Upon entering Tulcinga in the late afternoon (not many patrons still there), an employee sees me enter, along with a gentleman who happens to be sporting a ponytail. While some may think that long hair on men makes them "look like a girl" (w/regard to men who are not deliberately trying to look like/become women) it is clearly obvious by their other physical features that they are not women. We were promptly seated by this same woman, who turned out to be our server, "Alex". While we are looking at our menus, another staff member begins vacuuming the floor very closely to us and my colleague and I looked at one another with that "Does she REALLY have to do that NOW - right by us?" look. When Alex approaches us to take our order, she comes up behind my dining partner and while looking down at her order pad, she says to us without looking up "Do you ladies know what you'd like?". SERIOUSLY !!! She then looks up and immediately sees that the "ladies" include a man and she just giggles and says "Oh, sorry." Totally insincere about her apology. Whether she was just being a complete jerk and deliberately trying to offend us because she has a hang-up about guys with long hair, was partially blind, or is so oblivious to her surroundings in general, is of no consequence. Wow this place is really popular on Friday nights. Came here with my friend and they told us the wait would be 15 mins we decided to wait it out. Best decision ever the food was phenomenal , the service was great as well and can't forget the drinks was amazing. My friend and I gotten the pitcher of margaritas and they were so good , they were a bit strong though. The food is really good as well and during dinner time it starts to get really expensive but it's well worth you're time to go there. Plus for we had Churros for dessert and they were so tasty and filling. Definitely coming back here. read more

Food was phenomenal, everything fresh and delicious. Service was equally awesome - the gave us a reservation and texted us exactly on time. Kept other people from "waiting" around in dining room. I happened to pass this place while out on my motorcycle and decided to give it a try. Very unassuming place sandwiched in a small strip mall. Advertised as authentic. Well, I don't have a drop of Latin blood in me so I wouldn't really know how "authentic" the food is. I can only.go by what I like and judge on the entirety of the experience. You know-Friendliness of staff, temp of food, time it takes for the food to come, food preparation, etc. So I ordered the Nachos con Queso. Not bad at all. Very good on fact. Guacamole not bad. Salsa & Chips. Pretty good. Food came out very fast. Good size bar. This place seems to be very popular because as soon as 5pm hit, the place started to fill up Quickly. 3 1/2 stars. All around- The food was ok, and I've definitely had better at Tequila y Sol in Suffern, but I will definitely be back for another round here. read more

Honestly. This place has become rather disappointing I will no longer be getting food from here anymore. I ordered chicken tacos and the chicken was so dry and bland that the toppings didn't even help, it almost looks like it was boiled chicken. The margarita I had was way too sour it's like it was just like ice and sour mix. I don't know what happened to this place but it's gone completely downhill. Not to mention that the waitress just threw the food on our table and didn't come back until we finished with our check. My family and I will not be returning. read more

Best Mexican Food in the area!!! Tulcingos is a staple in my book for the town and for just lunch and dinner. I have tried many Mexican resturants in the area and nothing comes close... Staff is friendly and food is amazing. Margaritas and guacamole are a must! Great enviornment, and almost always can find a seat, even when busy. You never feel like your spending a fortune and always have a very happy stomach when you leave. Great place for date nights or just catching up with your friends. I was very disappointed today with their food. Ordered no onions, no jalapenos shrimp buritto that is my regular order. When we opened it at home, it was large piece of tortila with little bit of shrimps, some sheded cheese and a lot of jalapenos. It was missing tomatoes; and the cheese was not even fully melted. The portion looked like half of my regular order with most space taken by torrilla. It was so spicy that my stomach would not tolerate it! I usually share it my 3 y.o. grandson, but today none of us can eat it. What happend to this place? Corona virus is not an excuse to rippong off the customers. Place was ok. Really small inside and it was busy when we arrived around 7:20pm. Parking lot is also small. Food was ok. Took 40 minutes for us to get our food. Had 3 tacos with side of rice and beans. (Not really worth it) Asked for spicy sauce and I got told they didn't have like who doesn't make spicy sauce at a Mexican restaurant.... Excellent food , great ambiance and service. Authentic Mexican Food . Had the Shrimp Fajitas and it was good. The shrimp were large and fresh . The side of rice and beans was also good. A little more salt would have been nice but overall a solid dish . The Guacamole was chunky and very fresh, i like a little more lime in mine but overall a very good guacamole. The Churros were amazing , i dont eat many sweets but these were on point. They were the perfect balance of flavors and temperature with the ice cream they were served with . I used to really like this restaurant. Key words, used to. Last time I went there I noticed that the quality just wasn't the same. For starters, the chips which used to be one of the best things there have been changed. For some reason they switched to corn tortilla chips that are thick and unsalted. The ones they used to have were flour, thin, and had the perfect amount of oil and salt. They were so so good with the salsa! Also, I always order the enchiladas pollo with red sauce when I go there. Normally it's cooked just right and has strong flavor and spice... everything that you would really find at an "authentic" Mexican restaurant. The last time I went, the flavor was just not there. The food wasn't horrible, but it just wasn't as good as it used to. Maybe they were having an off day, but consistency is really key when it comes to a good restaurant. read more

Don't listen to Peter K.'s review... if you check out his profile he has reviewed not one, but two different Johnny Rocket's.... The guac here is terrific. Big chunks of avocado with so much fresh lime. SO good. I don't really know who would go to a mexican restaurant and have a mixed drink... I know when I go to a mexican place I have a margarita, and here they are great- try a mango one, yum! Start with a tostada. The sopes are great, as are the fajitas. I never have room for dessert, so I can't comment on that... The service can be a little slow, especially at bill time, but everyone is friendly. Anyway, go check it out for yourself, very good mexican food. read more

Not impressed at all. Shocked this place holds nearly a 5 star rating. Interior is small and bright. Felt more like a sit in fast food place. Service lacked. Took forever to get some cups of water and a drink order. Food was bland. Chips were stale. Nobody came by during our meal to ask if we needed a refill or see how the food was. I had to clear the table to make room for to go boxes. That is not a customers responsibility. The area customers are seated was playing quiet Mexican music while a totally different Style of mexican music was blaring in the kitchen. It just made it sound like a conglomeration of noise. It really wasn't a peaceful meal at all. The Shady AF patrons dining there were also a turn off. I would not return here again. read more

I love Tulcingos! My family has been going there since it opened. Love their Horny Margaritas. And their guacamole is the best! My fave is either the Pernil sandwich (for a light lunch) or the Pork sopas. I have even ventured to the more daring - one time trying their chicken with cactus. The cactus was actually very flavorful! They recently expanded their menu selection - I think that was a mistake. We love this place so much that we hired out half the restaurant for my son's Confirmation. We had about 50 people. Jose (the owner) worked with us to get a great buffet together. And he made the most amazing Tres Leches Cake! read more

Food is really good, service is really bad when more than 2 tables are occupied. 1 sometimes 2 waiters for entire restaurant = no refills on drinks and never asking how meal is until you are finished eating. Speak up when you want something and you might get it. Only taking cash now for payment. I gave the waitress $50 on a $30 bill and she asked if I wanted change???!!! We stopped here in the middle of a 4-hour car ride upstate on a Friday evening, and were pleasantly surprised! We were in a bit of a hurry, so we sat at the bar, and despite the fact that the restaurant was almost totally full, our food came out quickly, and exactly as ordered. Bravo! We had the chicken burrito with a side of guacamole. The guac with the burrito, as well as the salsa (gratis) we received when we sat down were both very good, and though the chicken wasn't wildly flavorful, the overall burrito was good. We also had the chicken and cheese enchiladas with green sauce, which I really enjoyed - the green sauce was great, and had a bit of a kick to it without being overpoweringly spicy. I also sucked down a great margarita, and was impressed with their tequila selection. Service was very friendly and efficient. We were absent minded enough to leave our debit card there - fortunately, they were nice enough to hold on to it until we could return on Sunday afternoon to pick it up. Many thanks! All in all, we had a great meal with wonderful service. If we head back through that area again, we'll pop back to try the fajitas - they looked and smelled great on their way to another table! read more

This food is so good!! I moved out of monroe 7 years ago but I almost always come here for my pollo a la plancha... the #10. Service is always good, the girls are friendly and the margaritas are also great. My husband enjoys the salsa and chips that you get when you dine-in. He always gets the mexican trio... and sometimes we get the guacamole. I am hungry just thinking about it!! These guys really know mexican food... go there and see for yourself! read more

Date night with my wife and we enjoyed margaritas, fajitas, tacos and guacamole. The service was very good. Drinks came quickly and were very refreshing. Complimentary chips and salsa was delicious. Chips were warm and salsa spicy. Steak Fajitas were marinated in sautéed onions and peppers. Came out sizzling! Customer service was great, check came quickly. Best mexican food anywhere. NOT your bland vareity mexican that is for some reason so popular. Tulcingo uses ingredients and that have flavor, lots of cilantro, the salsa verde is so good. I always get the chicken flautas (no flautas i've ever had even compare at all), the chips and salsa are so good. Since going here many years ago, all other mexican is bland. The tacos are soooooo good! Any of them, beef, a few pork varieties. Also, full liquor license great margaritas. Can't wait to eat again tonight. read more

We were able to come in just before the rush. The decor of the restaurant is festive and tasteful with light colored walls and art. Could use some updating with seating and walkways. The tacos were seasoned very well for my taste, spicy but tolerable. And packed with meat. With all the Mexican restaurants I've been to, this was a pleasant surprise with how much meat was on there. The steak quesadilla was also filled with a lot cheese. That being said, one could argue they do fill their plates with an excess amount of food, but who would really complain about that? For dessert, the tres leche was very moist and a very big portion with a lot of whipped cream. The churros were also fresh and warm with just the right amount of filling accompanied with nice cold ice cream. Prefect harmony. However, they seemed understaffed for how busy it got but remained friendly and professional. The price for our whole meal was very affordable. Good food for a good price. read more
