It was my husband's birthday night and he treated us here for dinner. This place immediately reminded me of European country side. Very nice cozy place very quaint. We were lucky to get a table for four immediately in-spite of weekend. The hosts are very nice and we were taken care of very well. But I recommend prior reservations though. Place is busy . We ordered lentil soup and Su Borek. It was very nice and served with a yogurt sauce. We had lemon chicken which was cooked well but it was kind of watery could've been little sauce for better and should've been served with extra veggie or choice of rice or bread which could've made it more appealing and appetizing too. Chicken Kabob was nice so was manti. Coming on to kids pasta , honestly it was also very liquid , saucy would've made it more delicious. The desserts were very good something new for tastebuds. The food was great but the service was so-so. My friend ordered the Turkish pizza and I went with the beet quinoa salad + side of falafel. I thoroughly enjoyed mine and my friends pizza was a good size for the price. He liked his as well. Oddly it seemed the service was better when it restaurant was busier and there was more tables occupied around us. As more people began to leave and mostly the back tables were occupied, we just didn't see the waiter. My friend asked for water and after 2-3 trips PAST our table, we asked another employee. We had to ask the hostess we needed our bill because after close to 10 minutes or waiting, our waiter was not helpful with that either. read more

The food is not Americanized- still very authentic Turkish food!! If you are into kebabs, you can't go wrong with Adana or Baba kebabs!! Lahmacun (Turkish pizza) is also a must try!! I've been wanting to try this spot for years and finally did - why not sooner?! We stopped in for lunch on a gorgeous day, so we were able to eat outside. They were very nice and accommodating with seating as we kept rearranging. They start you off with a dip/spread and bread. I think the dip has carrots in it. Not sure what else but it was delicious! Had I not been there with others I might have licked the plate clean and asked for more! The bread was insane!!! So yummy!! I think they make their own and it is well worth a slice (or 10). I had the lamb wrap sandwich. It was delicious and flavorful and lasted approximately 5 minutes as I scarfed it down ASAP. The yogurt (?) sauce was wonderful with it - I should have asked for more. Inside is also cute but their patio is lovely. Definitely worth a visit. Staff couldn't have been nicer and while it took a little while to get food, it was obviously made to order and fresh and really well seasoned. Bathrooms were clean. Pricing was excellent! We had a great experience from start to finish. The service was quick but friendly. The bread they start you with was deliciously chewy. (I have always felt that when a restaurant goes to the trouble of serving good bread you're going to get a great meal and we did!) Kadir was attentive to our every need. I can't say enough about what a pleasant experience this was. We sat outside and were serenaded by the late summer cicadas. However, the food was the best! Is it possible to leave 0 stars? The service here is not only poor, it is nonexistent!!! I made a reservation and had been looking forward to trying this place all evening... it is so unfortunate all I was able to try was their water! My boyfriend and I sat for 15 minutes before receiving water from a man who didn't even speak to us. We decided that after 30 minutes, if we weren't greeted by a server, then we would leave. Well we gave it 35 minutes and still NO ONE! Thirty. Five. Minutes. One of the people from the table next to us had been talking about the poor service and even had to get up to find someone to bring them their bill. It would be one thing for the staff to say something like, "we'll be right with you", but they did not even acknowledge us. What a joke. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. read more

I am surprised by the reviews about great service. I have lived in the neighborhood since Turquoise opened and eaten there many times, the dinner service is almost always terrible. We say we won't go back but then friends suggest it, and we want to love it, so we (foolishly) go again. Last Saturday was no exception... we got NOTHING without asking for someone to help us first (drinks, dinner, bread, plates cleared, and bill). All of the other tables around us were experiencing the same thing and clearly frustrated. Our friends said they had the same experience with service when eating there the month before. Food was completely subpar, mine was cold and none of the thers thought theirs was great. Of course, no one ever stopped by to ask about our appetizers or the meals. The tables were jammed so close together we couldn't move. I understand that a restaurant maybe short-staffed 'occasionally' but c'mon, get it together. So this time for sure, I will NEVER ever go again! Do yourself a favor and go to the Orchid Cafe on Addision. It's BYOB, great food, and helpful staff. A much better value. read more

Last night my husband and I decided to try Turquoise because the menu looked delicious. We were planning on eating indoors, but the outdoor patio setup they have is much nicer and I I loved the string lights that were set up overhead. It makes for a really nice ambiance. I have mixed feelings about my experience here. Our waiter was very kind and helpful with suggesting recommendations. However, I'm pretty sure he was the only one manning a bunch of tables outside and so the service was extremely slow. I know he was trying his best though and he offered to compensate us for our soft drinks, which was very nice. I also have mixed feelings about our dining experience. It started off great, with fresh house-baked bread that came out warm and doughy. It came with a really nice complimentary house dip, made up of ingredients like shredded carrots, Mayo, yogurt, sour cream, and some others. Unfortunately, the bread and dip were my favorite part of the meal. I ordered The Godfather kebab (a mix of NY strip steak and lamb) and my husband got a mixed platter kebab to sample different meats (chicken, beef, lamb). The quality of my dish did not match up to the price point, considering both plates were around $30 each. I was disappointed that the lamb was extremely dry and unexpectedly spicy. It did not have the best flavor and I ended up giving mine to him. The NY strip steak was better, but it felt under-seasoned and also dry. It tasted better dipped in the side of yogurt and with the grilled tomato. The meat came on a bed of tomato sauce and pita. I did not think the tomato sauce paired well with the strip steak and all the sauce actually made the bread quite soggy and unappetizing. I ended up skipping that part of the dish as well. I was really hoping for much better food quality given the price point. I left feeling unsatisfied and still hungry. On a better note, my husband shared with me some of his chicken and beef kebab, and I enjoyed those far more. For future customers, I would recommend getting chicken or beef kebabs for sure. read more

I was told to sit anywhere, and was given the full price dinner menu. I asked if there was any way we could get brunch, as 130P was a little early for dinner, Nope. We asked about the appetizer platter, as the price was blacked out on the menu. yes the price is $30! We salvaged our meal with a nice Shepheds's salad and Lamb Kebob. Came here for a birthday dinner with large group. The dim lighting and smaller space made it feel like a cozy little family restaurant you would find in Europe. The Beyti Kebab is fantastic. Presentation was very appetizing, the meat was skewered lamb seasoned very well and wrapped in a flat bread with a side of tazatziki sauce and french fries. The fries had no substance to it and was very soggy. They could be improved greatly. They also served fresh sesame bread which was baked to perfection! It had a crisp outer layer and a very soft center. Cons: It was very loud and difficult to hear each other during dinner and the waitress took a very long time to attend to the needs of the table. She also took a very long time in processing the bill which left many guests irritated. Overall, food wise it was a great experience 4/5 minus one for the service. Would recommend it! read more

This place is so cute and yummy! Came here for dinner with some girlfriends. They bring yummy focaccia type bread to your table (which is warm yum) and also some type of horse radish dip (no thanks haha). We started with the Turkish salad with chicken kebabs as the protein and the chicken was PERFECTLY juicy and delicious. The salad was also great! We all ordered the beef osso buco (I know we are lame) and we all loved it. One thing I could say about it was it needed a tad more seasoning on the meat, other than that it was very tender and delicious! read more

We recently enjoyed a celebratory dinner (for various birthdays and work anniversaries) at Turquoise. This was my second time at the restaurant, and I dare say I enjoyed the food even more this time around. I think I realized that the menu features many dishes with lamb or eggplant, or both, and fortunately I like lamb and eggplant a lot. We split an order of the terrific lahmacun appetizer, and also enjoyed the complimentary bread basket. My dinner was the Patlicanli Islim Sarmasi, with chunks of lamb meat elegantly wrapped in eggplant, and a side of white rice. The order is served in two spheres, so it is convenient to eat half of the order and save the rest for leftovers (to save room for dessert). Other entrees enjoyed by our group included a risotto dish with seafood, a pasta dish (thick strands of pappardelle) with smoked salmon, and the Turkish Delight which is actually a vegetarian dish with hummus (and not the gummy candy-like sweet of the same name). Although I was not the one with a birthday or anniversary, my dessert was probably the most flamboyant. The almond parfait is a wedge of hard ice cream, and our wonderful server lit a container of chocolate and Bacardi sauce and then poured it onto the ice cream for theatrical effect. I disagree with just about every person that says this is a good place to bring a date. It's waaay too loud and they do not pay attention to Open Table notations on reservations (I indicated that we were celebrating our anniversary and there was absolutely no mention of it during our experience. Meh.). They also mysteriously cancelled the reservation I made days prior so I had to rebook just a few hours before! Ugh. If I were to JUST rate this restaurant on food alone I would give it a solid 4. Order the cold octopus salad. Skip the Turquoise Martini as it just tastes like Blue Curacao and vodka - uninventive but purdy to look at. A dining experience is more than just the food though and this place falls short when it comes to ambiance (ya'll need candles on the table for realz) and noise level. At some points, it felt a bit like a cafeteria (albeit a niiiice cafeteria). If you are looking for delicious Turkish food this is a great option but plan to move out quickly to another venue for drinks and conversation. I believe this place is better for a group of friends and not for a date (unless you don't want to hear or connect with them - which is totally fair). All that said, I would definitely consider them a nicer Grubhub/Doordash option. read more

I decided to try this place with a Restaurant.com certificate. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night, notably with an older crowd. We only had to wait 5 minutes for a table, which was downstairs in what could be mistaken for someone's suburban basement. BUT, at least I didn't have to wait...for a table. The food on the other hand, took a while to arrive. I don't envy the waitress that had to go up and down those stairs to serve us in the dungeon. I never got the glass of wine I ordered during dinner, but it was for the best. It would have came after I finished eating and that would have prolonged the time I would have to spend down there. HOMEMADE BREAD - This complimentary basket came out prior to the meal and was delicious and warm. They even provided a dipping sauce. ARUGULA SALAD - The dressing went well with this very light salad of arugula leaves, walnuts and pears. FRIED CALAMARI - Meh, it tasted like it has been sitting out a while. TURQUOISE MIX GRILL - The beef medallions were awesome! Perfectly cooked (medium rare) with great flavors. The chicken was a little dry, but has good spices.
