I ordered the prime rib sandwich. This was the worst meal I've ever had in a restaurant.

When you walk in, you order food/drinks at the counter and then are given a table number. Seating is a nice combo of booths and chairs, and also a high chair/bar area. All food is made in house. I wish they would focus more on their fried chicken. It's perfectly seasoned, crispy, and OMG good. Of note, some items on the menu are chicken, but not fried, so be aware of that when making your choices. They also have a children's menu that caters to the standard picky child, but if you can talk your little one into the fried chicken, it'll be an improved nutritional experience that your typical chicken fingers. They are also willing to water down the lemonade so that the sugar high and inevitable crash can be mediated. read more

Atmosphere was bright and airy. The staff was attentive and friendly. My husband liked the kabobs, my chicken salad was too dry.

Went in with my wife. The server was nice and did a good job, the food just took forever to come out. It seemed like anything that wasn't a salad took a while. For the cost, I expected more chicken on the Airline Chicken and wish they had more vegetable options than asparagus. read more

Lovely lunch of the berry patch salad with salmon and he had the lemon caper salmon. Both solid dishes. Good portions and quality food. Our server Mando was polite, professional and maybe a bit too reserved. Clearly he is new to the waitering game and will soon learn how to bump up his tips with higher ticket amounts. Dinning room is decorated in early millennial. Why folks with years of food service and dozens of restaurants under their belts would use carpet in the dinning room, (already stained) can only be answered by whomever came up with this design feature/flaw. The booths are lovely, but we are 2 big guys and our knees hit each other, the booths are so narrow. I'd like to see a few more vegetarian and pescatarian offerings. Overall, I'm impressed. Went here for the first time today. Found the atmosphere to be very nice and pleasing. The ordering was not what I expected. They have the menus on the wall behind the cashier. They do have hand outs, so you can stand there, figure out what you want and then tell the cashier. You seat yourself and the server comes promptly. Our server was Isaiah and he in no way could of been more pleasing. Extremely professional and attentive. One of us ordered the Green Chili Chicken Stew, another ordered the Pork Tenderloin Sandwich, and I the Lemon & Herb Roasted Chicken. Our meals came in a very timely manner. Two of us were very pleased with the lunch, but mine, the Lemon & Herb Roasted Chicken was raw on the inside. Caught our waiter and showed him and he immediately picked my plate up and was so apologetic I told him I would like to exchange it for the Green Chili Stew. Absolutely no problem with that. I was so pleased at the quickness of being served. So many times when you send something back, the others are half done if not finished with there meal by the time you get your reorder. The Stew was a good choice. All of our meals came with Cucumber salad also very tasty. The only other thing I wish our Stew come with is bread of some sort. I really missed that. The inside was very clean and I loved the atmosphere. Restroom were spotless. Isaiah promptly served our checks, ( which is a real perk ), took our payment and returned quickly with our receipts. I very seldom leave a 50% tip, but the way in which we were taken care of it was well worth it. Will definitely return. Would of given five 's if it hadn't been for the rawness of the chicken. Really good food! We're here on family vacation, and we went to Tula's for lunch after our long, terrible United Airlines flight. We couldn't wait to have drinks. The spicy mango margarita isn't frozen, but they WILL make it frozen if you ask!!! The only reason I didn't give five stars is because they do not offer any GF bread options. The ambiance reminds me of Culver's lol It has cushy rubber booths, and it's a relatively small place. I would go back again. It was good. I had the half chicken. YUM. read more

My husband and I went to try for lunch. There was a little wait to be seated which was fine. I ordered a steak salad and my husband ordered a pasta dish, restaurant was clearing out and another couple was sat across from us about 10 minutes after us. We ordered our drinks and food at the sane time, pretty soon after we were sat. We got our drinks and waited well over 40 minutes to get our food. The couple that was sat after us received their app and their food, we asked the server and she kept saying it our food was coming. Mean while we were still waiting for a salad and pasta dish. The food finally came and it was just blah the streak was not seasoned and the pepper shaker that I grabbed from another table was empty. First let's just say love the ambiance and decor very clean and bright. Our waitress was super friendly and kind. Love the small menu instead of having a million items to choose from, they just have signature items. I ordered the chicken scallopini the crispy chicken was delicious!!! Today was my second visit here. It has changed a bit since my first visit. Instead of ordering at the counter and having your drinks and food delivered to your table, you are now seated and orders are taken at your table. The menu has also changed a bit and additional items added. Went with a friend and she ordered the Thai BBQ sandwich. The sandwich was loaded with a generous portion of BBQ. She said it was delicious. Being it was a cold day, I was seeking comfort food. I got the grilled cheese (add green chile and turkey). Served on sourdough bread that was perfectly toasted. The three cheeses with the green Chile and turkey were generous and I chose the tomato bisque as my side. Could choose from tater tots, soup, or their signature salad as the side. The tomato bisque soup was really delicious. Served with crema, house made croutons, and fresh basil. Ended up being too much food for me and brought half my sandwich home and I will toast it up for dinner early in the week in a cast iron skillet. Everything that was coming out of the kitchen looked great. Will definitely be back. The space is open and bright with a lot of natural light. We thoroughly enjoyed our first experience at Tula's Kitchen! This place has a great vibe, and the staff were very helpful, nice, and patient since it was our first time and we're indecisive. My wife got the chicken salad sandwich and a cup of the green while stew and loved both. I got the crispy chicken sandwich, and it was honestly almost too much chicken. The chicken on the sandwich is their chicken strips, but their chicken strips are huge. I ended up pulling one out, eating the sandwich with just one chicken strip, and then eating the other chicken strips by itself. It was great! I got a beer also, but they do have a full bar if you prefer anything else. Overall a wonderful experience and we'll definitely be coming back to Tula's. read more

Have been wanting to try and tonight was the night! Hubby had grilled cheese and tomato bisque--one of the best he's had. The bisque was flavorful, rich and perfect with the grilled cheese. An adult version of a childhood favorite. I had the beef kabobs w/ potatoes and broccolini. The kabobs were heavily seasoned and very tender. Most were cooked to medium rare, but a few were medium (my preference). Huge portion that could easily serve 2. Service was very friendly and attentive. Since we live in Rio Rancho, we don't get to that part of town very often for a meal, but since we were in the neighborhood on Tuesday, we decided to try Tula's; we had heard that it was open. The ordering process is okay, but I can see a time when the line is out the door; another order kiosk would be helpful. We got a good table and Isaiah was quick with the drinks; asking for sweetener and straws slowed up the process. Hubby ordered the chicken strips; when they arrived, they were overly browned and looked overcooked by about 3 minutes. The supervisor came and had them replaced, but the replacements were almost as brown as the first batch. The strips were large, more like planks than strips, and Hubby said the second batch was okay; he brought one home. I ordered the berry salad, and I was sorry I did. The berries were plentiful, but there was much too much greenery in the bowl. While I like spring greens, it would truly help if they were cut into smaller pieces. Some of the greens were 4-5 inches long and trying to get all that in my mouth was something of a chore. The champagne viniagrette was very good. I agree with another reviewer that choices of bread with some of the items would be a help; the three small triangles of pita didn't last. The iced tea was refilled promptly--too promptly for me, as I use sweetener and the servers EVERYWHERE seem to want to refill the glass as soon as the level drops nearly to half. Those of us who use sweetener don't like our ratios disrupted by the addition of new beverage. The lunch check was more than either of us had anticipated, but the prices here are more in the league of an upscale bistro-type restaurant---which I guess Tula' is. The service was terrific, the atmosphere is clean and quite modern with some neat stuff hanging on the walls, but the food wasn't enough to get me to the Heights very often. read more

This was our first time here. It is walk-up counter service. Just waited a few minutes in line and placed her order. Just an FYI, you don't pay at the counter. You pay when you are finished eating. I ordered the roasted lemon chicken, and it came with delicious diced potatoes and a little Greek salad with cucumbers tomatoes and, to Olives. My mother ordered the chicken salad sandwich. She chose the Greek salad with that too. Both entrees were excellent. We had the berry cobbler for dessert. It had a small scoop of ice cream and whipped cream topping. Also super yummy. Tula's Kitchen is quite interesting. While the menu is simple, it doesn't quite match its facade, and it isn't executed well. We came for lunch and left after an hour and 15 minutes, which is just too long for a luncheon. We had three grilled cheese sandwiches, and two sandwiches, which were burnt and the grilled cheese non-melted. The flavor profile of them were not any better than a homemade grilled cheese. Finding out that they are the sister restaurant of Dion's, I think they do hot sandwiches way better, which is disappointing as that parent company has an extremely successful business model and menu. I'd welcome just repurposing Dion's sandwich menu and replacing it at Tula's, with different names. Also, I don't quite understand the service model. The manager checks to see if there's a table available, takes our order, then we sit down at a table of choice, then the server brings out our drinks and food, then we pay and tip. Wouldn't it make so much more sense to just have a host, and a server, like a typical restaurant? I would feel more welcome and inclined to tip more. It feels like a fast casual restaurant, imitating a full service restaurant. The issue with this service model is that we got stuck behind a group of 8, with two kids, who couldn't decide what they were ordering. It took roughly 15 minutes for them to order, and then ponder where they were going to sit, which took the manager away from the counter to accommodate. All in all, we had to wait 25 minutes roughly to order our food. If we had been sat by a host, ordered from a server, we might have had a decently quick lunch. I really feel as if Dion's could do better at helping Tula's find their niche. Maybe it's a different team, but I think you guys might want to just adopt Flying Star's model of order and pay at counter, hand them a number and food runners deliver. read more

Tulas Kitchen is a sister restaurant to dions which already holds a special place in my heart. Tula's has Delicious food, drinks, and desert! I got the Mediterranean nosh which is considered an appetizer but was PLENTY of food for a one person meal. It had pita bread, Kalamata Olives, cucumber, tomato, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. It was absolutely delectable. The margarita was a very classic one which is exactly what I was looking for. The Brownie was the same one you could get at a dions counter except it's warmed, topped with ice cream and whip cream and so delicious. The prices are great for the food and service that comes with it. I will definitely be back! read more

We tried Tula's for the first time tonight and the food was very mediocre. Our charcuterie board had only a few small slices of one kind of cheese (there were not multiple cheeses) and it also did not come with pickles or olives as advertised. It was definitely not worth the price. Grilled cheese was very oily and mediocre, and the pasta we ordered was very dry and the noodles flavorless. The chicken on the pasta was fried like very dry chicken tenders. Dions is much better. I understand they just recently opened and hope things will get better in the future. (Rolling eyes at that one.) If you want to have bacon and green chile, add another $2.00 to an already small sandwich. I also had the tomato bisque. Tasty, but a small bowl for $4.50. The croutons were immediately soggy. The house made pickles were excellent. The wait staff were very accommodating and some of the best I've ever been served by. Didn't understand the whole point of ordering upon walk-in. Seemed like it took a while for us to get our food too. Food was mediocre. Had the crispy chicken sandwich, Mac n cheese, and broccolini. Did not taste home made. Also, tots are not exactly a delicacy. Seemed like a strange choice for a side. Keep in mind, the place is new and may be working out some kinks.
