Front door opens Mondays to Saturdays from 10am to 7pm. Call their business number days before a holiday to make sure they are doing nail service. Set appointment so you don't have to wait like walk-ins. Observed the nail technicians prep the massage seat's foot rest with plastic liners to make you feel safe and comfortable soaking your feet in the tub. The clippers and filler used are sanitized and ripped open individually from a blue plastic. Didn't pay attention to the price of manicure but for basic pedicure, soaking feet with no soap and quick foot massage - the service fee starts at $35. If they use gel ... extra $15. It wasn't me but it was my mom who had her toenails done. They were nice enough to have me sit next to her and watch how he cuts the cuticles one at a time. The service was full one hour and more. No accidents happened like cutting the nails or dead skin. My mom is diabetic and it was very important to know that the male nail technician was very careful. I could have given a 5 star review if only some the people who work there could understand and speak a little bit more English so to have a nice conversation and be able to follow the individual instructions from the customers. Also, show and tell the first time customers how to use the massage chair. Haven't seen how they do nail art but I highly recommend this nail salon for their basic nail services. They use OPI paint. Yes! There are also male clients who come and book their nail appointments here :-) Cash and credit card accepted (no additional service fee). Clean unisex restroom. This place has been my go-to nail salon for quite a while in the novi area and in my opinion is one of the best. They have a decent dip selection and an even better shellac selection. I will say it is not cheap to get your nails done anymore since the pandemic began/ since the double dipping is no longer allowed but overall this place has take good measures to keep customers safe with plexiglass in between the technicians and customers. Dip manicure seems to cost around $40-$45 and can vary if your nails need more of a manicure / you're getting tips put on ($45 total I believe). I do wish they had more dip colors but they have some of the best / most popular OPI colors for dip which makes me happy. I like the atmosphere in this salon since they renovated it. They play good music that is upbeat but not too loud. They also ensure they are taking everyone's temperature and collecting these names daily which does help make me feel safer as a consumer during the pandemic. read more

I stopped in on my way home for a pedicure as a treat before surgery and chose an upgraded one. The gentleman did an average service. My low rating is due to another customer"s service who came in after me. She was offered a drink, I was not. Her massage was a true dig in to the muscles style, mine was rubbing in the lotion style. The real bummer was he put my shoes back on, I asked for the thin flip flops they have there but he insisted my polish was dry. Of course when I got home both big toe nails had damage from my shoes. I would not come here again. Maybe I'm a bit of a nail snob, but I have tried several salons over the years. I opted to try this one with a friend, so that we can catch up (it was halfway between our houses). I had the most bizarre pedicure. The technician started the pedicure (shaping my nails, treating cuticles, removing skin) before soaking my feet. Essentially, I was 25 mins into the pedicure before I even got to enjoy the warm water. I have never had that experience anywhere else. Next, the technician started doing my nails while my feet were soaking, and ultimately my clothes were covered in acrylic. Yes, it certainly shakes off of your clothes no problem, but it was still flying at my face and all over me and I was not a fan. LOL. Also, the most relaxing thing about a pedicure to me, is being able to enjoy the warm foot bath and either indulge in conversation with a friend, or mindless phone scrolling. Well, because my finger nails were being done at the same time as my toes, I couldn't do utilize my phone (tragic ). Besides that, I couldn't even recline the massaging chair because I had to remain leaning forward to get all 4 limbs attended too. HORRIBLE!!! Visited based on word of mouth from a friend. Extremely unhappy. I went for a gel manicure and basic pedicure. She asked me how the water for my pedi was. I told her the water was too hot and she kept telling me to put my feet in anyways because I would get used to it. I should not have to explain that my medication thins my skin. I am not telling her that. She told an old lady that too. I just heard the poor lady say...yeah it was comfortable after I got used to the scalding. Seriously? This place can not be licensed. The same woman made several jokes throughout how hot the water was but the girl just laughed and kept putting her feet in. During the manicure the same girl kept moving my hand and arm-without saying a word to me-into an uncomfortable position I kept moving it back and told her that was uncomfortable but she continued to do it until I finally told her not to touch me again. I'm not sure if you can tell from the pictures but she did not go all the way back to my cuticle which is one way that salons get you to come back sooner because they don't cover your complete nail. I also don't know if you can tell from the picture but my nails are quite an even especially from one hand to the other. That was another thing she did was she did not ask me how I wanted them filed for the length of my cut she just started cutting. I will never be back I will never trust my friends reviews again LOL I just wanted to add that my friends have even noticed the color is off...does not match the toes which are supposed to be same color. Seems like they watered it down, every nail is a different length and shape that you can probably see from the photos. Going elsewhere to have it fixed. Tulip nail salon was recommended to me by a friend, l was so disappointed with the service and annoyed with staff. I had planned to my nails done, but the pedicure was so terrible l changed my mind. The technician just appeared to work on my cuticles and scrubbed the top of my feet more than the bottom. I asked to have the dip polish removed from my hands and they left a lot of product on my hands! I used to love this place. I really feel like it's hit or miss, there were maybe 3 people I've had in the past that I liked and were very nice. The rest of the people (and which seems to be my experience every time now) they're unfriendly, like don't even talk at all, just enough tell you to wash your hands. Now, I always get shellac and the last time I went I got my nails done was for my wedding. Two days later they were already chipping. And now, exactly a week later and my thumb nail polish is coming off completely. It's ridiculous. If I'm gonna pay that much just to have it chipping a couple days later, I could have done it myself... but overall I think the atmosphere is why I'm giving it a low rating. One positive is that there isn't a strong nail polish smell like there is in most other nail salons. Edit: I also have this weird black stuff at the top of my nails. Never had that before. read more

This is an update to an earlier review I did for this Salon. At the time of my previous review I was disappointed with a change in the management of the salon that led to unanswered phone calls, staff turnovers, an inability to schedule an appointment without having to physically visit the Salon, and a visible change in the high level of service I had historically experienced. In that review I was careful to point out that the dissatisfaction was with management - not the highly skilled technicians and the quality service they sought to provide. I am happy to report that I wanted to give them another shot after several months. I was able to make an appointment via the phone. The receptionist was personable and courteous. The service I received on my visit was the same high quality I had come to expect. They continue to practice the highest level of cleanliness and sanitation, providing each client their own set of sterilized tools and disposable files and foot sponges. In this age of Covid, Monkeypox and unknown viruses, this action alone justifies a higher rating. My new rating 5 star rating reflects their successful resolution of thr management related issues and the continued excellence of their skilled technicians. read more

I have been going to Tulip for about 6-7 years. After covid they raised their prices (like many other nail places) to be $35 for a gel manicure. I have never questioned the cleanliness or safety of Tulip and see employees cleaning constantly. I have had the nail technicians go above and beyond by mixing 2 shades of one color together to get the hue I wanted. I have NEVER had a bad experience here. My nails are now turning black from the earlier whitish fungus I got from this place. At ALL COSTS RUN ---- DO NOT GO THERE. NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN. Spent over 300+++ for myself and two teens who also have fungus nails. Mine are black and had to go to Dr for Rx and OTC brush on for fungus. I have kind of bad luck here. For some reason I always end up messing up a nail and needing a redo. Sigh. The atmosphere is nice. The service is good and very friendly. Scheduling is not happiness. I scheduled a side by side deal with my sister (who I never get to see) and they tried to start her services a good twenty minutes before mine. Fail. When they got the hint I was pissy about it they did try to rectify it in a hurry. My annoyance was quickly quashed. If you are swinging by for a little time to yourself and are looking for good work you will be just fine. I had a birthday mani/pedi that was pretty much flawless and relaxing. If you are looking to have a sister's day out with no hiccups, I'd look elsewhere though. I do like the cheap shellac manicure here and the middle selection pedis. I wish there was a bigger OPI selection for the shellac but they have an amazing selection of regular polishes for the the toes. Overall though it's a bit of a step up from a cheapie nail place and not too much more in price. read more

Cute place. They do a good job and seem clean. Love that they pulled tools from sterilizing unit and from plastic. Was a little annoyed that we made an appoint on Friday evening, made plans around said appointment then got a call in the middle of our beforehand plans, from the place, bugging us to come earlier. When we said we were in the middle of a meal, she kept bugging and trying to negotiate us to come sooner. Pretty inconsiderate. Won't be back but that was just our experience. I was really loving this place. I couldn't understand how regular polish could last 2 weeks. Anywhere else regular polish lasts a few days, a week if you're super lucky. I can't do gel because it destroys my nails. I returned to get my nails painted again because the quality was so good after about two week. Well it's been almost 6 weeks since my last visit and my nails are still destroyed. The only conclusion I can come up with is they must mix some of the gel formula in regular polish. Tulip Nails has a wonderful atmosphere. The staff is great and do an awesome job every time. I love how they've decorated and stayed away from the typical tacky nail photos from the 80's. Not one in sight! It truly is pleasant. They use Bath & Body Works soaps and lotions which is a nice touch. They are always cleaning and efficient. Last time I made an appointment and ended up waiting 30 minutes in the pedi chair, but it want their fault. There was a group of elderly ladies that took over the salon prior to my arrival and seemed to keep adding on services and took up all the time of each staff member. It was somewhat comical, but I wasn't in a hurry and forced myself to see the funny side of being there for 2.5 hours. It was certainly a one-off situation. They offer a punch card to earn a free paraffin wax, then free mani or fill and then free pedi. Definitely a great way to keep me coming back. Tried this place with my sister for the first time. Took her for a full set and pedicure. While receiving the pedicure the lady suggested she try the dip polish on her full set,because it was the same price as acrylic, but she likes long nails as well as myself. After getting her nails done they were super cute. After a day passes along one of the nails breaks. Mind you her nails in total were $50 bucks, no way they should have broken right, well wrong a nail broke the very next day. We retuned to the shop to let them know, her nails also seemed very thin with the dip. So I wanted them thicker, I asked the owner to thicken them because they shouldn't have broken. The tech while she was doing her nails just fixed the one, so I went back and told the owner that her nails were to thin. They relayed the message, in return I asked was dip strong enough to sustain that length, why suggest something to a customer if it's mainly for the natural nail. They all said that acrylic is for this length, but this is the same person who suggested it because it was only $5 dollars more. She should have told her yesterday I don't think this length is feasible for dip, we'll have to do acrylic then we wouldn't be here the next day trying to fix something that could have been prevented. I went in to the salon to get some acrylic nails soaked off. The young man who was servicing me was rough and dismissive when I told him that he was hurting me. He told me "That's what you get for getting acrylic, now it's gonna hurt to take them off". I honestly was stunned! He clipped my nails with the acrylic still on, so my left index finger nail split right down the middle to the skin. He excessively drilled my nails down. My nails are paper thin and so sensitive that I can only stand to be in water that is lukewarm or cooler. He also nicked me cuticles and they are now inflamed and painful. The utter disregard for and perhaps ignorance to nail anatomy, nail health, customer service skills is astounding. My nails are ruined and it will take a while for them to become healthy again. My friend and I came in here for shellac manis and regular pedis. The pedicures seemed fine, even though they were not very thorough or long - but the pedis are why they are getting one star. The real disaster was our gel French Manicures - OMG where to begin...... I was growing my nails to get the French mani and was really surprised when the tech brought out this industrial sized clipper and clipped half my nails off saying he was evening them out. WHAT???!!!!?? He did not ask if I wanted them cut or just filed - I wanted them filed by the way - first issue. Second issue was on the second day - my gel mani starting peeling off - like legit coming off my nails. By the 5th day, I was missing 8 nails - SERIOUSLY!! I am not sure what kind of third rate products they use, but I will never return to find out. I paid an upcharge for a half assed French Manicure that came off in two days. NO THANK YOU!! I was meeting a friend in the Farmington/Novi area and we decided to do mani/pedis. Honestly, I Yelped a bunch of salons and Tulip was one of the only salons open on Sunday (point in my book). They were able to get us in for a pedicure and shellac manicure at 2 pm, when I called at 11 am (second point). Both the pedicure and shellac manicure (with removal) took about 45 minutes and both technicians did a great job. I would definitely come back! read more

This place is very clean and I was attended to promptly. I liked that they had lots of options for colors and both the deluxe pedi and basic mani were soothing and comfortable. My only complaint was that the technician who did my manicure had an odd definition of what a square nail shape would look like. She shaped my nails like weird fans, which I did not like, so I had to file them to a better looking shape when I got home.
