I will be honest. It's hard for me to give a unbiased review of the place, because the Jennings are a family that I have known forever. Putting that bias aside, this restaurant is when I go to whenever I'm back visiting my hometown. They have a menu that works for Vegetarians pescatarians, and meat lovers alike. The service is always friendly. They make excellent cocktails. And their food is excellent. I particularly loved their salads. I added Salmon to one of their regular items and I had people walking up to me and asking what it was. It was so delicious. Um. Holy cow. This place is fantastic and rivals anything we have in the Twin Cities where I live. The hammered tin ceiling was gorgeous and made the feel of this place cozy and timely. The normal side for the burgers and sandwiches are HOMEMADE CHIPS AND ranch dip. Seriously so so good. I ordered the Wild Mushrooom Panini...insert gasp! The flavors were sp well blended and the mushrooms so buttery and garlicky...divine! Also, a great drink list as well. Local or not, you'll enjoy this place!! It has been a couple of years between visits. We were happy to have continued good food and excellent service. It was a busy Friday night when we visited the restaurant. The hostess did a great job finding a table for our group and the waitress did well to get us or meals/drinks in a timely manner. I had the Big Tex. It was an excellent hamburger. We were in town for a conference and someone suggested this Bistro. It is a 2 min drive or .04 tenths of a mile From Hotel Meade. They have a nice selection of burgers and sandwiches along with salads and appetizers. I ordered the Dads Italian Beef. It was good but I guess I was expecting it to be a little wetter, like they had pulled the shredded chicken roast out of the juice it was roasted in. Regardless, it was tasty and the toasted hoagie bun held up well. The three others with me ordered a burger special of the day which consisted of a rosemary sauce topped with tumbleweed onions. They all raved about their burgers and we decided to make this our Friday night stop for our next quarterly conference. The homemade chips and dip were excellent as well. I had a lemonade that was refreshing, nothing special. We were here on a Friday and they have a fish Fry that included three different fish or shrimp. None of us was into fish this time but we are hoping to come back again and try out more of the menu. The appetizers looked interesting also and could serve as a meal in itself. Our waitress did an excellent job and was attentive, checking on drink refills and promptly gave us our bill as we finished our meals. read more

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES. Honestly, the atmosphere was good and one of the waitresses was wonderful but she wasn't our waitress. Our waitress seemed new which is fine but the woman helping her (and working reception) was AWFUL. After I inquired about the ingredients in an item on their menu she said, "I don't know so to be safe I wouldn't eat it." Now, I dislike that answer because it was 100% an item that would have had an ingredient list on the box, but whatever. But then she went on to say, "No offense but when people come in with allergies and expect me to know what's in the food? It's THEIR allergy, not mine. I don't know what has that ingredient in it." In a town with few restaurant options -- and even fewer quality restaurant options -- Jennings is a gem. The food is inventive/unique, and it's also delicious. Prices are higher than at other WR restaurants, but that's because the quality is also higher. The ingredients are better, which comes through in how great the food tastes. The service is usually fantastic (though there have been occasional exceptions), and the burger and mac-and-cheese specials keep things interesting. We truly appreciate Jennings and are so glad to have it in our rotation. read more

This is a great place to meet friends and family to enjoy excellent comfort food with a Jennings twist. Imagine a burger where the bacon isn't just on top of the burger, but also baked into the bun. The Ranch Hand steak sandwich, tender, lightly seasoned with just enough butter and a hint of garlic to be decadent, but so good. That isn't even mentioning the onion straws piled on top and a choice of homemade chips or fries. My wife loves their all American Burger, bacon, cheese and garlic mayo, with lettuce, onion and tomato too. Jimmy Buffett would approve! The food here never disappoints! It's an open and friendly atmosphere for food and drinks up till 9 or 10 and then it turns into a festive tavern feel for a night out. The staff do tend to be a little crabby but it's probably because they are busy. We also really, really wish they were open on Sundays for Packer games and such. read more

Wife and I stopped here because it was right on our travel route. Seated immediately and they accommodated my wheel scooter with no problem. Note - the entrance is inclined and easily allows the use of a wheelchair. Wife ordered the blackened chicken Caesar salad and she said it was awesome. I ordered the Wisconsin Bleu burger and it was very good - only complaint was that they used a bleu cheese dressing and not bleu cheese crumbles. It does make a huge difference. Went on a busy Monday right in the middle of the lunch rush. They were a little bit short-staffed, but handled everything really well all things considered. Their burgers looked and sounded great, but I was in the mood for a Cajon Chicken sandwich. Great flavor and a really nice sauce that added a bit of cooling heat (oxymoron I know). They have some house chips that were fantastic too. Can of Coke (Pepsi on tap, didn't know that and got a can instead) made the total before tax right around $14 bucks. Peter, the girl bartender w/ short hair working at 5:30 today(8/16) needs an attitude adjustment. I come to Wisconsin every summer to play golf. I only drink and eat at your bar when I'm here so that means I've been here many times. Every one of your employees has been great(especially Jen) but this girl's attitude sucks. read more

Got lost leaving town during a business trip and Google Maps told us Jennings was nearby and Yelp told us it was good. ;) I had the Pineapple Express burger (grilled pineapples, peanut butter and sriracha!) and my co-worker had the Rueben (which he loved). We both had the cheese curds (squeaky fresh in a light batter!) and the house made chips and dip which was surprisingly tasty (in that we kept saying "these are really good!" In surprise). We came in for a business lunch and the food was great! The pig in a pretzel was my order and I would highly recommend it. We stayed on the left side of the restaurant and it was light and very friendly. The place was pretty crowded the whole time we were in and the servers were eager to help in any way. Food is great. Good service. But, felt like we were being nickled and dimed to death. Refills? yep you pay for them. When you have 4 kids who are used to free refills this added charge came as a shock on our bill, especially since they used to be free. Then the 3 percent upcharge for using your credit card. We wanted to try this place since it rates four stars on yelp. It opened at 3pm and we were first in the door. It is very nicely appointed and clean and neat and the staff very nice and helpful. The restrooms were spotless. Street parking. We ordered drinks and studied the menu for about 15 minutes before ordering. It was at least 20 minutes before our appetizer appeared. We chose the pretzels and beer cheese dip. Pretzwls could have been a bit crunchier and the dip, i've had better. We thought a bit lengthy. Another 15 minutes passed before our entries appeared. I can only speculate that the food was not ready at opening. As far as the food. Not as good as we expected. I had the pulled pork on a hogie bun. Well, it arrived as pictured. When i picked up the bun, it was soaked in water...ug! Apparently the pork wasn't drained properly and there was water in the basket too! Ugg ugg. I chose the BBQ sauce, but two others were available. The sauce was poured over the pork, not mixed in as expected! The italian beef had little taste and also had a soggy hogie bun! The cheese sort of melted on top of the italian beef which covered the meat completely. The homemade chips were unimpressive. We ate in the attached dining room as opposed to the main bar/dining area. It sounded like there was a bowling alley upstairs! The server commented that there were apartments up there??! They say the burgers are great...i doubt that we will be back to try them! A "next morning" edit to my review.... I had a stomach 'thing' all night to the point where i was popping Tums! Although the Dad's Italian Beef was awesome the fries were very cold. I asked for hot ones the waitress came back and said that would mean they would have to drop another basket of them......uh .... duhhhh ????? Never got to taste those fries though and not a dime came off my bill. Very disappointed. The service took over 45 minutes for our table of five and we all ordered sandwiches. Two of my girlfriends had the Salmon BLT, mixed reviews, and their chips were both totally soggy!! The guys of course downed their burgers after the wait!! I can't say I even got to see one of them. Anyway, disappointed. We'll eventually go back. But it will take a bit to forget. read more

I hear all the hype of this place so maybe I had too high of expectations. We went later in the evening (about 7 pm) and were able to find parking. Other times we have thought about going, there was no close-by parking. We opted to eat in the dining area, not the bar. The place has a nice atmosphere and wasn't crowded. It is very clean and comfortable. We were able to have great conversation as the tables are placed far enough apart to have your own space. This is a plus. The food was slower in arriving and was good...but not outstanding. The prices were very reasonable. I heard raves about the chips - but again - good but not something super unusual. Overall, I would go back if I was looking for a casual place to meet with friends and a causual meal. read more

Wow. The bang bang chicken salad is probably the best salad I've ever had. I always hesitate to order a salad at a restaurant cuz it's always such a gamble. Sometimes you get all lettuce and maybe a hunk of chicken and that's it. This salad was LOADED. And such great flavor. I could probably eat this every day and not get sick of it.
