One of my favorite meals I've had in the city! The whipped feta app was truly incredible, and this freshly made in house bread was probably the best bread I've had since moving here. We got the whipped feta, the mucver, and shepherd salad for apps, and split the risotto fungi and lamb kabobs for dinner. It was all so delicious. We had an early reservation so maybe our service was faster than normal, but the food came out fast, our server was excellent and friendly, just a really great experience. I love these euro-type restaurants and how they set the vibe, but this one fell short. It was basic table cloths and bar. Drinks - let me down. To start, the wine list was overpriced for what you could order. They had several $11 bottles (store price) they listed for $12 a glass. I figured a pace like this would have great drink deals. Additionally, they were out of the wine I wanted, and gave me a small pour. Service - just poor. I get that places are understaffed, but there were 6 tables seated. It took 30 minutes from clearing our table to get the check. I kept trying too. Then they were out of the dessert we wanted. Which we asked for to go, and they either didnt hear us or didn't understand. And this didn have to take 20 min to tell us. FOOD.. this is what we got: -Eggplant app might have been my fav dish. Unique and delish! -Cheese/dough app wasn't as expected, but still was solid. but wouldnt get again -Chicken Kabob was awesome, highly recommend -Beef Kabob I'd skip, just chewy and lacked flavors -..They were sold out of the salad we wanted (how? who knows. its lettuce) -The rice/sauces were good to have, but we barely touched the rice. Wonderful gem in Roscoe. The place itself is beautiful and we were able to sit by the front windows which offered beautiful lighting. The food itself was delicious--we got complimentary bread & dip. Ordered the hummus and two salads--the turquoise is delicious. The staff was so friendly and checked in. There is the option to do the family style brunch until 2pm but we had gluten free so opted for the regular menu. Would love to go back to try that! read more

I had the $20 set brunch menu which includes coffee and tea. They bring just enough for the whole table to try. It was several plates of food so it was definitely filling. All the dishes were good and were interesting. I liked the 2 vegetarian egg dishes as they were very tasty. I wish the crepes had some kind of filling in them. The meatballs were tasty as well but I wish I could have had one more. They only give one meatball per person. I wish they would allow for you to order more of something you like. The eggs with chorizo was really rich. Mimosas are $8...kinda steep as other places would offer bottomless mimosas for a few dollars more. What a great afternoon spent out in the sunshine eating delicious food. Momma chose this place, and it did not disappoint! They start you off with complimentary fresh baked bread and carrot dip. I had to stop myself from eating the whole basket. Superb. We decided to split a Caesar salad and Chicken Kebap, both around $10 a piece. The Caesar salad was served with fried cheese balls, long slices of Parmesan cheese and homemade cesear dressing. Mouthwatering. The chicken kebap came with rice pilaf, chicken and grilled veggies. It was on the slightly smaller side, but for a lunch portion, cannot be beat! The rice was bland, but I mixed it with my grilled veggies and yogurt sauce and had no problems after that! The fact that they have been operating for over 17 years out this same spot with the same people should say it all. Great service and smiles from everyone here always especially our waiter Kadir. Start out with their homemade bread and the carrot dip Then move to the Turkish lentil soup which is consistently perfect. We always have falafel which is spot on. Today went with strudel which was wonderful as was the Turkish lasagna. Kabobs of all sorts and their homemade hummus is a must. Turquoise has become our go to dinner place for work events. The things that bring us back there every time is their delicious food, decent seating space for a group of 20 to 25 people and friendly service. Last night it was group of 22 who dined there. They've a nice seating space in the basement where we were all seated around the table. Easy to talk and communicate , you can see everyone and is just a very warm environment. Business casual might be the right word. There bread is the best thing about this place , made on site , warm , crispy and compliments every single thing on the appetiser menu. Stand outs the humus , eggplant and the yogurt salad. For the entrees we did the kabob platter and the grilled stuff is as good as you can get else where. Lamb was perfectly done - right amount of juice and crisp. The dessert plate had a Verviers of baklawa , Turkish Pastry and ice cream with some fruits. Oh my oh my oh! Thought I'd be a little adventurous and take a hike up into Roscoe Village for a taste of Turkish cuisine. The restaurant is absolutely dainty and the patrons enjoying their time gives off a peaceful vibe on a Sunday afternoon in Europe. I absolutely loved every single dish ordered here. I will definitely recommend Turquoise for those who are curious of Turkish food. Their choice of ingredients are noticeably fresh, premium and exotic. Let's proceed on to the food: 1. Bread service. The complimentary bread is serve warm and toasted! It's served with a cold eggplant, roasted tomatoes and onions medley, I would happily just get full on the bread. 2. Seared Diver Sea Scallops. The scallops are large and well accentuated with olive oil and avocado purée. 3. Chicken Kebab. The pieces of chicken are marinated with strong spices that every bite paired with a mouthful of basmati rice is a blast of euphoria. There's something about the texture of long thin grains of basmati rice so satisfying that you just want to down the whole plate in a one sitting. 4. Ossobucco Short Rib. This was the main dish of the afternoon. This baby is the definition how succulent beef short ribs should be. In the past I've dined at Turquoise several times and always enjoyed it. Recently a friend suggested we have lunch there. I was really impressed by the reasonably priced lunch options and had a hard time deciding. I picked the Kofte Kebab sandwich which was delicious My friend had the eggplant which she loved. TDLR 1. They bake their own bread and it is amazing. 2. I had the best pasta of my life here! 3. Service was great, restaurant wasn't loud, overall great experience. My parents have been raving about this place and talking about how they bake their own bread. Bread comes out with oil to dip in and also some type of side which I do not know how to describe. We ordered grilled calamari to start which was good. The grilled parts really give it the flavor. For entrees we split a mixed plate which had seafood (I only had the salmon which was delicious), meat and rice, as well as a pasta with shrimp. The pasta was AMAZING! I will go back and order one plate of this pasta, it may be the best pasta I have had in the past few years and comes with large shrimp and a scallop on top. I was thinking about this move for few days, since my heart is set on Mediterranean food especially Greek and Turkish bc of my ancestors. I am so disappointed with this restaurant. After my first visit, I couldn't wait to return and try some other dishes. We had a chance to have a dinner here so I made reservations and we arrived few mins before. We were greeted by young man and left to wait for extra 20mins. Then some other guy came and he asked if we wanted to seat?! Well , yes please. We were seated inside in one of the two large rooms. Very nice and pleasant atmosphere was. After few min we get some water and carrot dip with warm bread. I love this dip (We call this salad) so I was happy to have a bite of it. We started with ordering some drinks and appetizers plater bc we were explained wath was included. And that is very important bc I wanted to try specific appetizers included in sampler platter. We waited for roughly 25min when we received wrong drinks. Appetizers came in the meantime time and almost nothing mentioned wasn't included there. It had three dips and veggie and falafel, veggie croquettes as well. Although this was tasty, for 30$ appetizers wasn't acceptable at all. If something is sold out or any other reason is missing waiter is obligated to notice us and ask if we still wanna proceed with the order. We didn't see our waiter for extra 20 min so we asked some other guy to help us. I guess he shared our order with our waiter so he came to ask is everything ok. Well, since far you mixed everything up, other thank that fine. :) Our food was finally here and it was tasty. Well cooked and seasoned. I was already familiar with this dishes and to be honest I had better. It was ok, but wouldn't make some extra effort to have it again. I wanted to make this restaurant our go to place, especially my friend from Turkey recommended it while she visited Chicago. We still didn't get our drinks till the end of the diner and didn't have chance to see our waiter. Other very nice guy apologized and bring us check. They charged us regularly for everything. Having just gotten back from a trip to Turkey (so snobby of me I know) within the year, we ordered all of our favorites from the menu: Adana Kebab, Chicken Kebab, Chorizo Pide (flatbread pizza), Acuka(roasted red pepper and walnut dip), and three refills of the house made bread. While a bit pricey, the portion sizes were NOT small as other reviews seem to suggest. There was plenty of food and it was very well seasoned and presented. Each order was a complete meal and we had leftovers to go with plans to eat them as soon as we're hungry again. For a great experience, make sure you're seated in Kadir's section. I went on a Friday night with a girlfriend and we spent two and a half hours there eating, drinking, and catching up. I wish I could remember our waitresses name, because she was adorable, but alas, her name escapes me. Let me start off by discussing the bread, although it needs no introduction, because the reviews before me have done it justice. It's amazing. It's everything bread should be. Light, fluffy, just salty enough, piping hot out of the oven when it hits your table. Fantastic. It comes with a side of some sort of ratatouille/eggplant dip. Also amazing, with the BEST TASTING OLIVE OIL EVER sitting on the table for you to use at your leisure and dip your amazing bread in. The entrees: I ordered the ossobucco alla milanese. Braised beef short rib, goat cheese semolina cake, asparagus and parmesan gremolata. It was incredible. Melt-in-your-mouth incredible. It was tasty, and soft, and tender - it fell apart on the plate. The presentation was impeccable, there was a bone, with bone marrow in it... I cannot say enough great things about this ossobucco. One hundred percent recommend, top-notch, two thumbs up. My girlfriend got the Patlicanli Islim Sarmasi, which is a braised lamb shoulder meatball wrapped in sliced eggplant, and she LOVED it. I tried some, it was really, really tasty. Also, we split a bottle of wine for $25, which is a REALLY good price, and the wine was great! The meal was so amazing, we had to order dessert. We got the Kazandibi, which is a traditional Turkish vanilla bean custard with a raspberry compote and confectioners sugar, and a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Would order again 100%. Turquoise is a wonderful spot to have a meal at. The food is authentic, tastes excellent, and the drinks are strong and delicious. It's located in a charming neighborhood and has a great menu. Some dishes are definitely more expensive than what they a) cost to make like the manti or baklava, but all in all a good place to eat. I do wish the service wasn't rushed, it felt a lot like they were trying to rush us and it was a slow monday night with hardly anyone there. Made reservation in advance. Arrived and was told I'd have to wait 45 minutes to get seated despite having a reservation. We opted to sit outside since it was already 0800 when the reservation was for. Food was ok, but nothing spectacular. Left hungry. Paid 17 bucks for a salad that was maybe 1.5 cups of cucumber and tomato and 4 ounces of chicken. My friends kabob meat was cook pretty inconsistently. Some pieces medium well, some well, some rare. Never happy when I leave hungry. Just sucks for the restaurant when it does happen because I will most likely almost always say something. This review is not about food but a waiter (not assigned to us) - Steven. On New Year's Eve, a group of 4 of us went out to eat. The food was delicious. Myself and another female proceeded to the bathroom. Both restrooms were occupied so we waited in the small hallway. Before we had a chance, a waiter walked extremely fast through the saloon door, yelling "excuse me ladies," at the same time slamming the door on both of us. And there he went, no apologies, no concern. Another waiter saw it and called the manager over. She profusely apologized and offered ice for my hand. I was visibly upset while stood there waiting for the restroom. I used the restroom and noticed the waiter who hit us standing at the register. I approached him and told him what he did was inconsiderate. He looked at me and said "I am sorry," without any concern or remorse and continued his self-absorbed "only I matter" behavior. I set down back at the table. The manager came over and apologized again. I told her "it is not you who should be apologizing, but him." We paid for our meals and left. This server should truly reconsider his profession or retake classes because with this attitudes, he has no business in a restaurant world.
