I was in mood for lunch so i tried here. My ilder sister had great time in there; now know why. Going inside i noyiced first the bright colored chairs , clay/ porcelain painted, southwestern decor tasteful but not over the top. I ordered the enchilada mosquerda and guac small . The guac was very good fresh smooth, salsa was overly with the onion and cilantro. Enchiladas were very good not overly spicy, very cheesey and spicy green tomatillo sauce. It makes Mexican food very proud. Very fresh, spicy, delicious.

Food and service were amazing! I will definitely be coming back ! Music was good and the people are very nice, fast service and good prices!

Had to pull off the road to find a bathroom and found this place. Food was fresh and really good. Portions were good size. Was a lovely day so we sat outside. What a wonderful find. Great service!!

This is a cute little spot tucked on the corner of a strip of stores in Monroe, NY. I met a couple friends for an after work dinner and it was a very cute dining area, beautifully decorated in the culture, music playing, just an all around good time. Our server was nice, she came back just enough to keep us happy and made sure we were taken care of. I asked her about the meal I chose and she gave me a honest description, so I tried it. Unfortunately, I didn't really care for it. I normally choose a chicken quesadilla, but I decided to"try something new" and that was my bad. I chose the Mexican quesadilla, it's a deep fried corn tortilla, and it's a puffy stuffed tortilla. It may just be too different for me personally. I will go back another day to try something I'm more familiar with. I also had the fresh guacamole and chips, this was chunky and delicious, and my margarita was very good as well.

Those was definitely a hidden gem. We were starving though couldn't find any parking at the Woodbury Commons so we can't to the area we needed to be and find a place to eat. This didn't look like much from the outside though as soon as you walk in on a Sunday at 4PM and it's crowded which is a good sign. While we were there, patrons left and more came in. We received complimentary salsa (which has a kick) and chips which were a bit hard -- good structure for holding the salsa. Just be careful with the liquid on the chip. The second round the chips were warm though still hard. The employees were efficient and all helping out each other whether picking up plates or bringing drinks and dishes. Our drinks: Horchata: was watery and not full of flavor as one would expect. Cranberry and Hibiscus: was great. Our meal: Mexican Quesadilla - it looks more like a huge empanada with rice and beans in the side. This was good though like the grillada more Grillada de bistec - it looks like a quesadilla and this was delicious. Definitely a place to stop by

The best value in Monroe/Harriman. The tacos are legit (highly recommend the al pastor) for a quick takeout or sit down and enjoy some enchilada suizas with rice and beans. Wash it down with a jarritos tamarind and enjoy the lively and packed (but not annoyingly so) dining room ambience.

I love Tulcingo. Their food is always so fresh and tasty. Usually they give red peppers and green but I always ask for just red. This also comes with sides. It's so filling I always have enough to take for lunch the next day! I highly recommend.

While visiting friends in nearby Highland Mills, our party of seven stopped in for dinner around 9:00 pm on a Friday night. Although the joint was hopping, we were seated immediately. Service was fine, a little on the slow side to start, but once drinks were served the timing improved. If you like grapefruit, I recommend their Paloma margarita, from the top shelf list. It was tasty and delicious and the best thing I had at Tulcingo. The chips and salsa were just okay. The chips were slightly stale and under seasoned, i.e. lacking salt, but appeared to be made in house. The salsa had a nice flavor and tasted of fresh ingredients, but lacked any noticeable spice. The entree portions were very large. My avocado salad took up an entire dinner plate, mostly filled with lettuce. The salad tasted bland and lacked flavor. I didn't even get a hint of lemon or lime on the avocado slices. My friend, who dines here regularly, said it wasn't as good as normal, and we thought perhaps they had forgotten to dress the salad, so we asked for some on the side. Our server said the salad was dressed, and told us to look at the bottom of our plates, which we did, only to find a watery, light orange-looking substance. Then she returned with some extra dressing, which was a bright orange color and thicker than what was on the plate. It had a good, sharp flavor and added a much needed kick to the salad. read more

Wow! What have I been missing, Tulcingo definitely prepared perfect Mexican food, very fresh vegetables tasty well cooked and spiced pork, chicken, beef & fish. Could not ask for better or faster service from the two very attentive ladies serving and bussing tables there. Have a full compliment of imported sodas, Mexican beer (about 5 varieties,) Latino and American tasty mixed drinks as well. Cute place. Not crowded on a Sunday. Two TVs. One had the news the other a soap opera. Menu is bigger than a typical Mexican restaurant. More options than usual - which. is good. Portions are large. Popped in here for dinner. Started with sangria and chips and guac. The guac was delicious, as was the sangria. Asked for my dish with the sauce on the side at the risk it was too spicy. It came out with the sauce which I tried to eat but as assumed, my mouth was on fire. The waitress so kindly sent it back and had a new dish made for me. It was quite tasty but the spice had already ruined my appetite. Ate it for dinner the next night and it was just as delicious. read more

Sent questionable seafood back. When my meal hadn't arrived after my entire table was done eating, I gave up and cancelled the order all together. I got no apology, nothing. Very disappointing. Hardly worth the 25-minute wait for the table. read more

Our first meal in the neighborhood and we loved it. Inside the atmosphere felt warm and friendly and the food tasted great! All four of us got different things and all came out in line with my expectations - and that's after a friend recommended it as authentic. We'll return. read more

This place never disappoints. Been eating here for years . The chipotle sauce is amazing . Especially with the dos compadres entree. The decor and music are very good . The staff is very friendly . My only complaint is the parking . If your not careful , you'll get a door ding ! By far the best Mexican cuisine in Monroe . Try it , you won't leave hungry read more

Best mexican in the area. Me and gf since moving to Chester have been disappointed with the 'fancier' sit in mexican places in the area... but low and behold it's this modest place in a tiny strip mall that shines! Place is clean. quaint, simple. Service was very quick and friendly. And the food was excellent! Very tasty and to me, best of all, not super expensive. Me and gf haaaaate spending so much money burritos. Burritos should never be more than $10. Our burritos here were huge, tasty, and fairly priced. Margaritas excellent too. Thumbs up. Blandest Mexican food I've ever eaten. Boiled chicken with no seasonings (not even salt and pepper) inside a tortilla topped with sour cream and lettuce. No spices, no sauces? I could have easily made that at home. Oh, and I was so sick the next day and night that I had to call out of work. I might not have minded the food poisoning as much if it had actual flavor to it. Service was pretty poor too. Took us forever to get our check when we were done, even though the waiter saw us at least 3 times sitting there with our utensils down and napkins on our plate. read more

One of my fave Mexican spots in Orange County. Small but mighty restaurant with something for everyone. My personal favorites include the chicken fajita salad and the carne asada tacos!!! My husband raves about their torta de chorizo y huevo (sausage and egg sandwich)- it is a very close second to his fave spot in Mexico City. You will not be disappointed! After my go-to spot for chimichanga shut down, I was in need of a good restaurant to satisfy my craving. Someone recommended me Tulcingo and I'm glad that they did because their food is on point. I was a little hesitant about the chicken chimichanga, thinking that it'd be dry but no, they were perfect. Their tacos are good too but I'm not a fan of corn tortillas so, maybe I'll substitute it for flour next time. Overall, I highly recommend this place! read more

Food is bland and not authentic. Ordered the coconut shrimp only to receive boxed frozen fried coconut shrimp that I could've purchased at Walmart as opposed to freshly battered shrimp. Also ordered a chicken burrito and could tell no seasoning was used in preparing it. After the waitress took my order she only came back to bring the food, never checked to see if I needed anything. Food is South America NOT Mexican. Huge difference!!!!! Gave an extra star for the Sangria and Salsa which were excellent!!!! Will not return.... read more

Very BLAND food!! I feel like they boil their chicken and they don't even add salt and pepper. I had chicken tacos. My friend had steak tacos even that was bland. I've had the guacamole and it's good. The chips and salsa are good. The blue sky margarita is delicious. They need to change chef, ASAP! Maybe I'm spoilt because I'm from the city. read more

There's about five tables inside with the option for take out. The chorizo burrito my husband and I tried was insanely out of this world delicious. It was moist, well seasoned, had a good balance of fillings, and was still well cooked outside. I might be ruined for burritos now. It was that good. I also had the Milanez de Pollo taco, a thinly pounded breaded and fried chicken breast over rice all served on a slightly thicker masa tortilla. It came with sauted onions and jalapenos. There was a variant of it with hard boiled eggs too. I thought it was a good meal. The table sauces, red and green, are possibly home made? Watch out for the green bottle if you're more heat sensitive- I was on FIRE for a hot minute... but I also wanted more because it was tasty. Aside from the food we ordered they have a heckin' good amount of tortas, huaraches, sopas, etc which I would be eager to try. They also had horchata and fresh pressed juices available. Parking- there's street parking out front and a big parking lot available just a few doors down. The whole area is nice though- get a torta and go to the park or ride the rail-trail.

Walked in and no one greeted us. Place was somewhat busy w only two people working. One bartender and one waitress to take care of about 10 tables and bar full of people. We sat ourselves. Waitress comes over after about four minutes and brings menus. She said she'll bring chips and salsa and never returned. After at least about 15 minutes we just left. Heard they have good food which is why we decided to try. We will never go back. We always only go to LA Rancherita on 101 Carpenter Place Monroe. We went back to LA Rancherita and what a breath of fresh air. We walked in and saw our favorite waitress in the middle of her own lunch. She immediately left her table and greeted us and brought menus and water chips and salsa right away. Their food is always consistently awesome and fresh. A disappointment for sure. We walked in no one greeted us we waited & we sat ourselves. Table was filthy. Waitress finally came over w a dirty rag smelling of chemicals and wiped 1/3 of the table only. We waited 5 minutes and she finally came over w menus. She said she'll bring chips and salsa and never came back. Thank GOD we got bad service because we didn't bother to read the horrible yelp reviews on this place and how their food has no flavor and bland w poor service. Glad we didn't waste our money here. I'm pleasantly surprised by my visits to this establishment. While it lacks glitz and glamour, the exceptional service and delicious food more than compensate. Upon arrival, with only a few tables available, we were warmly greeted and instructed to choose our seats. The prompt menu delivery, accompanied by warm chips and salsa, set a positive tone.
