Great atmosphere...very clean and beautiful art throughout! Very warm and friendly service and excellent food. My husband has a very surprising delicious alcoholic pumpkin pie flavored drink and an tasty salmon w with linguine, capers and cherry tomatoes. I had a pretty good first visit with a great and attentive server, on my next trip it seemed different, with less attentive staff, and perhaps food that didn't seems as tasty the first time around. I saw Tula's while driving on Paseo, and I finally decided to go check it out. I ordered the Rueben Sandwich with the Green Chile Chicken Stew on the side. I enjoyed every bite, and the buttered part of the bread was a great way to complement the flavors of the rest of the sandwich. The stew was a nice addition to the meal, though I wish it had more heat spice-wise. I also ordered the Berry Cobbler for dessert, and it was a great way to top off the meal. Overall, I would recommend this dish, and I'm going to try out other items the next time I stop by. read more

Oh Tulas! You have so much potential! I know it is hard to find good help these days, but honestly, if you are promoting more of a "cafeteria" feel to your restaurant, then get rid of your servers. This is the second time I have been here and I am not really sure why you employ servers. All they do is bring drinks and then basically disappear. I had to go to the bar to get a refill and this was after I literally had to wave my hands in the air to get a servers attention, and they still didn't bring the refills. You are already have customers order at the counter, might as well have them pick up their food and drinks there also. It would be quicker and you could lose all that useless "server" overhead. The food is good, but over priced for the type of establishment this is. To me, it felt like an il vicino, but not as efficient. I really want to like this place, but your business model isn't working. read more

Four of us for lunch today. We sat in the outdoor space, which was very nice. However, the food for all left a lot to be desired. The Chicken Salad Salad was waaaay salty, with too much chicken salad for the too little amount of greens. The Chicken Scallopini was deep fried, I think. And much too spicy for scallopini. We all shared the peach crepes for dessert, the sauce which is yummy with the vanilla ice cream, but the peaches are from frozen. Portions are large, but a lot of mediocre food doesn't mean much. Had the fried chicken sandwich and the chicken had absolutely no flavor. Ordered a side of Mac and cheese with green Chile. Glad I ordered the chile because other than that it was dry and bland. The service was also very slow. We didn't get refills until our meal was almost over even though the waiter took refills to the table behind us multiple times. The place is nice looking, but small for seating. You order up front given a number and then you hope to find a seat. Also it is so loud, you cannot hear the person you're sitting with. I ordered the Ruben. It was very disappointing. If you make one, know how to make it. The corn beef had no flavor, the sauerkraut was over heated, brown, and very salty, I'm used to sauerkraut being lite and flavorful. The salad was good, so liked the veggies cut and the dressing. My daughter was very disappointed in the Mac n Cheese. The chicken strip was not bad, was tender, but was slightly bland. I am hoping that they fix the kinks as they move forward. read more

We tried Tula's late one recent afternoon. We were seated promptly at a wonderful outdoor table. Water arrived shortly after and then our order was taken. The wait staff was very helpful. Food arrived promptly, and was excellent. We had a great time. Great experience (the Reuben!). The interesting thing is that we tried Tula's even after reading a very recent negative review. Had a "only in ABQ" moment yesterday. Came in, ordered food (glad they changed the ordering process) sat down and promptly got our drink and ordered at the same time. Pretty good so far fight? Well, the problem is, we never really saw our waiter again. Sorry, to be accurate, we saw him walking around but never came back to our table. In fact, we sat for 30 minutes and he never came back. Now to be fair, I tend to be impatient so I didn't say anything after 25 minutes of not having our order. The place was not that crowded (try to be understanding with staffing issues still continuing, etc) Finally after about 30 minutes, made I contact with our server and he came over and asked, "did I take your order"? We were not sure what to say. Yes, 30 minutes ago. "Oh, I forgot to put it in, what did you want again". Don't bother, just give me the bill for our ice tea and my wife's drink. "OK". Fortunately, the Manager noticed and came by and asked if we were OK. I told him what happened and he apologized and told us not to worry about my wife's drink. Sigh, we support local businesses always but Tula's needs to figure out how to up their game. They know how to do it, we love Dion's amazing as everyone knows. We finally stopped by to check out Tulas! I'm completely in love with the whole vibe! Beautiful atmosphere for sure! The food was okay- we ordered the tator tots and chile strips! I would eat those chile strips as my whole meal- just bring me a huge plate! My husband got the flank steak, it was okay he ordered it medium rare and it was well done. I got the pork sandwich which didn't have any sauce on it and pulled pork without sauce is just dry and harder to eat. I loved the toasted bun, apple cole slaw, and flavor, but that meat needed something. We were both enjoyed our meal, but I feel like this is so close to being great! I look at 3 things when I rate restaurants. They are ambience, service, and food. This has an amazing ambience and a great service but the food was horrible. The waiter came several times to make sure the food was good and she filled the lemonade. They have a very limited selection of food. We ordered tater tot's, Mediterranean nosh, chicken salad- sandwich, tomato bisque, grilled cheese sandwich, mac & cheese, and butter noodles for the kids and some lemonade. Tomato bisque was decent, but we didn't like any of the rest. They have a bar which we did not try. I guess if you would like to try some drinks and get some bar food, then this might be OK. I personally neither liked the selection of the food, nor the taste. We did not try the deserts. I wouldn't go there with my family again. read more

The menu is decent but doesn't quite match the decor - it does however stay safely in the ABQ food comfort zone offering green chile options, gourmet sandwiches, and salads, in addition to sparse but very safe mains. Love the cocktails and fun drinks they have for younger folks. It was pleasant and service was on point when we went. If they had a few more appetizer/entree options or a specials board that would make more sense with the design but guessing it was developed with an eye toward chain expansion so they likely have a set inventory. Bit of a missed opportunity really. Decent option for lunch or dinner. read more

Service was horrible!!! The waitress came to our table once- to drop off our drinks and that was it. We had to waive her down to receive our check to pay. I had to ask another wait staff to get her to bring us back our card. Waiting for her to come back took longer than us receiving our meal (which she did not bring to us) and eating it! Went to Tula's for lunch today. Oh boy! Did they deliver!!! Ordered the tater tots and chile strips as an appetizer. It came with 4 dipping sauces: hot sauce (rather heavy on the vinegar), green chile ranch, regular ranch, and chipotle ranch. Couldn't decide which was best so tried them all multiple times but still couldn't finish the dish. Took half of it home. Ordered shaved prime rib sandwich and up-charged Mac and cheese. Only ate half as the sandwich was more than I could handle and I cut it in half. My companion ordered the crispy chicken sandwich with the side of green chile chicken stew. The crispy chicken fillet was hanging over the sides of the bread it was so big. Again, we cut the sandwich in half and took half of it and the stew home. For dessert, we debated between the peach crepe and the ice cream sundae. Chose the sundae with 2 spoons to share. We barely got around that dessert as it was 4 scoops of vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate and caramel sauce, 4 raspberries, and whipped cream YUM. !!!
