but the heater still does not heat the water. Before leaving, Brian told us that the heater was working and suggested that there might be a blockage in the air-intake/exhaust system. He showed us the air-intake box and told us that when it was opened, the heater worked. We subsequently tested the heater extensively, including running it with the air-intake box open as instructed. We ran the system for approximately 30 hours, and there was no increase in the water temperature. The new blower runs, but the heater is clearly not heating the water. What disappointed me most was what happened afterward. I contacted Anthony repeatedly asking for help. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I simply wanted Anthony or Brian to help us understand why the heater still wasn't working after the service call. I even offered to have them speak by phone while my regular pool technician was physically at the equipment so they could troubleshoot it together. Before the service was completed and paid for, Anthony was very responsive to my messages. Afterward, despite multiple attempts to contact him about the unresolved heater problem, I received no response. I had genuinely thought I had found a reliable company that I could use for future pool equipment repairs and possibly even our ongoing weekly pool maintenance. Unfortunately, the lack of follow-up after the service call completely changed my impression. The replacement blower is running, but the original reason we contacted them--the heater not working--remains unresolved, and I now have to hire another company to diagnose and repair it. I wish they had simply responded and helped us troubleshoot the unresolved problem.

Blaine and his team seem to do a great job from what I have seen…read more They have serviced my pool for three months and it has been more than crystal clear. Blaine has been easy to work with and even identified issues with my pool as it was new construction. When I had my new pool constructed he repeated the exact instructions the pool company did without knowing it. That is usually a really good sign because neither had conflicting requests. He was able to get our system up and running and working fantastic. We are trusting him with quite an intense pool with a baja shelf, flagstone, black pebble, and flagstone caps. I am sure it is probably one of the hardest pools to keep clear and maintained and its always crystal clear. He is always pretty responsive with my texts and phone calls and really nice to deal with.

I will let this exchange speak for itself:…read more Blaine, What you report below was never communicated to me in any way-- not via email, in person with a tech, nor in a phone call. You're stating all of this to me as if you had communicated this, which you had not. Your tone is also clearly quite rude, as in "this is not on us", which again refers to issues that you had never apprised me of. You said that you have "addressed" the issue -- but nowhere below did you actually do so. All of this is verifiable. I don't even understand what expenses exactly you're referring to since you've never told me exactly what the issues are. Moreover, you initially said that there is a lack of power and now you're saying the heater not working is due to normal wear and tear - I'm not sure how these are connected, what the diagnosis is, or what your recommendation is exactly as to next steps. All of this is documented below. This is frankly abusive and you should be aware that I'm going to post about this on Yelp and Google and anywhere else I can, such as instagram, LinkedIn where I have thousands of followers, and elsewhere. I'm going to simply copy-paste what's below and let this exchange speak for itself. Are you the owner of this company? If so, what a shame. If not, it would be in that person's best interest to contact me tomorrow. Consider my service cancelled. Sent from my iPhone On May 21, 2023, at 6:08 PM, Blaine Staffieri Hi, you contacted us May 5th 2023 for the heater not working which we have addressed. Your equipment is old and sun rotted. We can not change age or the power of natural fiberglass breakdown. All the current issues are all based on age of your equipment, weather, sun, and previous service. We retain all service records for a reason, proof of completion. I understand, you have some large expenses on your plate that need to be addressed. But, this is not on us. Natural breakdown of equipment and we can not speak on behalf of the last 15-20 years of service. Any additional questions or concerns please let me know. Thank you. This issue was not present before this service started; I'm not necessarily attributing the problem to your service, but I am concerned. Moreover, I am concerned that I haven't gotten any substantive update when I contacted you about this on May 5. Everything I have noted here is factual and verifiable. Please let me know what exactly you are going to do about this and by when so I can decide how to proceed with your service and if this is something I think that potential new customers should be made aware of (eg via Yelp). I am quite frustrated at this point by the lack of clarity and follow-up on your end here, which again is verifiable via this thread. This past Saturday, we were preparing for a pool party and began to heat the pool when we noticed a bad smell. We called every pool service company in Southern California, and Jeff was one of the only ones who got back to us, even though everyone else's hours were listed as "open." Jeff asked several poignant questions beforehand, and instead of taking our money and coming out for an unnecessary service call, he let us know that the issue was beyond repair and we needed to replace the heater. On the day of startup, they came out and he spent a ton of time on the phone in the front of my house. No update from him, he left and I get a random text that my house is out of their service area. I told them that makes no sense as we have been in touch for a few weeks and I was assured all was good. They opted to not take my pool on and told me to contact someone else. They said they wouldn't charge me for the visit like they did me a solid..i just don't get it. All I asked was for transparency and not leave me in a position to call back the other pool companies and ask for a quote. I said, since you made a mistake and it's out of your service area, can you just finish the start up you promised me and I'll find another company to do the maintenance. They said no. After a pool is replastered, it's a crucial time to ensure everything is moving in the start up phase and they almost screwed me over. It's an expensive project to replaster and none of that was taken into account on their behalf. I'm very disappointed in how this company handled my service.
