I have typically loved this spot, but was very disappointed the last time I went in on Mother's Day. We weren't greeted for a full 10 minutes of being in the restaurant. It was a bit busy but no one even addressed that we were standing and waiting. I was told that my favorite dish wasn't allowed anymore. I don't know if it was removed from the menu or just put that day. I loved the chile relanos tacos. Our waiter left while I went back through the menu. He obviously put in the rest of our party's order because my meal came out well after everyone else's. He never checked on our table and did not refill anything. My food was overly greasy and cold when I got it. Again, usually I love it there but I didn't love it this time. read more

Yelp, how does this place barely have any reviews? Y'all need to come here ASAP because it's fantastic! Hidden in the corner of a moderately empty but newer strip mall is a rare time where I loved every aspect of my meal. From the start, warm and crisp tortilla chips and a salsa with a little kick hit our table. We ordered the bean and cheese nachos and a side of guacamole. The nachos were straight up beans and cheese but I am not mad in the least because the beans are creamy and savory and the cheese dip was smooth and didn't get all "plastic" and congealed right away like a lot of places. The guacamole was creamy and just the right balance of ingredients so it's not overwhelmingly any one thing. I ordered the chimichanga cuata and the tortillas were fried perfectly and the chicken and beef inside was tender and flavorful. My cousin got the burrito Jalisco with well seasoned and moist ground beef. Everything was well seasoned and not overly salty as things can tend to get at Mexican restaurants. The service was on point and super friendly despite the packed house. Things came out at a perfect pace and nice and hot. The atmosphere is lively but not super loud or overwhelming. Fabulous lunch at Tulum in Plover! The service was excellent, ambiance was welcoming, and the food was excellent! I really liked their complimentary chips and salsa. Portions were very generous! I highly recommend Tulum for your next visit to Plover. I highly recommend their molcajetes, which I think are some of their highly popular signature dishes! Now that's a special dish. Stopped in for lunch during a road trip and delighted with Talum. Mexican decor gives Talum a festive feel. Very comfortable seating, immediate service by super sweet and efficient server. Food out in less than ten minutes. We enjoyed the steak fajita taco salad and soft shell chicken tacos. Probably would not get the tacos again as husband's dish had much more flavor. Don't get me wrong, tacos were good (everything so fresh), but other people's food looked more 'exciting'. Marg's were huge and served in fun glasses (other tables, so can't comment on taste, but other diners appeared to be local and repeat customers). My food was good. They could have made it better. The food that my fiancé had was sent back, because there wasn't any flavor to it what so ever. I'll say that I was happy that they had taken her food off because of that. She ordered a sea food soup type of dish, and it was "new". I had a chicken burrito. Just a quick review today. Staying true to keep away from chains on our trip (except the odd Culvers flavor of the day), we found Tulum Mexican Restaurant in Plover, WI. We wanted something quick and tasty after church, and Tulum worked. You know you've picked a good Mexican restaurant when Latinos are filling many of the tables. Our server Apachee was very friendly and fun. He hammed it up with the little old lady in our group. The salsa with the table chips had a fine chop and was very flavorful. The queso was a great add. It stayed creamy and mixed well with the salsa. My sis and I both had the Steak Fajita Taco Salad. It was a great balance of salad, cooked veg, and steak with sour cream and avocado on top. The steak was plentiful and tender, tasting great from the grill. We got the flautas combo for our little old lady. She ate all of it: two flautas, a cheese quesadilla, and beans. She thought it was wonderful. Try this place out if you are in Plover or Stevens Point WI. read more

Heading through Point on our way home, we bypassed El Mezcal and headed to Plover for something new. The aroma when entering the restaurant tantalized my senses. For having been opened for a mere 4 months, Tulum has the kitchen dialed-in. I ordered chicken enchiladas and Sue had the quesadilla Mazatalan. The red sauce on my enchiladas was not typical, but had the taste of having been simmered for hours with grandma's secret spice blend. Sue said her enchilada was pretty typical. My favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. I'm not one to crave Mexican food often. It when I do I like to go to tulum. Great food with huge portions. The margaritas are giant ant taste great. The first time I went to tulum I got the chicken and chorizo with rice covered in cheese sauce! And it was soooo good. This last time I went I had a fajita with chicken, steak, shrimp, chorizo, and cantinas. Sooo good left full again with plenty of left overs. read more
