A spacious turkish restaurant tucked away in North Center. We came here for 6pm dinner on a Sunday evening with a reservation but did not end up needing it since the restaurant was not busy. We ordered Flaming Saganaki Cheese (not pictured) Hankar Begendi & Manti. The cheese came out Flaming just like the name says & that was a cool start to the meal. The cheese was squeaky, light, & I enjoyed the bread, lemon, fig jam & coleslaw like salad to enjoy it with. Everything was flavorful but the quantity lacked. I've been to a few turkish restaurants now & as a meat lover, I felt like the dishes lacked that. The portion are one the smaller end. It was a nice spot for a date with their fun drink menu but food wise, I'd say I've had better.
Lovely spot in Roscoe village. They have plenty of outdoor seating. The bread they have out was very good! Really like the spread they provided. The mixed platter was perfect to share. Highly recommend the flatbread as well, it came with fresh vegetables and was packed with flavor
My boyfriend and I came here back in February for Valentine's Day dinner. We enjoyed it here! There were heart-shaped balloons all over the ceiling and candlelight on the table - very nice Valentine's Day atmosphere. I got Hunkar Begendi (Sultan's Delight) and my boyfriend got Seafood Tagliatelle Pasta. Both were good! The Hunkar Begendi was essentially mashed eggplants topped with lamb. It was very flavorful. Though it was a small portion for the price and I wish it had some greens at least. They served us their complimentary homemade bread and sauce which made up for it. The bread and sauce tasted fresh, delicious!
Better for a smaller affair. A friend had a party of almost 30. Surprisingly this place had the space for it, which doesn't initially seem possible from looking in, but there is a second wing of the restaurant. However, they did not properly staff for our party. We had a single server for nearly 30 people. There were several assistants running food, but there was only one server who could answer questions or take orders. She did her best and she was awesome but it just felt they were under prepared for a group of our size, which would have been forgivable had their marketing not been pushing the "great for events and groups" message. The prices here are a bit daunting and there is really only one option for food specific to group dining, the meat platter that serves 4. But they should really develop more plated seating options for large groups if they're going to market themselves as a group dining venue. Instead, everything here is a la carte. For me, the more expensive something is, the more it has to wow me. Although I enjoyed the food, it wasn't proportionate to the cost. I originally budgeted to spent about $85, however all the dishes I was excited about had scallops, which they were out of, as it is very popular. I do appreciate the fact that their food is fresh and probably purchased in small batches to maintain quality. But it's always a sad day when missing out on scallops. So instead I went the more economical route and had the turquoise salad with beef kabob. It was bright, vibrant and flavorful. Very fresh tasting. Arugula, candied walnuts, spiced pears. Delightful. I asked for medium rare and was concerned at first that it was closer to rare, but it was tender and well seasoned so I didn't mind. Another guest at the table asked for well done and had to send it back to cook more. (But thats their fault for ruining gold meat by wanting it well done!) While I felt a bit lacking that I didn't have rice, I think the arugula was a good choice. I originally ordered the saganaki but they brought it out very fast and not aflame, with a burnt spot on top...which is not typical of saganaki. I asked if they were going to light it and they took it away as if they made a mistake. Then brought another one already on fire instead of lighting it tableside...but it looked like the same one they brought the first time. Nothing was sizzling, despite the flame and it was dry and crumbly and not melty at all. I hate sending food back but I couldn't eat it. It came with a sort of spiced peach side (though the menu said pepper jelly?) that was nice, but I didn't understand the relation to pepper jelly. I had mentioned a couple times that I wanted dessert and Turkish coffee when I placed my order because others at the table were trying to figure out how we would be paying. A nightmare, and God bless the waitress for putting up with us, honestly. But I had my order and my math all ready to go. But despite telling me she'd take my dessert order when the time came, it never happened, they brought checks without revisiting dessert. So despite budgeting for $85 I ended up spending $45. So I honestly can't really complain (though I know I just did, I must be honest). I might come back for a fancy date, or perhaps on someone else's dime, but I likely would not book a party here again. If I ever have a taste for a tender steak, though, I probably would come back for the beef kabob because it really was the highlight of the meal.
Back in Chicago, gastronimer activated, led us to Turquoise, a quaint Turkish restaurant in Roscoe Village. Indoor and outdoor seating, pet friendly, servers friendlier, cordial and very happy to guide the diner who is unfamiliar with Turkish cuisine. We started with lentil soup and artichoke salad. Mary had the Calamari appetizer, that was huge. Braised Lamb shank over a mushroom risotto for me. To put it into perspective, my wife Mary makes a superb lamb shank and outrageous mushroom risotto and takes it personally when anyone rates someone else's as better. She has actually consented and acknowledged these to be superior, enough said. Finished with a decent baklava but unbelievable Turkish coffee. Juan Valdez, step aside, this is coffee. Overall, very highly recommend Turquoise Restaurant.
The food was absolutely delicious! Came here with a group and we decided to try a few dishes and liked everything. Forgot to take a picture of it but my favorite would have to be the Turkish pizza, not as heavy as you would think. The restaurant was very empty when we got there so I was a little worried about how it would be but everything turned out well. And the bread that came with the meal was super fresh and tasty.
I also came here for brunch & their all you can eat brunch menu is amazing! Everything was very fresh and the flavors were on point. The server was also very friendly. Can't recommend this place enough!
I've been to many Turkish spots around Chicagoland but none of them had mantı. Turquoise however did, and it was delicious! Also tried their mercimek çorba (lentil soup). Finished off with some Turkish tea. The service was good. Was there around a quiet time maybe 4pm. What I didn't care for was the country/Christian music that was playing. Didn't fit or match the restaurant at all. Definitely will come back though!
I made reservations for my friends and I on a Sunday morning. We did their brunch menu. I believe brunch is only on Sunday from 10am-2pm. For $28/person you get soooo much! The pic is what you get and there still were 2 more dishes coming out as I took the pic! Everything was delicious! I like how tea or coffee is included as well. The staff were nice and our waitress Ada was great! She answered all my questions and even told me some interesting fun facts about Turkey ;). There's free street parking. I'll come back to try their other dishes.
We went as big group of 14. Made a Reservation. We all got the brunch. It was so good !! All the food came out family style and was more than enough to fill us up! It also comes with coffee and tea. Or server was very nice and they made sure to keep our drinks and plates full.
Reviews are generally positive. Diners highlight the fresh, flavorful food, friendly, attentive staff, and welcoming atmosphere, with drinks like Turkish coffee also noted.

We snagged a last minute reservation here a few weeks ago as our original dinner plans fell though. We technically were seated in their new - ish wine bar next door but were allowed to chose to order from their regular menu or their wine bar menu . We chose to order from the regular menu. With a group of 6 we tried a variety of food to share. Everything was pretty good. From the Mixed Grill Kabob to the Turkish Pizza ( that dish was not my personal favorite) to the hummus and eggplant dips and Turkish salads, everything tasted good. We did have one vegetarian in our party who ordered the eggplant which was mushy and unappetizing. He exchanged the dish for the vegetarian risotto which was a much more appetizing and flavorful dish. I'm a little surprised the restaurant charged for both dishes as the eggplant was sent back uneaten ( minus a few bites from a few brave souls at the table who confirmed it was not good). The wine bar ( which is attached to the main dining room) had a pianist which while was a nice touch made conversation a little difficult for our large group but at the same time we enjoyed the festive, lively atmosphere of the wine bar . The service was a little all over the place with the food coming out fast and our drinks taking forever. Overall, this is a fun, lively place for a night out with good food. It's a little on the pricy side in my opinion but overall makes for a nice night out with friends and still deserves 4 stars. read more

My girlfriend and I are new to the area and we were so excited to try this restaurant out. We didn't have a reservation, but we were seated immediately. The service was wonderful and the waiters were very attentive to us. We came on a Friday night and there was live music, which made the experience even more wonderful. We had the flatbread & the lamb chops- absolutely fantastic. read more

What such exceptional service and great food!! Everything was delicious and the staff was attentive and helpful. The bread sure was yummy because they say it's made in house. For all the rest of the photos I posted....Yea everything was GOOD!!!!! read more
I had the $20 set brunch menu which includes coffee and tea. They bring just enough for the whole table to try. It was several plates of food so it was definitely filling. All the dishes were good and were interesting. I liked the 2 vegetarian egg dishes as they were very tasty. I wish the crepes had some kind of filling in them. The meatballs were tasty as well but I wish I could have had one more. They only give one meatball per person. I wish they would allow for you to order more of something you like. The eggs with chorizo was really rich. Mimosas are $8...kinda steep as other places would offer bottomless mimosas for a few dollars more. I am interested in coming back for dinner as I heard the dinner is amazing. read more
Very delicious Turkish food, and this was probably the best baklava I've had! Super gooey and loaded with sugar. The meat coma plate was definitely the best option to share with friends, and still had a bit leftover after everyone was stuffed. If you're looking for Turkish food, this is it! read more
What a great afternoon spent out in the sunshine eating delicious food. Momma chose this place, and it did not disappoint! They start you off with complimentary fresh baked bread and carrot dip. I had to stop myself from eating the whole basket. Superb. We decided to split a Caesar salad and Chicken Kebap, both around $10 a piece. The Caesar salad was served with fried cheese balls, long slices of Parmesan cheese and homemade cesear dressing. Mouthwatering. The chicken kebap came with rice pilaf, chicken and grilled veggies. It was on the slightly smaller side, but for a lunch portion, cannot be beat! The rice was bland, but I mixed it with my grilled veggies and yogurt sauce and had no problems after that! We had a wonderful time here and would definitely return. read more

The fact that they have been operating for over 17 years out this same spot with the same people should say it all. Great service and smiles from everyone here always especially our waiter Kadir. Start out with their homemade bread and the carrot dip Then move to the Turkish lentil soup which is consistently perfect. We always have falafel which is spot on. Today went with strudel which was wonderful as was the Turkish lasagna. Kabobs of all sorts and their homemade hummus is a must. We finished with their Turkish Flan which is so so so good.... in closing, You Must Eat Here read more

Turquoise has become our go to dinner place for work events. The things that bring us back there every time is their delicious food, decent seating space for a group of 20 to 25 people and friendly service. Last night it was group of 22 who dined there. They've a nice seating space in the basement where we were all seated around the table. Easy to talk and communicate , you can see everyone and is just a very warm environment. Business casual might be the right word. There bread is the best thing about this place , made on site , warm , crispy and compliments every single thing on the appetiser menu. Stand outs the humus , eggplant and the yogurt salad. For the entrees we did the kabob platter and the grilled stuff is as good as you can get else where. Lamb was perfectly done - right amount of juice and crisp. The dessert plate had a Verviers of baklawa , Turkish Pastry and ice cream with some fruits. Overall a lovely experience with some seriously delicious food. Parking is available on the street and in summers they've outdoor seating. Check it out soon :) read more
Oh my oh my oh! Thought I'd be a little adventurous and take a hike up into Roscoe Village for a taste of Turkish cuisine. The restaurant is absolutely dainty and the patrons enjoying their time gives off a peaceful vibe on a Sunday afternoon in Europe. I absolutely loved every single dish ordered here. I will definitely recommend Turquoise for those who are curious of Turkish food. Their choice of ingredients are noticeably fresh, premium and exotic. Let's proceed on to the food: 1. Bread service. The complimentary bread is serve warm and toasted! It's served with a cold eggplant, roasted tomatoes and onions medley, I would happily just get full on the bread. 2. Seared Diver Sea Scallops. The scallops are large and well accentuated with olive oil and avocado purée. 3. Chicken Kebab. The pieces of chicken are marinated with strong spices that every bite paired with a mouthful of basmati rice is a blast of euphoria. There's something about the texture of long thin grains of basmati rice so satisfying that you just want to down the whole plate in a one sitting. 4. Ossobucco Short Rib. This was the main dish of the afternoon. This baby is the definition how succulent beef short ribs should be. Served on top of a bed of cheesy polenta and grape seed oil, I was at a very well nourished by the end of this meal. read more

Wonderful gem in Roscoe. The place itself is beautiful and we were able to sit by the front windows which offered beautiful lighting. The food itself was delicious--we got complimentary bread & dip. Ordered the hummus and two salads--the turquoise is delicious. The staff was so friendly and checked in. There is the option to do the family style brunch until 2pm but we had gluten free so opted for the regular menu. Would love to go back to try that! read more

I was thinking about this move for few days, since my heart is set on Mediterranean food especially Greek and Turkish bc of my ancestors. I am so disappointed with this restaurant. After my first visit, I couldn't wait to return and try some other dishes. We had a chance to have a dinner here so I made reservations and we arrived few mins before. We were greeted by young man and left to wait for extra 20mins. Then some other guy came and he asked if we wanted to seat?! Well , yes please. We were seated inside in one of the two large rooms. Very nice and pleasant atmosphere was. After few min we get some water and carrot dip with warm bread. I love this dip (We call this salad) so I was happy to have a bite of it. We started with ordering some drinks and appetizers plater bc we were explained wath was included. And that is very important bc I wanted to try specific appetizers included in sampler platter. We waited for roughly 25min when we received wrong drinks. Appetizers came in the meantime time and almost nothing mentioned wasn't included there. It had three dips and veggie and falafel, veggie croquettes as well. Although this was tasty, for 30$ appetizers wasn't acceptable at all. If something is sold out or any other reason is missing waiter is obligated to notice us and ask if we still wanna proceed with the order. We didn't see our waiter for extra 20 min so we asked some other guy to help us. I guess he shared our order with our waiter so he came to ask is everything ok. Well, since far you mixed everything up, other thank that fine. :) Our food was finally here and it was tasty. Well cooked and seasoned. I was already familiar with this dishes and to be honest I had better. It was ok, but wouldn't make some extra effort to have it again. I wanted to make this restaurant our go to place, especially my friend from Turkey recommended it while she visited Chicago. We still didn't get our drinks till the end of the diner and didn't have chance to see our waiter. Other very nice guy apologized and bring us check. They charged us regularly for everything. I wanted to love this place especially after our first magical breakfast here. Well it will not be the case. read more

Tried out this spot for dinner to see what the hype was about, and it was definitely worth it! The steak was halal and absolutely delicious! The ambiance in the restaurant was definitely elegant and regal. The interior decor was beautiful. The meal was also delicious! It came with the meat, beautiful set rice and a variety of vegetables. I would definitely recommend trying this spot out! read more

This review is not about food but a waiter (not assigned to us) - Steven. On New Year's Eve, a group of 4 of us went out to eat. The food was delicious. Myself and another female proceeded to the bathroom. Both restrooms were occupied so we waited in the small hallway. Before we had a chance, a waiter walked extremely fast through the saloon door, yelling "excuse me ladies," at the same time slamming the door on both of us. And there he went, no apologies, no concern. Another waiter saw it and called the manager over. She profusely apologized and offered ice for my hand. I was visibly upset while stood there waiting for the restroom. I used the restroom and noticed the waiter who hit us standing at the register. I approached him and told him what he did was inconsiderate. He looked at me and said "I am sorry," without any concern or remorse and continued his self-absorbed "only I matter" behavior. I set down back at the table. The manager came over and apologized again. I told her "it is not you who should be apologizing, but him." We paid for our meals and left. This server should truly reconsider his profession or retake classes because with this attitudes, he has no business in a restaurant world. HERE is the PIC of my HAND the next day (yesterday)! read more
This place is super cute for a dinner, pretty small but they can acclimate larger groups. The food was amazing! The only think lacking was the service. We had a group of 4 and it seemed like everything took forever. We ordered the meat platter and shared in between us 4 and it was more than enough food. We even had leftovers. The quality of the meat was great. Overall the food is worth it but I just hope they improve their service. read more
