I like this place and I've had mostly good experiences but some of the folks are rough with the threading (so much so that I was bruised) so I always ask for them to be more gentle and it's helped a bit. Can always walk in and get seated quickly and it's very affordable. I also like that they wear masks. My major complaint is that they always have a weird religious station playing and at a recent visit they were talking about abortion. It makes me very uncomfortable and upset and the station is on every single time. I hope they stop playing it. read more

I was running some errands in this plaza going to UPS and had an Amazon return at kohls and I remembered I needed to do my eyebrows so might as well just go here instead of making the extra drive. First time here and it definitely won't be the last time. GPS took me to a completely different area and I called them to find out exactly where they were located. They were closing in about 20 minutes but did not mention that. I zoomed over there as fast as I could and got there about 15 minutes before their closing time. They checked me in and I took a seat. It was only a few minutes before I was called back to a chair to have my eyebrows and upper lip threaded. I've been getting my eyebrows threaded for about five years now and this is the first place that I've gone to that actually had a poster on the wall showing approximately nine different eyebrow arches and shapes. I pick the number that I liked and the lady agreed that it probably would be a good shape for me. She was efficient and got my threading done quickly. read more

I wish there was 3.5 star option. While I am very happy with how everything turned out; there are a few things I think need some extra attention. Their scheduling software scheduled two people at 1:30, I was there first so I was taken care of first, but if I was the other girl I would not have been pleased. I scheduled an eyebrow WAX (this is important later), eyebrow tint, eyelash perm and tint. The software let me schedule all these things at one time, so I expected to have everything done at that time (the software also said all the services would take 27 minutes) that did not happen. I was advised that an eyelash perm and tint can't be done on the same day and I would have to come back a week later for the tint. Mind you the eyelash perm only last two weeks, so I will go without tint for a week which is important because I have blonde lashes which means you can't see the perm. Next I was told that threading was better instead of wax, I'm a big baby and had a bad experience with threading previously,but to my shock, she did great and i barely felt it. Eyebrow tint was great, nothing to say about that. I've already been there about 20 minutes when she tells me the eyelash perm will take 60 minutes WHAT?!?! I might not have cared so much if I wasn't in a chair that you shouldn't spend more than 20 minutes in. The lashes are gorgeous, but I would be happier if you could actually see them. Long story short, I do love everything and the woman was very wonderful about checking in to make sure I was doing ok. But, don't have someone in those chairs for 90 minutes......it's torture. read more

I'm so happy I found a place that does excellent threading for eyebrows!! I have now been here twice and both of the ladies that did my eyebrows did a phenomenal job. They do not make them too thin or try to shape them differently unless you ask them to. They kept my natural shape and cleaned out the regrown hairs. Also, I was hesitant to go anywhere to get my eyebrows done, but all of their staff members wore masks. I highly recommend this place! One star is still giving them to much. After throughly looking though the reviews and photos that were posted on the website/yelp/Google I had decided to come in and have the eyebrow threading/tinting with eyelashes tint. I had made a appointment earlier in the day on the website and waited for my appointment time, it said nowhere on their website that walk ins are welcomed. Once upon arrival I was shocked to see only one individual in the shop she escorted me to my chair and began to ask me questions about my experience in a salon like the one we where in. After some time of talking about how I wanted my eyebrows to look we began with threading. Once the threading was completed she didn't show me in the mirror how my eyebrows looked and went right to getting the dye. As I watched her she grabbed a brush that looked like it had already been used multiple times and a glass of dye that was set out on a counter. In the middle of putting on my dye she had left to take care of a walk in customer and do threading on them. Little while after she came back over to wipe my eyebrows off. She let me quickly look in a mirror but I couldn't see close up how my eyebrows looked. By this time the shop had four walk-in customers and the lady was looking worried and rushed, she told me that she wasn't going to be able to do my eyelashes because she didn't know how to. Her coworker than came up from the back which I assume was to do my lashes, but ended up getting sidetracked with another customer. Once again the dye they seemed to be using was just sitting out and the brush she had used was the same bushes she used to do the eyebrows!! The lady that ended up doing my eyebrows was instructed by the other coworker on how to do my eyelashes, durning this time they kept asking me if I could feel any burning sensation in my eyes, and when I responded yes they handed me a fan. It did help alleviate the burning sensation but still not a pleasant feeling you'd like to feel when your questioning if their utensils are clean. Once the lashes where done I couldn't quite see all that well because of the burning and watering my eyes where doing. I paid and tipped and went out to my car to show my boyfriend who was waiting and the one paying for this. After getting to the car and looking closely in the mirror I realized how messed my face looked. I personally don't like conflict and just wanted to get home and try to scrub the dye off my face but my boyfriend was willing to call and talk to them about what happened asking for them to refund the money because he shouldn't have to pay for something that was not up to the standards that where portrayed online. He ended up talking with a manager and they agreed to refund the money. Later on that day I had got a call from them in which they said I had to come in and show them and they would fix them, by this point I had already scrubbed off as much as I could. I told them that unfortunately I don't trust them and would just like my money back and apologized for waiting their time. They than told me I had to come in and that they would fix it and get a refund. I unfortunately work 6 days a week from 7am to roughly 9pm I do not have time to come in and go through this process again. Ultimately I'm very disappointed and I highly suggest finding somewhere else to go and get these things done. read more

I've been getting my eye brows threaded for close to 10 years now. I love it because it lasts long, is quick, and doesn't irritate my skin. This place is great for threading. I'm usually in and out, unless there is someone ahead of me, and even then, the wait is no more than five minutes. Additionally, you can get a frequency card that allows you to get a free session after so many visits. Threading is only about $10 and last for 4-6 weeks depending on your hair growth. Please, please, please, if you're looking for a place to get a Brazilian wax, do yourself a favor and do not go here. I was looking for a new place and stumbled upon Pretty Browz (Novi)--the reviews seemed solid so I decided to give it a try. Instant regret. I knew from the moment I stepped in the room and she told me to strip and climb on the table while she was standing right there looking at me, no sheet or towel or anything, that this might be an iffy experience. I won't get into toooo much detail, but I will say that there was nothing about the wax process that was comfortable/comforting, careful, gentle, professional, or attentive. The wax was not applied carefully (and got on places it shouldn't), it was pulled off so painfully slowly and without holding the skin taught, and it was too hot (when I told her this she said something along the lines of "yeah its hot wax" and proceeded to smear it on heavily). She told me she "wasn't allowed" to do the hair on the thigh part of the bikini line, and she also waxed the same spot multiple times and didn't put any pressure on the area she had just waxed. The only positives were that she was thorough and got every hair, she never double dipped into the wax, and that it was more on the affordable side for a Brazilian. But these won't bring me back. I've been to other wax places and have even waxed myself several times, and I can confidently say that this was worse. I had to sit in my car for a while after to collect myself and stop literally shaking from the adrenaline and stress the experience produced. Wow. Will not return. read more

I was somewhat uncomfortable at how Neha repeatedly told me how hard of a time she had doing my Brazilian wax. I was constantly reminded that she was having difficulty because I previously used nair, I also told her twice the wax was too hot and she did nothing. The comments made me feel very awkward. She also drenched me in OIL at the end, told me to rub it in with no warning and it got everywhere. I tried to wipe it off as best I could but I get home and see it went through my dress and permanently stained my COUCH. Highly disappointed. As a self-professed brow connoisseur, there's no where else I go. I drive 30 minutes to get my brows threaded and tinted (or henna) here. I've tried places closer to home but no one compares. The salon is clean and comfortable and prices are fair and affordable. The hours are great. I don't even have to make an appointment! Walk ins are welcome. But if I do make an appointment they are always on time. I am very specific about my brows and I like a fuller, more natural look. The girls are very attentive to detail and get it right every time. Everyone is great but Urja, Paru, and Neeru are especially talented. I even converted my mom, who over-tweezed her now tiny eyebrows in the 80's. It transformed her face. I bought the 3 pack groupon for the Brazilian and the service was ok. It was with a younger woman. Second time I went in for brows because my regular place was closed. The woman who threaded me tried to push other services on me and she tried shaming me when I didn't want it. she was older. I set appointment for Brazillian because I bought the 3 pack from Groupon. It was the same older woman who threaded me the second time I was there. The wax was really hot. I have had been waxing for a long time, this was by far the worst experience ever. She made fun of how much hair I had down there. It hurt so much I bused. I have never had such a terrible experience. Over all Rude. I have a 3rd Groupon and I will not be returning. read more

The first time I was here, I had great service. The past 2 times I was there a young girl did my Brazilian wax and it was horrible and I was highly irritated for over a week and the hair grew back in less than a week. I purchased the Brazilian wax on groupon the first time I went (3 Brazilian waxes for $62), which they used the first 2 times I was there, but the 3rd time I went, they made me pay extra money because it was "not a Brazilian wax" How is this possible when I used the the same Groupon twice before and it was valid for a Brazilian but not the 3rd time? Also, the past 2 times the waxing was horrible. I had to come home and pluck a lot of hair she missed as well as use my epillator. She waxed the same area 5+ times, which you're not supposed to do! This caused irritation that still hasn't gone away and I was only in a few days ago. To be exact, I came in on May 17 at 5 pm. I have been getting my Brazilian wax every 5 weeks I have never had any issues until I came to Pretty Browz. I would not recommend going here at all! But after living in the area for 6 months I was still driving to Ann Arbor to get my brows done and growing slightly tired of it. Horrible customer service. I had an 11 appointment in Novi today. I arrive at 10:55 and was told the person I was scheduled for was running late. I signed in for my appointment and took a seat. A lady comes in ten minutes after me and signs in for an 11 o'clock Brazilian Wax appointment also. The person seeing me walks in and without looking at the sign in sheet, takes the lady that came in after me. When I told them I had signed in before the lady and showed them my 11 o'clock confirmation text on my phone, she told me to have a seat and I would be next. That's totally unacceptable, so I left. I called the other location. They apologized for the incident at the Novi location and told me I could come there. I drive 22 minutes to get to the second location to find out Rupa, the person I was scheduled with is working in Sterling Heights today. Not only did they mess up one appointment but two in the same day. I asked for a number to a manager to make a compliant and wasn't given that either. If this had been the first time I wouldn't be leaving a negative review but every time I schedule an appointment there is an issue. The last time I scheduled online for 10 o'clock. When I got there at 10 I was told they were just opening and it would take 30 minutes fir the wax to heat up. Well if you know this why do you schedule people at 10 which is why I went for the 11 o'clock today. In short, don't waste your time or money. It's not worth the hassle. I will be looking for another company for future wax appointments. Which is unfortunate because the Novi location is only five minutes from my house. read more

Worst wax experience ever. EVER! And I've been taking care of business below the belt, on a regular basis for 10+ years. My girl was out of town so I was in a pinch and saw this place had a Groupon. Well... let's just say you get what you pay for. My vajajay is bruised (sorry if this is TMI!!) and I nearly ran out of the room in tears due to the wax they used. Not only did they use a cheap, plastic "hard wax" as the gal explained it, it was too hot, and I had to have her stop using it halfway through the procedure because it was just so painful!
